Delicious breakfast spot! We went to Maggie's on a Thursday morning and didn't find parking in front, but found a spot around back fairly easily. Our server was very pleasant, friendly and attentive without being intrusive. I ordered the biscuits and gravy- and was pleased to see that they offer a half order. It was good...really good...the biscuits were browned on the griddle for that crispy texture that takes biscuits and gravy to another level and the dish was served with crispy/soft hash browns. The gravy was peppery and loaded with sausage. The build-your-own omelet that my companion ordered looked delicious and by all reports did not disappoint. Prices were very reasonable and the coffee was a good dark roast. Try Maggie's if your looking for a place in the area. I think you'll walk away pleased, and full! read more

Your very basic dinner in the heart of kent. The service was good and it was fairly clean but my breakfast came so soon I could tell right off the bat it wasn't going to be amazing. The omelet was ok, I had mushrooms and bacon but the bacon was clearly precooked and the mushrooms canned which makes me sad. The cheese was barely melted and the hash browns were kinda raw in the middle. I would have preferred to have waited 10 more minutes and gotten the real deal. That said, I've had worse breakfasts and they did have free WiFi. Next time I'd probably search out another spot but they'll be fine, there was a solid group of locals you can tell come in on the daily to keep their doors open. read more

They dropped a large plate for Maggie's Mess which was filled with hash browns, chopped sausage with onions and gravy on top. The hash brown had some crisp and the sausage tasted good with the sauteed onions and gravy. The biscuits are made in house and grilled enough to crisp the edges and melt the butter. The house corn beef hash was a side dish, but the serving was large enough to be a platter. It has chunks of corned beef, chunks of potatoes, chunks of grilled onions and peppers. Definitely filling. A very local place that is no frills, good friendly service, and heaps of food. They serve both breakfast and lunch all day, but they close early. Plenty of seating and pretty fast in terms of preparing the food. Come hungry. Recommended for the voracious. read more

We wanted to try out this local spot since we somehow tend to keep gravitating toward chain restaurants and I'm glad we did! We strolled in around 10am on a Sunday and the place was pretty packed. You're asked to seat yourself and we had to walk all the way to the back room to find an open table. Actually, seating was plentiful back there. If you were to go to an IHOP around this time on a Sunday, you would probably be waiting for awhile. As we walked back, none of the employees greeted us. Even as we sat down and got settled there were a couple of people in our immediate vicinity and still not a word. It took a few more minutes and then someone arrived with water and menus. Less than five minutes later, someone came to take our order. We have some food allergies so we asked about some ingredients in the dishes and the server went back to the kitchen to confirm. I'm glad they double checked. We ordered Maggie's Mess and French Toast. Judging by the number of photos of the Mess on Yelp, I figured that would be a good choice. It was! This dish is made up of hash browns, sautéed onions, sausage, and gravy. The hash browns were cooked perfectly. There was good crisp to them. I was kind of expecting there to be a ton of gravy but there wasn't. It was a thin layer, just enough to cover most of the food but no so much that it was overwhelming. It made it really easy to stir up the food so every bite had some gravy goodness. My wife enjoyed it much more than her French toast. As for the French toast, it received neutral feedback from my wife. It looked like some of the bread was hard. Service wasn't great but not really horrible. This is the main reason for knocking off a star. I compare it to a pho restaurant. You walk in, give your order, get your food, and pay your bill. Maybe just a random occurrence. Either way it's not enough to deter me from coming back. I can live with that. read more

I wanted to love this place, but it just didn't happen. I love an excellent, homemade corned beef hash, and will pay a premium price for it (see Geraldine's Counter), so I ordered their much-touted version. It was really good, but not great, and at $14 I expected spectacular. The hash was a bit soggy, with no crispy bits. The poached eggs were tiny, as if most of them stayed in the water, and not well executed yolk-wise. The toast was limp and awful. I might go back and try one of their less-ambitious, basic choices (pancakes, omelettes) as they were very well priced. I've been here 3 times, and each time the food was bland, and the service was below expectation. From room temperature hot chocolates, to food with absolutely no flavor. The wait staff will ignore you until they "get around to it". Not just waiting at the door, but you will wait at your table 10-15 minuets between sit down and when they take your order. Was hungry for breakfast so stopped by Maggies. The place was about 1/3 filled so I just grabbed a seat and was quickly waited on. I ordered coffee, "He Man" three eggs, 1/2 sausage patty, 1/2 ham steak, two bacon strips and a single French Toast. They actually served me a full sausage patty when it arrived. The portion is large and was good. The scramble eggs were over cooked so it was dry. French toast was disappointing because it was cold. My toast that came with He Man was warmer than the French toast and I only put a little of the syrup on the French toast. I would try this place again and will order something different next time. The staff are friendly & attentive even when just one server - Michelle is impressive. It was such a pleasant surprise to stumble upon Maggie's. I work just a few blocks away, so naturally, it was a great option for brunch with coworkers. Maggie's brings me back to eating at diners when I was a child. Its a classic vibe, with super sweet staff, and the menu items are all of the staples you could want. You can't go wrong.
