We have a wonderful visit to Mexican Inn Cafe on National Margarita Day. Mexican Inn had an awesome special going on all weekend on their signature margaritas. We were greeted with bowls of those "addictive" Frito style chips accompanied by a mild and hot salsa. I'm so glad they've started providing a bowl of hot salsa. Their regular salsa, albeit very good, isn't as spicy as my wife and I like our salsa. We can not mix the hot salsa to get the perfect heat we desire. Eduardo, our server, was "ready on the spot" in taking our drink orders. Since I've been dining at Mexican Inn for close to seven decades, I know the menu by heart. My wife ordered chicken quesadillas and I ordered the #4, cheese enchilada, crispy beef taco plus rice and refried beans. Margaritas were delivered to our table as we munched and munched and munched on the chips. Oh yummy, I better slow down on the chips and salsa or I won't be able to enjoy my lunch entree. Since it was several hours after the lunch run, Eduardo delivered our entrees to the table. Thank goodness, something else to focus on instead of munchin' on chips and salsa. It was time for a refill of my bowl. Eduardo warned us the platters and food was "la comida está muy caliente - the food is very hot!" My wife and I dug in while also enjoying the wonderful frozen margaritas. Both of our entrees were so delicious. We left Mexican Inn Cafe with very happy tummies. My friend and I stopped by here for a late lunch/early dinner as we were craving some TexMex. We were seated promptly, drink orders taken, and chips and salsa provided to us. While I did enjoy the salsa (they provide a spicy and non-spicy version) I didn't too much enjoy the style of "frito" chips - I did add an order guacamole and thoroughly enjoyed that! For our mains, I ordered the chicken quesadillas and my friend ordered the burrito bowl (brisket). For my quesadillas, they're the typical kind served with all of the toppings and served for a decent meal. My friend did enjoy how bowl but he would've loved it more with a sauce (salsa) topping - by the time anyone came back to our table to check on us he was halfway done eating (he ended up using what was leftover from the chips/salsa). Overall, the food was typical for TexMex and satisfied our craving. read more

The employees are stellar. They are friendly and attentive. The food came out hot and tasty. I have an issue with the condition of the building. The dining room floor is in terrible shape and it makes me worry about what I can't see. Hopefully the kitchen is in good order, but I'm not confident about it. This place has been around since the 1930's, but I had never been there before. My boyfriend and I went there on a weeknight, so it wasn't too busy. Had lunch there on Friday. They are located about 5 minutes from my job and I was able to get in and pickup my carry out order in 5 minutes, as well. I ordered the Chicken Fajita Bowl and the Beef Burrito Bowl. Both came with tortilla chips/Fritos looking thingies, sauce and some white corn tortillas. The food was in a warming container when I arrived which kept it hot and ready for us to eat. Will definitely be back! From what I saw, it was crowded but they had more than enough room to handle the crowd. read more

We love the Lancaster location. Typical Mexican decor and music. They have awesome food served with fresh corn tortillas, fresh corn chips and fresh salsa. Our favorite meal is the cheese enchiladas with chili sauce. They have a great rewards program where it is easy to earn points and frequently have bogo for enchiladas. Everything you can expect from an old school Tex/Mex restaurant, you can here. From the old looking interior to the patchy service, you're clearly there for the food and your company and not the service or aesthetic. The food is amazing and I recommend the corn tortillas. Everything is fresh and made in house including the Fritos-style chips they give you with salsa just for sitting down. Definitely check out if in the area. The food was decent. I enjoyed the chips that were like fresh made Fritos rather than like the tortilla chips at most restaurants. Our waitress was wonderful, very attentive and kind, as were most of the staff. However, when I walked in, I were greeted by a nice lady. A very wound up abrasive man, started taking over and was very angry when I said 5 teenage boys were with me. He told me we would have to wait. The meal went well and the boys from my son's team were very quiet, well behaved, and respectful, more so than most of my son's friends. When they came out of the bathroom, the same guy charged at me, causing an scene, and told me they were rowdy in the bathroom and that we had to leave. I asked if they made a mess or if they caused any damage. He said no, they were just rowdy. I told him that did not sound like them. He would not elaborate on what they had done wrong, just kept announcing to the whole restaurant that we had to leave. Our table had been beside the bathroom and I had heard nothing. As we left, all of the other staff were apologizing and holding doors and being really kind. We spent about $150. We will never go back. read more

I like Mexican Inn Café good food and very large portions. For 11.99 I got the Tiffin Hall platter and it comes out on 2 platters because it is very large. I like the chips and salsa a different twist on the chips. The rice and bean needed more flavor added. They did not have much taste. The flat cheese taco was very good. I like making them at home. The regular crispy taco has good taste and plenty of meat and toppings. As for the enchilada tortillas need to be cooked a little longer so they are softer. These seemed a little under cooked. This location is nice not a real big restaurant. There are 2 rooms that you could be seated in. The one rooms is a little crowded with tables. The place is nice and clean. The hostess greeted us right away. We had a small wait on Sunday at 630pm because they had only one room open. The waitress took our order right away as well. Food came out very fast not much of a wait. You can get a buy one get one free coupon sometime. The food was hot and a lot of food like I said. Good service friendly. read more

We drive over 15 miles to get to a Mexican Inn passing by many other Mexican restaurants on the way! Tonight we ate at an old location that has a "family" feel whereas last week, we ate at a new location that moves at a faster pace. Regardless of the location, the food is consistent in taste. Beef Fajitas are the best with the flour tortillas being large enough to wrap up a good fajita. The chips are different from other Mexican restaurants, they resemble Fritos but taste much better. The salsa has a great texture and tastes great. We always have great service. Mexican Inn has been around for many years. I ate there infrequently until a few years ago when I realized they had the best fajitas. Now, we introduce our friends to Mexican Inn. What is old, is new again. read more

A Fort Worth legend. We know TexMex in Fort Worth. I've been eating at the Mexican Inn Cafe for over 50 yrs. My wife's family, like mine, have been eating there since she was a baby. It's as good as it gets for old school, original, no nonsense TexMex. The frito style chips are the thing that distinguishes them from all other old school TexMex spots. The chili con carne is good enough to eat by itself. Cheese and onion enchiladas don't need meat. The new locations are good, but I prefer the original locations that have been around for 50-60 yrs. read more
