Came here for a Sunday brunch and was thrilled to find a waterfront place with decent food and reasonable prices. There was also a live band playing on Sunday, although we missed it since they started just a tad later than we stayed. For breakfast, I ordered the veggie and potato plate with an egg on top and ordered an extra egg. My partner got the scrambled eggs with bacon; I definitely thought my dish was the winner if you're looking for fresh sauteed vegetables. They had zucchini and mushrooms and it just tasted healthy and delicious! We also ordered a fruit plate, which at a steep $7 was a bit underwhelming. The fruits weren't all ripe and I thought the amount of fruit and especially the quality wasn't too generous for the price, so next time I'd definitely skip the fruit plate; but come for the breakfast, kind service and nice atmosphere. read more

This review is 3 years late! Was looking for a pre-golf breakfast for our 4-some as we headed to RPV from East OC for a buddies bday outing on a Saturday morning. We all got the Hot Mess and LOVED it. I would def consider this place a hole in the wall. Not fancy by any means but the view of the boat slips was fun for folks who don't have boats or who have boat envy . Service was good to great as there was only 2-3 servers. Best Sausage Gravy I have had on the west coast! I grew up in the dirty southeast so sausage gravy is a staple. Very hard to find good ones on the west coast. 2nd visit a year later with the wife was not as great. Service was slow but it was a weekday. We typically love Marina cafe the views are great, the service is always helpful and friendly. This week we visited them for their breakfast with Santa. I'm not sure if they hired new cooks or were under staffed in the kitchen, but 2 of our orders were wrong and the food wasn't as great as it had been in the past. Mediocre at best. We love the gals there and feel a loyalty to them & the restaurant almost sad to even share our disappointment with this visit. But it is what it is, an honest review. read more

What an awesome place. It's definitely a "hidden gem," that I am reluctant to share, but I must. This restaurant has everything, good food, good people and a good location. The service was fast and friendly. The coffee was hot and fresh. And the food, OMG, it was hot and delicious. I got the pork chop breakfast and my Bride got the chicken and waffles WITH bacon. I don't know who is the the kitchen, but they are a culinary genius. It was all so delicious. The chicken was perfectly cooked - I could see how moist it was. The pork chop fell apart when my fork brushed it. The beans that accompanied it were better than my MIL's (though I will take that secret to the grave). This used to be one of my favorite breakfast place to come with my dog. Ott was always friendly, welcoming and had great customer service. They increased the number of staff and down went the customer service. We had to wait a good 10 minutes before someone came to ask if we wanted something to drink and it seemed that that had to go to Florida to get oranges for the memos. We literally had to go in to pay our tab because our server was no where to be found. Three tables occupied, 4 servers and still no attention just poor customer service. The dog's meal was rest but our fish was just drenched in oil. Not sure where I stand as far as recommending this place. Adorable greasy spoon with a waterfront view. Marina Cafe is somewhat of a hidden gem, loved by locals. The interior has the homey feel of a vintage diner, and the outdoor patio allows for ample social distancing. They are open for breakfast and lunch daily, offering a wide variety of American and Mexican specialties, plus beer and wine. I love diner coffee, and Marina Cafe's was freshly brewed perfection. The Huevos Rancheros was delicious-crispy tortillas, topped with gooey fried eggs and flavorful verde salsa. The refried beans and fried potatoes served alongside were good too. One thing note though: the menu did not indicate that this dish contained meat, but it did-(fortunately, only a few) small pieces of pork. If you are vegetarian, be sure to indicate. The Breakfast Sandwich was simple and satisfying, and vegetarian if you ask for the bacon on the side. My only complaint is that the bread was extremely dry. Tasty food!! Beautiful views!! Local hangout! If any of the above is something you are looking for then the marina cafe is worth the drive! This little gem is a cafe locals frequent every morning. When I walked in I was greeted with a smile and a cup coffee. Seating wasn't an issue at 8 am and I got to witness all the locals pour in and banter which in itself was very entertaining! It was a real treat to see the community wake up together. You don't see this in a corporate diner. The food came out super quick and you could tell it was homemade with love. Crispy potatoes country fried steak and delicious gravy!! Oh and I almost forgot the over easy eggs! All of it was delicious. I quickly had my plate licked clean. When you aren't chowing down you can admire the boats and witness the marina waking up. I love the water and boats so this is actually what brought me along with the 5 star reviews. If you are making the drive be prepared you will drive through a very industrial area and the LA Port. It seems strange but that is what adds to the charm..
