    Tiramisu

During a quick trip to Boston I met a friend for dinner near the hotel I was staying at. The restaurant wasn't very busy on a Tuesday night around 5:15 p.m.. we were able to be seated immediately for our reservation. The restaurant has two different sections. The area we were seated in was darker and cozy Italian style restaurant with darker woods. It was fairly quiet there other than the other room there was a pizza party but it was not disruptive or loud. The waiter was really friendly and helpful with helping to figure out what to order on the menu. I started off with the octopus (Polpo con Patate) which was grilled well and was soft. For dinner I ordered the branzino which was full of seafood which was really fresh. I even had the tiramisu for dessert which was also very good. I was impressed with the food and highly recommend it.

Very good Neapolitan style pizza made fresh! All the ingredients were good quality only complaint was the pizzas could do with a bit more of them. My favourite was the diavola

Came here on a Saturday night before doing the Boston Marathon and it wasn't too busy so we snagged reservations right before coming. Good: - The casarecce was so good! I liked the meatballs and the pasta shells themselves were very chewy and tasty - The tiramisu was really good - not too sweet either - The risotto and lamb lollipops was surprisingly good! I did not like the taste of the lamb, but the risotto was some of the best I've ever had! - Super nice server! Bad: - The food is a bit on the more pricey end, but not too bad! - Very dim inside and it's a bit gloomy Overall this was a great pre-race fuel and glad we came!

Good pizzas and drinks. A little pricy but I thought the pizza was worth it because of the fresh dough and variety. Nice servers too! We weren't rushed at all and we were able to grab a table late Saturday night at dinner time without a wait.

Unbelievably Good -- One of the Best Dining Experiences I've Had in Years! MAST completely blew me away from start to finish. It's honestly been a long time since I've sat down at a restaurant and found myself so captivated by the food that I barely carried on a conversation -- but that's exactly what happened here. Every single dish that came out of the kitchen was so flavorful, fresh, and perfectly balanced that all we could talk about was how good it all tasted. The atmosphere itself is warm, inviting, and elevated without being pretentious. You can tell immediately that the staff takes real pride in both the presentation and the service -- every plate looked like something from a magazine, and every recommendation from our server was spot-on. The pasta was the star of the night -- cooked perfectly al dente, rich in flavor, and clearly made from scratch. You could taste the quality and care in every bite. Each sauce we tried had its own depth and personality, from the creamy, comforting options to the lighter, more vibrant ones. It was one of those rare meals where you find yourself slowing down just to make it last longer. And then the desserts -- absolutely out of this world! The lemon sorbet served inside a lemon was one of the most creative and refreshing desserts I've ever had, bursting with bright citrus flavor. The tiramisu was light yet decadent, with just the right balance of espresso and cream, and the chocolate cake was rich, velvety, and worth every bite. You could easily come here just for dessert and still leave completely satisfied. MAST isn't just another Italian restaurant -- it's an experience that reminds you how good dining out can be when every detail is done right. I left completely impressed, already planning my next visit, and telling everyone I know that this is the spot to try. Five stars across the board!

Well, sometimes you hit, and sometimes you miss. This was three strikes down the middle and the bat never left my shoulder. For you non-baseball fans that means it was not good. To start, slow service to get a drink. That doesn't even play into this review. Appetizer - Burrata - It came in a dish with three bell peppers. Did not look appetizing. Interesting enough the burrata was the best part of the meal. Main courses - "Certified" Neopolitan pizza. A pasta with meatball dish and scallopine di vitello..for you non-italians veal. Pizza - doughy and uninspiring Pasta - children's dish from Pizzeria Uno definitely better Veal - just veal. no pasta, just veal ..greasy wine sauce and as thick as a hockey puck. the drinks - Espresso Martini was good. The Mast Mule may as well been Jack Daniels with a lime. I mean this was one of the worst meals I have ever had. I don't write bad reviews. I just needed to say my piece and warn you if you dare to come to this establishment. Gordon Ramsey where are you!!!???

This was my second time. The foods were very good and sever was very nice and kind.

Pizza was delicious. The Arancini wasn't great. If you go here, stick to the pizza and you'll be perfect.

I was in the mood for pizza while I was in Boston and decided to explore what was near my hotel in Downtown Crossing. I came across MAST', a Neapolitan-style pizzeria, and decided to give it a try. Walking in and seeing the wood-fired stove, I knew I was in for a treat. I ordered the prosciutto, arugula, and tomato pizza, and it was absolutely delicious. The pizza had a perfect balance of flavors, with the prosciutto, arugula and the tomatoes. The crust was just right - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This meal deathly reminded me of my time and Napoli last fall.

Mast is hands-down one of the best Italian restaurants I've experienced outside of Naples. From the moment you walk in, the vibrant atmosphere and warm hospitality transport you straight to Southern Italy. The wood-fired pizzas are perfection--crispy yet tender crust with just the right amount of char, and toppings that burst with freshness and flavor. I had the Margherita D.O.P. and the Diavola, and both were exceptional--simple, balanced, and true to Neapolitan tradition. The pasta dishes are equally divine--especially the Cacio e Pepe and Spaghetti alle Vongole, which tasted like they were made by a Nonna back home. Their wine list features incredible Italian selections that pair beautifully with the food, and the craft cocktails are innovative without losing that Italian soul. Service was impeccable--friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the food. If you're craving a slice of Naples in Boston, Mast is the real deal. I'll be back again and again. Bravissimi!

Tried this place one night for dinner since it was close by. Not a huge place and you have to go up stairs to the upstairs dining room. They have a big garage door rep that was opened and we had a good breeze. I have to say that the service was spotty. The manager or owner was great but our waitress was lacking. Manager had to take our drink order after sitting for a while. We ordered our food and she never stopped back for refills but gave us our bill. I had the Cannelloni and the wife had a margarita pizza the food was good, decent portions.

    Caprese

The food was simple, but the ingredients were flavorful. Antipasti: Polpetinne - beef meatballs served in sauce sprinkled with parmesan. Delicious without feeling too heavy Caprese - cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, house pesto. Clean and refreshing. Pizza: Margherita - soft delicate cheese, san marzano tomato sauce, basil. How is something so simple so good?! And the dough, the crust. Whoa. All of the ingredients were top quality, which makes it feel like you're not chasing anything. We walked away very satisfied.

Came here for a casual sunday dinner and got seated right away. I ordered the lasagna and was pleasantly surprised with how light it was. I loved the toasted top and the crunchy edges. It's a big enough portion to share or split into two meals.

My guess is that this is more of an evening destination where people come for cocktails and the atmosphere rather than lunch. We ordered a Diet Coke, the Scampi appetizer, Carbonara, and the Rigatoni Alla Vodka. The scampi was easily the best part of the meal. It was flavorful, cooked well, and made for a nice appetizer to start things off. Unfortunately, the pastas didn't quite meet expectations, especially considering the price. The Rigatoni Alla Vodka was $28, but the pasta wasn't cooked al dente and felt overdone. The Carbonara, also $28, was disappointing as the eggs had curdled and the dish ended up being much oilier than I expected. At $18, the scampi was enjoyable, but overall I don't think the food justified the price point. One bright spot was the service. Our waitress was incredibly kind, checked in on us frequently, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a very aesthetic design. I can definitely see why it's popular on social media. There is also outdoor seating, which I imagine would be a nice option on a warm summer evening. One thing I did notice, though, is how closely the tables are spaced together. Since the restaurant was mostly empty during our visit it wasn't an issue, but I could see it feeling crowded and fairly loud once the dining room fills up. I was honestly surprised by the meal because Gigi is part of the Mazi Restaurant Group, and I've really enjoyed some of their other concepts, especially Kava Neo-Taverna. Based on this experience, though, I think there are plenty of Italian restaurants in Boston that offer better food and better value for the same price. Overall, I'd give Gigi 3/5 stars. The service and atmosphere were both strong, but the food didn't live up to the pricing. If I came back, it would probably be for drinks, appetizers, and the ambiance rather than a full Italian dinner.

As it turns out, they had plenty of open tables and I opted to sit outside on a whim since it was sunny and gorgeous out. I ordered the Clelia's Penne and a glass of the Hess Chardonnay. The chicken was browned beautifully, pasta was cooked perfectly, the micro greens and squash also brightened up the dish. And when ordering this, it doesn't hurt to top it with some more cheese! Don't be fooled by size of the serving plate, the look is light & delicate - but I was seriously stuffed after this lunch special. I had just enough room for a light dessert. So I asked for a single scoop of the mango gelato. I saw people a few tables down getting as many as 3 scoops, perhaps I'll follow suit the next time I'm visiting Boston. I came for lunch, but if I'm ever in the area again - I'd seriously consider ordering their truffle ravioli for dinner.

The bread had large air pockets, visibly soft, with a rich aroma of salt and milk; the olive oil was smooth and mellow, with a full-bodied fragrance, and the aftertaste even included a subtle, restrained hint of tea. Even knowing it's a calorie bomb, I couldn't resist dipping it in more. Baccala Mantecato: Classic Venetian flavor. The salted cod was tender and delicate, almost like a light foam, somewhere between raw silk and mousse; the dark bread was simple yet not coarse, perfectly balancing the saltiness of the cod. The most surprising thing was the refreshing aroma of celery leaves that emerged in the aftertaste, lingering and persistent. Lumache: When looking at the menu, seeing "chili butter, Jonah crab, breadcrumb," I never expected such a distinct citric acidity. The subtle acidity was gently enveloped in the fatty aroma of chili butter, perfectly complementing the umami and sweetness of the crab meat with just the right amount of spiciness. The lumache were firm and chewy, the sauce rich and smooth, and the breadcrumbs light and crisp, creating a rich and distinct texture. The portion was generous; even after microwaved the next day, the sauce had naturally broken down and the lemon's tartness had dissipated, but the noodles mixed with chili oil still had a unique flavor. Tiramisu: Highly renowned, and the staff were quite confident. The surface was covered with a thick layer of crispy cocoa nibs, the cake itself is incredibly soft and moist, and digging inside reveals an "underground river" of coffee liquid, while its bitterness was perfectly balanced by the sweet Marsala. The overall flavor was sweet and mellow, less bitter than typical tiramisu, with more layers of complexity. Actually, I was hoping for a slightly bitter version. Even on a weekday, it was packed with customers; by 5:10 PM, only one bar seat was left. Reservations are highly recommended. However, the bar was in a good location, with the bartenders being the easiest servers to find. It was a pleasant conversation with them.

The service is so friendly and seamless which in itself makes for a lovely evening. Highlights were the mussels, which were very fresh and delicious. The service here was attentive with the waiters offering more bread for the mussels. Most dishes are a little spicy, so if you don't like spice, make sure to note that with the waiter. The miso gelato is one of the most delicious savory/sweet desserts, and has lots of nice crunchy accents of the sesame crumble. Cocktails are fabulous, very smooth, as well as the mocktails. Cons: The crostini was nothing really special, and one of them came without the oyster butter. The meatballs, which were tasty but had a slightly hard texture on the outside. The prawn risotto was pretty one-note in flavor, and the prawn heads tasted overcooked and slightly off. The radiatore was spicy and nicely plated. The Cremoso al Cioccolato had a strange flavor profile that didn't quite fit, and had such a large salted chocolate-truffle section that we did not finish it (which is saying something)! Overall, if you are looking for a solid dinner in Boston that will guarantee be a nice experience because of the atmosphere, this is a good place.
