From the entrance, the restaurant was clean we got greeted immediately, it's smelled delicious. Lisa our waitress came to take our order she explained how everything worked and she was absolutely awesome. I ended up getting the pulled pork and Mac stack and it was awesome! Accompanied with corn bread WAFFLES! What! It was delicious. My bf got the chicken platter Half chicken friend with mash potatoes, gravy, and vegetables. Worst service I have ever experienced. Our waitress' name was Cheyenne, took forever to take our order, it forever to get our food. When it finally came, I asked for salt and pepper and some hot sauce, which she never returned with. Finally another waitress showed up, I asked her for my hot sauce in my salt and pepper. By the time she brought them my food was cold, and I asked her to heat it back up. I got another 20 minutes later I had asked for my food again. Worst service ever. Over an hour to finally get my food. The first waitress never even apologized for the horrible service. Food was mediocre at best. At least they removed my food from the bill. Not going back. Bryan and his staff always go above and beyond when myself, my boyfriend and his mom go there. Top notch service and favorite spot as locals. I came to Metro Diner the other day with my grandmother and her husband. The restaurant was very clean, I liked the atmosphere, and it wasn't terribly busy. We were seated in the booth in the far corner of the restaurant. Our server Allan was excellent, far exceeded our expectations. My grandmother wanted the shrimp platter, but it wasn't the special of the day. We were fine finding something else for her on the menu, but Allan was determined to accommodate as my grandmother has Alzheimer's and she remembered that was what she ordered the last time we came and she enjoyed it. It warmed my heart that he went out of his way to make sure she got what she wanted because of the sentiment. I ordered the hot turkey plate, it was excellent as always. The kitchen really outdid themselves, this is definitely a new favorite spot for us! The service was impeccable, the food came hot and ready, refills always on time. Good! I seem to always get the same thing every time I go; chicken and waffles, I get it with cinnamon butter instead of strawberry and chicken tenders instead of bone in. Depending on the cook on the day I order, the chicken is usually sooo perfect, crispy and delicious. My daughter loves the chicken noodle soup and my son and I agree that the waffles are amazing- fluffy and tasty. My husband and I love the bloody Mary's, they're a perfect balance of spice and savory. We don't go as often as we'd like because, covid- but take away is quick and easy. read more

We were seated at a dirty table & asked the host to come back and wipe it down again for us. With an attitude she made one more wipe on 1 bench and pushed some more crumbs to the other & walked away. A little stunned, we continued watching her trying to figure out what was going on. Without washing her hands went to the window and picked up plates to go serve to a table. She then went & got a bucket & starting bussing tables then went to the back area & put it down and went back to the host stand to sit more people clearly without taking time to wash her hands again. We mentioned this to our server & I explained I was hesitant to order food based on my experience thus far. She said she would say something and it was clear she did while pointing out that I was the one who complained as the host turned around and rolled her eyes and glared. The next few minutes each person working then did the same thing and one of them took it as far as mouthing to me "I don't care what you say". When our server came back we asked if she shared it was our table who complained & she said she didn't. I let her know I watched the girl turn right around & look at me. I asked to share our experience with the manager as now we didn't even feel comfortable staying to eat with multiple staff staring at us. The manager came over and said her team would never do that and I urged her to review the cameras and talk to her team. She then told me I just glared at the girl that walked by and I said yes, I am now that I see their behavior is coming from the top down. No apology, no accountability, clearly not up on their cleaning practices & bad attitudes all around. I would have give them five stars but the waitress we had whose name was Paige was very unfriendly and basically ignored me and my girlfriend while we were there and felt almost annoyed that she had to help us I don't know what we did or what we said we were very gracious and very polite so we don't know what her problem was the food was five star but the service was one star. I was rather impressed by Metro diner. It was exactly what it is supposed to be. First off, the managing partner, Rita, offered a warm greeting and really made us feel welcomed. The ambiance is also very welcoming and friendly and clean. Next, the food was delicious. I tried eggs, turkey sausage, and chicken salad. All of which was delicious. The chicken salad in particular was very tasty. I absolutely recommend it and look forward to going back. It's just a good old local diner read more

Visiting friends and family in the area and had a chance to have breakfast here. The food was fabulous and the cinnamon roll pancakes were unbelievable. Overall friendly and clean. Our server was Ivy and she was exceptional, she visited us many times to follow up and make sure we had coffee and her cheerfulness was infectious. I placed an order for a Thanksgiving dinner for four people. On Thanksgiving day, the food was supposed to be delivered by Doordash. Metro called me and said Doordash wasn't answering their many calls to them so the manager told me they would have someone from their staff deliver the food to me. I thought that this was pretty amazing service! The food was absolutely delicious! I will order again from them next Thanksgiving. I'm giving it a two because the server was nice, and somewhat efficient. But the food? This place should be ashamed to call itself a "diner". The "huevos rancheros" came out as pseudo-nachos; no refried beans, chips that tasted like cardboard (not even salty cardboard at that), about 12 pieces of canned black beans, a desultory helping of cheese (so little you couldn't even taste it, maybe a teaspoon), and chopped up sausage in squares. The eggs were cold, though cooked the way we'd asked. The grilled cheese sandwich with tomatoes was a tiny bit better, cheap white bread (okay, I liked it when I was a kid) dripping in some kind of fat (not real butter IMHO), with enough cheese but one slice of tomato for the entire sandwich. And there was an up charge for "grilled cheese and tomato" as opposed to just "grilled cheese"!!! The waitress did bring me another slice of tomato when I asked, which I guess is something. read more

We had dinner at Metro diner tonight or we tried to have dinner at Metro diner tonight. However our food took forever to get to us. It wasn't cooked right and then to top it all off a dark hair was in my food. My hair is gray and they told me that nobody back there had dark black hair so it was just a mystery. We asked for a manager and none showed up so we didn't get to eat and it was just a really bad experience. The waiter supposedly tried to make up for it but there was nothing he could do and I think it was him putting the order in wrong to begin with that started the whole bad situation rolling. Still if there is a manager of this restaurant it sure would be nice to hear from them cuz they're certainly wasn't one there tonight. Funny. When my husband asked for crispy hash browns and sent them back as they were soft and undercooked. The cook behind the counter says what did he want him burnt? I love the atmosphere and the service is great. Coffee is good and strong. I ordered the avocado toast. There was plenty of it, but it was not to my liking. I am used to just sliced avocado on toast, but at Metro it is made up ahead of time. The avocado is smashed with lemon/lime (which overpowered the taste of the avocado) and refrigerated, so your toast is served very cold. Perhaps ok in the summer, but not so much on a cool morning. I did not enjoy the avocado mixture. I will go back and try a waffle; they looked good. read more

It's diner food, which is sometimes what I want. I ordered a Rueben sandwich and I have to say, it was the best Rueben I've had since moving to Florida 6 years ago. They made it just like my favorite diner in NY! We arrived a little before 5pm and had to wait a few minutes to get in, they close after lunch and reopen for dinner at 5pm. What makes this a 5 star restaurant is the exceptional staff. Everyone seemed downright happy to have us there. Out server, Cheryl was friendly and knowledgeable. She described the specials in detail, which we like. As we were finishing up, the assistant manager stopped by our table and talked with us for a bit. We were very impressed! Let's get going on this place!! Okay this location just opened and the staff is very good and attentive didn't let our drinks empty before we had refills not pushy about ordering! Portions are defiantly large here! Food is great no funny after taste like some restaurants give after eating. It's not Heavily greasy! Great selection of breads for toast (rye bread) Now the only complaint I had about the pricing was the chicken and waffles and the friend chicken dinner is it's $15.49 for either and that seems like a high price tag for chicken and waffles or a fried chicken dinner Over all experience was great! Great food, great FAST service, a welcome addition to Bradenton! They just opened a few months ago so the word probably isn't fully out yet which is why they weren't fully packed even during high season when it's impossible to get into other breakfast places. Service was very attentive and friendly and they honored all the substitutions I requested to my breakfast combo plate (eggs, turkey sausage instead of bacon, no butter on my toast, etc.). The waffle was delicious, though next time I will order it well done because I like it crispier. Corned beef hash was also very tasty. Will definitely go back to try other things off the extensive menu as well and sample their lunch offering. Highly recommend you try it out! read more

This place probably deserves less than 3 stars however, they have only been open a month so I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. They are priced fair for the food however, the the food itself isn't that great. We went at dinner time and waited for 20 minutes before we were seated which was fine but then we waited over 20 minutes for them to cook our food. The waiter was apologetic however, it still isn't great business but we understood. The avocado wrap sandwich I ordered was mediocre at best, their was too many strong flavors and it was a bit spicy to the point where I couldn't enjoy it. I like spice but in a wrap it's not what I'm looking for. The food was brought out separate since the kitchen was "backed up from all day". The waiter brought fries out which had skins on some sides and no salt. I don't eat fries often but when I do I want them skinless and salted. My husbands food was half a fried chicken - it was maybe half of the tiniest fried chicken you ever saw but it was all fresh and just cooked so it was decent for a diner. The part that we didn't enjoy was the waiter rushing us out; first with prematurely handing us the bill and then asking if we wanted our drink refills in a to go cup which I told him no you can use a glass thank you. It was nearing closing time and the place was packed and it's not that we eat slow so I think we can sit a minute to digest. The waiter pissed me off more than anything with that comment. The manager asked how everything was and I politely inform her of the dissatisfaction to which she gave us a 13$ voucher to use next time. We didn't plan on ever coming back since the whole experience was nothing to write home about and for ~8 dollars you can get better fried chicken at Publix and more of it. After all was said and done, we are willing to try them for breakfast maybe they can handle eggs and pancakes better than a dinner crowd. ***UPDATE: We have been back twice since our first experience to which each time was progressively worse in food quality and overall experience. Coffee tasted like old chicory. I ordered the Philly steak and cheese and it tasted old and it was dried. We ordered mimosas and it was almost all champagne which was cheap tasting with hardly any orange juice. We just had an amazing experience here, and they've barely been open a week. Tristan was our server, and he was super nice and really prompt. I had the avocado toast and got a side of sautéed veggies and it was delicious. My husband had the Reuben with onion rings and he loved it. The onion rings were perfect. Our friend had the Monte Cristo and it was huge, so she has lunch tomorrow. Great staff, bathrooms clean as a whistle, and all around a great experience. We will definitely be back.
