Yooooooooooooooo! This place was supposedly Michelin-starred, and I've actually been here about three times now! It's a super simple, no-frills Chinese restaurant, and the menu used to be pretty limited. But I'm glad they've been adding more dishes because the extra variety definitely makes coming back more exciting! One of my go-to orders here has always been their Spicy Beef Noodle Soup, especially for takeout. I'm a HUGE fan of tendon in my beef noodle soup, so I always load mine up with extra tendon. ‍ This time, though, we decided to dine in and try a few different things. The Chicken Soup was probably the weakest dish for me. It was very plain and mild--although honestly, I could see it being perfect if you're feeling sick and just want something warm, light, and comforting. The Yang Chow Fried Rice was definitely on the oily side... BUT let's be real, sometimes that extra oil is exactly what makes fried rice taste so damn good. The biggest highlights were easily the Lychee-Shaped Shrimp Balls and the Shredded Fried Chicken! Both were crispy, flavorful, and seasoned really well. The shrimp balls were especially fun because they actually looked like little lychees, and the crispy texture was on point. The shredded fried chicken was another standout--crunchy, savory, and one of the dishes I'd definitely order again. The Cucumber Salad was pretty mid for me. Nothing terrible, but compared to the shrimp balls and fried chicken, it just didn't stand out. Service was fast and super friendly, which is always a huge plus. Came at opening on a Saturday with a large group and were seated right away. QR code ordering has many pros and cons, as we discovered. It was great to be able to order at any time and send our food to the kitchen. The issue was that after we had already received our food, more and more and more food kept arriving at our table. None of us ordered the food. On the ordering site, you could see the inputted names/initials from people at our table that ordered and then a bunch of no name/initial orders. They took it away and had to adjust our bill quite a bit. It turned out that the iPad they had available for ordering takeout was attached to our table. Thankful that the servers took care of this once they realized what had happened. Now onto the food, dare I say this is one of the best spicy beef noodle soups I've had? I arrived during their lunch happy hour between 3-4:30 during the week. So I was able to get an appetizer, entree, and a drink from a fixed menu set for $20. I chose mapo tofu with 5-spice peanuts and a drink. The rice dish was flavorful, plentiful, and delicious! I was originally wanting to get my lunch fix from Jomaru but glad I got to try out Mian instead. The seating arrangements inside is why I chose a 4-star instead of 5-star rating. The seats are tightly put together with hardly any spaces in between. You can hear every bite people take and chew / swallow. The sound volume of children screaming and behaving inappropriately would make this place not adult diner friendly. Nobody likes a utensil thrown toward them -- well, at least I didn't. The server's attitude was also curt and not friendly. I get it she was trying to sit down and eat her meal with her daughter during the not so busy hours. This place is fire! My friend & I came on a whim (I saw it pop up on Yelp and my friend said he had heard good things. It was a Saturday night and while the place was pretty full, we were able to score a seat pretty quickly. Shortly after we were sat, there ended up being a wait. Their entire ordering-to-table process is all done via your phone. There is a QR code at the table that you scan and it brings you to the menu. That is where you order. It knows your table number and as soon as you order, it is sent straight to the kitchen. We ordered a chili oil chicken plate as a starter plate and we both LOVED it. We love spicy mala food and this was our first time trying Mian. There was no wait when we went on a Friday night ~8pm. You scan a QR code at your table to order and the food comes quickly, with minutes. For appetizers, we got the Rou Jia Mo (pork hamburger) and the pepper ribs. The Rou Jia Mo was fine, not really authentic with almost a puff pastry-like shell and no veggies. I came across this GEM a few weekends ago and I have been back every weekend since, the food is delicious. From my very first visit the waitress was so kind and it's now become that she recognizes my partner and I when we come in. It can get busy which is a sign of the good food. That location unfortunately closed shortly after, so you can imagine how excited I was when I recently discovered them again in Artesia, California. It was so good to finally have it again. The tables of two have adjacent stools that double as side tables for your water cups, phones, and keys... pretty practical! Love this place!! It's been consistent both times we've gone and delicious. Service is better than the SGV location and way better food. If you're debating which location, this one. SGV is way too salty.. here I would recommend the lamb stir fried with chili - my goodness the meet is so tender and not gamey at all. Flavor 10000/10. We talk about it the whole meal. The spicy sour beef soup was nicely done, it's a balance of rich broth without the fat to weigh you down. The dumplings are so juicy, I tried both styles and the pork hands down has better sauce. The sesame is a really nice touch. The zajiang noodles were good too, the beef noodle soup also good but I'm not a fan of soup so the sour beef is better to me. I will try the tomato next time. The food is good and being a Michelin, I wouldn't expect anything less, HOWEVER, even though I know it's an up and coming thing, I'm NOT a fan of ordering on the app, just to save the business an employee or two. When I go out to eat, I still expect to have someone take my order, and deliver it to me. Also, we were shocked that the waiter was wearing disposable gloves to bring us our food AND he was also sweeping with those same gloves on. A bit disgusting, when you think about it. With that said, the steamed egg with ground pork was my favorite dish for a very reasonable price of $4... but you had to order rice separately for $2.50 The DanDan noodles were FILLED with sauce which had known would have removed some. The mixed STEAMED vegetables (micro tiny baby bok choy) were tasteless and came with a squirt of oyster sauce on them. The cucumber appetizer was fresh and pleasant, as every restaurant has their own take on this. I came here for my birthday and the food was so good, it's a small place but the server is really on it the whole time. I think the spicy beef noodles were by far the best thing on the menu!! The service is quick and ordering is so easy, you can order from your phone at the table and they bring out your food as soon as it's ready. What I loved most was that we didn't have to wait long for our food to be ready, it came out super quick and no wait time at all so that was most definitely a plus. I would definitely come back again and try new things on the menu because everything was made too perfection. read more

Service was great. We came around 8pm so there was no wait. Everything we ordered had great flavors, the only reason I'm docking off points is because our noodle orders were both too oily and overcooked. The appetizers were all awesome and reasonably priced. Went on a solo date here and had a really good time. All the dishes looked amazing, and I really appreciated that their online menu has pictures of the food. I was seated relativity quick and the food was also quick to come out after ordering. The staff is brief but friendly and it added to a good experience. I really liked the option of ordering things from your phone so you're not flagging down staff, it felt really efficient. The inside looked clean and they were organized in getting people in and out. For the food I got the popcorn chicken and the mapu tofu noodles. Both were amazing and I am looking to coming back for them or the beef soup which looked amazing as well.
