Came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning and was seated right away. Plenty of parking in the lot. I did make reservations through resy, which I didn't need. The restaurant itself is very spacious. The service was OK. I felt like the waitress took forever and we had to wave her over to fill there empty water cups multiple times. I've been here before prior to moving to San Diego, but this place just didn't impress me when I came back recently. Food review: Marmalade breakfast: (3/5) This was simple, but pretty good. The bacon was extremely salty and too crispy/almost burnt. The breakfast potatoes and eggs were good though. Chicken and waffles: (4.5/5) surprisingly these were pretty good! The waffle had a nice crunch and flavor to it and the chicken was well seasoned and not too dry. Chilaquiles: (2.5/5) This was not good at all. I haven't been to Marmalade Cafe in a long time, so we decided to come in for breakfast today. I noticed they're adding a 2.5% surcharge due to labor and food costs--which I completely understand, and we chose to dine here regardless. That said, you would expect service and management to really be on top of their game... but that was not the case. The food came out just warm, portions were noticeably smaller than before, and service was extremely slow. We waited 15 minutes just to get a straw, and our server seemed to forget about us entirely. There was no sense of hospitality. What stood out the most was management--both managers were standing around the bar talking and joking with staff, never once checking on our table (or any nearby tables). We didn't even get a coffee refill unless we asked. Unfortunately, we will not be coming back. Don't waste your money--there are plenty of better breakfast spots in El Segundo with much better service and hospitality, regardless of price or added fees. Worst $190 spend today read more

I got really sick off there 36 dollar steak, mash potatoes and grilled asparagus. The steak tasted super dry like it was once frozen. The mash potatoes was watered and lumpy not sure how you do that. Five star service, excellent waiter Pilar was excellent but the establishments business plan was just ridiculous. The cheapest item on the menu is essentially $20 and you don't really get any sides except for potatoes on most items. Most of the menu is your traditional high overhead items that should reflect lower pricing but that is not the case. My eggs Benedict had shells in it, and the mash under it was wayyyy too salty and I like salty, and frankly for the pricing quality should not have such errors and I'm just upset because the setting is so nice as well as the service but the food is just cheap for the pricing even the coconut Syrup with strawberries and watermelon drink I got was all ice and hardly anything to drink. First off the service is on. They come to the table in a reasonable time. I love the Ambiance. It's also nice and quiet. You can relax and eat at your pace. I had the Onion soup and chicken pot pie both very good and tasty, the pot pie will stuff you, I am hard to fill up I am 6'4", 1 of my top 10 that I have had around the world. For those who like to drink they have a full stocked bar, I finished up with the house tiramisu, it ok I/ you might pass on this. Pros-I enjoy coming here for breakfast. The host is always available and pleasant. The waiter is friendly and attentive and checks up on us periodically. The food was good I order chorizo eggs Benedict and they're very generous with a chorizo patty under the egg. It can with country style potatoes which was my favorite. Cons- the only take away I can say is that the woman's restroom looks like it's falling apart. The sink is chipping away on its own, the hardware is loose because of all the wear and tear. The soap dispenser has half a drop of soap coming out at a time which. The paper dispenser has one inch of paper coming out at a time when ever it decides to work because it doesn't sense motion. So instead of replacing it they place another one under it you can't really see. Other than that I loved my experience :) read more

It's hard to review a place when one clearly ordered the wrong food. But here I am. I came here for brunch. I felt like breakfast food. They have a selection. of different eggs Benedict dishes and I ordered the lobster version. Big mistake. The eggs were poached very well. The sauce was pretty good too. The potatoes were well prepared. The problem was the lobster. It had an odd texture, like seafood does when it's frozen and either defrosted and stored improperly or refrozen again. It lacked the firmness that lobster normally has. It also tasted less than fresh and had a horrible aftertaste. I actually feel a little sick to my stomach right now. Is this my fault for ordering lobster here? Maybe. The place looks nice. It has an upscale vibe. I was here alone and do not like sitting at the bar. So i was seated in a table right in front on the kitchen opening. I get that they want to prioritize nicer seats. My server was very pleasant and attentive. He refilled my water and coffee without me asking more than once. He was great. The food was not. So i think 3 is fair for the good server and nice ambiance. Lots of the usual fare on the menu with lots of hearty options. Quick, friendly and casual service. It feels a little like a step up from a diner. My friend got the heart healthy breakfast which came out on a giant platter (which she couldn't even finish). I had the marmalade breakfast tacos which was an order of 3 hefty tacos. I don't like giving such low reviews, I really don't. This experience was unfortunately quite poor. I have never eaten here before and their photo online of pasta and meatballs looked delicious, so I was excited to try it. The pasta itself was extremely dry and chewy and all of the wrong ways. The meatballs were absolute mush, fell apart to the touch. The consistency alone was really offputting. The taste was not good either. It didn't taste like real meat, it almost tasted like one of those plant-based meats or something was just very off about it. Finally, there was almost no sauce and they also were missing a bunch of items that I added. The amount of stock was negligible, it was like eating plain pasta. I added shrimp, chicken, asparagus, cheese, and I think another veggie or two. None of that came on my order, it was just the chewy spaghetti and mushy meatballs. Given they have a four stars I cannot imagine that this is their best. Maybe it was a fluke day, who knows, but I would not be trying again based on this experience read more

Deanndra was the BEST server we have ever had. If she isn't a manager, she should be. Her service was impeccable and her positive attitude was even better. The food was great. Especially recommend the French onion soup & fried chicken sandwich. I will also add the manager on shift needs work on customer service and learning how to seat people. We had a party of 7, not that complicated. She said they couldn't push tables together which we replied saying two tables is fine. She was flustered and then said you'll just have to wait she has another party. No other party came after us. Thankfully Deanndra saw a simple solution like we did- two tables next to each other and she was able to get us seated, even offered to push the tables together with no problem.
