The atmosphere behind the counter does seem a bit chaotic, and one of them looked stressed... since they didn't offer me a spoon with my dessert, so I wasn't sure if the ones on the side were clean spoons since it looked kinda empty lol. Luckily it was! But I grabbed my soft serve and left. First few bites, honestly the matcha strands are intriguing, but tbh my first impression was that it kind of reminds me of Plato lol. Stopped by one weekend and was happily surprised to be there before they opened. definitely arrive early or you might be waiting for a while, I arrived 15 minutes early and there was already a line forming. The flavor was unexpected, a little cheesy? Reminded me of cheese foam that you get in boba drinks, which I'm not the hugest fan of, so I would not get it again, but I am glad I tried it. The daifuku mochi look so pretty and yummy but the mochi was very soft and mushy rather than chewy. Of the three flavors we tried, strawberry with matcha, strawberry and chocolate and the sakura, I would recommend the sakura one because it was nice a floral and the gummy candy on top was nice. Not sure why the reviews are lower than expected. The price is fair and though there was a line we didn't wait too long. The Mont Blanc matcha strawberry parfait was delicious- with matcha and vanilla swirl. The Mont Blanc part is definitely the most impressive part and the strawberry, mochi, and soft serve part along with the Mont Blanc created an amazing textural combination. Decided to check this place out while in the mall. Heard about the viral "matcha spaghetti" so wanted to give it a try. Lines can get pretty long as it's still in their soft opening era but it goes by pretty fast. I decided to try their Mont Blanc and daifuku. 1. Mont Blanc- 7/10 I was expecting the spaghetti to also be matcha flavored but found out later that Mont Blanc is a chestnut, nutty cream which makes more sense. I did really like the subtle texture differences between the Mont Blanc and the soft serve itself. We got the matcha and Hokkaido milk swirl and that tasted really good. The matcha wasn't too bitter and it balanced out the sweetness of the Hokkaido milk. I wish the matcha was a bit more earthy but overall it was still good! I did enjoy the presentation of the staff pumping out the spaghetti; it was fun to watch! 2. Strawberry daifuku- 5/10 Mochi was not soft enough as parts of it were still hard. Strawberry was nice though and i liked the white bean mochi paste inside. Total came out to be almost $16 which is pretty expensive. They are located on the second floor above Din Tai Fung, turn left into the food court section and walk all the way down. Shoutout to the staff for being patient and professional despite how busy it's been. After ordering, they give you a number and call it when your items are ready. I ordered the Strawberry Mont Blanc Parfait and the Strawberry Daifuku. For the parfait, you can choose your soft serve base to be either matcha or a matcha-and-milk swirl. Honestly, the matcha Mont Blanc itself wasn't what I expected. The texture and taste were more like white bean paste, and I couldn't really taste any matcha. However, the soft serve was delicious! I'd recommend just getting the matcha soft serve if you're looking for a strong matcha flavor (and you'll save a few dollars too). The parfait also had cereal, a couple pieces of dango, and jellies inside. I really enjoyed the daifuku. This is my second time at Matcha Ren. My first time I got a matcha soft serve. My friend thought it was too bitter but it was perfect for me! I like my matcha stronger and it was rich and creamy. This time I tried a hojicha soft serve with the matcha strawberry daifuku. The milk soft serve tastes like the white rabbit milk candy rather than a pure milk taste. The hojicha was not blended in but rather a drip on the top. The tea flavor was good! You can't go wrong with a daifuku, although the mochi was slightly on the thin side for me. There is much more bean paste and strawberry in terms of ratio. You order at a kiosk. Service was quick! I will be back to try the black sesame soft serve. I've been here a few times and the staff are always friendly. I've never tried their drinks and only come for the strawberry daifuku. Such a yummy treat! Fresh strawberry with sweetened bean paste and covered with chewy Mochi. We have tried the chocolate strawberry mochi and it is a bit too sweet for my preference so we always stick to the traditional daifuku. Today we tried the cream brulee crepe and it was ok. It had the crunchy sugar on top, but the edges of the crepe were burnt and left a weird after taste when we ate it. No spoons for soft serve or multiple straws for one drink. When calling out numbers for pick up, you could not hear her unless you were standing in front of her so orders just sat with no pick up. I heard one man ask about his order since others after him got their orders. She told him the machine broke but never bothered to inform him and just let him wait for something that was not coming. They were making more but they said they are taking any out. I would not get the chocolate mochi with strawberry. The mochi was soft but it was mostly chocolate filling. All of the drinks were good, not overly sweet, although a little grainy with a clear umami grassy flavor but it was good. It's my first time trying them out, but didn't opt for their matcha stuff since it was night and I value my sleep. Ended up getting the hojicha latte instead. Hojicha is decent here, but they didn't ask to adjust for sweetness levels. My drink was good, but it was a splurge. They offer dairy replacements, but keep in mind that they don't tell you how much they charge. Oat milk was a 1$ upcharge, so I ended up paying 8$ for a 16 oz cup before tip.
