Please do not confuse them with a high-end audio shop. I did and regret it. Paid in full in January for a very nice (McIntosh, Pro-ject) system. Advisor seemed knowledgeable enough, but after paying in full (over $16,000) they couldn't get it to work properly for almost seven months (yes, not days, not weeks, but months). First was a faulty balanced cable, that they promised monthly was on its way but never arrived. When it did, the techs they sent in August had no clue how to balance/set the very system Magnolia had sold me (and charged $1,500 to install). By then the original advisor had left and the new one promised to put me in touch with Pro-Ject's techs. He didn't and I had to track them down myself. Really? And no offer of a discount, credit, even apology. I asked at one point three months in for a refund of the cable while they found another and they refused. In short, once they have your money they forget who you are. No customer service AT ALL. Ending on a nice note, now that I have figured it out on my own, it's sounds AMAZING. Worst service provider since Miele. They waste your time and take your money. They promise to revisit and "complete" or fix the partially working mess, but never do. When asked why, they respond with the question of "really, no one called you yet? They should have." No kidding. Should change their name to Wait for Godot AV. If you're tempted to, don't do it. Plenty of others will lie to you for free. You will lose 10's of hours of your life and it will never work. And they don't care. If Best Buy is smart, they'll dump this unit. Magnolia is the worst. Yesterday, I walked into Best Buy and asked them to reprogram my Universal Remote. The fellow told me no, it's too old. The cable that fits into my remote won't fit into their laptops. The only solution would be for me to buy a new remote for $550. I went home, tried Angie's List, and a very nice man named Shawn came to my house today and reprogrammed my remote for a very reasonable price. Duh... Several years ago, when I moved into my house, I engaged Magnolia to integrate my home theatre equipment. It was a nightmare. Before the job was finished, they had to send 3 different technicians on separate days, one of whom went home with an important piece of my sound system! When I noticed and called Magnolia, they had to ship it back to me because the guy lived too for away. By the time the job was done, which took over a month, I knew never to hire these people again. Nothwithstanding no fault by Tommy and Zeke, there were a number of unforseen problems, they not only took care of everything but did it patiently, cheerfully, and tested and re tested everything to be sure that I would have no problems. I purchased an audio and video/theater system from Magnolia about a year ago. I spent approximately $2500. I was generally happy with the final product. That said, months later when I had a glitch with the system, Magnolia was virtually impossible to reach. I put in multiple calls, emails, text messages to get someone to respond and help me fix my broken system. They were completely unresponsive. I have been a customer of Magnolia for over 5 years. Originally I went there to buy a Smart TV as I needed one, as my old one was not. Ethan Davis helped me. I asked him a lot of questions because I wanted a TV that would last and not have to be upgraded every 5 years with all the bells and whistles. Also, my hearing is slightly impaired and I wear hearing aids so I wanted a TV that had a good sound system. Ethan found the perfect TV for me that fit all my needs and was reasonably priced. But why I remembered him was because after i bought the TV and he had already received his commission, I had all sorts of questions and called him for the next three months or so when ever I didn't understand something. He took every call and treated me with respect, patience and kindness. I never felt like I was bothering him (though I'm sure I was). He was a man that genuinely loved his job and liked helping people and took pride in his work. So five years later, when I was having a streaming problem I went back to Magnolia thinking I had to buy another TV and upgrade again. I was pleased that he was still there and he remembered me. He told me that before I buy a new TV for my living room, he wanted to come out to my place to give me a free consultation to see what my best options were. Again, he spent all kinds of time with me, showed me what I needed, and supervised the entire process which was involved. My condo is situated in such a way, that the wiring required a new system in order for me to stream the channels I like and movies on Netflix, Amazon and Hulu. It was a very involved ordeal and he supervised and managed everything for me. He knew it was over my head, and he made it so easy for me. Ethan Davis is one man that makes sure when you purchase a product from him, you are completely happy with your purchase and he is not satisfied until you are. He cares and he is also very talented and knowledgeable about the products he sells. Ethan is a great representative for Magnolia and they are lucky to have him. BE AWARE of this bussiness, in 2016 I bought a Sony TV 75" ...I did paid more than 4800 dollars and I brought the proteccion plan: After 1 year we start having sluggish problems with this TV the geek squad went home to try to fix the poblem , they replaced the processor and a lot of stuff...and when I say a lot I mean a lot of stuff and parts that we got thru mail but after too many attempts they couldn't figure out the issue, Is been several times (like 8 times) and I been dealing with this problem since then. The warranty is almost expired (5 year) and still I have the same issues...MAGNOLIA BLAMES Geek Squad for this problem but they have the "POWER" to just give me the choose to get a different tv but I talked to the manager Tom Gillese and this guy doesn't help me at all...telling me that I have to call and get and appointment again from geek squad because they don approved the lemon law for my tv after that many attempts... and BS is the only answer I got from magnolia and his managers .... read more

This is my first Yelp review in years, but I feel compelled because of my outstanding experience at West LA's Magnolia Design Center. First, what I learned is (and everyone should know) that the Design Center is not just part of Best Buy. It's above and beyond. And the sales staff at Design Center are not The Geek Squad. They are above and beyond. There's a big difference between Magnolia's Home Theater Centers (in most Best Buys) and the Design Center. I think there are only two Design Centers in the entire Los Angeles area. My goal was to upgrade my living room into a state of the art home theater system - with a new TV and surround sound audio. I had my budget, which wasn't that big. But I required high quality picture and sound. My experience started with Marcos Perez, Magnolia's manager, who talked me through the TV options that would deliver my requirements. I chose my TV (Sony 65" 4K). Then Marcos handed me over to Ethan Davis, Magnolia's System Designer, who crafted a detailed audio equipment plan to meet my needs. Over the next few weeks, Ethan had an informed answer to every question I asked him. He emailed me back every time. And on two occasions, he notified me of a price drop in equipment, making sure that I received Best Buy's famed Price Match Guarantee. The installation went seamlessly, and the installers were very professional. In addition, Ethan and his team checked in with me for a 30-day inquiry. AND they will check in with me six months later! What store does that nowadays?! Bottom line: West LA's Design Center is not just good customer service, it's an awesome CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE. It's all worth it! read more

My husband and I went to Magnolia on Pico to learn about a new universal remote system to upgrade to for our home. When we moved into our home a few years ago there was a Crestron system already installed by a small AV company and we have had many issues with it. The AV company recently went out of business and we were really frustrated because it never really worked well. Once in Magnolia we were approached by Ethan. He seemed very knowledgeable about the systems available and showed us a demo of Control 4 in their family room. He offered to do a consultation later in the week. Once Ethan arrived at our place with his installation manager, they surveyed the home and recommended some really good ideas. They gave us a pricing proposal in our home with a budget that was reasonable. After comparing with another company that had similar pricing we decided to go with Magnolia. The 2 day installation went really well and we are really happy we can control our TVs and music in our home from our phones ! Also the follow up service has been really good. I met Ethan at the Magnolia Design Center and talked to him about replacing most of my AV system. He came to my house and gave me great recommendations for new equipment, which my research confirmed. He was extremely knowledgeable, easy to work with, quickly responded to my texts, emails and calls and resolved all my issues. His pricing for the equipment was good and gave me the benefit of reduced pricing that went into effect just before the installation. He came to my house after the installation to make sure everything was running smoothly. Above all, Ethan made the process go as smoothly as possible. The installers, Geo and Jay, did a terrific job on what was a complex installation, including running new cables under the house. They arrived on time, worked hard (past six pm the first day and finished just before six pm the second day), knew what they were doing and answered all my questions. They kept the area clean and were very respectful so as not to damage anything in the house. The next day I texted Geo a question and he responded quickly. Geo and Jay worked well as a team. Stay away from Magnolia. This place is a complete DISASTER. There is no one in charge and there is absolutely no organization. It's okay to go in and just buy a TV set but nothing beyond that. I purchased an expensive home automation system from Magnolia two years ago and they are still struggling to complete the job. I pre-paid for the entire project which I should not have done. There have been numerous lengthy delays and broken promises. No one returns your phone calls and there is no one in charge whom you could speak to. Magnolia Design Center has given me some of the very best service I have ever received from any store. I just recently purchased the BOSE Soundtouch 300 soundbar and associated sub from Fry's Electronics and had an inkling that possible the Martin Logan Vision soundbar would be better. I contacted Magnolia and the manager, Marcel, gave a very thorough review of the pros and cons of both systems. He convinced me of getting the Martin Logan Soundbar and when I went to pick it up he demoed the soundbar for me, showed me how to connected it to Martin Logan's subwoofer and gave me a $100 discount with the purchase of the soundbar and subwoofer together. I put it on in my living room and it is glorious! Would go here for any technical audiophile needs. Marcel and the Magnolia team were exceptional. read more

I purchased a TV and surround sound system from Magnolia almost a year ago. We also purchased the warranty and were assured that if there was any problems we could get a replacement immediately with no problems. To our dismay, it has been 4 months now that we have been trying to get our surround sound system either fixed or replaced. We have visited Magnolia 4 times and each time we have been assured that they will rectify the problem but never do anything. The last time we were there the manager said our speaker was being repaired and he would call us in 2 weeks. It has been 3 1/2 weeks and still no call. When I called the manager it was obvious he had done nothing to help us. I have been patient and polite and it has got me nowhere. I have never given anyone a negative review before, but then again I have never had such difficulties with a business before. I would rate them 0 if I could. read more

After most attempts to solve my situation peacefully, I end up testify on Yelp of the poor long term experience with Magnolia. Their sale staff is pretty knowledgeable and skilled. So their advices in term of sales are useful and relevant. I bought in total for more than $50K of equipment and installation services for a new home cinema theater for my house. Their installation process was "quite" effective too. I say quite because they had to come back several times to finish the installation. My projector and everything else were working fine for about a year and a half with no problems. After that projector started to bug from time to time (JVC DLAX70R). After more recurring problems I finally decided to call for help before warranty would expire. They took the projector back and sent it to JVC. After 2,5 months (yes you read right), and many phone calls to remind them of me, they finally came back with the projector repaired. When the tech installed it (after 1h), he told me the projector is still defective. I got depressed at this moment. So projector came back to Magnolia then JVC supposedly. They told me they will either repair it or refund the projector so I can buy a new one. After 4 months since Magnolia took the projector the first time, problem is still not solved, they wouldn't give us a loaner in the meantime so we can enjoy the room, they keep saying it will come soon, ... So I spend around $50K for a home theater room I cannot even use because we have no picture... The tech team is the worst (Ben is the guy who never calls back and answer texts). Sales team (Anthony, Patrick) keep saying Ben will call me, Ben will schedule an installation, Ben this, Ben that... But nothing happens and we still cannot watch a movie after 4 months! If I would buy my equipment at Best Buy, I would almost accept the situation because they do volume, not service. But Magnolia is supposed to be the high end division of Best Buy. Unfortunately technical support is as bad as it could be. If you want good service, you should go somewhere else... Really... read more

What can I say about this place. Its probably the best place to go to to expand your dreams. If you dream it, the people at Magnolia can make it happen. All the sales associates know what they are doing. They don't sell to you like majority of salesmen do just to make a commission. These guys truthfully care about home theater and want everyone to experience great home theater at even a low price. I have personally taken my system and turned it into an amazing one. To the point that I know have my own personal movie theater in my home. With the best sound and picture, and this is all thanks to the guys at Magnolia Design Center at the West LA Best Buy. And if anyone thinks that cables don't make a difference, trust me they really do. Big plus for having Magnolia introducing me to Audio Quest cables. read more

I spent about $3,000 with Magnolia (at Best Buy) to install my theater and home audio system. They were fine at first, and the system worked fine (after a couple visits). However, after about 18 months my system stopped working, but I was pretty confident it was a simple fix. So, i called Magnolia for help, but it was impossible to get Magnolia to return my call. I left voicemails, text messages and emails, hoping to get my system up and running again. I was clear in my messages that i was happy to pay them, but they were entirely unresponsive. I now need to find a new dealer that can fix the problem. Very disappointed. Please do NOT expect them to be responsive after you have forked over the initial money for the system. read more

I used Magnolia to buy and install a home theater audio system when I was remodeling my house roughly 2 years ago. I'm not sure what sort of complicated mess they made here. To get any sound out of my audio system I have to turn on the TV, turn on the audio system, switch audio output to TV speakers, then switch back audio output to theater system. Otherwise the TV runs without sound. Also, occasionally, the whole system will sporadically mute itself, and will not un-mute unless I restart the whole system (takes 2-3 minutes). To boot, it was an expensive set up. I'd look elsewhere. read more

I love it - just put in large smartTV with appleTV and connected to all the speakers throughout the house. I can now operate everything from my iPhone (and even see old YouTube videos of my boys on the big screen - they're now 10 and 7 years old so it's the sweetest thing to see the old videos big and hear their voices). Also they can now play their music playlists via the iPad. Amazing!!! Ethan at Magnolia was incredible from start to finish - from decision-making and purchase through installation and my learning curve of figuring out how to operate all the features. I'm so excited! If you need to shop at Magnolia, go to the one in West Hollywood (LaBrea & Santa Monica). The service and selection is much better. The salespeople at the Pico/W. LA location are unprofessional and lack any customer/people skills. I went there in November to purchase a TV, the Asian guy there walked me over to the Best Buy associate and told me I should go home and order it online - he would not take my order. So I went to Audio Video Center for my TV. I have been back several times since then, and each time I walk in, there are several sales people talking to each other - no one asks if I needed any help. Bought a second TV a couple of weeks ago, but not from this location. Go in an check out what you want if you live close by, then go to the LaBrea/Santa Monica store to make your purchase - better selection, much better service.
