Wow, all I can say is wow. I've been going to Mexican Inn now for all of my 39 years since my parents were going to Mexican Inn before I was born. That all stopped today. Long story short management and service is completely rock-bottom at this location. Definitely this store is in trouble. They've cut severely back on their chips and salsa (one bowl and one salsa per customer not any more). They also cut back on give out the corn tortillas. No butter on the table for the corn tortillas. Another sign of cutting back. So here's a long story if you want to read it,,, Me and my wife and my two children came in and were quickly seated. At that point we were served 3 bowls of chips and 2 sauces. Thanking the server would go back and get more chips and salsa was incorrect. He proceeded to stand in the corner staring off into space as I stared right at him completely ignoring us. Our waitress finally came over and got our drink order. At that time I told her we needed the rest of our chips and salsa corn tortillas and butter like normal. She said oh no problem I'll take care of that. She disappears and goes and brings out an order food to a couple tables over. So at this point is been about 10 to 15 minutes have gone by from when we were seated. Still waiting on the chips and other missing items. At that point oddly the manager comes over and proceeds to ask us have we had our order been taken yet? I proceeded to tell her no ma'am we are still waiting on our chips and salsa corn tortillas and butter. She said oh I'll take care of that but let me go ahead and get your order. I said no I want to get my chips and salsa first since the restaurant was only a third full and knew our food would come out quick. Not giving us enough time to enjoy our chips and salsa and corn tortillas. She proceeds to say and I (quote), well you already have chips and salsa on the table. At that point in complete amazement I proceeded to tell my wife my two children to get up and were leave. The manager proceeded to say as I was walking away, well I try to make it right and walked off. To make it right you listen to your customers and get what they ask for first th come back and take their order. Clearly showing that she wanted to push customers through as fast as possible with the least amount of service possible. Take your chances if you like but I highly recommend not going to this restaurant. read more

The ONLY good thing about this place was the sweet tea. The "salsa" tasted like chunky tomato sauce from a can. The chips were basically warmed up under seasoned Fritos. Entrees $9-$13 This restaurant is extremely loud, not a large space at all - the tables are very tight. No wall separation to keep the noise level down. It reminded us of being in Disney in a really loud line. The chips really are like a cross between Fritos and wontons, with the flavor of nothing. The salsa is also flavorless (unless you think canned tomatoes are a flavor). The queso blanco was very very thick. Like paste. I really was looking for anything positive at this point - and had no luck. They brought out freshly made corn tortillas about half way through our visit, and I spit them into my napkin. Super bummer, as I LOVE fresh tortillas. The service was slow, and the tables around us seemed to stay dirty for a really long time, even though there was a 30 minute wait, and people still waiting when we left. I kid you not, the table across from us had an empty margarita glass and bowl of chips on it the entire time we were there. The quesadillas were pretty good, and a normal human size portion, instead of other places that serve like 30 triangles on one plate. My family went to eat here for a late lunch on Saturday. Service was very friendly, but since it was slow, there were many servers/hostesses just hanging out and being loud. Thought that was very unprofessional especially around patrons. Chips were different but I understand that's their "thing". The salsa was terrible. It tasted like V8 or tomato juice. My kids had mac n cheese and corn dog which they thought were good. I had the brisket tacos which were super salty and it was soupy. I was not able to taste the food because it was soooo salty. The rice was mediocre, had better, had worse. My husband loves Mexican food and he said this was the worst Mexican food he's ever had which is surprising because he is not a complainer. We had dinner here for the 1st time this evening. We were greeted and seated right away, it was Semi busy for a Wednesday evening. A server brought us chips and salsa right away. The salsa was ok nothing special we asked if there was a spicier version and we were given a bowl of chopped raw jalapeños to add to our salsa. The chips were a bit strange like a cross between Chinese noodles and Fritos. Once our actual waitress arrived we order iced tea and Queso Loco. The Queso Loco was the best part of the meal it came out super quick too. For our entrees I had the build your own combo plate with 2 beef enchiladas and a crispy beef taco with beans and rice. My husband had the 3 crispy beef tacos and rice and beans. My food was okay, to be honest I was super excited to eat here as I had had numerous people say it was excellent. However the food was just okay other thank the Queso Loco. There service was excellent however. We may return to try it again but with so many other options around here it may be a while. read more

We were seated quickly. My server was not the friendliest person in the building. Kind of felt like she was new and uncomfortable. We had plenty of chips and salsa. The chips are not like regular tortilla chips, and the salsa taste like it came from a can. I asked the server if they had a particular item that is pretty standard at mexican restaurants, she said no... we don't have much on our menu. She was right. Been three times to really give it a chance. I wanted so much to be head over heels for it, BUT....no deal. We are big on our chips and salsa and the chips were basically tasteless Fritos soaked in grease. (Not worth the calories.) The salsa is meh. I normally get seconds on salsa, but I just tried a few bites then left the rest. Their sour cream has zero taste and has a strange texture to it. Not creamy. More rubbery. Okay so, first impression: these chips look like and taste like more greasy versions of Fritos. Next impression, is this queso made out of Velveeta cheese? Gag. Our quest for a great local Mexican restaurant continues. 4:30 on a Saturday for an early dinner the place was packed on a 30 minute wait. The manager or similar jumped in and sat us on the patio no waiting.. Nice work. The food: Chips and salsa. Or more like tomato Puree was tasteless Entrees I had Fajitas. Again no flavor. You guys need a little more salt. My wife had tacos. Not bad. You really don't want those two word to be the first thing someone says when tasting your food for the first time. Fresh good food, Sweet tea is really good. Service is awesome. The waitresses and waiters seem young but very attentive and mature. You don't see them standing around talking with other employees they are always working making sure the customers are taking care of. Chips looks like fritos but are warm and fresh. Had the WORST experience at this restaurant. They didn't have any tortillas. How is a Mexican restaurant out of tortillas? All of our orders were messed up and instead of getting our missing items the waiter went and filled other tables drinks, get to go boxes and other things for about 10 minutes. When it came time to pay we were charged the wrong amount and it took another 10-15 minutes to correct that. They kept saying they were understaffed but there were maybe 5 others tables there. This is true Tex-Mex. About 7 or so ingredients mixed different ways, the way Tex-Mex has been for over 75 years. (This is a satellite location of the Fort Worth staple that has been around since the 1930s). This isn't about new and fancy dishes, it's just comfort food for those of us who have lived in Texas our whole lives, and my grandmother loves to come here because it is the same food they have always had. That said, my favorite things here are the chips and the corn tortillas. Their masa is unique, and I crave their chips when I leave town. I don't know why so many people on here are complaining about them. They are unique and delicious. I cannot give this place 5 stars though, due to a glaring problem that all Mexican Inns share: the salsa is terrible. It tastes like just tomatoes, almost no other flavors or seasonings. It is jokingly referred to by some Fort Worthians as ketchup. I have been tempted to sneak in my own salsa to eat with their chips! read more

Thanks to "reviewers" Melanie and Shawn. You two have great perspective. I was born and raised in Texas and have eaten Tex-Mex for over 40 years all over this great state, and at some of the most highly lauded restaurants in Houston, San Antonio, El Paso, Austin and DFW. Mexican Inn does what it does quite well and provides great, well flavored, fresh and authentic Tex-Mex. You may have an issue with the homemade chips, but seriously, their homemade and authentic. You have no idea how many places source their chips from suppliers and try to reheat them for service. Yes they have a limited menu, so get over it. The food quality and seasoning is better than any place this side of the metroplex. Great atmosphere, good service, excellent top shelf marg and $0.89 pralines. I'm not sure there's a restaurant around that will charge you less than a buck for anything these days. Also, the salsa is excellent, the guacamole and caeso are good and the taco shells are the best I've ever had. The staff was very attentive, and this was at the peak of a Friday night rush. In conclusion, I'm so grateful that Mexican Inn has arrived in Keller and has firmly landed at the peak of the Tex-Mex experience in the "817"! read more

I think they fry their chips in crack because I'm literally addicted. Their salsa is fresh and not overly hot which allows you to eat way more chips than you should. And if you add the queso, you are definitely in for a treat. The food is typical tex mex. Not amazing, not bad. Just good and consistent. My favorite dish is the Arroz Con Pollo. (So far we have only been around lunch, not sure if they have an expanded menu like some of the others. If so, the Fajita salad is excellent as the meat and veggies come out on a fajita platter and are placed fresh and hot on the salad. And the ranch is fresh and GOOD!! The location is smaller than the others so expect a wait. read more

One of the better Mexican restaurants in the Ft. Worth area has sunk to new lows, when you are seated, they give you Fritos and sauce? This is ridiculous. Some of the mid level Mexican restaurants in the area all have real, even if bought, chips that almost every Mexican restaurant in Texas have. Their prices do not even come close the quality of their food. For a major company that also owns Spring Creek BBQ and Shady Oaks BBQ, this is not what I'd expect from one of the oldest Mexican restaurants in North Texas. Woke up this am and my wife felt ill after having the brisket tacos, which are shredded beef, not Brisket even in their BBQ locations, Their top shelf Margarita they charge extra for is Blanco, not even Repesado or even Anejo which is what I would expect for a TOP Shelf. It reeks of cheapness. Recommend MiPueblo which is authentic and have in house chips and tortillas and the drinks are wonderful. read more

This location has been one of our favorites for a while. However the last three times we have been the service has been extremely slow and my food was served cold! I ordered Chicken Enchiladas and my husband orders fajitas. I'm sure my food is being made first and sits while his is cooking. We found this place in Keller using the Entertainment savings book for Fort Worth. Not difficult to find. Well lit establishment felt safe. Good parking. Seated right away. One menu had cheese and salsa in it - kinda gross, gave us a new clean one. They brought both chips and salsa as well as hot corn tortillas to eat with butter before we ordered; unfortunately by the time we ordered and went to wash our hands to eat the chips and tortillas were no longer warm and we discovered the butter was some form of margarine. Chips looked like Fritos corn chips, and the salsa looked like tomato sauce. It was better than it looked. If you want real spicy salsa ask for their salsa verde. Most of the meals come with rice and beans. We discovered that both the refried and their charro beans have lard or pieces of pig in it. I ordered double rice with my beef burrito, which was very tasty and well portioned. My wife had the beef street tacos and she was pleased with her order. No room for desert but no leftovers either. Waitress and manager were both nice and attentive. It's possible we will return - most likely it will be if other people really want to eat there or if we use another coupon. read more
