A recurring problem that I have at every location that I visit is that the vegetables are always served lukewarm or less than lukewarm which is disgusting! No one wants to eat cold potatoes and cold gravy it is beyond unappetizing! Even when I asked for my plate to be warmed up it was still returned to me only slightly warmer than lukewarm. Like who wants to eat their food like that? Even my chicken fried chicken which should've been fresh out of the grease was lukewarm. I am not happy with this location or the other ones that I've been to like the one on 75 or the one in Irving. The one I've never really had any problems with is the original one in Dallas off of Irving Boulevard/Riverfront. read more

Should be zero stars as service stinks and food sucks. Waitress snapped at my wife saying what does she want. Never checked on us or asked how everything was and if we wanted desert just left off bill. Okra bot crispy, potatoes likely instant and meatloaf average. Bathroom disgusting. read more

Tried this for breakfast last weekend. Basic breakfast offerings, as in eggs, pancakes, omelettes, etc. Nothing out of the ordinary or original. We had the denver omlette and one that came with chicken fried steak. Same ole menu I'm used to seeing anywhere, but it's the execution that makes this place special. The biscuits are moist and fluffy. The eggs are just right. The hash browns have to be the best I've ever had. Crispy on the outside and tender, moist goodness on the inside. Very good breakfast, I'd go back. read more

Beware of To Go order portions! A few weeks ago, this location changed their policy to smaller servings, but kept the same price. Deceitful to say the least. If you order To Go, be sure to check the order. Restaurant owners shouldn't expect their customers to cover their cost of food and labor, but not serve an appropriate portion. Either you can afford to own a business or close it! read more

This place seemed really cool but they scammed me. My husband and I went to have lunch. Paid $30 that was tip included. It was surprisingly to see the bank process the pending transaction to $80 afterwards. This issue still hasn't been resolved and it occurred in March 2019. Protip: Keep your receipt from here - even though that didn't help our case lol. Whoever is in charge of collecting debt/credit card tips got a sticky finger read more

Many people at my job have raves about this place so today I thought to try it out with my daughter & sister. The food- Disappointing, tasteless and boring. My 9 year old says "it wasn't bad but it wasn't good either." My sister ordered dressing and yams... "they tried it." Yams were straight out of the can (Bruce makes better yams). The diner is old... has a scent but the bathroom is VERY clean. read more

The food was ok. Nothing terrible but not anything to write about. They were very short handed which was not the fault of our server but she was definitely in the weeds. Customers left before getting their food and some left before getting their drinks. read more

Server stated there was a Shortage of staff so there were no drink refills our entire meal and what was brought out was very slow. Server was less than warm and fuzzy and boarderline rude. Hash browns were crispy on top but complete mush and bland in flavor. read more

Stopped by here after Sunday service and it was okay. It was definitely a very "diner like" environment. We sat at the bar top so we can watch the Cowboys while we eat. Although the wait staff wasn't very quick to serve us when we first sat down, our food came out really fast. His - Chicken Fried steak with green beans, mashed potatoes, and fried okra (Sunday Special). The chicken fried steak was mediocre. It was small, not crispy, and just splattered with gravy. The sides however were good. The rolls were a lot better than the biscuits. Hers - Mama's Favorite breakfast with 2 over medium eggs, hash browns, biscuits with sausage gravy, and 2 sausage patties. Everything was pretty good but nothing "amazed" us. read more

no-frills brunch with some southern retro charm. cheesy quotes, neon signage, decoupaged tables, and a black and white checkered tile floor all take you back in time. it's your archetypal diner -- or at least the closest thing to such in west plano. and i love it! the start of some of the best weeks i had during my teenage years were marked by a sunday brunch here, whether in church clothes after mass with my family or in sweats the morning after sleepovers with my friends...ah, nostalgia!!! homemade eggs, good coffee. an easy peasy option. read more

Ok so I tried it again. I ordered chicken fried steak, mash with gravy, sweet potatos, and a side of dressing. Unfortunately, it was soooooo underwhelming. The steak was good but the rest was barely edible. The gravy was runny which made the potatos watery, sweet potatoes were not sweet, and the dressing was not my taste but dressing varies on how its made so no worries there. However, the steak was pretty good with cornbread muffins so I wasn't left hanging! Due to this being my 2nd time I won't be back, but ot may be a fit for someone else! read more

I was looking for a good place for brunch on Saturday afternoon and seeing the reviews on yelp, I decided on Mama's Daughter's Diner. My decision was also finalized because the location is close to my work and im on a tight budget. I arrived solo at 1pm. There wasn't to many ppl dining at all. I think I missed the breakfast crowd. I waited a couple minutes and was sat. Service was accurate with my order, prompt, and friendly! I was a little pressed for time so I quickly decided on the Mama Daughter Special (#2 on the breakfast menu I believe). It includes 2 eggs, 2 pieces of FT, and 3 or 4 pieces of bacon. Well actually there is a list of bread and meat you can get. That's just what I wanted. The food was great and to top it off, it was just $5.49!!! Yes, that's right folks!!! The atmosphere is warm, inviting, spacious, and clean. Its not to loud and music isn't blaring. (Mama wouldnt like that im sure ;) I liked the different saying on the wall that moms are known for saying. There's even bar seating and a party room!! I'll definitely be back. read more

I love this place --- huge servings - plentiful sides and fast accurate service - order anything -you cannot miss My wife is a picky orderer - she is Mrs. Everything on the side - the servers here do not even blink - they havent messed up once - bacon soft? check - eggs scrambled hard? no sweat - ckn fried steak with no gravy? too easy Everytime we come here I always say I am going to try something else - but I am weak, the porkchops just call out to me and i cannot say no - so maybe next time Desserts are aces, old fashioned pies coconut cream, strawberry banana, pecan pie and peach cobblers-- they even have root beer floats This place would be perfect if it were open 24 hours With Fat Straws two doors down, Kor-B-Q around the corner, Cane's accross the parking lot and Amore' just a short walking distance away, this corner of Park and Midway is shortly becoming a weekly stop for me and my family. read more

Finally, someone who can make over medium eggs. We have tried several places for breakfast lately and it hasn't been great. We went to Mama's last Saturday and I was weary based on reviews but it was great. Sausage patties were flavorful. My only grievance was the hash browns. They looked good and everyone with me said theirs were good but the inside of mine were not fully done and were mushy. Still, I would definitely go back. My family from Out of state also raved about how great it was. read more

This place is good. It's not Normas Cafe but not bad at all. Love their chicken fried streak. For just under 10.00 you get main entree, three sides and bread. Pretty good deal. The staff is ok. Most people are good and nice but a few times I have had folks who were not having a good day of how i was service and attended. read more

Mama's and Daughters is a fabulous home cooking southern cooking restaurant. If your looking for breakfast, there isn't much that could go wrong with pancakes, French toast, omelets, biscuits and gravy or chicken fried steaks or chicken. It's all good. No southern restaurant would be complete without favorites like chicken and dumplings, chicken fried steak, and pot roast. If you don't have room at the end of the meal, then get some pie to go. They have the best pies like coconut cream and chocolate pies. It's so good it will make you slap your mama! read more

DISGUSTING! We had been to the other ones on Harry Hines and Industrial for lunch in previous years so why not dinner in Plano? OMG- the portions were minute served on plastic, of course. Everything is pre-cooked and must be sitting on steam because the food arrived less than 5 minutes after we ordered. Baked chicken- I have seen bigger pigeons! Most veggies are cooked with some type of meat so there goes the veggie plate options.... Mac and cheese was fake orange and tasteless. Chicken and dumplings had only a few pieces of meat. Servers were talking so loud in the empty restaurant that their shrill voices echoed across the rooms. Go to cowboy chicken instead- we could have had a whole chicken for the price we were charged. Maybe all day breakfast is cooked to order- may be the only way to give it another chance.... DISAPPOINTING! read more

Definitely a great place for southern comfort food. On the Saturday we visited, business was brisk and there was a line despite the chilly weather outside. Once we got our table, we ordered chicken fried chicken, cheese burger, and roast beef with gravy. The meat came with 3 side dishes that vary each day. We loved the meal and they were plentiful! I don't know, maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I've heard people recommend Mother's Daughter's Diner for a while, but it really didn't do anything out of the ordinary for me. It wasn't bad or anything, it just didn't stand out as something I'd add to my restaurant rotation. It's a diner and I can appreciate and enjoy that, but I found everything just adequate. Maybe it was just this new location? I ordered the open-faced roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and mac & cheese. The sandwich was good and came with a good portion of beef. The mashed potatoes were standard variety with gravy. The mac & cheese was a disappointment. I just didn't care for the flavor. For dessert, I had the strawberry banana pie. It was OK, but didn't blow me away. I'd probably recommend trying another pie instead. If you're in the mood for diner food, it's an option to consider. I will say that my waitress was really friendly, so bonus points for that. read more

Excellent food, we had a party of 5 and everyone enjoyed the food and we will all return. Chicken friend steak and gravy was amazing. Homemade ranch dressing was so good. On the burger and fries besure to order spicy fries. They are not spicy but have really good seasoning. We enjoyed the diner atmosphere and all the funny signs. Next time we will have to save room for desserts. read more

Nice little restaurant waitress was friendly may not be the most trendy but the food was good the corn was unbelievable very very sweet. I had chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and corn. The mash potatoes were good, chicken fried steak was OK maybe three stars the corn was so dang sweet I could no believe how good it was. We hardly order through Uber eats but tonight decided to treat ourselves. Well the restaurant completely screwed the order up! Mama's Daughters Diner failed! We learned about the events via driver,UberEats and Mama's Daughters Diner. We went to Mama's Daughters Diner 6 years ago and it was a disaster! The order was completely wrong back then and way too salty! I love my salt so for me to say it's too salty is huge. Fast forward to today and we give it a try again, because we see that their reviews have changed and are higher. Plus the Cinnabon enticed me. Guess what? They still suck! We ordered a breakfast platter, 2 patty melts, cheeseburger, Texas fries, onion rings and 3 Cinnabon's. Want to know what we got? Biscuits, eggs, and the Cinnabon's. Great, so we just get dessert and no dinner. So let's critique what we did get. The eggs were not how they were ordered. They were ordered fried but we received one over easy and one over medium. (Really?) moving onto the biscuits, gross! Pillsbury does better!! They were rock hard, burnt on the bottoms and a little too done on the top. The gravy was bland and uneventful and I have NO IDEA what that meat was that they were trying to pass off. The highlight of the "meal" was our Cinnabon's. That was actually good. Not like getting a Cinnabon from Cinnabon but decent and went well with my coffee that I turned into my dinner. However the biscuits and Cinnabon left a weird taste. Upon putting a complaint in with UberEats we also called Mama's Daughters Diner. We spoke with Louise who admitted that she forgot to hand the driver the other half of our order and she said we could drive back to get it. We have no car so that didn't work. Offered to mail us a gift card, again no car. So that still doesn't work. As we can't use the gift card through UberEats. UberEats was wonderful and credited the $65 or so back. If it's so hard to make sure an order is all there before leaving your establishment than obviously this restaurant doesn't care about its legacy/name. We will never return. Dinner ruined. read more

Our first time here, we purchased a Groupon for this place and thought "Why not?" We had the Friday Specials, the catfish for my husband and the chicken and dressing for me. Our opinions were about the same. We felt the food was bland and tasteless. No amount of cocktail sauce for the fish, or salt/pepper for the chicken and dressing seemed to help. The overall feel of this place is rundown and dirty. We came, we tried and it's highly unlikely that we will be back. read more

Got her at 0630 on a weekday and was seated immediately. It's cold in here, so bring a sweater. The temp is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. Even though my server brought my fantastic breakfast to my table immediately, the edges of the eggs and potatoes were chilly, while the middle of the plate still steamed. The coffee is great; it's not bitter. By the amount of cross table chit chat, it's obvious that there are many regulars. It's great down home food here. read more

New toast, new mashed avocados and poached eggs. Especially when you have an open kitchen. Seriously. When he declined the re-served meal and what we had observed. Of course by then he doesn't want anything made in the kitchen. My waffle and ham was good. Coffee was great but never offered refills even after the hair fiasco. Don't get me wrong, things happen, hairs do fall into food. But just do the right thing...trash the food and remake it.

We ordered corned beef hash skillet with pancakes, south border skillet, biscuits gravy with eggs and pancakes. The corned beef hash skillet gets a high mark. The south border skillet was average. The biscuits gravy with eggs and pancakes were cold and it gets a low mark. If we decide to eat at Honey Berry in the future, it will be the Frankford Rd location.

Eggs were nice & hot, hash browns were cold, bacon had been good in the past, but our past two visits the bacon has tasted burnt & it has an odd flavor. Toast was over cooked, not buttered, it was not edible. The last time our coffee was refilled was by a man that looked like he had just come out of the kitchen. He was very nice & we were grateful that our coffee was being refilled without having to get up and ask for it. The servers were still lolly gagging behind the counter while the gentleman was refilling our coffee. I have worked in the restaurant business from being a server & also in management. I am very understanding of all angles of what is going on in a restaurant setting. The service on Saturday was the worst service I have ever experienced. Rude & unapologetic, it was as if we were inconveniencing her. We will not be returning.

And the girl helping us at the register was sweet and patient. There were enough tables and it was cute and relaxed inside. Would come again for that kimchi rice but I do feel like overall, a pretty expensive experience.

That was a first, and likely began in April since our last visit was on 3/24/26 and no credit card fee was assessed. Nowhere on the menu was it mentioned there would be a credit card fee, nor was it articulated by a bartender. That sort of fee makes me wonder what's going on in this establishment. Not sure we'll be back.

I really wanted to like the place, but Mama's Daughter's can't deserve more than 2-stars. It's definitely a major "meh" place for me. Food: Chicken and Dumplings Chicken Fried Chicken Mac n Cheese Mashed potatoes Side Salad Fried Okra Buttered Corn Rolls and Cornbread My favorite part of the meal was the rolls and cornbread. The cornbread wasn't too dry and not wet either. Good flavor and right amount sweetness. Same goes for the rolls. If they had some honey on the table it would've been perfect The mains were disappointments. Not that they were bad, just not good. Mediocre versions of classics. Chicken and Dumplings seemed like they let the pot boil down too much because it was super salty. Or maybe added too much chicken base to their mix. The Chicken Fried Chicken was better, but just kinda bland. The crust was nice and crispy and the meat wasn't dry but there was not enough flavor or seasoning. It shouldn't depend solely on the gravy for the seasoning. Have had better versions of both at countless other restaurants and chains (Cotton patch's CFC blows this away) The story is the same for the sides. Everything seemed like it came out of a bag, box, or can. The buttered corn was rubbery and sitting in a soup of corn broth. The Mac N Cheese was the biggest disappointment. Noodles way overcooked, reminded me of baby food consistency. The sauce was nothing great either, I would've preferred Velveeta mac and cheese. The fried okra was ok, but pretty generic and half of the order was just fried bits of crust. Mashed potatoes were ok, but a bit gluey and only saved by the cream gravy. Again, nothing you wouldn't get at any other chain diner place. The salad had way too much dressing, with about a half inch of dressing still left in the bowl after most of the lettuce was gone. Service was quick and attentive. Everyone is busy but cheerful. I don't think I'll be heading back because there are plenty of other quality diner spots around town and if I wanted more average fare I'd just got to a Denny's or IHOP. They seem to be at the same level as Mama's Daughter's Diner. read more

Last time the wife and I went it was terrible. A Very discrimination type environment. I used to love this place The server was rude and racist! My and I are an interracial couple and you could see it in her eyes that she didn't want to serve us. My wife watched our food sit up ,where they are done preparing and waiting for the waitresses to pick them up to deliver, for about 15 to 20 min before it was brought out to us. When it arrived all of our food was cold. We set our food to the side trying to find our server. When we finally found her she was sitting on her phone and eating!!!! We was then told that she was no longer our server because she was heading home. (Which she never did and continued to help other tables, one was right next to us ) this made it very awkward. We had to wait for the new one to come to the table. When she arrived, she had an attitude because we complained that both plates were cold and we needed new ones. Now mind you, we were not at all being rude in any way even through the food being terrible , discrimination,and service) All we wanted was for the food we paid for( didn't even have to be fresh but at least room temperature to hot) she came back what seemed like 10 min with same plates that looked like it was microwaved and sets the plates down with a smirk. Rudely asked if she could get us anything else. At this point we are totally frustrated, and just set and ate. No refills were offered we had to hunt down the waitress to get those. We paid for our microwaved food from our racist very discriminative waitresses with terrible service. They can't say it wasn't because the tables around us was getting great service. We used to come here all the time. At least twice a week. Bring our out of town family there. We haven't been back to this terrible place. I don't mind the looks we get from being a mixed couple but I will not support a business that lets their employees treat interracial couples like this. read more

Very Rude when it come's to them almost at closing hours. (Which I must say that NOONE informed us that it was almost closing time until after we ordered our food)...The Blonde mean lady was too busy trying to get us in and out so fast, that she failed to tell us that our food would be slopped out to us COLD, and then be rushed during our entire meal, she brought the check to us right after our COLD FOOD came out to us and she had the nerve to stand OVER the person signing for tip/total on the receipt because "She needed to close down for the day"! I mean come on, I been in the service industry and you do NOT EVER STAND OVER the person paying for the ticket, watching over to see what amount they were signing off with! I understand that it was closing time but they should have warned us prior to seating us and we would of been kind enough to find another place to eat! To end off the worst customer service on top of that, the mean, sandy blonde haired, fat lady failed to tell us the doors were locked and we would have to go around to the side doors, BUTTT she failed to tell us anything until a few moments later was BECAUSE SHE WAS TO BUSY CHATTING AWAY with her co workers and laughing away while counting Tip money! Such a bad Diner. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME THERE! The food was great but the closing manager I believe was a complete kill on reviews for this diner. You may want to RE-TRAIN your employees, to NOT EVER STAND OVER customers when closing out the tab, and maybe they need to also be trained to not take in customer prior to a certain time if they did not want to treat us with any respect and rush us our entire time there even more rude, turning the lights off little by little to notify us its closing time! Mama's Daughters Diner has a warm, classic feel, and the service was genuinely friendly and welcoming. The staff made the experience pleasant and were attentive throughout the meal. Unfortunately, the breakfast itself was a bit subpar. The hash browns were overcooked and lacked the texture I was hoping for. The biscuits were fluffy, but they crumbled at the slightest touch and did not hold together well. A great restaurant with wonderful food, WHEN THIER OPEN. Shockingly, this terrific diner closes very early on some days. They actually close at 3 PM on Saturdays! On other days they close at 8 PM. So it's off to Norma's we go where they are open until 9 PM every night. The food at Mama Daughters is excellent. Good service and a friendly staff. Parking was easy and it did not look like they were on a wait. Would stop in again if in the area for a quick cheap meal. Oh and for anyone curious what migas were per their menu "Scrambled eggs with tortilla chips, jalapeno, tomato and onions, cheddar cheese. Served hash browns with two flour tortillas and salsa." I was surprised how bland these were. Unless I got a jalapeño there was little to no flavor to the entire thing. I was surprised it was so flavorless considering all the things in it. Hash browns were crispy on outside and soft on the inside which is ok with me.

The restaurant is in the Christmas spirit with Christmas decor & music- which is a plus for me! I started with a cup of coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. Both were good. For my meal I ordered the Meat Lovers Skillet- no eggs, add bell peppers and onion and pancakes. I also ordered biscuits as a side. The food was delicious and I was sad when I realized after I left the restaurant, I forgot my leftovers. I will definitely return for the oj and skillet!
