Have always loved this place for the coffee and friendly service, but yesterday I went just after gashing my foot on some glass and trying to dress the wound myself by tying a tank top around it. Two words... Sparkle Pony!!!! My favorite drink! We friggen love this place with a capital L O V E! Not only because of the bomb.gov drinkable items on their menu, but because of the super awesome bomb.org people they got running the shack! Everyone here is like literally the nicest person on the planet. And I'm not talking nice for a person in customer service nice, but what I mean is, nicer than your grandma baking you a dozen cookies for you and your date on prom night when you were kinda feeling down because the guy you wanted to go to the prom with denied you and chose that stuck up miss thang Stacey and you ended up having to go with your cousin Tito and the dress you wanted didn't come in your size and you had to get the one in that hideous chartreuse color that makes your eyes wanna vomit every time you look in the mirror. (I could definitely see this place having horrendously long lines all the time if it was located on a bigger street in the heart of Hillcrest, or something.) The Meshuggah Shack has ruined chai for me forever, because I have yet to find another place that makes it even half as good as they do. I can't speak for anything else on the menu as I'm addicted to their chai (during the fall I have it with pumpkin..which is also amazing), but my friend also really enjoys their coffee. The only bad experience I had was there was a dude working behind the counter who snarked at me when I asked for vanilla in my chai, and was overall just a grumpy ass. Maybe he was having a bad day or something, or maybe someone pissed in his cheerios- I don't know. That being said I wouldn't take a star off since all the other workers I've encountered there were really nice and cool. :) read more

A gem in Mission Hills! I've lived in San Diego my whole life and stumbled upon this adorable coffee spot. The decor is quirky, artsy, and made me feel like I had found a bit of burning man in San Diego. The barista was a sweetheart- sorry I cannot remember his name. I tried a Dirty Girl (a dirty chai made with coffee instead of milk), and it was delicious! Not too overly sweet. Amazing flavor. Since it was my first time there, he also offered me a free shot of their Disco Juice (cold brew). It was the smoothest cold brew I have ever tried. I could drink it straight without cream or sugar, and it was like cool liquid velvet. This is definitely a spot to check out! read more

Love this place! my husband & i tried it for the first time after driving by it every day. I love this place. The shack used to be an old ATM on the corner of Goldfinch until John the owner completely converted it into the best coffee shack around. I am pretty plain when it comes to my coffee order. I just order a large coffee. I know it's boring but this is the reason the coffee needs to be so good, because I can tell right away if it's not. Everyone is so friendly and they give my dog a treat every time. You have to try this place!!! The hours are usually 7am-2ish and they are closed Mondays. read more

Great use of a former ATM~ Moto coffee and fetching tchotchkes to peruse while you wait for your beverage. Note-only outdoor seating & not a great place to clean your thermos since they bring in their own h20 -- it was an ATM remember! --still, it's a perfect stop on a bike ride when you're parched &/or want some friendly conversation. A shack indeed! Placed in quite the random location, but I enjoyed it! I sat at the only (or perhaps one of two) tables they had, and just enjoyed the view from the street. There wasn't a scenic view or anything since it was just at the corner, but I enjoyed the nice weather and people watching. There are a few other shops and stores around which I later on walked on over to. Coffee was good and parking was easy. My iced coffee was delicious! I hobbled here on crutches, and didn't realize it was cash-only until it was time to pay. I didn't have the cash, but the guy working, Mark, was so nice about it and said I coul pay later. It is a nice spot to sit in the shade and people watch. The cutest little shack in town. Located on the corner of Goldfinch and Fork Stockton, this little green hut is amazing. It was a one man show serving customers on a Sunday afternoon. He was friendly and quick. The decor around the shack is all Jesus theme, bright colored figurines, mirrored tiles, very home-made. They have a lot of outdoor seating around the shack, surprisingly. It was nice to sit back and enjoy my drink. I had the vanilla latte (again, i know!...i'm trying to find my favorite, I suppose)...it was made really well, warmed me up with the shady breeze. Try the Iced Coconut Latte. I added Ghirardelli chocolate syrup for free for checking in on Yelp! The shack is decorated with saints and dolls--some things to stare at for the wait.
