    Pineapple Curry fried rice

This place was so cute! The food was so delicious and flavorful. The spice level was perfect. I got a 2 and it had a good kick but not over powering. If you get a 5 be careful! The servers were so kind and they helped me with the menu since it was my first time. The restaurant ambience was a little off though. I would have loved if they played some music and dimmed the lights. It looks like it used to be some kind of doctor's office and the lighting was throwing me off. It was also awkwardly quiet lol. Some music would do the trick!

Excellent curry and service at this new location of Mai Thai! The ambience is a bit like you're sitting in a fish bowl. This may be why there was a steady stream of pick up orders coming in and out during our visit. We all enjoyed our entrees: tom soup, fried rice, spring rolls, egg rolls (veggie and chicken), and the green curry. We will be back to try more dishes, or maybe have it delivered. ;)

I haven't been here since they've changed locations. Just as good as ever. I had the pad see ew. Ordered level 5 on the spicy scale. So delicious. We also had the spicy edename. Also very good. My grandson had the kids chicken fried rice and there was so much he had to take some home. Another great meal!

Food is okay. Not the greatest but it's good for a quick meal. It's close to the house so we go every so often

Hubby had their specialty - Khao Soi, a yellow curry broth with noodles, veggies and protein of your choice. He got the seafood and said it was delicious. The service we received was A+ - friendly and helpful. We've finally found our Thai place in Fort Worth. When dining to the restaurant, they have recently changed their name to "Thai Zen" and the Street Sign says "Thai Zen by Thai Terrace." Thai Zen is still owned by the same folks, so if you liked Thai Terrace, keep going back! The dining room is cozy and bright with several lovely booth spaces to keep your dining experience a little more private.

While the bahn mi isn't exactly traditional, it is still very good -- I'd highly suggest getting it with the pate. The sampler appetizer has a little bit of everything and is great for sharing. Pineapple fried rice was delicious. Pad Thai also great! If you're a spicy eater like me, just go for very spicy. They have 4 spice levels (mild, medium, spicy, very spicy) and this is a reminder to myself to get very spicy next time. Thanks for the delicious meals!

A quick note on seating: the patio is lovely in theory, with the optional open windows and a breezy feel, but the chairs are not winning any comfort awards. Inside booths are the move. Also worth noting, this is Fort Worth, and once the thermometer hits triple digits, the patio conversation ends itself if the windows are open. Plan accordingly. Malai starts every table with steamed sticky rice and an eggplant dip, which is a charming little ritual and a genuinely good one. We also kicked things off with the Edamame, a heads up on the heat level there, and the Fried Imperial Rolls, filled with ground pork and shrimp and served with a sesame soy sauce. Fair warning: these do not photograph well and arrive at the table looking a little shy. Don't be fooled. They're flavorful, subtly spicy, and well worth ordering. For entrees, we tried the Basil Vegetable Fried Rice two ways, one vegan and one with chicken. The vegan version was a genuine surprise, with vegetables cooked just right and a flavor that didn't need the chicken to make its case. The mushrooms, however, had the texture of something you'd find in a hardware store. Chew at your own risk. The Green Curry, meanwhile, was a case of too much of a good thing. The curry was so heavy-handed it drowned everything underneath it. Sometimes restraint is a virtue. Save room for the Banana Pot de Crème. It's creamy, subtly sweet, and a graceful finish to the meal. The service at Malai is enthusiastic, and I do mean enthusiastic. The staff works as a team, all smiles, attentive, always nearby. Occasionally a little too nearby. More than once a plate nearly disappeared before we were done with it. It's a small complaint, and honestly a far better problem than the alternative. They're warm, cheerful, and clearly enjoy what they do, which goes a long way. Portions are generous, so order a few dishes and share the wealth. For a lunch stop between shops, Malai Kitchen punches well above its weight.
