We live in Tacoma and we're headed to Kent for work stuff and we decided to try this place. Reviews looked good ! We came in at 08:30 and several tables were still empty but people filtered in consistently after we sat. I ordered the Tycoon? Quiche with fruit cup ... mmmm so good! Bf had the meatloaf with eggs wknd special.. mmmm also really good. It had like a hint of anise or something and was delish. So we sat around a piece digesting and noticed the flower on r table. It was a Gerber Daisy in a bobba straw in the bud vase! Omg how clever!!!!!!! I'm totally gonna do that at home when I cut my roses for bud vases! Ok I decided to pay up front and noticed the coooookies...... peanut butter cup peanut butter .. for the boy. And then I saw some choc chip and oatmeal raisin in back on the cookie sheet. Those had just come out of the cookie oven. Omg I said can I get one of those oatmeal ones??? That was one of the best I've had in such a long time. They were crusty and chewy all in one!! nice staff. I've been here a few times and the breakfast foods are decent. sometimes there can be a wait. I would consider this place inexpensive. This is a great place to go for breakfast or brunch. easy to find. right downtown Kent. I liked the tomato and spinach omelette or the oatmeal or the scramble with the hashbrown. My boyfriend would always have their oatmeal with toast. read more

This is the cutest breakfast spot! Service was exceptional, and the waitress welcomed my son and I like we were regulars even though we were visiting from out of state. She promptly gave us an adorable caterpillar fruit plate when we arrived, as my toddler was fussy. The coffee, eggs, pancakes, and bacon, were great! Highly recommend for a homey and good breakfast spot! read more

Grew up in area,used to be a favorite both as mom's and Maggie's.Havent been in a while so I stopped in couple days ago. The coffee was always bottomless for 30 years,I didn't see a change on the menu and we weren't told it was by the cup.I may have missed it on the menu,but when they are charging us 2.50$ for every 8oz cup they could maybe at least wait till our cup was empty before coming over to offer a "warm up". 2.50 each for a bunch of partial cups of coffee is excessive.Especially when you aren't being clear about the change in policy. Wont be back, too many places I can eat as good cheaper and not have to pay more than Starbucks prices for drip.Not the same place it was. read more

If Maggie's isn't a breakfast institution in downtown Kent, it should be. They just do breakfast right...fast, greasy, unpretentious, and tasty. Service is always quick, friendly and attentive. I usually order a chicken fried steak and it's always fabulous. I also like their patty sausage, super tasty. It's truly your comfort, feel good food. You'll be stuffed. read more

It's not phenomenal, but it'll get the job done if you want a breakfast joint in Kent. I've had Maggie's Mess & Maggie's Scramble. They're both mediocre, but huge portions. The customer service is decent. Sometimes it takes longer than usual. If you're not a regular they don't get to you as quickly, especially if a regular comes in after you do. It's convienent & fills you up with leftovers to take with you. Since its really the only place to go for breakfast, I'll keep coming back. It's not terrible, just not amazing either. read more

Clean and friendly (servers & restaurant). Generous portion of crispy crunchy hashbrowns that where moist & creamy on the inside. Four (4 chunks) of REAL bacon with substance (not see through) you could bite and not crumble. Three (3) eggs over easy = whites cooked and yellow nice and runny. English muffin with REAL butter! This place was amazing!! It seemed like it was a family run business which was great. Everyone who was working was phenomenal! Rhonda was our waitress and she was brilliant. Just listening to her with her other customers was impressive. Every customer seemed to be a regular, even if it was their first few times or first time being there. As for the food, it was great! We had brunch there and were very satisfied. The prices were very reasonable. If you haven't been to Maggie's on Meeker, I would strongly recommend going. read more

The place is old fashioned, old timey. It's like walkin into auntie or granny's kitchen. You seat yourself and they come serve you. My bf and I came by one day for brunch. I got a coffee, and a Maggie's scramble with an English muffin. My boyfriend got the biscuits and gravy. The coffee was just like coffee you'd make at home.. Before keurigs and verismos. I'd skip it next time and just hit up the bux or kona coffee down the street. I was not impressed with the scramble at all. It had mushrooms, eggs, tomatos, diced ham, onions, potatoes, cheese.... It was HUGE. The English muffin (your choice of bread/toast) was already slathered in butter. It was honestly something I could make at home, and more fit to my liking. The biscuits and gravy is butter town! The sausage and gravy were pretty good, and the biscuit was tasty but super buttery. The whole thing was what I'd expect but it was overwhelming with how thick, mushy, and buttery it was. The best part about this place is their service. The waitresses are so kind and friendly. One of them kept cracking jokes and playing around, and she asked us how we were doing and what we do in school like she genuinely cared! They make you feel good and they treat you like family. No wonder they get so many regulars! TLDR: The food is unimpressive; two stars. They have HUGE portions which is nice. The service is amazing and that's what the third star is for. They were really busy this morning. We had to wait a few minutes to be seated but the staff was friendly and they moved quickly to clear tables. The place is much bigger than it looks from the outside. The menu offers the usual breakfast fair plus a list of daily quiches. They serve big portions but the food was just ok. We've been coming to Maggie's for about a year now and I am just now leaving a review. I usually like to visit a place a couple of times before composing a review, especially with places where we have a great experience. Reason being, I like to see consistency, and Maggie's delivers. It's a cute and unique atmosphere, the wait staff is welcoming and friendly, and the food is great! Our personal favorites are the All Fruit Waffle and Maggie's Mess. The waffle comes fresh and at the right consistency. Firm, with a little bit of crisp to handle the fresh fruit and whipped cream on top. Maggie's Mess is a conglomeration of hashbrowns mixed with sausage and veggies, then topped off with their delicious gravy. We've tried other dishes here and they have all been great! From the breakfast sandwich, to the biscuits & gravy it is all delicious. Maggie's always impresses us. This is a place where the locals eat, and for good reason. read more

Maggie's has been in my bookmarks for some time now, and I'm kind of disappointed. Diners like this (hole in the wall, kind of dingy looking) are usually the best kept secret. Nottt this place. For starters, it doesn't really have a set theme/decor. They have a bunch of cute little affirmations and wood blocks with engraved quotes everywhere, so there's that... There's also a little wall decorated with fall spirit, which I thought was cute! I didn't like how... hospital feeling this place was. The harsh bright light against the very white restaurant made me feel like I was in an asylum. The service was okay - nothing out of this world and nothing awful. I ended up getting the Maggie's Mess and a cup of coffee. The coffee is just a drip, so it was good because I was able to put in my preferred cream and sugar. Just like you'd have at home! The Mess was... Mediocre. The ground sausage was kind of bland, the onions weren't cooked enough, and everything else was just "meh." Even the gravy wasn't all that great. I'm glad that I got the opportunity to try Maggie's just so that I know I'm not missing out on anything - but I know that I won't be back or rave about this place to friends/family. read more

Walking in to Maggie's on Meeker is like walking through a time warp, but in a good way. It's a skinny narrow space, lit above from commercial fluorescent lights. The heads of the patrons are almost uniformly grey or white. I'm in my mid-40s, but I felt like the youngest person there. Or I would if it wasn't for the wait staff. While they're mostly of the older, "Hello, honey," generation, there's also clearly a younger contingent, fresh out of high school. Which gets to the roots of why I have a soft spot for this place. One of the things I've noticed over the course of my life is how America seems to be segregating itself on the basis of age. I realize I'll sound old and cranky just by saying it, but when I was a kid (yikes!) it really seemed like you'd see a much broader mix in most public spaces, most of the time. So what those younger servers at Maggie's remind me of is just how friendly the place seems, and how there's a family feeling -- and you're a member. All you have to do is show up. There's no doubt why the senior set comes here. This is older breakfast cooking, of the diner / roadhouse / breakfast counter variety. And the prices are very reasonable -- usually under $10/person/meal, tax and tip included. That said, they're happy to the point of cheerfulness if you need to substitute eggbeaters, or if you want your toast dry. They've heard it before, and mostly they want you to be comfortable. If the place is crowded -- and it usually is -- and you show up by yourself, you may well be asked to share a table with another singleton. If you play your cards right, this'll be the chance to get into a conversation that's engaging and informative. So maybe that's the bottom line: Old homey food that's the very opposite of "bowling alone." read more

This is where the DH takes the girls for breakfast on the weekends and I usually stay home and sleep. But I went today - it was totally packed and they said it would be a 40 minute wait for our food (but it was only 20). They have toys for the kids to play with and are good with kids (but oddly the only thing they have for kids on the breakfast menu is a pancake - so I paid $4.50 for 1 egg, a small serving of hasbrowns and 1 pc of toast for little one........../ I could have pd $5 for an adult breakfast............) Breakfast was good - I had the Mess, Serena had the scramble and B had the chicken fried steak so for 4 breakfasts it was $47 with drinks - not cheap but it was good. Much better than Denny's or Shari's. The owner Maggie is so nice - it's definitely not my 1st choice for breakfast but the fam loves it! read more

I love Maggies. Love it. Being from Kent and living in Seattle, makes me appreciate it even more. The breakfast is always fresh, delicious and large portions (enough for two meals). The corned beef hash is my favorite, I like to order it extra crispy and it is always perfect. Their lunch menu is just as great. And to top it off, the prices cannot be beat! Plus the staff is amazing, you feel right at home. read more

Defining the mom and pop diner. Good staff and plenty of regulars that know each other by their first name. There's a Long list of menu items that are Americana staples. I've had a handful of lunches here that have been good and I always feel right about taking my business here. The chains have become so prevalent it seems like there's no soul in too many restaurants, but this place has soul. It feels a bit like visiting a family for lunch. read more

Not our fave. Not only is the atmosphere awkward as if sitting in a lunch hall at summer camp. It's an open floor plan with the kitchen refrigerators surround the walls as you dine in the middle of the room. Food was bland and over priced for breakfast. The outside curb appeal is hard to identify as a diner, along with the large amounts of homeless people hang outside. read more

This place is much larger on the inside than it looks from the outside. I have to agree with previous reviews that the service is rather slow. Breakfast was fine, but nothing to write home about. They did have a nice fruit cup, with more variety than I'm used to seeing in one. Otherwise, it was very standard breakfast fare. I don't know if it's worth the wait, but overall it was okay. read more

We have made two recent visits to Maggie's on Meeker. Wow, what as great experience each time. The first visit was on the weekend and we tried their signature quiches. Very good. Service was great and enjoyed talking with the servers. The second visit was during the week. Sadly, the quiche is a weekend thing, so I had the chicken fried steak. Being from Texas, I expect my CFS to be prepared and cooked a certain way. It's a thing, and you have to get it right to make me happy. They did it right! We will be going back. read more

I guess I should've tried the specials because a normal breakfast isn't good. I realize it's a busy place but the food didn't have any flavor and bacon wasn't crispy and potatoes not cooked through. Sourdough didn't taste like sourdough and wasn't toasted. No refills on coffee until we asked. I'm not impressed and won't return. read more

Yummm! Ate breakfast here as we were headed to an appointment in the area. This was our first time here and we will definitely be back if ever in the area again. This place is pretty big and clean. We sat ourselves as advised by the sign as you walk in. There are toys for the kiddos which I thought was so cool and thoughtful, especially since we have a very active 21 month old. The toys kept her busy! Our waitress was very friendly and prompt. I ordered the Maggie's Special which was a scramble of egg, ham, hash browns, onions, tomatoes, mushrooms and cheese. Omgeeee!!! So good and you get a nice sized portion of it. My husband got the chicken fried steak which he devoured. Thank you for the great food and service! read more

I cam here since I was looking for a mom and pop shop valentine's day which is today 2/14/2015 came in busy but not quite busy . Waiting to be attended at the door but was not so I had to stop a server and say I need table for 2 please she said ok follow me I did to are surprise there is no table where she took us so we had go back to the front to the table she was cleaning . But one of the waiters had taken it for 2 family member s of hers instead that was not in her section. And the person that was going to sit us was just going to let that waiter take the table .. then I proceeded to say no we where here befor them . So she whent and told the waiter and that waiter was upset she had to move her family that she pushed in front of other people to sit that where here befor them .as a local chef you should never do that .. it starts the service realy horribly and after waiting 10 minuets to get service to be sat down . My wife and I recently visited Maggie's on Meeker, and let me tell you, we were blown away! We both ordered the chicken fried steak, and it was absolutely divine. The hash browns were perfectly crispy, and the gravy paired excellently with the chicken fried steak. In fact, I dare say it's one of the best chicken fried steaks I've ever had. I couldn't resist eating every last bite, even though I probably shouldn't have! To top it all off, we indulged in a walnut sticky bun, and it was simply delightful. The perfect balance of sweetness and nuttiness made it a memorable treat. In my opinion, Maggie's on Meeker is one of the best breakfast spots in the area. I had their homemade Corned Beef Hash breakfast, and it's by far the best I've had in 20 years. Their fruit was very fresh, and the coffee kept coming without having to ask for refills. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak and an iced tea, the Philly cheesesteak came out piping hot and steaming, the flavors of the sandwich was great and the peppers and onions were cooked to perfection and the side thing of pickles made a great contrast for the sandwich that really put it all together, the iced tea was a tad bit bitter but nothing the sugar packets at the table couldn't fix. My husband got the farmers breakfast and substituted the biscuits and gravy for the pancakes. He said the gravy was very good and ate most of that leaving the biscuits which he said were too many. I had a Yukon omelette which was absolutely huge and I brought plenty home to have later. It was pretty good but that was the extent of being good. The hash browns were not only over done so they were far to crispy, but so much salt I couldn't eat them. the server brought my toast which was burned and I had to ask for a new piece, she should never have even brought that to the table. Service was fine, they kept our beverage glasses full but the food was just so so. Not sure its worth at trip back.

Took a long time which I would expect for how I order it thinking it was a steak but pretty egregious for a hamburger patty. They've recently painted but took down all their personal effects so it looks very clinical and awkward. Does not help they are having a severe small fly infestation so not comfortable ambiance to sit in for chatting, like their lunch lulls used to be good for. During our visit it was 'seat yourself' and a waitress came right over with menus and took our drink order. As it was early, we ordered coffee and water. Coffee is good and hot. Cream on table with salt, pepper, hot sauce and ketchup. Our beverages were brought over by another staff member, Paula, who told us our waitress would be right with us. Except she wasn't. After ten minutes I was worried. After 20 minutes I was getting concerned. Our waitress showed up shortly there after and we placed our order. Paula came around a few times refilling coffees, clearing tables and bringing checks. I wandered into their bakery area while waiting for our food, took photos, read the info there and then out to the historic bar area to check it out. You can order cakes and cheese cakes from their bakery as well as take a slice to-go, or enjoy a slice in house. Our waitress saw me there on her way into the kitchen and asked if I needed something. "No, just looking". OK then. We think our waitress was working both the kitchen and the dining room which is why she was often out of sight. So two staff in FOH with one of them helping BOH. That's a lot. She brought our food when ready plus a selectiin of jams for our english muffin. We asked for silverware which she promotly brought. The marionberry jam, a hybrid blackberry from Oregon, is excellent. The food is quite good. Corned beef hash is without a doubt made fresh. Big pieces of shredded beef with potatoes and lots of fresh spices. This hash has a zing to it. We both ordered the small portion of their corned beef so it came with one egg (instead of two) and we chose english muffin (instead of toast) and got half each (vs. a whole each). With a side of their potatoes, which were also good and plentiful, we had enough left overs for breakfast the next day. Which we also enjoyed. All told, we were in and out in one hour. Food was very good. We always had coffee. We thought our waitress was unfriendly, but she's just super busy. So five stars for holding down the dining rooms with two staff members and serving tasty, well prepared food. Paula processed our card payment. Forgot to check out the restrooms. I think they are in the last dining area (where a big business meeting of some company was going on at the time) behind the bar room.

I would say the food was okay. My omelette was made incorrectly but was not bad. The biscuits and gravy were a lot of food and was ok but the hash browns were very oily and salty. The coffee was not very good even for what I expect at a diner. Overall I would say it was a very average experience and for me nothing notable to return.
