We were looking for a brunch spot, and I knew they had awesome baked goods... And with enticing brunch menu, we decided to dine here. The inside was a bit larger than it looked from outside. I really loved the bright blue and crisp white, with lots if vibrant greens inside. They have the baked goods and baristas at front by the door. The ones who just want to order things to go can come in, order, pick up, and go. The best way to try some of their best baked goods is to order the Pastry Assortment. You get three or even four (if you are lucky) baked goods in a basket. You can only order this if you are dining in. Our basket contained a huge cookie to die for, flakey chocolate croissant, and super plump croissant. To go with the pastries, we ordered special coffee of the day, which was Pistachio White Chocolate Cappuccino. They must have a sorcerer of some kind to offer a cappuccino that has all of my favorite! The server did not bring any sugar, but since we like our coffee without sugar, it was ok... The coffee was very creamy! It had a nice amount of small pistachio chunks! For "real" food, we ordered Maman's Breakfast Sandwich and Eggs Ratatouille. I have a not-so-secret love affair with breakfast sandwiches so, I was excited to try it. The egg was cooked just right, with creamy avocado, crunchy buns, and bacon jam packed with bacon! So good!! My hubby who is more of a Shakshuka kind of guy, went with something similar to that. Eggs Ratatouille was packed with veggies and had a little kick to it, which was nice. Packed with so much flavor! I had the smoked salmon on sourdough and really enjoyed it. The lemon whipped cheese added so much to the flavor. I also had a latte which was delicous! I loved the ambience of this cute little cafe. The only downside is how small the space is and how crowded it was (which tells you how popular it is). We were lucky enough to get a table, but there was hardly room to walk between the tables. Everything about this place was so cute! I loved the decor, the plates, etc. It's not a HUGE store but it was seriously popping on a Wednesday morning to my surprise. For drink, I got the Honey Lavender Latte w Oat Milk that came in a mason jar. It was yummy :) For food, I got the Gabriela's Farro Tabbouleh per my friend's recommendation and it was good! My friend saw something online about how Maman's chocolate chip cookies rival Levain's. Now that I've had the chance to try it, let me tell you, it is absolutely true. The cookies are crispy on the outside, soft and gooey on the inside, perfectly chocolatey without being overly sweet (thanks to the addition of various nuts), and goes soooo well with a cup of coffee. I will say confidently that Maman's makes the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had. In addition to the baked goods and coffee, Maman's also has a decent breakfast and lunch menus. We had the Croque Maman ($16) and Maman's Rabbit's Hole ($13), both of which were really tasty and came with side salads. The decor here is also really lovely and perfect for a coffee date or catch-up with friends. Only thing I didn't love was our server, who seemed rushed and was a bit pushy. She came up to us as soon as we sat down and insisted we look at the menu and be ready with our orders when she returned. She also brought us our check before we asked for it. After she swiped my credit card and turned the POS system to me to select a tip amount, I selected the tip, and she immediately flipped the machine back to her to look at what I selected instead of letting me finalize the payment. It was abrasive and unprofessional. Shortly after we paid, we saw her carrying a bag and leaving the cafe, so I guess she was in a rush to wrap up her shift. Came here for a quick coffee date with my friend and was so pleasantly surprised. The decorations are SO CUTE it made me feel like I was in Paris and they even have a $5 off for first time visitors. We didn't get any food but the menu was super extended, the omelettes and bowls smelled amazing, and they kept bringing out fresh croissants and other pastries. I definitely want to come back! My friend and I visited this location on a Thursday morning around 10am and inside was very packed. If you want to order to go, you can order at the front. If you want to dine inside, there's another order area straight inside the cafe. We dined so we walked straight to the end and waited for a very long time to get orders in as no one was at the kiosk. Tables are first come first serve so grab a table to make sure you have a place to sit and eat. So far I've been digging their pastries for takeout, since I'm not a fan of breakfast food which seems to be their other thing. I've had: Pumpkin carrot cake: this was very good. Super moist, although it tasted more like carrot cake and not so much pumpkin. Pistachio chocolate croissant: this is really good. I don't usually like pistachio flavored things but I'd highly recommend this! Peppermint crunch cookie: hands down the best thing I've had here. It's like a giant peppermint patty in cookie form. Nutella brownie: this was pretty dry, it might have been sitting out for a day or two. It was meh, I didn't end up finishing it. Blueberry lavender loaf: also very dry. Wouldn't recommend. The moment you walk into the door, you can tell they take their coffee very seriously, protecting the espresso machine like it's gold. Even signs exist inside showing all the proper versions of coffee. During an ordinary world, I could see the experience of eating/drinking inside being quite magical. The walls are finely decorated and the vibe feels like Europe in the 1800s (I would imagine!). This has to be the cutest cafe in the city! I heard about their cookies from Oprah's Favorite Things, but didn't realize they served food. My husband and I had a staycation in the city and were in search for breakfast. Thanks to fellow Yelpers, we decided to check this place out. They have a few tables outside in a cute outdoor setting. I got the Eggs Ratatouille, he got the Maman's Breakfast Sandwich and we shared the kale and butternut squash quiche. Everything was delicious and you can tell all their ingredients were super fresh. The breakfast sandwich was savory but had a hint of sweetness. The ratatouille was hearty and went perfectly with their crusty bread. We were also surprised by the quiche. It was so creamy and flavorful, yet light. It was so good, we ended up coming back today with our kids for breakfast. It was even better! The Danielle Sandwich was amazing! This sandwich could turn me into a vegetarian lol. My son liked the Truffled Croque Maman, but I found it too rich. Oh and the pastries are wonderful as well. Their croissants are flaky and buttery. The omelette was good, it came with mixed greens with balsamic dressing. The balsamic tasted like they added a bit too much of Dijon mustard, a bit overwhelming for me. The ham and cheese croissant was pretty average, I wouldn't get it again though. I was actually quite surprised about the marzipan buttercream latte. It wasn't too sweet as I anticipated. I would definitely come back to try other items or just grab something quick. I really really like their ceramic mugs, if they only sell them as merchandise! Absolutely love the aesthetic of the cafe. There are multiple locations spread out through the city and all of them have beautiful interior inside. The flatiron location does get quite busy so if you're planning to sit down and dine I recommend coming early. As for the food all their dishes are very reasonably price in my opinion and honestly pretty affordable considering city prices. I found Maman from a Google search of independent, craft coffee shops close to my hotel. I love a French café and patisserie, and I saw that it was a convenient 6 minute walk. I arrived at Maman around 8:30am on a Sunday. It surprisingly wasn't too busy at the time, so I was able to get my pastries and coffee in no time. I got a honey lavender latte with oatmilk and extra shot, which was exactly what I needed this morning. The lavender flavor was pronounced yet not overpowering. It also had the perfect amount of sweetness. I tried many desserts and pastries over my trip in NYC, and I will go as far to say that Maman had some of THE BEST sweets I've had all weekend. I had the pleasure of trying the pistachio chocolate croissant, nutella beignet, and hazelnut dulce de leché croissant. They were all great in their own right, but the pistachio chocolate croissant was by far my favorite. I straight up devoured it on my walk back to the hotel and left no trail of crumbs on the way. The croissant was flaky and buttery. In addition to the chocolate filling, it also had a pistachio bavarian-like cream in the center. It was just so divine. The hazelnut dulce de leché croissant was runner up, and this was incredible as well. It was a denser croissant. It was messier to eat because of the hazelnut dulce de leché piping on top, but that cream made it all so worth it. Last but certainly not least, the nutella beignet. I did enjoy it, but I thought it was the most basic among the 3 pastries. The beignet had the typical yeast donut type of texture, and the nutella filling was satisfying.
