This place's omelettes were so unique. It is an open omelette concept with all the fillings outside of the omelette. I felt like there were too many asparagus in the seasonal veggie one and it overwhelmed me. The eggs were fluffy and cooked perfectly. The smashed potatoes were crispy and seasoned well. I got the special banana pancakes. I couldn't find them on the menu, just through the yelp photos and I didn't just want the pancakes with fresh bananas. But when I said banana pancakes, the gal taking our orders double checked and I confirm that I want the delicious looking ones!! I also got a side of bacon and spicy pork sausage. And the pancakes themselves are absolutely perfect. You know how pancakes sometimes aren't the best and they need the butter and the syrup to cover them up? These were not those. These pancakes were perfect completely on their own. The bacon was good, but I did not get my spicy pork sausage. Instead, I got a chicken sausage which I thought was gross. I took a bite and didn't touch it again. I feel kind of awkward, sending food backs, so I was hoping that someone would notice that I've eaten everything but the sausage and ask me about it but they didn't. They just took it away and threw it out. Bear loved his French toast and the raspberry jam. It came with. I found it to be too tart, but that might've been because the banana stuff was super sweet. We were immediately sat and our order was taken within minutes. Food portions are big and reasonable for the price. We ordered the breakfast Sandwhich with bacon and the culver omelette. Both entrees were accompanied by crispy potatoes and a slice of fruit. A side of fluffy pancakes and we were happily stuffed. Parking seems to be metered only. There was a mistake with pancakes that was easily cleared up really nice people. I got the fruit pancakes with the breakfast potatoes and the spicy pork sausage. The strawberry and banana pancakes were the best thing I had the pancakes were good not great it had amazing texture nice and warm on the inside but a nice harder outside. Just missing some flavor to it that fruit and syrup made up for it but it was missing something naturally. The pork sausage was ok really good texture but I felt like it was lacking flavor. I'm also a big stickler for when something says spicy and there's no kick to it. Highly recommend the banana pancakes! So delicious -- the perfect combination of salty and sweet, like caramelized banana bread in a pancake. Unfortunately my eggs benedict was overcooked, but the flavor was still good. The portions here are huge so worth the price, and you definitely won't leave hungry. Awful experience! My husband and I came here quite frequently 7 or 8 years ago. We always had a lovely experience with lovely servers and wonderful ambiance. I finally decided to return today. The service was so bad that I had to go inside to find a server to take our order after we sat there forever. Later on in the meal, I again went inside looking for a server. This time I took my empty tea mug, walked inside, and requested more hot water. The man gave me the most ugly look, did not say a word, filled my cup, and continued glaring at me. Horribly rude. Absolutely disrespectful. The entire vibe of the place has changed. It's completely uncaring, damn near contemptuous. Horrid man at the counter and MIA server. They don't have a dedicated parking lot, but paid street parking is easy to find in this area. We arrived @ 10:30AM for a Sunday brunch and were able to be seated right away. They have indoor and outdoor seating options and the vibe is more laid back and casual. They don't have a very large menu, but do have many of the traditional classics. I am taking off 1 star due to the food being good, but not great, and also they didn't have any unique items to make them stand out from other competitors close by (there are many). It's important to know that portions are very large here. We didn't even know you could order half portions, as no one told us, nor does the menu do a good job clearly stating that. We only found out when we got the check and noticed we were charged for the "full portion." Would have been nice to know other portion sizes were available. We ordered Iced Caramel Lattes to start which were very tasty and then chose the Eggs Scramble and their French Toast since that is one of their best selling dishes. Both were good, but very large in portion size so hard to finish. I did enjoy that the bread was brioche for the French Toast, and did enjoy it overall, but I have had better versions close by. Overall a solid breakfast option if you are living in or visiting this area of town. The wait times are very short so it could be a great alternative option if the lines are too long and other breakfast spots. read more

Metro cafe is a nice little store front style cafe just off Washington Ave. The decor was very nice with lots of greenery. They had indoor and outdoor seating with umbrellas to block the heat. The service was fast andthe waiters and waitresses were very attentive. They mostly tag teamed duties to ensure that drinks were filled and we had everything we needed. The food was very good, I had the Banana pancakes which was their signature item. The pancakes fluffy and stuffed with banana chunks with a banana foster style sauce on top. I made it a meal with 2 scrambled eggs with cheese and chicken sausage. The eggs were expensive but delicious, however the chicken sausage was not my favorite. Good solid brunch place. It's kind of a small location and is located at the Travelodge hotel. Our group of 4 met at 11am and out of name down. It was about a 20 min wait and we were seated outside. No complaints because it was a beautiful day. I got the pesto portabella omelet with added chicken breast ($7) and came with smashed potatoes, slice of juicy cantaloupe, and choice of bread. 5/5 Ordered 2 mixed berry pancakes but for some reason they just gave us blueberry ones instead... but not mad about it. 5/5 We also got mimosas which were standard 4.5/5 Staff were really friendly but didn't necessarily get my order right. They forgot to add the chicken breast to my omelet and had to follow up twice. I am not taking off a star because they understood and comped the $7 chicken though they still brought it out for me later. I had the smoked salmon eggs Benedict, this was my first time have salmon on eggs Benedict, I don't think I'm a fan. The overall taste of each item was good but I prefer my smoked salmon to stand alone, except for bagels and lox of course. The waiter was nice and the food came out fast. The service is excellent, immediate seating, staff ready to take our order or ask if we need anything frequently throughout our visit, and the wait for food was pretty quick as well. I created my own omelette (mushroom, pork sausage, and swiss cheese), and I swear it may be the best omelette I've ever had. The flavors of each of the toppings were amazing, wrapped in fluffy egg and melted cheese, I was in heaven eating this thing. He thought it tasted too charred. Per usual, their portions are HUGE. Had dinner here last night on what we learned later, was the restaurant's 20th anniversary. We've been enjoying Metro since they first opened and the quality of the food and the amazing staff has remained consistently great. My wife had the ribeye steak with roasted veggies. Cooked perfectly and the steak was huge. Ended up bringing half of it home. I tried one of the daily specials - Cioppino. I'm usually not a big fan of mussels but the other seafood I love.
