    Spicy Scallop Hand Roll
    Michelle C.

Maya Sushi is easily my favorite sushi spot in Fresno, it's consistently fresh, quick, and satisfying every time. We got the Spicy Garlic Edamame to start, which is super flavorful and a great way to kick things off. The Spicy Scallop Hand Roll tasted fresh and well-balanced with lots of mini scallops included. For cooked and raw rolls, there are so many solid options. The Shrimp Tempura Crunch Roll had large, crispy pieces of shrimp, and the Spider Roll featured nicely fried soft shell crab with great texture and didn't taste oily. The Dragon Roll and Cherry Blossom roll were both fresh and well put together. My favorite has to be the Scooby Doo Roll, a baked scallop roll that's rich, flavorful, and always hits the spot. Across the board, all the fish and rolls tasted fresh and high quality. On top of that, service is always quick, with food typically coming out within 10 minutes. If you're looking for a reliable casual sushi spot in Fresno, this is definitely one to keep in rotation.

I haven't found many go-to sushi spots since moving to Fresno, but Maya Sushi Lounge is officially at the top of my list! I came here with a friend, and we had an incredible experience from start to finish. We kicked things off with the garlic edamame and the jalapeño bombs --both were delicious and perfectly seasoned. The highlight of the night was definitely the "Maya Special." We weren't sure what to get, so we told our server what we liked, and she told us the chef would combine all our favorites into a custom roll. It was such a cool, personalized touch! When it arrived, the presentation was stunning--it looked almost too good to eat (but we definitely ate it).

This used to be a solid, convenient spot for sushi, but over the past few months the experience has steadily declined, and today was the final straw. We sat at the bar, the only seating available, and were not greeted, acknowledged, or given menus by any sushi chef, manager, or the four waitresses on the floor. Even after a sushi chef told the waitstaff that two people were waiting at the bar, no one came over. After about ten minutes, we decided to leave and take our time and money elsewhere. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated issue. The last two visits included incorrect orders and missing sauces on a to go order, which required us to return after checking in the car. While we once chose Maya over Wassabi or Sakura Chaya for convenience, that convenience no longer outweighs the consistent lack of attention and customer service.

Location: Maya Sushi Date: January 3rd, 2026 Service: Mobile Order This New Yorker in the Central valley absolutely loves loves loves Maya Sushi located off of Champlain Drive. Even when I gave my mom some, but she had her own order and she was like oh my God this is so good. I was like right. Their price is unreasonable and the food flavors and color is always great. My only issue is their hours. The hours are weird on the weekdays. Weekends are good. But when they aren't open, I definitely take advantage of it. When you have the time, check them out. Check out these photos attached to this review.

The roll portions here are huge! My partner and I usually share three rolls, but we were completely stuffed after just two. Takeout was ready quickly. I believe we ordered the Green Hunter, Titanic, and OMG rolls. I'd definitely come back, but next time I'll go for more variety--everything we tried had a strong spicy mayo flavor. Not a bad thing, but it'd be nice to mix in some different tastes.

My bf took me and our son out for some sushi. I been here one time before but it was a while ago and it was random. Finally had time to check out the menu. The employees were all friendly cus when we walked in they all turned heads and said hiii welcome! The place was nice and clean and there's even a table that has a nice background for people who love to take selfies. Very cute. Our server was also nice and helped us by answering any questions we had. We couldn't decide really and they had a lot of amazing rolls on paper. So we just went with BOAT B. It was $100 and it came with 30 sashimi. We got to pick some of the ones we wanted. And the rest we had chef pick. It also came with 8 nigiri which we also got to pick some. Deluxe Cali roll which came with eel on top. And edamame which we opted to be spicy. We also added a spicy ahi tuna seaweed salad. Everything came out fairly quick. The boat looked amazing! The seaweed salad was good! Not the best I had but still good. Edamame was just right. And the sashimi was really fresh! Nothing fishy about anything we ordered. We even had leftovers to take home to which I finished later that night lol.

Fave roll here is the tempura crunch roll. Aside from the California roll, we have yet to try other rolls. Also, we have only ordered take out. They are kind and friendly, and the restaurant is clean.

I came here a couple weeks ago I'm just barely getting around to the review but the sushi here was delicious. i ordered the teriyaki bowl as well which was my favorite. the veggies added to the bowl felt like they melted in your mouth from how good they were and i wish they would have added more veggies into the bowl. they add lots of rice and just the right amount of teriyaki chicken. sushi was fresh and yummy. prices were reasonable on the menu. service was quick. the place was packed but they sat me down relatively quickly. the only thing is they forgot my miso soup but when I mentioned it the servers eyes lit up and she was so very kind and brought it to me shortly after. I honestly do not blame her the place was so full but the service was still pretty quick. the lighting is not very bright kinda romantic in my opinion, I think it's perfect for a cute first time date if anyone's wondering lol.

Everything was absolutely delicious, service was great, and they sat us down quickly for a large group. Can't wait to come back.

My husband and I came on a Wednesday night around 7. The place was packed, and we opted to sit at the sushi bar. Our waitress was attentive and provided great customer service. We got the Sashimi Plate (24 Pcs)-- came with miso soup and a bowl of rice. The fish was chef choice, I have no idea what the different fishes were, but the white fish was absolutely delicious it was my favorite one on the sashimi plate. The booty tempura roll was good, it was heavily coated in batter, but very scrumptious. The spicy mayo drizzled on top and the masago was a great addition. We got the strawberry mochi for dessert. It was just ok, nothing special to note-- I'd skip the dessert next time.

My go to spot for sushi! One of my favorite sushi spots here in Fresno. Always good service waiters are very nice. Maya Sushi has a wide variety of menu options to choose from to satisfy the whole family and good quality of fish & meats. I love that they have a steak sushi option for the non seafood eaters; also steak al la carte or in a rice bowl. Great service from the nice & friendly staff which were very attentive and also took pictures for our family gathering. They do not serve alcohol of any kind but BYOB is allowed (which is really awesome unless you're wanting hot sake, luckily big cousin had a bottle of Glenlivet in the car ). Great location near other places to grab dessert next door at Chiffonos Bakery & Jamba Juice or shop around the area. Fairly priced for the nicer side of Fresno. They also have a TV at the sushi bar and near the bigger tables to watch football

I am not much of a sushi snob but have a few key indicators of quality; how spicy is the wasabi?, how fresh is the fish? And how are the Nigiri fish portions? This establishment scores low on all three. I was tasked to pick out our rolls after we got a rainbow roll for our granddaughter. Nearly all of their "specialty" rolls had cream cheese or "spicy tuna". First, I am never going to eat cream cheese in a fish roll. Second, chili powder is often used in minced fish to cover up off flavors. I ordered another rainbow roll, an Alaska roll, and a Shadow Bridge roll. We never did receive the 2nd rainbow roll, the salmon on top of the Alaska Roll was small squares with a sesame oil that tasted a tad rancid, and the Shadow Bridge was a HUGE pile of fried onions with a roll underneath so it was heated. Needless to say we ate what we could and just agreed we would try a different place with her next time.

The concept is unique and functions a bit like an all-you-can-eat appetizer-style setup. Because of that, I made sure to focus on the premium options like the fried shrimp and ribeye, though I sampled a good variety of other menu items too, and I definitely felt like I got my money's worth. If the evening price feels like a lot, the staff let me know that their lunch pricing drops to around $20.
