Overall very good! They are known for their clay pot rice but I think everything was solid. Fried squid was super crispy soft and flavorful. The pea sprouts were stir fried well with good flavor. Maggi shrimp was really great. Shrimp is fresh and big. Great texture. I also liked the black pepper shrimp which was really tender and had good black pepper flavor and sauce. It is your typical Chinese restaurant so don't expect Michelin star service or ambiance. However they still wear white dress shirt, black pants and a tie haha. On weekdays they have special lunch which is bang for buck! Recommend coming here especially for the clay pot rice.

Definitely classic Cantonese home-style cooking at its best. The décor is old-school -- Asian paintings on the wall, red and gold paper decorations that look like they've lingered since Chinese New Year or the Mid-Autumn Festival. It's charming in a nostalgic way. Honestly, I'm surprised this spot doesn't have higher ratings. The place was packed when we arrived, full of families and senior regulars -- always a good sign. With big portions and reasonable prices, it's easy to see why locals keep coming back. The staff (older uncles and aunties) were so warm and welcoming. They greeted us right away and seated us quickly. (FYI: there's a $1 charge if you pay by credit card.) Now the food -- truly comforting and classic Canto-style. * Salt and pepper fried squid: crispy, tender, and simply delicious. * Seasonal snow pea leaves: perfectly tender and crisp -- fresh and flavorful. * Tofu with shiitake mushrooms and snow peas: savory and satisfying. * Chicken and mushroom clay pot: generous portion for two; a bit on the mild side, which might be why it's so popular with the older crowd, but still very enjoyable. Forgot to take a pic/video of the whole process. No frills, no gimmicks -- just good, honest Cantonese cooking that speaks for itself. If you're looking for a taste of tradition and a comforting meal, this spot is definitely worth checking out.

This is one of my parents' favorite places for specific dishes. They didn't feel like leaving the house so I stopped in and picked up some take outs: Fu Zhou Fried rice, beef brisket under the appetizer section and the dessert Yuan Yang Bin. The service definitely isn't friendly.... But as y'all know, friendly services in a traditional Cantonese restaurant can be a bad sign so I take comfort in the fact that the wait staff is less than friendly hahaha! The interior of the restaurant is okay, the decor is getting old but it's a comfortable place to sit and eat. There are some dishes (particularly the clay pots) really need to be eaten in the restaurant for the optimal taste. The pricing is VERY reasonable. Both the lunch and dinner menus are good values. The lunch menu price is actually pretty close to the dinner menu. Lunch menu items offer a smaller portion but come with rice and soup without any surcharges and you can order the traditional Hong Kong style drinks at a discount when you get a lunch special. For dinner, you get a much larger portion but you'll need to purchase your own rice and the same soup (Lao Huo Tang) is about $13 for a shared portion. Also the drinks are at the regular price. I recommend this place if you like really great traditional Cantonese food and don't mind a bit of hometown wait staff flavor in service. I will definitely be back. Four stars for authenticity and really great and consistent food at an affordable price point. Ps. Almost forgot, min. Credit card charge is $35.

Their lunch specials feel kind of pricy at $14 for the dishes I got. - fish is garlic sauce: a bit spicy and taste was pretty good but the fish wasn't cooked well. Felt mushy and was bland even though it was coated in sauce. - beef brisket with tofu: brisket was soft but the dish felt a bit bland. - red bean ice: $4 but half the size of the other places (like Alice's Kitchen) Their best item was the soup that came with the lunch special. Very flavorful.

    Finishing up the last dish!

Food is amazing as always and the service quickly! If you want something to sip on in the winter highly recommend their Lao Huo soup / chef soup. It has a lot of flavor! Ambiance is something that's still remained the same all these years!!

The best chow fun I've ever had. My friend who lived in Rowland Heights took me to this spot and I was amazed. I tried it during Covid as takeout and I was surprised. I went back after Covid and was glad that the taste didn't change. Huge portions. Will be back to try the other dishes. Quick service.

Decent homey chinese food chow fun was good but didnt stand out mixed seafood with bean curd was fine.

Came on a Friday at 1pm in March 2026 for a casual lunch with family and it was quite busy. Service was fine as long as you're not in a huge rush. Prices were quite reasonable. We ordered the beef chow fun, sautéed fish fillet with veggies, young chow fried rice, and braised string beans. We really liked all dishes, especially the string beans. It was perfectly seasoned with garlic and salt. All dishes during lunch were just under $15/dish. No frills, easy parking, and good Cantonese food. Will definitely come back.

Great tasting Cantonese food. My family and I wanted takeout for dinner, so we ordered a Chicken Chow Mein and a Wonton Soup. It only took about 10-15 minutes for our order to complete. For the Chicken Chow Mein, we requested for the non-crispy version since they usually fry/crisp it by default. This dish was flavorful and you could taste the wok hei flavor. The chicken was tasty and quite tender. It also had some vegetables in it, though I wish there had been more. The Wonton Soup was also pretty good. The wonton dumplings had a thin wrapping which is a plus, and the meat inside was well seasoned and flavorful. The soup also had umami flavor. Overall, would recommend coming here if you are looking for some good Cantonese food.

    Gai jin mein

Food was good, service was good. Price was good and big portion. We had gai jjn mein and claypot rice. All good.

We love coming here and it is our favorite Hong Kong style Chinese restaurant in the area. We enjoy their chow mein and chow fun, both a classic. The peavines are cooked well and are also our favorite along with the squid. We love bringing our friends here and the staff is always kind.

Spare Ribs w/ Black Bean Sauce Hot Pot Rice

Solid Chinese food, at an affordable price point, about $10-$15 a dish. My boyfriend and I came here for a late dinner after running errands at around 8 pm and saw May Mei Restaurant was open on Yelp. They seated us down right away, at the last booth in the corner; it looked like a busy weekday night. We ordered the Spare Ribs w/ Black Bean Sauce Hot Pot Rice 排骨煲仔饭, Deep Fried Chicken Wing with Spicy Salt 椒盐鸡翅, and Sautéed Fish Fillet w/Vegetables. I've had a lot of Clay Pot Rice in my day (they call it Hot Pot Rice here, which I thought was cute and funny), and they make a solid one here. The rice is fluffy, the spare ribs in it was tender, and the sauce was perfect. It was served steaming hot, which is what I look forward to the most, and they even helped us mix up the rice with the sauce and take out the spare ribs and veggies to enjoy separately, in Hong Kong-style fashion. The pot also had crispy rice stuck on the side, too, like a clay pot rice should do. The only thing is that I wish they added more veggies to it. It was delicious, seasoned well, and I would order it again. The Fried Chicken Wing with Spicy Salt 椒盐鸡翅 was also great, and I especially liked that they stir-fried the dish with jalapeno and green onions. We actually ordered the regular veggie stir fry but they gave us the Sautéed Fish Fillet w/Vegetables, haha. We enjoyed it anyway and didn't say anything because we didn't mind trying something new. Honestly, you can't beat their prices here, or their fast service. Our waitress was very friendly, and our food came out in less than 5 minutes from ordering it. They do charge a credit card fee if you pay with credit card, so we make sure to have cash handy next time I get to enjoy May Mei's.

Everything was tender, aromatic, and clearly prepared with great care and attention to flavor and ingredients. Spice lovers will definitely be happy here, but even if you normally don't eat spicy food, you'll still find yourself going back for bite after bite. The restaurant itself is simple yet elegant, clean, and comfortable, with the warm feeling of a beloved local spot. The service is friendly, and the food comes out quickly, creating a relaxed and welcoming dining experience. Especially after a long day, having a hot bowl of their oil-splashed noodles feels genuinely comforting. If you enjoy unique Xi'an cuisine, I highly recommend giving this place a try. You can taste that the flavors have not been overly adjusted just to appeal to the masses. Instead, the restaurant preserves the authentic spirit, warmth, and bold flavors of traditional Xi'an cooking.
