Big boss and I came here for breakfast on Wednesday morning. I read all the reviews of this being a 'hidden gem off the beaten path...' and Literally, thats exactly what it is! LOL If it wasnt for Yelp, there is no way I would even know this place existed! Before Yelp existed, I dont know how this place was known of (word of mouth from sailors??! lol). The reason I say that is because it is literally a Beaten path. The road that you take there is a back road to the marina and its this tiny little kinda broken up street that leads to you the end of the Marina and the restaurant is facing the marina, so if you look from the street view, it looks like just a building, not a restaurant. But Thank God I found this place! Honestly, just being by the marina/harbor have having a view of it while sitting and eating is just worth it. It is just so relaxing. When I arrived I was greeted by the waitress. The waitress was very sweet. She was totally attentive and always checked up on us and made sure we were okay. So now to the food... Big boss got The Hot Mess which is potatoes and biscuits with gravy on top (which looked amazing! I will try this next time I come by), and I told the waitress to surprise me with either the Hot Mess, Huevos Rancheros, a Breakfast Burrito, or the Old School Tacos (I know, sometimes I'm SO indecisive! but whateva... lol). She chose the Huevos Rancheros, and, I know this will sound crazy cause I've lived in So Cal all my life, but it was the first time I have ever had Huevos Rancheros AND it tasted wonderful! I will likely get huevos rancheros from other restaurants now that I know how good it tastes. Overall, This spot is really a little gem to get away from the craziness and the best part is that it is only 5-10 mins away from the craziness lol I will definitely be back! Hidden Gem. in between Wilmington-San Pedro - Long Beach. Good Menudo on Fri Sat Sun. You might get lost getting there as you drive through the Wilmington Marina. Good homemade Cafe type breakfast and lunch. they have a happy hour menu on Friday nights. Service is great. The owner is sweet and makes you feel at home. the view is great while eating talking and throwing back a few. Decent selection of beers. Prices are reasonable. Clean restrooms. I came in for Sunday breakfast with the family. We got (3x) huevos rancheros, the South Bay scramble, and country fried steak. The food arrived quickly and silence fell on our table- we were all wrapped up in our delicious breakfasts. We wiped everything out. I really liked that the huevos rancheros is served with chili verde instead of a red sauce. The beans were also super tasty and the breakfast potatoes were cooked to perfection. The chicken fried steak was really tender and had great flavor. I didn't try the SB scramble but being that my mom knocked it out, I assume it was good. Looking forward to trying their lunch menu and new happy hour (Fri+Sat 3pm to sun down). I would consider myself a regular here. I frequently dine at this beautiful establishment at least 3-4 times a month. The food is beyond incredible. I usually order the Breakfast burrito but depending on my mood it changes. Like today I ordered the Huevos Rrrrrranchero "Hot Mess" style. SOOOOO FREAKIN DELICIOUS... to my surprise there was nothing left on my plate other than the utensils lol.. And the customer service is always exceptional. The waitress by the name of Mina Cuesta (Omg I know sounds like a high end purse.. Versace step back) is always extremely friendly and is on top of everything. I never have to ask for a refill for my beverage which is a major pet peeve of mine anywhere I go. And to the "KAREN" who was complaining about using her shirt as a face mask. How ridiculous are you? We were in the area looking at boat slips and stumbled upon this cafe. Such a great find! We sat outside and enjoyed the view and atmosphere. My daughter had the chicken and waffles and said it was the best waffle she'd ever had. I had the loaded turkey burger (fries were sooo good) and husband had an omelette (yum). I found this hidden gem by searching on Yelp so I decided to come by on a Friday night as that seems to be the best time to come. As we were walking up to the restaurant, you can hear good music playing out on the patio. We were immediately greeted by a waitress who asked where we would like to sit so we decided to sit out on the patio overlooking the harbor which happens to be the best seat in the restaurant. Friday nights appears to be the late night and it stays open until 9 pm when all the other days they close at 3 pm. The waitress brought us out the special Friday menu that has a number of selective items on it so I decided to go with the fish tacos and partner in crime stuck to the fish and chips. As for the drinks, we went with the $5 Stella beer and had a few of these as we sat chit chatting enjoying our view of the harbor. The food came out fairly quickly and once it did, we dipped right in and boy we definitely were not disappointed. The fish plate was so flavorful and probably the best fish tacos I've ever had. The fish and chips were also delicious and I can actually pin point a little flavor that stood out the most and I believe they use cinnamon in the fish batter but whatever they use, is a great decision. The staff and the service is over the top and there very friendly to there customers and it just feels like it's family owned where they take exceptional pride in their food and customers. We definetely will be coming back very frequent and I would love to try and make it to there brunch that occurs on the weekends. read more

This place is definitely a gem. One may question where Google Maps is leading you but once you get closer to he marina, clear cafe signs lead you to the small spot with an excellent view. The food was delicious... breakfast and lunch items that can fill a hearty appetite. The kind owner shared with us some of their monthly brunch specials which sounds like it offers a lovely spread. I was finally able to hit this amazing spot last night. They seem to cater to the dock crowds so they are only open until 2pm every day with the exception of Friday's, they close at 9pm. I had an amazing plate of fish and chips. What sets this place aside is you get HUGE portions of food that taste amazing. I immediately pulled a flavor out in my fish that set it aside from all other fish and chips places...it was cinnamon I think. It was so flavorful that I didn't need to use lemon for the first time in my life. I like lemon on my fish but when it tastes this good lemon seemed almost sacrilegious. Our waitress, Andrea (???) was probably the most attentive waitress I have EVER encountered. I recently lost what I decided would be my last patient on hospice. I spent 13 years in the field of helping our veterans pass but decided I cannot do it any longer not only because I sacrificed my back for my field but because, honestly, it hurts to lose someone you grow to love over and over again so I left my job and returned to school...I have no income but this waitress was so amazing, I had to leave her a tip worthy of her services. I also had the chance to meet the owner, Cheryll (hope I spelled that right), who was an absolute gem. I think I found my new Friday night spot. You can bring your dogs and they provide water and a dog menu and sit on the dock, waterside and enjoy beautiful sunsets or night views of palos verdes and all the lights Los Angeles has to offer. I seriously do not have enough wonderful things to say about this hidden gem. Nothing I say will do justice to the quality of food or service. read more

What a nice quaint cozy little cafe, as you enter the cafe is clean, bright and a friendly staff, my HOG group today decided to have breakfast. We parked our Harley right out front and we got to view the Beautiful marina. There was a nice variety of food off the menu, while seated there's a wall with calendar of live events & entertainment at this location. The food arrive promptly and as ordered, plate presentation was ok (it was breakfast) and the staff frequently check on us for any other extra needs. The main patrons are those that live in the marina, it's a hidden treasure, a nice clean place with a view, to relax and enjoy a meal. Definitely will be back again with my Harley Club. read more

As many others have stated the location of Marina Cafe is lovely and on my one visit there the breakfast I ordered was good. My lowish rating, however, is for the ever growing and disgusting trend of restaurants, bars, grocery stores and just about anywhere else of allowing dogs inside. And Marina Cafe allows dogs inside the restaurant. While everybody on Yelp talks about the dogs being allowed on the patio, which is bad enough, on my visit a lady had a dog inside the restaurant and was feeding it scraps from her meal on the bare floor where the customers walk. And the entire time she was doing this she was holding a conversation with the otherwise very nice and very friendly owner of Marina Cafe. Doubtless this review will not bother the owner or all of the dog owners out there but from my perspective this is a deal breaker. I would love to return to the Marina Cafe because everything else was quite nice but I am sorry. No dice. Dog owners please keep your little Fluffy out of such public places. Here for mother's day. Came in at 1pm with a reservation. We were greeted by someone when we entered but no real direction on where to check in or go. Someone behind the buffet sat us in our reserved seat. No drink orders taken right away. Not sure if the buffet was open or going to be reset as it seemed like much of the food was sitting out for a while. We decided to get some food. Most of it was cold or barely warm. The chips were amazing!!! Eggs Benedict, were warm and under cooked (round 2 was better) Eggs- cold Prime rib- warmish Ham- bone with hardly any meat sat out the majority of the time we were here. Chicken- warm, cold inside. Chicken enchiladas- old and cold. Fruit was good. Dessert was good Salad was nice- basically anything supposed to be cold was good. Coffee and hot tea was great because it was nice to have something hot. Blonde lady was great!!! Manager maybe? Took a while to get our hot water for tea and to get bill paid. Love this breakfast spot. I have tried their breakfast burrito and pancakes ... but a must have is their Hot Mess breakfast plate. It is the best! The staff are very friendly and attentive. Bathrooms clean. Great view. Comfortable breakfast spot that I will definitely be returning to. I haven't gotten a crowd. Every time I have gone it has been nice, quiet and not crowded, but I was told that lunch hour and early breakfast hours get busy. read more

Me and a friend went yesterday we both had the fish and chips and shared a wedge salad . The fish and chips possibly the best I've ever had. The owner is there making every thing just right I really liked it . She just recently took ownership of this establishment. The view is absolutely stunning. And actually getting to this place can be very interesting as well especially if you're not familiar with the port of Los Angeles very cool. It looks like something out of a movie driving into the area . After lunch we ended up staying for a couple hours on the patio and had some really nice beers. An interesting conversations with some of the people who live on the boats there in the marina.It was like being on vacation.I plan on going back and trying their breakfast I see they had biscuits and gravy :) this little hidden gem that you must put on your list of places to try.
