What a great addition to the West End! Excited to have an authentic Vietnamese restaurant in Alameda! Ordered: Vermicelli Bowl w Lemongrass Pork - delicious and fresh! The portions were generous. Egg rolls- very good and not too oily; loved the pickled veggies that came with it Crunchy Kale- really good and the dressing was good. Portions were generous Vietnamese Coffee- so good! Strawberry Mango Smoothie - refreshing and my son loved it! Not overly sweet! The wait wasn't so long, and service was very nice. Love this place! First when we drove by we thought the food was already made and they just served you like Chipotle does. But no, you order and wait. There really isn't any seating. 3 small bistro table indoors but everyone is waiting for their orders and sitting so I wouldn't plan on a sit down meal. There's minimal seating outside but also full of people waiting for their orders. There is a bathroom. The wait wasnt too bad. We ordered the rice plate with lemon grass pork and chicken. I came to this place because some a**hole on Yelp came to this brand new business to talk smack and give it a one star review. Businesses are having a hard enough time let alone put up with spoiled brats that come to a new business to talk smack! Obviously they don't know Jack about Vietnamese food saying that the chicken could have been more "lemon-y". The marinade is lemongrass, not lemon. So I had to try this place because that jerk posted a bad review. I believe some of the staff from this place are from Ba Le in Oakland. I ordered the grilled pork sandwich and the pork and chicken rice plate! The sandwich was a bit pricey at $12 but is way bigger than Cam Huong and Ba Le. The lemongrass was pronounced and it was absolutely delicious (I'm Vietnamese). It was packed with plenty of meat, ample pickled veggies, and tender pork! The rice plate though is where the value is at. I ordered the lemongrass pork/chicken rice plate. For only $15, it was enough to feed 2 people. Fresh cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes to perfectly offset the savory pork and chicken. The fish sauce that came with this is just like my grandmas... it was perfect! The staff was friendly and had smiles all the way around. You could even see them making the fresh spring rolls. The wait was longer than what I would have wanted (20 mins) but they just opened and were busy with plenty of customers. The place is more for takeout although there were limited tables and chairs outside. Overall a great experience and would definitely come back. Probably better to call order in advance! They really do it as well as anyone. I have had several of the Bahn Mis and you cannot go wrong. I would probably rank the lemongrass chicken as my top choice, but their pork is also excellent. If I were to recommend there perfect lunch - get the lemongrass chicken with a pineapple smoothie. I do like dropping in here and eating on the sidewalk, BUT I am extremely happy that they have added online ordering. It makes it much easier to grab something on my way home from the office. They have been a great addition to Alameda(my top sandwich spot now) and I hope they are here for years to come. read more

There is no doubt that the quantity of the items are quite generous. I ordered the combo sandwich and shrimp spring rolls. They use the correct baguettes, meaning the kind that is supposed to take off a layer of skin from the roof of your mouth. Lol I didn't care so much for the spring rolls. In this case, the size was too large, which didn't mean the quality was better. The julienne cut carrots were cut too large, and carrots are not traditional used in spring rolls. What a delightful little spot. I love to support new local businesses like Mango & Mint. Mango & Mint had a soft opening on 3/15/2024. The menu centers around Banh Mi sandwiches. There are 6 types of proteins to choose from: spicy chicken, lemongrass chicken, lemongrass pork, bbq pork, tofu mushroom and combination. PRO-TIP: If you ask they will gladly add a fried egg to any of the Banh Mi sandwiches. I highly recommend. Its only a $2 additional fee. The other highlight of the menu is the signature smoothies. They range from $7.50 to $8.00. My favorite is the pineapple coconut. Its made with coconut water, coconut milk, kale, cashews, pineapple, honey, and coconut flakes. Yes, that's a lot of coconut, and it is on the sweet side. So I recommend saving that smoothie for a dessert! read more

I was expecting a big fresh salad topped with shredded white meat chicken, but this was basically some cabbage, some of it dry and brown, a few sweet carrots, and really terrible chicken - it was in little misshapen pieces, with of globs fat on every piece. Seemed old, like whatever was left from an actual chicken they had cooked a few days ago. I asked if they had any fresh white meat chicken, but they didn't! I have order here numerous times mostly pork vemachelli bowl and chicken spring rolls. I added avocado to the chicken spring rolls once but it wasn't necessary so best to save calories. The people making it are fun to watch that being said I now prefer to order for lunch, I ordered for dinner on a Wednesday and was told 30 minutes over the phone but it was not ready for 60 minutes. I think that it's good for the price. The portions are huge. Initially I thought the food prices were a bit high, but it was a lot of food. I'm not sure if service was fast or slow because I ordered a pick up order through door dash. The restaurant is tiny and I'm not sure if I would eat in there. It's near my job and I could see myself coming here for lunch. But.......taste wise...it was just fine. The spring rolls were super good, but they had way too much lettuce. And the lettuce wasn't to hide the fact that there wasn't a lot of meat or noodles, etc. there was just TONS of lettuce. I had to pull some out. But if the two things I had, the spring rolls were my favorite. I'd go back to get them again. The vermicelli plate...was ...ok. The chicken wasn't that good, it wasn't anything special.
