The restaurant needs to take better precautions when it comes to food for delivery. My pictures will speak for itself. I ordered through post mates and my food was tossed all over during delivery. I was upset because Meze packed my pita and extra pita, hummus, shirozi salad all together in a weak container that over spilled everything therefor, when I got my food it looked disgusting. I am not going to lie, I was disappointed and immediately wish they would pack side on the sides!! For example: pack the pita individually, pack the hummus in an individual container, pack shirozi salad individually. This place used to be a coffee shop. Then it became Cafe Bravo.. then dropped the B and became Cafe Ravo.. then finally to Meze. Everything but the staff looks the same, the food items are the same, but the prices went up and everything is now served in disposable plates with plastic utensils. I usually get a steak kabob plate, half rice half salad, and change the two sides up depending on my mood. The food is fresh and healthy. Today I noticed there were two hummus that were green and red: cilantro and red pepper. The owner (I think it's the owner at the cash register) recommended the cilantro. I liked it, it adds a little something and it's a little spicy. The ikra (some marinara looking mish mash of roasted eggplant, red bell peppers, tomatoes and onions) tasted more smokey than before, but still good with the meat and the bread. Recently I also tried one of their sandwiches. I got the lule sandwich. The bread is soft and really good, it's not a pita bread like they give with their plates... but beware the garlic sauce.. it's good.. but I felt like I smelled garlic through my pores for the rest of the day. read more

But honestly for these prices I was assuming they'd offer more free sides (just make the portions of each side smaller, even). I've only had the lamb platter here, which was nicely seasoned and very tender. We got the pork skewers and chicken lule (minced chicken.) It was a little salty for our tastes, but we like the choice of salads: cucumber and tomato, stewed eggplant, etc. Prices are about $10 a plate; wraps will be less. Really, I'd give this 3.5 stars if I could but rounding up and I really enjoyed the good parts of what we ordered. We ordered lamb kabob, chicken kabob, fries, and olives.The entrees come with salad or rice and two sides. You also get pita. Really the main reason I'm giving this place 4 and not 3 is because the lamb is pretty good. It's got good lamb flavor and chew and is seasoned well. It's pretty consistent with other lamb kabob places including those found in Tehrangeles. The chicken has some nice charring on it and is still pretty tasty for breast meat. With entrees you can choose rice or a salad. The rice is simply plain basmati rice, no saffron rice, so it's pretty plain. Salad is romaine lettuce. Sadly, there's no dressing (even on the side). Plain lettuce is pretty boring and meat juices don't make a good dressing. Some sort of basic olive oil vinaigrette on the side would be really appreciated and cement this place into a good 4 star review. With entrees you can choose from a large variety of sides, ranging from dips (hummus, tzatziki), salads, and pickles. This is where things fall apart. The hummus and tzatziki is pretty good. Nice and thick and tastes like what it should taste like; no complaints here. I really enjoy shirazi salad. It's a simple dish where every ingredient shines. You have cucumbers for a mild sweetness and some crunch, tender tomatoes for sweetness, lime (maybe lemon) juice for a nice tang, and possibly onions for a sharp bite and some herbaceous cilantro. Unfortunately, all I got was the cucumber and tomato. Just like how the "salad" had no dressing, this had no dressing. It's just a mix of cucumber and tomato. The Armenian pickles (tourshi) are pretty tasty. There's a healthy portion of cabbage, some carrots, and a garlic clove. I really enjoyed this, but it's pretty clear it's not for everyone's taste. The pickling gives it a bright, vinegary bite and there's some heat, too. I found the pickles added a much needed acid to the food. The sides really need to be packaged separately. They're pretty much universally "wet" in that it's either liquid-like/saucy like hummus or there's a liquid component like the pickles. Unfortunately, the main and sides are all packed up in the same takeout container without any real separation. This means your base (salad or rice) will likely get soaked in the liquids of the sides. I suppose this almost make some sort of dressing if you get pickle juice mixed with meat juice, but the combo really isn't ideal. The fries are fine and are nice to dip into the hummus (or tzatziki) and the olives are a container of kalamata olives. Nothing to write home about. The issue isn't about the food per se, but about how the food is prepared and served. On the good side, the flavors are there and make an enjoyable meal. The bad is easy to fix; just wrap up the sides somehow (either in a container or maybe even just some foil) and provide a dressing if someone orders a salad; there's already a "house dressing" so just put that in the takeout bag if someone wants to be low-carb and order a salad base instead of rice. read more

Hovik and Dominique were super accommodating when I needed to split up my 40+ person order into two separate deliveries. The food arrived on time, hot and flavorful, and even weeks later I keep hearing how that was one of the best set meals some of my crew have ever had. Okay, so I love Chicken Masion. But this place has it beat as far as other types of meats, yogurt cucumber sauce, and that white tzatziki sauce is concerned! I got the Gyro Plate (about $10) and it came with greek salad, white rice, hummus, and yogurt cucumber sauce with dill. You get four long cuts of gyro meat and let me tell you it is delicious when you combine it with everything else. The yogurt is really refreshing and the cucumbers give it a nice crunch. The salad already comes with dressing on it, but it's not drowning in it. The rice was so fluffy and light, very nice compliment to the dish. My boyfriend got the Chicken Shawrma Plate (around $10) and it came with hummus, salad, tabbouleh, garlic dip and pita bread. Truthfully mine was a lot better. I didn't care for the tabbouleh (which is a vegetarian dish made of cilantro, tomatoes, onions, mint, parsley, allspice, lemon, olive oil, etc). The pita bread we received were huge! We couldn't finish all of it! And that tzatziki sauce...so garlicy (i love garlic!) and, at first I thought I would want more, but nope, it was the perfect size for two people! The only thing I didn't like was the hummus. It was too watery for me and just seemed to not have a lot of taste. It was the only thing I left on my plate. I didn't realize until I walked in here today after a hike, but this used to be a Cafe Bravo. I had a wonderful meal at CB many years ago. Today, I ordered the Chicken Kabob plate with turnips, rice and cabbage slaw, and my friend ordered a Gyro plate with humus and Tabbouleh. She ate every bite of hers and really enjoyed it. I did not (but I did take it home). All of mine was fresh except the chicken. It was extremely dry. What was weird is that as my friend and I were leaving, we saw another customer with the Chicken Kabob plate, and his chicken looked moist. So, I can only assume what I got was just sitting under a warmer and not fresh at all and the man with the moist chicken who got there after me got the fresh made chicken. Whatever, I can't recommend this kabob. If I were to return, I would get the Greek Salad or falafel plate. Customers were eating those at a second table and both dishes looked amazing. read more

I'd like to begin with I don't like to bash people's businesses, the below has simply been my experience. I've lived local in the area for nearly four years and have always passed Meze on Sunset, curious how their food would be. This evening I was in the area and decided to try it out. Upon entering there were two patrons in the dining room and the establishment felt as though their restaurant had been rather stagnant at the moment. I wanted something light and tasty so I ordered a chicken shawarma plate with greens, hummus, and tabouleh. I was informed my food would be out in less than 5 minutes. That was my first indicator that I probably wasn't going to be served a meal cooked to order. I finish paying for my food and the girl taking my order started picking her dirt and gunk our from under her fingernails. My girlfriend noticed as well and immediately looked at me. I took my receipt and went to the men's room which had a terribly sticky door and suffered from neglect of a good thorough cleaning. It was in that moment I knew I fudged up with my decision to eat there. I go to my seat and shortly 2-3 minutes after receive my plate of food. I quickly started eating because I was quite hungry. Well this is where the travesty continues, the chicken tasted like a rubber ball that was submerged in curry and frozen. I offered a piece to my girlfriend to eat and she spit it out. She is middle eastern and has grown up eating authentic Mediterranean food. I asked her to please get me some tzatziki to try and mask the taste or lack there of from my meal. She approached the counter to ask for some tzatziki and then kindly asked "how do you season your chicken? I'm middle eastern and I've never eaten chicken that taste this way.." they responded with "ohh well it's Americanized, (the elder gentleman who may be the cook interjects) other people order it and love it!" Mostly stunned in disbelief she stood there and then began to walk away, mind you all while being polite. The female employee continued to say " yeah well I like it..". At this point I literally felt like I was on an episode of kitchen nightmares. I tried to continue to eat some of my $11.90 salad. I was constantly stared at by one of the line cooks who kept touching his face and mouth and not once washed his hands. I got up and threw my food out about 35% into it. The hummus had ZERO flavor. Everything I was served tasted dated and or like it was frozen and thawed out for that day. It wasn't until after I left I saw the B from the Department of Health.
