I did the Devil's Postpile hike before the sunsrise, so this was a perfect spot to catch up on some extra morning coffee and a donut as a self-reward. The owner was super friendly and had the mild roast that I needed brewed! He insisted the donuts are made fresh every morning, and my classic powdered sugar did not dissapoint. Swung by for a quick cup of coffee on our way out of Mammoth one morning and I was greeted with a line out the door so I knew it must be good. Despite the line, everyone worked quickly and it only took about 20 mins from stepping into line to receiving our coffees which I considered to be great! The staff was warm and welcoming. They made some great recommendations. They not only have a large selection of coffee but have some incredible looking donuts including a very large donut called The Mammoth Donut. Stopped by to get some coffee for the morning. There is a small parking lot outside of this coffee shop. The shop is very warm, and it is perfect for this cold weather! They serve breakfast food, donuts, pastries, and coffee. There was a line when I got here. Staff is very friendly. Barista serves coffee by calling each customers name with passion. I ordered a vanilla latte and a cinnamon roll. I heard that the cinnamon roll is only available during weekend. Both items were decent, and nothing stands out. We walked in and the line was extremely long which is understandable since it's memorial weekend. We waited for 30 minutes to get our coffee order in, EJ was super friendly but the coffee was absolutely horrible and extremely expensive. We ordered 2 iced lattes, a non espresso Frappuccino, a horizon chocolate milk in a carton and a sprinkle donut = $45. Usually get our coffee at another location in Mammoth. Kids wanted to try something new! Unfortunately 5 out of the 5 coffees were horrible! All 20oz orders. The iced mocha I ordered came hot. The barista was very nice and poured it over ice and gave me the remaining mocha. Needless to say it was bad! Extremely watered down and zero flavor!! This was our first stop of the trip and actually our favorite coffee place of the 3 we tried! My partner got the cappuccino which he loved, and my sweetened matcha had just the right amount of sweetness and matcha flavor. Service was very nice, and there was plenty of seating indoors. The coffee and breakfast burritos/sandwiches are very good (assuming they haven't run out of them). The service is very hit or miss as you have the typical despondent coffee shop employee alongside one or two slightly more cheery colleagues. We happened to be sitting next to some backpackers or transients (hard to tell in the mountains) who had disgorged the entire contents of their backpacks onto the table next to us and looked like they hadn't showered or even washed their hands in weeks. Perhaps something you might expect at a Greyhound station but not when you're paying $15+ for a breakfast burrito for a total of $50+ for breakfast and coffee for a few people. Not sure why it's difficult for some establishments to have standards that don't allow patrons to treat their business like their cockroach-infested apartments, especially since the space is shared with other customers. read more

Having recently been to Japan, this has been the only place that can replicate that authentic Japanese matcha. I don't know how they do it, but it almost has a pasta water taste. Wow this place is BUSY. Expect about a 30min wait from the moment you wait in line till you get food. Service was nice but it did feel understaffed with the long lines. I did enjoy the oat milk latte I had. Really solid. The breakfast tacos were a good wait to start the day and I loved that they paired with some pico de gallo, guacamole, and sour cream that you can add on your own. I don't know if I would necessarily wait a long time to eat here again but it's a nice way to start the day if you're here early enough. I usually don't drink coffee, save a few exceptions but I know that nearly everyone else over the age of 20 is a javaphile of one sort or another. Fortunately, the coffee shops here also seem to cater to hikers/skiers/tourists in general by offering more than just coffee. MCRC seems to have the fancy donut market here cornered but at the start of the day I want something savory, not sweet and if I'm going to extremely honest the donuts didn't look that appealing to me. I chose to get their breakfast sandwich with bacon instead and an iced green tea. The tea was fine but the sandwich itself was...not good. The eggs were pre-cooked microwaved patties and it showed because it was pretty flavorless. Thankfully, they had a local hot sauce that helped with that. The bacon too somehow was flavorless but also pretty greasy, so much so that I went to a nearby grocery store to get a soda so I could just burp it out. read more

On my last morning in town before hitting the road, I decided to walk to Mammoth coffee roasting Company. I was not anticipating there to be such a line, but apparently everyone had the same idea. After about 30 minutes, it was finally my turn to order. I decided to try a cold brew with vanilla and oat milk as well as one of their homemade donuts and their version of an egg white spinach feta wrap. The cold brew was delicious and paired perfectly with the homemade vanilla glazed donut. But I was extremely disappointed in the egg white spinach feta wrap - it was overly salty and lacked any real flavor beyond the salt. I had high hopes as I love the spinach feta wraps from Starbucks, but this wrap definitely needed something g to counter the salt and the wilted spinach inside. All in all, if you're going for coffee and donuts it is a home-run, but that spinach feta wrap left me weary of their food items. read more

They have more espresso options, but I enjoyed the nitro cold brew ($6.95 for a 12oz, small). Other drink options are tea and matcha lattes. They also serve pastries for your morning snack. The coffee shop has some seating inside. There's a free parking lot right in front of the entrance. The staff was nice and friendly. I would recommend this place to other people. read more
