Disclaimer: Let me start by saying I am half-Korean and I enjoy eating Korean fried chicken. I was thrilled to hear that there was a new restaurant opening up in Flower Mound that caters to the other kind of KFC. Sadly I must say that my experience at Mad for Chicken was subpar. I went during their soft opening. I ordered 20 wings to-go. Half of them were soy garlic and the other half was spicy soy garlic at their bar. The bartender told me it would be about a 30-minute wait. I came back to the bar after 45 minutes to ask what was up with my wings. The bartender really didn't have an answer and went back to check on my order. I was then told it would be another 10 minutes. Not only did I receive my order 55 minutes after placing my order, a gentleman who placed an order after I placed mine received his order long before I got mine. As for the chicken, it has a nice texture but I couldn't really taste much garlic. For the premium price paid and the overall experience, I can say this Korean fried chicken is OVER-RATED. There are far better Korean fried chicken places than this place. I will likely go back to Mad for Chicken to give them a 2nd chance, but there are some things that stick out that people should be mindful of. My takeaways: Mad for Chicken is targeting non-Korean customers. Now why would I say that? Their pricing is substantially higher than other Korean restaurants who cater to predominantly Korean customers and offering the same thing. Case in point, their Kimchi fried rice is $15. Koreans by and large won't typically pay this price for such a common dish. However if you are non-Korean you may likely pay the premium pricing due to the "exoticness" of the dish. Be mindful of the lack of Koreans eating at this establishment. This is a business relying on non-Koreans for their patronage to pay the premium pricing. Mad for Chicken only does two versions of one flavor of Korean fried chicken. Most other places have a handful of other flavors. I must also warn others that I discovered their to-go box leaks the sauce out. Worth noting if you put your to-go order in the passenger seat of your car. Thankfully I was able to get home before it made its way to my car seat. I did not know about the leaking until I picked the box up from my coffee table after eating my meal. I would encourage people to try one of these other places that I personally think are better: No. 1 Plus Chicken (Dallas - in the Komart plaza) Hot Some Chicken (Lewisville - in the Zion Market food court) BBQ Chicken (Carrollton - in the H-Mart plaza) From observation, I would wager that at least half of the customers at these establishments are Korean. If not, more. The rule-of-thumb is their pricing will be more reasonable. BTW, there is another Korean fried chicken place opening up in Flower Mound called K.O. Chicken next to the Salata off of Long Prairie Road. Hopefully their chicken, service, and pricing proves to be better than Mad for Chicken. Time will tell. Passing thought: A 30-minute wait is the norm when placing an order for KFC at any Korean establishment. Mad for Chicken easily exceeded that. They need to work on execution and prioritizing orders when placed. read more

Before going to Mad for Chicken I watched a few YouTube videos on the Brooklyn NY location. I have to say I have all positive things to say about Mad For Chicken. Jess was my server and she did a great job. The owner Mr. Tan came over to check on me and explained how their prep is a little different due to the difference in the local water vs. Brooklyn. Our water is hotter and so they have to cool it so the cooking process is perfect. I ordered the half & half wings and I knew that they cook to order so it would be a little bit before my food arrived. It did not seem like an excessive amount of time. They have lots of TVs so it was not hard to pass the time. FRESH HOT CRAZY GOOD CHICKEN is what I have to say about the wings. FYI ... this was my first time to have Korean Fried Chicken. I decided to bring my wife and cousin and his wife to dine in. Wow this was a mistake. The server really did a poor job. She did not put our order for chicken in the system. Then I had to speak to the manager. He apologized but we ended up waiting over an hour to get our chicken. The wings were great. The drumsticks were just ok. The kimchi fries... well we could not find the kimchi. Our waitress did not check on us frequently. She never admitted messing up the order. The food we were supposed to get went to other customers. If you order from here, just get it to go. They did give us a slight discount for the inconvenience. This place is AMAZING! The wings are top shelf, we got the half and half of the best flavors. 10 out of 10. I also got the crab meat salad and it was so good! The dressing was perfect with a touch of spice. Ben was our waiter and he was so helpful! We had never been in before and he hooked us up! We have always heard great things about mad for chicken so my friends and I decided to try it tonight. Heather was our server and she was so attentive and great, we got an assortment of flavors of the chicken wings and they were bigger than you'd expect. We have dined at Mad for Chicken many times and have been very satisfied. After our visit today, we will not be back. Appetizers and service were good. The problem started when we ordered our dinners. My son's sandwich came out first. 10 minutes later, my chicken tenders came out. After half an hour, my Wife's and Mother In Laws meals were still not out. We canceled those meals and asked to speak to a manager. After 10 minutes she arrived. We explained that when we go out for dinner, we like to eat at the same time like a family. She then stated that their kitchen is broken down into two different sections that do not communicate. And that with this model, it is impossible to get food out at the same time. We have been there close to 10 times before and never had this problem. I came on a Tuesday night and legit waited an hour for my order which was only 20 wings and some bulgogi over rice. I understand that it takes a while for these wings to cook but as a frequent customer of Korean fried chicken, I have never had to wait that long. Also, if they were understaffed or overwhelmed with orders at the time, that should have been communicated when placing the order so expectations could be managed at that time. I've heard a lot of MFC in New York, and this is the first one in Texas; it did not disappoint. When done right, there's nothing better than Korean fried chicken and beer. This place has the highest quality chicken I've tasted in DFW. The fried batter is just the right amount of crisp, the flavors are spot on, and the meat is tender and juicy. Their wide beer selection is impressive, and the prices are very reasonable. Everything about this place is what you'd want from a Korean fried chicken restaurant and more. What a disappointment! Ordered to go. We had the clam chowder and fried dumplings . $10 for a bowl of clam chowder. Took the lid off the container and it was 3/4 full. It had no taste. Basically thickened milk, a few potato cubes, a scant bit of tiny minced clam. Seriously did not have any flavor. None. After tasting it, I am now grateful it wasn't completely full. Truthfully, if it had been good clam chowder, I would not complain about the cost. The fried dumplings did have some flavor, but we didn't really like them. Two bowls of clam chowder, two orders of dumplings $43. You can go to Texas Roadhouse and get two 12 ounce steaks and two sides for that price. If you love clam chowder I suggest not ordering it.
