This is your always-on-vacation fantasy coffee shop. I can't get enough! I'm now upset cause its 5:45 and they don't open until 7! Can I make it?! So far I've tried the iced coffee w Ibarra chocolate and peanut butter syrup latte (current fave), and the iced coconut latte (yum) and they are all rich and smooth without being too sweet or thick. I absolutely could not love this place more. They have a great selection, everything is very fresh, and the customer service is beyond awesome! The iced vanilla latte that I ordered was simply perfection, and they had a ton of other syrup options for those that are looking for a unique drink selection. This is a very cute coffee and tea shop located at the corner of Goldfinch St and Fort Stockton St. It is decorated with lots of small items and has few tables on the street for customers. It is a perfect location in Mission Hills to get many people passing by. I ordered their ice black tea, which was flavorful and freshly brewed. The owner was very friendly providing us a sample of chai green tea slushy. I like this place and certainly come back sometime. read more

Pretty darn good:-) I was told told about this place by some friends of mine who we use to be neighbors with in Little Italy. Our go to spot there was Cafe Italia, which has amazing coffee, but now is a distance to get to. I'm not a starbucks type of girl and finding that perfectly flavored espresso isn't that easy. This place carries Cafe Motto which is one of my fav's! I always order an americano so the flavor or the espresso is very important. It's simply espresso and hot water so you can't mask the flavor behind cream and syrups. It simply is what it is so it's got to be done right! This is a great little neighborhood spot that although doesn't offer a lot it's great for your on the way to work morning coffee or a mid day pick me up. They are only 7 weeks old and I'm hoping that in time they sell coffee beans to take home. I know this place is going to do great! Welcome to the neighborhood! read more

Stopped here for the first time this morning. I teach yoga sometimes in the morning in Mission HIills and have seen this place many times when leaving to go to work. This morning I finally had time to stop and pick up some coffee. The girl working at the window was really nice and friendly. I got my coffee and a recommended blueberry scone as was on my way. The gentleman working hooked me up!! "dirty gurl" was the name of the drink - chai latte mixed with coffee instead of milk. i found the flavor to be a nice blend...neither the coffee nor the chai over-powered the other. Love! I can't believe I've lived in the neighborhood for almost a month now and only just found Meshuggah Shack. While out on an early evening stroll, we happened to stumble upon this place. The kitschy decor drew us in, and the great coffee will keep us coming back. A few little tables so you can sit down and chat, but not the sort of place where you'd camp out and study for hours. First of all, the lady who owns this place is so nice! She genuinely seemed interested in connecting with me, which, let's face it, rarely happens at a coffee shop, or at least certainly not at coffee chains. She asked me about myself, and we had a good conversation. My husband and I are living in San Diego just for a month while he does a rotation at a hospital here. This coffee stand has such good reviews, and I wanted to make sure to try it before we leave. On my birthday, I treated myself to something creative here for my first AM coffee fix. I asked the barista what she recommended, letting her know that I wanted something unique but not too sweet. They have so many interesting combinations, so it was hard to decide! The "Serpent's Kiss" seemed to call to me, and sure enough that's what she recommended. I was wary, though. I adore spicy food, but Sriracha in my coffee? I just didn't know about that. But she assured me that it was very good, and that she would make me a new drink if I didn't like it. I have never been offered that in my life! I ended up loving it. It's basically a mocha with a little bite afterwards but no Sriracha taste, and it's the perfect level of sweetness. I'm afraid now that I'm a little addicted, and I'm not going to be able to find anyone to make this drink for me anywhere else! And I'm sure not going to try it at home, since I imagine the wrong balance could be traumatic for the taste buds.... I had better enjoy it for these last two weeks I guess! read more

Awesome little place I tried while in San Diego for the weekend. Stopped by here twice on my way home from a couple of runs, and was not disappointed. I only had one thing (was so good I had the same thing twice): The El Kinky Nut. Just delicious! They have a ton of specialty drinks they make, and I actually had a hard time deciding which one to choose. What I really liked what the niceness of their staff. I had brought only my debit card while out running, and it turns out that day their debit card machine was down but I had already ordered my drink and literally had no other way to pay. They very nicely wrote me out an IOU and just told me to bring cash back later. Really appreciated that! The outside seating is quite cute as well. A few tables here and there, and is great for people watching and over hearing conversations. Or if you're like me, great for a post run reward! read more

In the best of ways, I don't even know where to start. In a world full of Starbucks and other corporate coffee shops, where their is more caffeine in your cup than taste. I can find some solace on those groggy mornings at Meshugga Shack. The style of the shop is the definition of original, finding some sort of harmony in the mosaics of Barbie dolls and Jesus figurines. It has interesting and brave drinks, while still offering all the classics. The staff there are as genuine as they come. Throw out that image of the dirty hipster serving you a pretentious drink. Every time I go there I am greeted with a smile, and some authentic words of encouragement. I don't care where I work or live, Meshugga will always be a preferred destination for my caffeine boost. There is no question in my mind as to why this place has gained a following and is opening up a new location. A+ read more

I started working right around the corner about 4 months ago, and every single time, I'm welcomed by the friendliest of smiles. Great location and the best coffee in the area! Every one is different, yet everyone is the same. As a customer who's worked retail for many years, their customer service is phenomenal. And for their loyal customer (like me), they have a punch card where for every 10 drinks you buy, you get the next one free! This place has better drinks than most coffee places, and at great prices!
