When I was working at Starbucks next door, this is what I ate pretty much every day, and it ruled. The falafel wrap with eggplant is the best falafel wrap I've had anywhere, although I've ordered it so many times that I know it can occasionally vary in quality, depending on who is making it for you. It comes with a beet pickle, which not every place does but it's kind of a make-it-or-break-it ingredient for me. If you order it spicy, it is very spicy. The veggie plate is very good as well, and the tabouleh is good (or average). The lentil soup with some basmati rice is really good also. They carry some good soft drinks in bottles, like reed's ginger ale, which is a pretty good complement to my falafel. Nice outdoor seating, boring indoor ambience, but the owners are extremely nice, if not seemingly unfriendly at first. This place rules!!! read more

Came here after a long day of studying at STarbucks next door, and wanted a quick bite before we headed home. I got the #4, the beef and lamb wrap, and that was sooo not good. I immediately regretted my decision for that after the first bite. My boyfriend got the veggie delight plate which consisted of hummus, some salad, babbagannoush, pita bread, tzaziki sauce, falafels, and some dolmas. The veggie plate was decent, with the best thing about it being the falafels. Other than that, the food was mediocre. The nice thing about this place is that there's outdoor seating with a view of downtown Mountain View. If I come back, I'll probably try some of their plates or just a falafel plate or something. We came here on a weekday for lunch. It was quite crowded. We ordered wraps to eat there, and somehow the order took forever to come. They kept telling us it was coming soon, but it took a looooong time to come. The food didn't taste particularly authentic. I got the chicken shawerma, and honestly, the strongest flavor I could taste was the pickle in it. The meal was not worth the wait or for the food. REALLY bland. Coming here on a sunny Friday afternoon for lunch I was optimistic for a good lunch. Walking up you see about 7 tables in front of the building, most with an umbrella and later was comfy (for outdoor seating) for a casual lunch. Inside there is a roped off area to weigh through to wait, electronic screens with the menu items and pictures. Interesting format for waiting to order, the pictures do help. The inside of the restaurant is really bland, long tables that many parties can sit at remind me of the dining hall back in college. Not a bad atmosphere - really just not an atmosphere to speak of. The service was fairly friendly, not exciting but ok. The food was quick though, surprisingly quick. We ordered lamb and beef combination plate with the cucumber salad and hummus. The hummus was creamy and a bit bland. The cucumber salad was just that, no onion, no tomato just really bland sauce over fresh cucumber. The beef and lamb was a tad dry and completely without flavor, that was accompanied bland rice. While more than a fair amount of food it was 9.99 - kind of pricey for bland food for lunch. *The restroom is located in the other building, you have to ask for a key pass card and kind of find your own way with a bit of instruction. I really wanted to like this place, because the staff is so friendly and the menu looked promising and true to Mediterranean cuisine, but overall, it was just okay food. The baba ghanouj tasted a little too commercial for my tastes and the hummus was just okay. The tabbouleh, to give them their due, was REALLY good and flavorful, which was the saving grace of my lamb shawarma plate, because both the meat and the rice were just okay. Curious Yelper, This food is NOT mediterranean and is NOT good. It IS however OVERPRICED and OVERRATED. I got the ground beef kufta kebab plate to-go. Includes rice, hummus, and pita bread. The kufta kebab is VERY overcooked and VERY dry. It looked and tasted like a big fat burnt turd so I stopped eating it after 1 bite. Somehow I managed to give the meal a second chance by trying the rice, hummus, and pita bread which was also VERY disappointing. I don't mind this food if it's cheap because what you spend is typically what you get. However, it was actually quite pricey and was the OPPOSITE of getting what you pay for. One thing I will say in fairness is that to-go food is also a little bit risky because it's not as fresh anymore when you get home. However, I highly doubt it would have been much better. They are lucky I didn't eat it in the restaurant or I would have made a scene it was so disgusting. So, if you insist on eating at this place at the very least do NOT eat to-go food from here because then you are left with a giant waste of time, money, and still lacking food to satisfy your hunger. I finally ventured down here last night after reading a number of the positive reviews. Though typically the 'Gyro House' is my go to joint, I decided to mix it up a little bit. It was surprisingly busy for 9:00 on a Saturday...cue Billy Joel... I kid. I kid. Anyways, I wasn't too adventurous, opting for the Chicken Kabob wrap, while the bf went for the shawerma wrap. We also sprung for a side order of hummus a a few pieces of falafel. Obviously, my eyes were way bigger than my stomach, because I could hardly finish the wrap. This isn't to say the food isn't tasty, because boy is it ever. The chicken, organic all the way, was perfectly cooked and tender, not dry as it so often has a tendency to be. The shawerma was also deliciously moist and so flavorful. The pickles, which I've never had anywhere else, were an awesome touch. Though skeptical at first, they've won me over for sure. The hummus was a little on the lemony side for my tastes, but that's just a matter of preference and it didn't stop me from devouring more than my fair share of the very generous order. I didn't get to the falafel until lunch today, and while it was still tasty, I'll reserve final judgment until I can eat it piping hot. All in all, this gets a total thumbs up and is a welcome addition to the downtown scene. read more

Ate lunch here because my child insisted on it and said the hummus was awesome. I don't know, but it tasted slightly bitter to me. It's a bit pricey for lunch, but at least it was served quickly. I was going to order a wrap, but at the last minute changed my mind to order a platter, which was a big mistake because it was too much food for me. The meat was kind of dry, but tasty. Lots of people seem to like this place, as it was crowded. I like Rose Market better, so I'll probably go there next time I want this type of food. read more

Cute location, friendly staff but only average food. While I usually prefer Gyros House a little further down Castro, I decided to give Mediterranean Grill House a go. I ordered the falafel wrap and the beef/lamb shawerma wrap to go. Both were fairly hefty for the price ($6 and $8 respectively). The wheat wraps were nicely grilled and the vegetables fresh. The falafel were pretty good and still fairly crunchy despite being in the wrap and the drive home, but I found the shawerma a little dry and not particularly tasty. The tahini sauce was pretty good, though a touch on the thin side for my tastes. Given what has been aid by other yelpers, I was surprised when I called in my order and was told it would be ready in 5 minutes. Went for dinner for the first time and not impress at all. They advertise their beef comes from Harris Ranch that are corn fed. That's information not to brag about since cows are meant to eat grass, NOT CORN! Every cheap beef on the market are corn fed. I ordered the falafel and eggplant wrap for about $9. They charge extra for the eggplant but only a few bits had eggplant. A friend ordered the same thing and complained that he didn't have eggplant, until he got to the bottom half of his wrap. My wrap was dry but other people in my group was dripping wet from sauces. Inconsistent wrap making and they use tortilla wraps, not authentic. Definitely not coming back. I rather go to Dish Dash since they give me salads or fries on the side for the same price and better quality wrap. read more

Love this place! everytime the food is delicious and FRESh. I usually order the falafel plate and a cucumber salad. They make the falafel balls as soon as i order them so i know im getting fresh food. Love, love, love Mediterranean Grill House as a cheap option for good, Mediterranean food! The restaurant itself is small, and tries to utilize as much seating area as possible. Tables are packed closely together in order to fit as many people into as small a space as possible. That said, outdoor seating is also available, which helps to avoid too much crowding! Red chairs with black cushions are seated at red wooden tables with a black outline. Nice color coordination! Service is quite friendly. They take your order at the counter, and are happy to offer recommendations. The hummus is one of the best I've ever had anywhere. Very, very tasty, with a nice lemony flavor to it. The presentation of it is fantastic as well; they include pickles (both green and pink) along the outside of the plate, which really frames the dish well, and makes it kind of pretty to look at. I've also done their Kebab combo, which comes with one chicken kebab and one kufta kebab. The meat was very tender and juicy. Mediterranean Grill is an extraordinary option, especially for the price. Wearing masks to take people's orders. And his register is well distanced from where you can enter your credit card or use Google/Apple Pay. Eat outside or take out are both available. We order two double kufta plates, and one combo kufta with chicken kebab. We've also had the chicken schwarma and that's great too We always skip the salad and hummus and just have rice and their awesome garlic sauce/dip with pita (super garlicky just the way we love it). We have been going there for years. Family run business. They used to have various sisters and brothers there, but there is one of the brothers still there, always friendly and accommodating. Our kids have grown up going to this place from barely sitting in their chairs and sharing from our plates to now full grown adults out eating us. Their desserts are great too. I ordered the beef shawarma plate, but with modifications due to my allergy to bell peppers and low-carb diet. Bestima took my order at the counter and was very accommodating. The beef was good and tasty, the cucumber yogurt and hummus were excellent, and the pita bread was best in class. The tabouli was really good, lots of greens and not too much grain, but was a little too tart for my taste - I'm guessing that's how it's supposed to be. Food: eating the chicken shawarma wrap was an unfortunate experience. The chicken was over-cooked and very salty; it looked and tasted like poorly made mystery meat. Instead of fresh house sauce, I got some oily soup dripping out. Also, I asked for it "spicy" and instead I got pickles... Atmosphere: flies roamed freely inside and the lighting was poor. I love me some shwarma! It's tasty stuff and this here's one of the best places to get one in the area! Is it the right place at the right price? It's pretty close. I liked the kufte quite a bit, and it was in-line with a lot of other places around that serve the stuff and aren't nearly as good. The sizes are big, which is a giant plus for those of us who just eat a lot. The Chicken, whcih I only had a bite of, made me wish I'd ordered it. The Service was OK. This has always been a place I wanted to try. I finally had the opportunity and really enjoyed my experience. The service is incredible! On my visit, I ordered a few things, one of which was their garlic potatoes. Unfortunately they were sold out of that. That was definitely a sign their potatoes must be good. The cashier then surprised me with something that most restaurants nowadays don't do. She offered me a free order of French fries and a cup for soda. Then we checked the order and they had given us lamb wrap instead of gyros, and had put the sauce inside even though I asked for it on the side. Disaster. My favorite Mediterranean food joint in Silicon Valley!! Their three meat combo plate comes in at a pricey 15.99, but it packs in the protein, and the kebabs are cooked to perfection! I've also had the gyro plate which is also delicious at a more reasonable price. My friend has gotten the falafel wrap and I almost ate it a long with my plate it was so delicious. All the meat is halal, the place is always kept nice and clean, there is PLENTY of outdoor seating, and the two brothers who own the place are extremely nice and the customer service is top notch. I opted for the veggie platter, which came with all sorts of goodies: falafel balls, dolma, hummus, babaganoush, potatoes, and your choice of salad (I opted for tabuleh). All dishes are served with pita on the side. The falafel was SUPER crunchy - yum! No sogginess here, and clearly very fresh. Great flavor on the hummus and babaganoush, as well. Portions are perfect for one. Overall, a great spot for lunch! The tables outside are a nice touch for al fresco dining - the place was a bit stuffy indoors. I keep coming back here. I had tried the falafel plate earlier, but most recently I got the falafel wrap. This is a delicious vessel of chickpea and spices. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the tortilla worked, and I even tasted more spices with everything wrapped up together. Plus I could add a huge side of hummus for $1.25 more. I've also enjoyed the chicken plate and how you get a heap of rice, cucumber salad, and your choice of hummus/more salad with it...plus pita bread. This is right downstairs from my new office, so I thought I'd try it out. Service for take out was fairly quick, and the place was clean. I ordered the chicken shawerma and a side of 2 falafel. The portions were generous, so this easily made two meals. The falafel was flavorful, crisp on the outside, tender and moist on the inside. If I come back, that is likely what I'll order. Now for the negatives. The chicken shawerma was bland and extremely dry. The only seasoning that I could taste on the chicken was mild yellow curry. The hummus that was served on the side was runny and thin, although the flavor was very good. I will likely try this place again, since it's so convenient and close, but I won't ever order the shawerma again. read more

The falafel was very nice during my first outing while I wanted to try something else during the next visit and tried the kabob plate which was .....hmmm, OK.
