Our HOG group of 20 comes here 2 times a year. This is my first time here. The food was very good and hot. The coffee was nice and strong, and the service was fantastic. I ordered the claim soup and fish and chips. I would say this food was so off the hook that yummy portions were big. I could've split my order. It's a weird menu breakfast place, cafe and Mexican food but hard shell tacos.. I didn't expect much so ...2.5 Lemonade was powdered mix, no canned root beer, so I received flat Dr pepper. When the drink menu was weird. My friend let me try his mimosa which was horrible cheap champagne..I I usually can drink cheap champagne, so it was one level down from that. I've been loving whole foods roast beef sandwich so I almost got that, but my friend warned me the great variance in a good roast beef.. so fish and chips. I'm not sure why mine came in a paper plate with to go plastic sides while the other table had fish and chips on a plate... But. It tasted ok. I was given a plastic fork though my friend ate on a plate with silverware. Umm I need a napkin at least... Please. My friend had Cobb salad which is cheap iceberg and lunch meat. He liked it. Love this place. Its a little gem hidden in the marina. Who knew? I stumble on this place because I was doing a search for Biscuits and Gravy. Low and behold this place popped up. Great owner and friendly staff. Katie was a great waitress and asked if I wanted to play guitar. I had to pass on that invite, since I don't play guitar. Instead I ordered the Biscuits and Gravy. I got an order of one biscuit which was $4. Great gravy with lots of flavor but the biscuit was a little on the dry side. This place scores high for it's amazing location on the marina and the great prices. I came back for dinner and had the clam chowder. This place is a hidden treasure for sure! Charming little Marina Front diner with a view. They have bar seating at the counter, comfy booths or tables outside on the patio. Ice cold beers on tap and the traditional Diner menu. Lots to choose from. My first time here I had the old school crunchy taco special 1 chicken 1 Beef I like them both equally with house made taco sauce, Soooo gooood. It came with a side of rice and beans and I ordered a cup of tortilla soup DELICIOUS!!! I'm excited to go back and sample some more things on the menu. The Marina Cafe is a hidden gem in LA Harbor and I have enjoyed this little coffee shop for over 40 years. Sherry has turned the Cafe into the best version of itself EVER. Food is decently priced and very good. Sherry and staff are warm and great at what they do but there is a total lack of hustle. Once seated the view to the west over the marina and and harbor are worth taking your time to enjoy. Unfortunately, more often than not, I see people standing in line 5 deep waiting for a table....and see 4 tables dirty and not bussed. We have a boat in the marina and I could eat here breakfast and lunch but I stopped coming because it takes a very long time to be seated and complete your meal. Its a lovely location, food and staff are good.....just need a little more focus on gettin em in and gettin em out. I love the servers but they are slowwwwwww. read more

Came here when I was about to close but I was still in the time frame. My first complaint was about one of the workers. She was an older lady and she was spreading gossip to the customers that seem like regulars. I don't enjoy coming to arrest you want to hear uncalled for gossip about locals. She was saying how one of them was a drunk. So what if he is a drunk it's not like he's harming anyone. My second complaint is about customer that brought their dog and it was barking most of the time I was eating. I really don't get how people can bring little dogs or big dogs to restaurant. My third complaint was as I was almost done with my food the waitress asked if she could bring the check. As they were closing. Then she came back shortly and asked me to sign it. Really think that's rude in the middle of eating with sticky fingers. Don't really think that sanitary either. I would never come back here again. The food was nothing to Rave about either. Our large group dropped in on Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. Our usual spot was unable to accommodate our group of 24, but we contacted this place and they said, "Come on down!" They even had two boat slips for us to park the craft that ferried our group there. They literally rolled out the red carpet for us and really want us back next year. Big boss and I came here for breakfast on Wednesday morning. I read all the reviews of this being a 'hidden gem off the beaten path...' and Literally, thats exactly what it is! LOL If it wasnt for Yelp, there is no way I would even know this place existed! Before Yelp existed, I dont know how this place was known of (word of mouth from sailors??! lol). The reason I say that is because it is literally a Beaten path. The road that you take there is a back road to the marina and its this tiny little kinda broken up street that leads to you the end of the Marina and the restaurant is facing the marina, so if you look from the street view, it looks like just a building, not a restaurant. But Thank God I found this place! Honestly, just being by the marina/harbor have having a view of it while sitting and eating is just worth it. It is just so relaxing. When I arrived I was greeted by the waitress. The waitress was very sweet. She was totally attentive and always checked up on us and made sure we were okay. So now to the food... Big boss got The Hot Mess which is potatoes and biscuits with gravy on top (which looked amazing! I will try this next time I come by), and I told the waitress to surprise me with either the Hot Mess, Huevos Rancheros, a Breakfast Burrito, or the Old School Tacos (I know, sometimes I'm SO indecisive! but whateva... lol). She chose the Huevos Rancheros, and, I know this will sound crazy cause I've lived in So Cal all my life, but it was the first time I have ever had Huevos Rancheros AND it tasted wonderful! Good homemade Cafe type breakfast and lunch. they have a happy hour menu on Friday nights. Service is great.
