    Buffalo Cauliflower

I have been to Matteo's a couple of times so I'm surprised I haven't written a review yet. My family and I came here last night for dinner around 6:30pm and it was pretty busy, but we were able to get seated within 10 minutes. We ordered the Fried Calamari with added Shrimp and Jalapenos, Buffalo Wings, The Matteo and a half Cheese Please, half Hawaiian. They ended up bringing us out Buffalo Cauliflower instead of wings, but our server said to go ahead and keep them free of charge - I actually enjoyed the cauliflower more than the wings. The Calamari was okay, I think adding the Shrimp and Jalapenos helped and the pizza was just okay too...I didn't think it was anything special. My sister in law and nephew both said that the wings used to be better and the buffalo sauce tasted different - it was more sweet than spicy. Overall, I wasn't too impressed with the food, I remember liking it a lot more the other times we visited. Staff were very friendly, but a bit slow at times though. I like the ambiance and intimacy of Matteo's - it's a great place for date nights, but you can tell that the clientele is made up of mostly regulars and locals. I don't think we'll make a special trip to Matteo's again, I don't think the meal was worth the price tag, but maybe if we're in the area and in a bind.

We saw someone post this pizza and had to try it. The service was great and so were the people! Unfortunately the food looked better than it tasted. The best thing was the Chinese noodle salad.

I really can't believe I don't have a review here already! I love Matteo's so much. It's my local neighborhood gem but more than that the ambience makes you feel as if you were somewhere special. It's romantic and intimate yet family and pet friendly. All the feelings you want at any time. Food... menu changes and it never fails to be amazing. I do really miss breakfast pizza with that delicious chorizo. But if you get a chef who knows they still make it... secret menu?! Lol All the pizzas are great I could inhale the Matteo and usually do with a side of The Stu! The ranch is yummy too. CALAMARI LOVER?! I know I am! Guess what they take it up a notch and let you add shrimp and jalapeños! I mean?! Are you on your way in yet? Love their chicken sandwich as well. The truffle fries omg! I mean I guess you can tell I love it all especially some craft cocktails! Service is sweet and intimate. No rush rush makes you want to stay awhile just be warned it's not slow service it's just real service where you don't feel rushed but may be like hurry up with that amazing sourdough cheese loaf! Lol My favorite place to sit is outside Enjoy Yelpers!

I loved the seasonal soup which was a spicy thai coconut curry soup. The bread appetizer with the cheese and balsamic were delicious as well. I also loved the sauces on our entrees. It's a nicely decorated restaurant, could be for special occasions or casual. Service was amazing as well.

We've always enjoyed a good meal at Matteo's. Usually selecting the place as a local upscale option for a celebration or dinner out with friends. This particular evening was in celebration of Woody's birthday. We were seared at a large table outside as there were 5 couples and a few singles in the party. A request was made to have the misters turned off as it was windy and fairly cool. But the mist was super fine and evaporated before it reached the table, creating a very comfortable cooling effect. The outdoor patio is lush with plants, trees and very unique fountains. Katie ordered a Caesar salad with grilled chicken and I had the pan cooked filet mignon medium rare. Katie ordered a margarita on the rocks no salt and I opted for the Bonanza Cabernet Sauvignon. The food was delicious as always and it was great to visit with our friends.

Matteo's Pizza & Bistro is the quintessential Carmichael neighborhood eatery! Matteo's boasts quite the loyal following of people who appreciate good food and wine! Matteo's is, in one word, delicious! When I am craving a top notch caesar salad and pizza, this is where I land! Oh...and a great glass of something to go with it:) It is a bit of a drive for me, but it is definitely worth it! Tucked inside a busy shopping center, parking is never a problem. That is a big plus! Another Matteo's feature beloved by their clientele is the outside patio behind the restaurant! This is one of the nicest outdoor areas you will find. You are instantly transported to a quiet, relaxing, and beautiful spot to enjoy good food, drinks, and friends! Even in the hot summer, this patio remains surprisingly cool sitting under the trees. And equally inviting and popular on the gorgeous fall evenings. Time just slows down when you are here. I love the entire menu. Crab cakes are crabby:) and seasoned perfectly (photo included). It is my favorite appetizer. The menu is varied with selections that will appeal to all different appetites. And the wine list....well, how shall I explain...includes more choices than I could probably drink in a year. That is because Matteo's has a serious wine shop attached to the restaurant open to the wine loving public! That is a big woohoo for me. And it is packed with SO many interesting wines. Just ask Peter, wine consultant extraordinaire. At least that is what I call him:) We let him know what we are feeling like with what we have chosen to eat, and he returns with a bottle, and it is always perfect. You are most appreciated, Peter! No wonder Matteo's is a culinary gem. Owners Matt and Yvette Woolston have a regional "foodie" reputation acquired with years of high-end restaurant experience serving the community. They are former owners of the Supper Club, which was a long-time hotspot for customers with discriminating taste. This wife/husband team was also well-known caterers for many VIP events . I am happy to report they still cater and you can have them at your next party or celebration! Both Matt and Yvette are in-house most days overseeing everything and chatting with their customers! This cozy dining establishment is not to be missed. And there is a nice bar to relax, chill, and enjoy a leisurely drink. I know I certainly have. Do not be a stranger! Check out the menu! Or go to the website and sign up for one of the always packed wine tastings hosted in the wine shop or the beautiful courtyard! Matteo's Pizza & Bistro will become your new, favorite hang out, too! See you soon, Peter!

Matteo's is always consistent with amazing food and service. The have spacious seating indoors and a beautiful patio with a very magical feeling in the evenings. They have a range of delicious wines for purchase and a full bar. The Matteo pizza is always my go to.. the chorizo really elevates the flavors! The calamari with shrimp and jalapeños are such an amazing combo! Always fresh and perfectly crisp! The garlic fries are next level delicious! There really isn't anything on the menu I don't enjoy!

We came here for the Vegan Chef Challenge but they had vegan items on the regular menu so we ordered from that also. We wouldn't have never know about this place except for the challenge. We love have other places we can eat that have a variety of vegan items. The Thai soup was quite filling as it was full of corn and mushrooms. The sandwich which was smoked portobello mushroom in place of bacon of a BLT was quite yummy but the vegan version had salad instead of fries. The Asian salad in small was quite substantial. We left full and happy

If you are in the Sacramento area and have a craving for a basic no flare pasta dish that is packed full of flavor you have got to try the Penne Bolognese made with Spicy Pork, Beef Ragu, Mushrooms & Asiago Cheese. This was hands down the best Bolognese I have ever experienced. The wife ordered the Chicken Parmesan which was also delicious and I love that they paired it with a creamy marinara instead of the traditional basic red sauce. If pasta is not your thing the burger that my son ordered was also delicious and well executed. Oh and don't skip the cheesy bread which was a Sourdough Round stuffed with Roasted Garlic Puree and 4 Cheeses with Virgin Olive Oil, Fig Balsamic & Crushed Chili's on Side (to die for) It's not often any more that you find a restaurant that their services is just as quality as their food. Matteo's is top notch and even though this was my first time here I was greeted and treated like an important regular. From beginning to end the experience and food is something I find myself now craving. Ambiance is like a Tuscan wine bar type of environment that is clean and inviting and just makes you feel like you would be missing out of your did not have a glass of wine with dinner

    Lunch menu on 2-28-2023

Food: The worst part of the visit 2-28-2023. Perhaps it's a product of post-rona staffing struggles. Either way, both orders of fries were cold and limp. Cheeseburger looked medium rare (good) but was chewy, dry, and lukewarm. Onions were not fresh. I had stomach aches and bad gas after my meal. Lamb burger was a little better. Shrimp & mango salad had over-cooked shrimp. The worst? I asked for A-1 (to help wash down the cooled fries) and the server delivered a small bottle. Inside the bottle was crusty and sauce wouldn't come out easily. I'm glad it didn't as that's when I saw the best by date was March 2017!! Either very old or married too many times and not stored properly. Service: Gal was knowledgeable, patient, provided good service. Ambiance: Nice there were several people dining during Tuesday lunch. Place was clean. Prices: Too high for the quality of food received. Random note: The wine shop next door/inside restaurant was pretty nice. Pricey and they didn't have my favorite vintner. But a nice spot for vino options.

While a booth would be preferable as they can accommodate a group our size, those are prized on Trivia night. This evening, staff brought an additional four stools to the bar so we could all sit. They were out of the "Jackrabbit done gone working(?) Pilsner" so, I ordered the lager. On the special list was a rib eye, but I didn't care for the sides (garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus), so I went with the New York off the main menu which included herbed butter, mashed potatoes, heirloom tomato with crumbled gorgonzola. Steak was done to medium rare perfection, potatoes delicious and I very much enjoyed the tomatoes. Katie ordered a salad, She and JJ shared her margarita pizza. It was huge. We brought some home. Didn't see what the others ordered but all enjoyed their food and drinks. Trivia here is a ton of fun. Friends have hired the emcee for private gatherings. The stress over seating may have us seeking out another venue.

I usually grab a seat at the bar. It's got that fun, mellow energy that makes it a great place to chill and catch up. The service is consistently solid, and everything just feels easy and relaxed. This time around, we hit up the happy hour menu and ordered a few appetizers. The nachos were solid, but the cheese bread stole the show. So. Freaking. Good. Totally worth the carb splurge (even if tomorrow me might have some regrets... today me has zero). If you're into low key spots that check all the boxes without trying too hard, this one's definitely worth checking out

There are steps first to the area or you can go around a longer way to get to where this is a ramp. There is not clear signage of where this is. It was a very hot day, I went a few days ago. Important factor - I use a walker on good days, wheelchair on worse. Today I was using a walker. They asked indoors or outdoors and because of the heat I asked for indoors. The server / hostess guestured and said "Sit anywhere". But almost all the tables were quite high and require mobility. They were those raised chairs and tables you almost have to climb up to sit. And at the end of the counter there was a lowered portion with two seats that were accessible. However, they were using this counter space for storage with bunches/little buckets of utensils, ketchups, a dirty dish rag, napkins, other various items. To the credit of the man working at the counter part, he did offer to clear it up for me. I did refuse because if you only have two accessible seats inside, using that space as storage sends a message that my business isn't wanted. Same with stores that use the only accessible changing room as storage for all the put backs. It's the principle of the thing. My husband and I ended up leaving and eating somewhere else. I have just moved to the area a couple of months ago and had a good time at one of the coffee shops the week before nearby and like the little downtown Fair Oaks vibe for walking around, local businesses, etc. I hope in the future they can be ready for disabled folks like myself in a similar way that they are for all patrons.

We were seated in the interior dining room to the left of the entry and I did not check out the other interior areas of the restaurant, but I loved the Mid Century Modern / Palm Springs vibe. I especially loved the "fly fan" on each table to use because the bar behind where we were sitting was open to the outside. We did not have an issue with flies but the fans are a nice and considerate touch. Jaden provided excellent customer service, checking back as our drinks got low, and checking back on the food, which we all very much enjoyed. When we left there was some live music outside, but we did not stay as it was a pretty warm Sunday on 6/14/26, but I will most definitely return. I'm especially looking forward to returning in the evening when the weather gets a little cooler toward the end of summer. This is a really fun place, with great food and great service!
