It was busy with tourists in the area, given its proximity to Times Square. I inquired about whether you sit down first or order first and the person at the counter said you can order first. However, since I was waiting for my friend and looking around for seats, I ended up snagging a table so that we had somewhere to sit. I ordered the papa's breakfast plate - it was filling. I swapped in scrambled egg instead of the sunny egg. There was some sparse roasted kale, avocado, bacon and some chopped up potatoes (I mostly left these uneaten). I had a chamomile/lemon tea. This came out to about $23. I cannot say this was worth it but it was a casual place to dine and centrally located. Close to the F/7 train by Bryant Park or a myriad of trains at 42nd Street Times Square. Also we were chatting for a while, and no one hassled us, so that was good. read more

My family and I love Maman. My daughter and I stopped by on a weekday morning to get drinks and some pastries. The person who took our order was very pleasant and welcoming. We got the classic chocolate chip cookie and the Martha's creme brûlée bun. Both were great. However, our drinks took forever. No one else got a drink during our whole wait even though there were people ahead of us, so I wasn't sure why our drinks took so long. I got a blueberry caramel latte. It didn't taste anything like what it's supposed to (I've had it at another Maman) and there were espresso grounds at the bottom of the cup. I was genuinely surprised but how good the treats and coffee were here! Initially I picked the pineapple coconut croissant cube based on how pretty it looked but it was spot on with flavor and texture. The layers of the cube were crusty on the outside and pulled apart really easily to reveal a creamy pineapple-coconut cream that was lightly sweet and didn't leave a residue in my mouth after I ate it. The very top was piped with meringue and dotted with some preserves that were also bright and pineapple-y. There was so much textural variation that it was actually a ton of fun to eat! Paired this with an iced americano that was perfect. They use a nice strong espresso blend and whoever made the drinks knew the perfect amount of water to add. I had just stopped in here while waiting for a restaurant nearby but based off this experience will definitely be back to try more of the menu. read more

We got through the line pretty quickly, and were able to get a seat at the communal table. Do know that they don't allow laptops here (a woman near us was told to put hers away). I love the charming blue and white porcelain they use here. I ordered a mocha with oat milk which was absolutely divine! The pain au chocolat could've been more buttery and fluffy for me, but was still yummy. I enjoyed the Maman breakfast sandwich I got. The bacon jam was a little too sweet for my liking and I would've preferred if they were more generous with the avocado, but still liked the sandwich. The egg was perfect (love when the yolk explodes like that). My partner found his quiche Emily to be ok. Glad we stopped by Maman. Fun to see a chain we didn't have in town. Service was a hot mess here. You wait in line to order, which took a bit. We ordered a pastry, a scone heated, and some hot breakfast. My iced coffee was only filled 2/3 of the cup. The croissant was probably one of the best things here, even as a cube form. I was surprised that it still wasn't too dry and had a nice amount of filling. My mom's potato's came out completely cold and unsalted but she did enjoy her breakfast bowl. We waited over 30 minutes for my scone- my mom had finished her meal and I my coffee by the time it came out. When I tried to flag someone down to ask them about it, they still took another 10 minutes to come by with it. Got back to NYC again sooner than I thought I would - and made sure to come right back to THIS Bryant Park maman location. Love this particular location because of how chill, calming, boho and inviting the interior decor is here. We came here twice during our 4-day trip. This trip, we discovered the bibiane's turkey sandwich $17 - delicious flavor combo of ingredients and hearty and big enough to share if you're not ravenous. One thing I wish they would do is sell bags of chips to go with their sandwiches. They offer nothing as a side for their sandwiches. And then of COURSE you absolutely must make room for a pastry (or two or three or...!!) - but seriously. Their pastries are too hard to ignore. So save your appetite for a sweet treat even if you have to share one because you're too full from your meal. Last visit, my favorite was the pistachio croissant. This visit, I discovered the very beautiful and colorful rhubarb pastry (see my pics). JUST GORGEOUS (I hated to cut into it, it was like a piece of art!) and not too sweet! Definitely shareable.
