Stumbled upon this hidden gem in Mission Hills and it was such a great find! We ordered their signature café drink iced with breve and an iced bad boy latte, and both were delicious. The coffee was smooth, flavorful, and you can really taste the quality of the beans. The drinks were perfectly crafted with the right balance of sweetness and richness. Vast variety of drinks for all flavor profile. Street parking.

Super cute shop located right next to lefty Chicago pizza in Hillcrest. It's a shack but was popping when I came on a Sunday mid morning. Parking is tough but there is a lot right behind it where you can pay during the week (not sure about weekends) and if you're lucky you can find street parking. You can't miss this spot because it's super colorful. There are a few chairs and benches out but good enough for 10ish people. The service is quick and super friendly which is impressive because it's a one person show. They are taking orders as the espresso brew, answering questions, putting foam on coffees, wiping up messes all at the same time. We ordered the Denise Coconut Latte which had espresso and coconut syrup. It was iced. I'd give that a three star. We also ordered La Lupe which id give five stars. It had espresso, Mexican chocolate, steamed milk and peanut butter syrup. I had it iced and it was delightful to simply put. It was like being hugged even tho it was iced. I know there are a ton of options on the menu but honestly, this was so good I might only get this when I return. Lastly it was super affordable. 6 bucks for a medium coffee. 8ish for a large.

FAVORITE coffee shop in San Diego hands down. I have tried several other places and found myself coming back to this one. My favorite part about the shop is that the drinks are consistently made well even with different baristas. The selection of drinks is wonderful and I love the variety. I would honestly try all of the drink on the menu!!! Might have to make that a bucket list idea!!! The shop is a small little pop up with a few outside tables to enjoy your drink; it has a very quirky yet welcoming atmosphere!!

Went to get my nails done across the street and my husband got coffee here while waiting for me. He said it was good so I decided to get myself coffee afterwards. I got a medium Mexican Mocha, the cup was smaller than most medium drinks but I didn't mind that. The lady manning the place made a face when I turned away when the tip came up on the screen, then proceeded to ignore us when I picked up the drink. (Still gave a tip though.) Not sure if the lady was expecting a tip for a to-go order but the vibe felt so negative. The drink wasn't as creamy as other Mexican Mochas I've had too. It rather tasted watered down. Giving 3 stars bec my husband enjoyed his drink.

Love this place. A brilliant re-use idea, with quirky, brilliant energy oozing out of its seams. The owner, Jon, is a wonderfully kind man who never fails to put a smile on my face. Their miniature patio and outdoor seating areas is the perfect place to watch the day roll by. The bubble machine is genius. Sometimes there will be a xylophone player sitting out front who will take requests. Amazing. read more

Had their "mother's little helper" drink, which is chai with ghirardelli chocolate. It was awesome. BUT, then I had a great idea: mother's little helper with Ibarra Mexican choclate instead of ghirardelli chocolate. I really liked the drink better with the Ibarra Mexican chocolate. When it has the ghirardelli choclate, the drink is way too sweet (and that's coming from someone who will eat all desserts in sight). Excellent service. read more

This place makes super tasty drinks. Pair that with a very helpful staff that understands the value of good people skills while not maintaining that slapstick caffeinated approach to service. It's just a cozy place in the hood and I'll happily call it my spot. read more

I have had the best chai and dirty chai of my life here, twice. They do it a little different by replacing the milk with coffee instead of adding a shot of espresso and it. Is. so good. On top of that the vibes are always so pleasant from whoever is working that day. It really will start your day in a good place stopping here. read more

Great coffee with a great sense of humor! I love the mocha cappuccino made with Ghiradelli! My wife and I visited every morning on our great vacation in San Diego! Cute decor with a kitschy religious humor theme! They have an 8-track of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' on display and much more like minded stuff! I have been a regular at Meshuggah Shack for several months now and I have never had a problem with any drink I have ordered. (Even though I order the same thing almost every time, lol) Each employee I have met has been excellent. Friendly, joyful, and full of giggles and each one makes the perfect drink! By the way, they don't call it a crack head chai for nothing! I am addicted! If you're looking for a new local coffee shop to try, definitely hit this spot up. I get regular or iced coffee here daily, and it's awesome. Not only is the coffee delicious but there is always something to look at since it looks as though it were decorated by someone on mushrooms who had access to several lifetimes' accumulation of weird novelty stuff- from combination dinosaur/barbie dolls to books of failed inane Japanese inventions. The people are very friendly and also there are hula hoops, outdoor seating (it is literally a shack, though they do have a heat lamp) and frequent offender cards. I've been in SD 5 years and buy coffee daily, and this is by far the best tasting coffee I've found. read more

I just want to say I absolutely LOVE having this little coffee shack close to work! 'Eric's Bad Boy' is my drink !! Extra caramel with that espresso makes my day every day!!! I'm a pretty picky coffee and espresso drinker, and Meshuggah Shack is my favorite coffee place. All the baristas are nothing short of kind and friendly. I'm addicted to their Mother's Little Helper (chai, milk, and chocolate) and the El Kinky Nut (espresso, milk, vanilla powder, and hazlenut). Both drinks are incredible, even better on ice. I can't find drinks like those anywhere else. They also have almond milk, which I love. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with anything here. Thanks, Meshuggah! read more

The store is small so sometimes if the line is long, you have to wait outside. It goes by somewhat quickly. There is seating in the back that looks really nice. There were desserts. We got their sesame cake, it was fine. I would definitely put this place as somewhere to visit. There is street-side parking. If you get lucky, someone already paid for the parking meter.

The service never felt rushed even though we came close to close. I also had no idea we walked in during their "US Hour" from 12:00 to 2:30, so that ended up being a nice surprise. They offer $7 draft beers, $9 wine, $10 mimosas, plus a handful of bites for $9. We started with the Fried Calamari Tentacles from the US Hour menu. They're served with Japanese mayo, although it tasted like there was some citrus mixed in because it had a nice tangy kick. Whatever it was, it worked really well with the crispy calamari. To drink, I ordered the Yuzu Matcha Mimosa. It had a really vibrant green color that almost reminded me of green juice. I actually enjoyed it. The matcha flavor came through without getting lost. My friend wasn't the biggest fan because they thought it leaned a little too bitter, so I think this one depends on how much you already enjoy matcha. For my entree, I ordered the Duck and Waffles ($24), which comes with crispy duck confit, a waffle, passionfruit guava sauce, and chili crunch. This was easily the highlight of the meal. The duck was cooked perfectly. It was crispy on the outside, tender inside, and seasoned just enough to let the meat shine. I also appreciated that the chili crunch actually had some heat instead of just being there for texture. The waffle was light and fluffy. I'm a sucker for sweet and savory combinations, so the powdered sugar paired with the rich duck was enough to win me over. The passionfruit guava sauce was the only part I wasn't completely sold on. It wasn't bad by any means. I just think it's one of those flavors that comes down to personal preference. This ended up being one of those meals that reminded me why I keep a running list of places I want to try. Great food. Great service. A fun happy hour that I accidentally stumbled into. My only wish is that parking in North Park was a little easier, but that's just part of the neighborhood. I'd definitely come back.

The wild rice and poached egg made for a pretty good mix. Other daughter got the Curry Hamburg. She likes her curry, especially Japanese curry. While she did not get transported to Tokyo she did give it a thumbs up. This place is pretty busy and I was fairly impressed with the attentiveness of our waitress. Waters kept full which was handy as it was a bit hot and my car was a good walk away. Would like to visit again and try other menu items.

The best place for the coffee in the town. I happened to go for the hangout with a friend and discovered this lovely place. This place is awesome in the town. the coffee here is good and nice. I have been going here since I have discovered it. I am addicted to this coffee. A good coffee house with all of the facilities and greatness. i am now fan of this place and the deduction of a star is due to a guy whose attitude was not good. Overall it was a good experience. I like hanging out at this cool and hippie place. The place is actually designed and full of weird but good things. Haha! The owner is quite friendly and my daughter Nikka loves looking at Nathan's drawings on the road. She enjoys playing hula-hoop too with her mom on the sidewalk.
