There's a large parking lot in front, so parking was easy on a Sunday afternoon. We had a reservation but ended up being seated about 15 minutes late - the staff was very apologetic though, which I appreciated. I ordered the iced salted toffee latte, but the salted toffee flavor was very subtle. By the end, I could barely taste it at all. That said, our waiter was extremely kind and very accommodating of dietary restrictions, which really stood out. We got the chilaquiles and subbed carnitas for chicken - I actually really enjoyed this dish. The two poached eggs were cooked perfectly. My only complaint was that there was barely any avocado on top; I would've loved a bit more. Flavor-wise though, it was solid.

We also tried the blackberry goat cheese pancakes, and unfortunately this was a miss for me. The goat cheese flavor was pretty strong, and since I'd never had it in pancakes before, it felt a bit experimental. If you prefer sweeter...

pancakes, I'd skip this one. Food came out quickly and the restaurant was decked out for Christmas, which was cute. Overall, it was fine for a one-time experience - nothing really blew me away food- or drink-wise, but the staff energy was great. Also, if you want to embarrass a friend on their birthday, bring them here. This was the most enthusiastic Happy Birthday singing I've ever witnessed - the entire restaurant joined in.

This might be more of a personal preference issue than a knock on execution, as someone who enjoys goat cheese would probably like this dish more. The chilaquiles were pretty average. They were a bit heavy on the black beans, and I wish there had been more avocado. Chilaquiles are usually my go-to savory brunch order, and unfortunately this version fell a bit short compared to others I've had. The iced latte was also a bit subpar. Overall, an okay brunch experience, but nothing that really stood out or would make this a must-return spot for me.

Such a cute spot for a girls brunch! Service was great, estimated wait was an hour but we got in within 20 minutes for a group of 8 on a Sunday. Everyone really enjoyed their meals; great portions, great variety on the menu. Two of our girls got the Lucky Duck and didn't enjoy it, the mimosa flavors were not strong, as 3 different mimosas were ordered and all tasted very similarly and light. The Ube Matcha was a hit though! Overall, the vibes here were so fun! We would absolutely come here again the next time we're in San Diego.

Cute restaurant for brunch. Food was good but nothing special. Tried the corned beef hash, papas locas, waffle churro sticks, ube matcha, and brown sugar cinnamon latte. The ube matcha was sweet but couldn't really taste the matcha. The brown sugar cinnamon latte had very strong coffee with little to no brown sugar or cinnamon flavor.

Our server was wonderful. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, so we were able to bring the dogs. We came for breakfast and for me personally, I wasn't dazzled by the menu options, but that's not to say others won't be. It truly is personal preference so I say, give this place a try for yourself. I think it was tricky because I'm a pescatarian and there were a lot of meat items. I ordered the surfer burrito with soyrizo. It was good. I would have preferred it come with sour cream rather than chipotle. We also ordered the waffle churros. Those were good too but they don't give you enough dipping sauce.

Had a work brunch at Madi in Pacific Beach today, and it was a hit with all six of us. It wasn't busy when we arrived, though I've heard it gets packed on weekends. Parking was straightforward with a small lot and plenty of paid street spots nearby. Dakotah took great care of us. She handled our group's quirky requests with total composure, checked in at all the right times, and even sent a couple of coworkers off with to-go refills. The food was outstanding. One of my coworkers ordered the Poke Bowl Surf Shack, and it looked as good as it tasted -- bright, fresh ingredients piled around a scoop of rice and a side of spicy mayo. Another went for the Surfer Breakfast Burrito, which came with black beans and a choice of salsas. I had the Oklahoma Onion Smash Burger with bacon, served with crispy fries and a cold Mexican Coke. Everything at the table landed well. Coffee was excellent, too. They also add a 5% hospitality fee to the bill, which seems to be a growing trend in San Diego. Overall, a great spot for brunch with friendly service, good vibes, and food that delivers. I'd happily come back.

I came here for a friend 30th birthday celebration and it's did not disappoint. The menu had a ton of fun options, and I ended up getting a cute iced coffee that came in the most adorable little glass. I got a classic breakfast and it was absolutely scrumptious. The whole restaurant was such a good atmosphere and the decor was really really cute. I actually ended up coming back a few weeks later to bring some friends and show them the place! Our server was extremely kind and took care of our large party very well. They made my friends birthday extra special by putting candles in one of their desserts, and it was a huge success!

They say it's shareable but it's too good to share. They have a parking lot but get here early as the parking lot get pretty full. If I'm in the area again I'd stop by and try something else on the menu.

First time at this location and it was very spacious, clean and bright. The service was good, the waitress was very approachable and kind. The food was good. Big fan of the food. Not a big fan of the drink I got (it had ube in it along with something else) but everything was finished! You get to keep the rubber duck the drink came along with haha. Happy to see Madi in PB and a good use for the old Rubio's spot. Came on a Saturday early so parking was not an issue and there were plenty of tables. I've been to their other location and I like the feel and ambience of this one better. Brighter and more cozy. And easier to find parking is a plus. This time I had the blackberry and goat cheese pancakes. They were good but probably will order somewhere different next time. My husband had the shashuka and it looked great. Eggs perfectly poached and carnitas looked tender and moist. The sauce had a slight spicy kick which was nice but unexpected. The burger was good and so were the fries. The pineapple cold brew was ok...tasted like pineapple mixed with coffee and slightly tart. The coconut flavor was mild. It smelled really good. I appreciated that it didn't taste artificially flavored. Service was friendly.

It's not really for me. Service was slow, but I forgive that, because they were short staffed, can't control that sometimes, but I had the corned beef hash, and, while the ingredients were cooked and put together well, the corned beef hash itself was that generic dog food tasting stuff that a lot of restaurants use. The stuff comes in cans from Brazil, and it tastes terrible. They use scrap cuts that taste terrible, and I don't know why so many shitty breakfast places use it, but if it's not a locally made brisket corned beef dish, why am I paying 18 bucks for this dog food? If I wanted that, I could go anywhere else, like Denny's or IHOP. Restaurant was clean though. read more

Happy to see another restaurant take over the former Rubio's location. We ordered the Surfer breakfast burrito . ($17.50) It was good but next time I would try something I can't make at home. Hot tea is available but not on the menu.($6) Seating outside is cozy with other tables . The seating inside felt like Rubio's cafeteria style. The service was ok but felt like a simple transaction, nothing special . I was hoping for more charm in this restaurant. read more

What a great brunch spot for Pacific Beach! The space is nicely arranged and the acoustics in the back were great. We enjoyed our beverages and brunch menu items. It doesn't detract from the 5 stars, but keeping the bathrooms (and paper towels) stocked should be prioritized. My mom and sis also noted no chocolate options (e.g., pastries or choc chip pancakes) on the menu. Not an issue but something to consider. read more

Went here with my family New Year's Eve day, and it was really great. The staff was attentive, water glasses were filled, the lattes were delicious, and we all enjoyed our food. I'm originally from the south and I thought the chicken fried steak hit! My partner got the burger and the caramelized onions and fries were so delicious. Mother-in-law got a salad, sister-in-law got the Papa's locus and my brother-in-law got the chicken salad sandwich. All of our plates were clean! We will be back for sure. read more

Best breakfast in PB! Finally there is a place that has great ambience, terrific service, delicious food, and fair prices. The owner Jeff is so nice. He paid attention to so many details when designing the space and creating the menu. The GOAT Points toast was incredible. The lemon pancakes and the blackberry goatcheese pancakes were outstanding. Ate here for brunch with my daughter and it was so delicious. We shared the chilaquiles and French toast and I enjoyed the pozole too. Everything was tasty and hot. Elyse Marie took care of us and her service is top notch. From her menu overview, recommendations and her table maintenance- she knows her stuff and managed to take care of us with a full house. Came last weekend for my nephews birthday and had the best restaurant experience in a while. Gia took care of us and was so patient with all our questions and kiddos we had with us. i ordered the country club sandwich and it was honestly one of the worst sandwiches I've ever had and I don't understand how hard it is to make such a simple sandwich taste so bad. It was $18 and I didn't even have more than two bites. The service is great and the ambiance is pretty but this was my second attempt at giving this place a chance and the food is so mid I just don't think it's worth coming back, especially with these ridiculous prices. The only good thing out of coming here is it inspired me to make my own sandwich at home which was probably better than any sandwich I've ever had! Save your money, eat at home read more

The food okay and service was good for an early lunch. I was excited to try this new place in the old Rubios location near the beach. Parking sucks and is managed by Ace parking or street parking and it was a little expensive for a place that looked and felt like Rubios. I'm really bummed this place wasn't better. Went for my husband's birthday on a busy Saturday afternoon. My husband and two teenage sons were dining. We ordered the French toast, burrito, GOAT sandwich and Blackberry and Goat Cheese pancakes. One piece of French toast was so burnt that we sent it back before the server even left. Then I discovered my GOAT sandwich was cold. It was also very messy. Too much jam, the bread fell apart and it was all over my hands. The flavors were good if it was made right. The blackberry and goat cheese pancakes were a little goat cheese heavy. It was more in thick clumps without any added flavor or sweetener so it was a bit much - and I love goat cheese. There were other issues but I know people only really care about the food. However, I didn't ask for anything but when leaving I stopped at the hostess stand and let her know about our experience. Her response was "We are understaffed and doing our best." I asked for a manager and her response was "Well thank you for coming in." Neither apologized or even said thank you for letting them know. It has good potential but they need to tighten up the food, get management that cares, and don't go in there when it's busy. For a second location they shouldn't need a big window of adjustment. read more

The food is very good. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The chef is very kind and the Coconut Cream pancakes were delicious. Will be coming back with my whole family. It's a really cute place but after my friend and I were seated we didn't get our waters until 15 min in. The same went with 2 tables that were surrounding us. It wasn't a packed day either. We got our orders taken after waiting for a while and our coffee came out after the food was served. Thankfully, our food ended up tasting pretty good but between getting seated, getting our waters late, having our order be taken late, getting our coffee late, it was like the staff couldn't figure out who should be taking care of our table. We got some stares here and there from the staff but no one took priority to even check on if we've been helped or not. Seems like they're understaffed with some weird management practices going on. Thinking about it I'm craving one right now hahaha They do have seating inside but it is limited. There is street parking. If you park on Garnet or on Cass right in front of the establishment it is pay parking. But you can literally Drive one block away and it is free to park in the residential area. Since it is only a few blocks from the beach I can imagine at certain times parking would be trickier than others. But do yourself a favor and come here for a bagel and a drink.

Sun-dried tomato bagel with chive cream cheese - this bagel was light airy and had a nice cheesy sun-dried tomato on top. The cream cheese was also very light and fragrant. Really enjoyed this! Everything bagel with chive cream cheese - had to try this classic bagel and it did not disappoint. Lots of seeds on top and a high-quality bagel The food all came out very quickly, and the baristas were very friendly. Will definitely be back to try more of their sandwiches on the menu, get their bagels again, and try more of their drinks!

I forgot the name of the burger I tried, but it was chicken based that was like a curry infused (it was yellow) and I thought it was a nice edition to the menu. Side note, you might want to wear gloves or eat with knife and fork as you'll be using a lot of napkins for sure (haha) I will continue to show the love for this place and enjoy this as one of my "special treat meals". We honestly could've waited the 2 hours for Morning Glory and gotten our food at the same time if not earlier. The restaurant wasn't packed with customers but they were definitely short staffed or something because there were two couples sitting next to us who were also waiting for their food. One couple was ready to leave when their food came out at that exact moment. The servers did apologize and told us that they were having issues with the kitchen. They also offered us all free orange juice. However, if they knew they were having issues with the kitchen then they should've told us earlier before we got seated so people could go elsewhere rather than waiting an hour for their food. Overall, service here was very poor. In terms of food, it was unfortunately pretty good but not worth the wait. I really liked the simple toast with matcha cream on top as well as the curry hamburg. My friend ordered the shakshuka (not pictured because it came last and everyone just wanted to eat at that point) which was also pretty good. For the avocado toast, the toast was too hard so I wouldn't recommend it. We also ordered a yuzu and matcha yuzu mimosa. Both tasted like yuzu. The matcha yuzu one was basically a green yuzu mimosa. They have a vero water purification system so their water was really good lol.

The only reason this isn't a 1-star review is because of one server who stepped in and tried to make the situation as okay as possible. My mom and sister-in-law were visiting, so we went out for brunch. I ordered a build-your-own bowl with potatoes, quinoa, avocado, and added feta cheese. When my food came, I mixed everything together and took a bite--it tasted off immediately. I realized goat cheese was also an option on the menu, so I asked my mom to try it. We both agreed it was absolutely goat cheese. For context, I'm vegetarian and eat feta all the time--I know the difference. I told our server, and she took my plate to the kitchen and said they'd remake it. A few minutes later, she came back... with the same mixed plate and told me the kitchen said it was feta. They tried to serve me the same dish that had already been taken to the back. That alone was enough to turn me off completely. Pretty sure that's a violation of food and safety handling practices. . I refused the plate and explained again that it wasn't feta. After going back and forth, they said they'd remake it, but at that point I didn't even want the food anymore. The situation felt uncomfortable and honestly just gross. It didn't end there--another staff member came over and continued insisting it was feta, saying "I'm not saying you're wrong, but it was feta," which felt dismissive and unnecessary. Then oddly asked if we wanted coffee when we already had drinks and walked away again. Meanwhile, our original server never came back to check on us or apologize. The only redeeming part of this experience was another server who came over, acknowledged that it wasn't handled well, apologized sincerely, and removed the item from our bill. Overall, it was an uncomfortable and poorly handled situation, and I won't be returning. read more
