I called ahead and I asked what time kitchen closed and she said 9:45pm. 9:09pm- sits at bar. Bartender goes "you are only allowed one drink " me- "we were never drinking i wanted to order something to go" ....never gets us menus or water and manager comes to say what did you drink and i said "nothing because the bartender walks away" One of the worse locations to go to. We normally love going to Mi Cocina and have been at the Campbell location many times before. However, coming to the Preston location has presented more problems on more than one occasion than I care to have. This time around, we were seated quickly and our waiter walks up. We recognized him because he had waited on us before, and apparently he recognized us because he was shaking his head and looking down while approaching us. The last time we were here, he made fun of how young I looked and how old my boyfriend was (he kept calling my boyfriend "old man" last visit), but despite the "teasing" we gave him a good tip anyway. We ordered water, and next thing we know a different waiter comes out, doesn't introduce himself, and hands us our water. Before he started to bolt off, we ordered the sunset queso to start. We were confused but ready to eat, so it was no big deal. The unidentified waiter comes back with our queso, which was super tasty as always, and then we ordered our meals. I ordered the Enchiladas Verdes, and my boyfriend ordered the Sunset Enchiladas with one beef and one chicken enchilada. The waiter brought our food, and we dug in. Much to my reluctant surprise, when I tried cutting in to my enchiladas (they are fried to crispness) they were rock solid. I have ordered this dish several times before, and they have never been that tough. With a knife I could barely break through them. There were soft spots in parts of the enchiladas, but I mangled all three of them to get some of the chicken inside. Even the chicken inside was brown and burnt, and the chicken that wasn't burnt looking was dry as a bone. I didn't want to bother the waiter anymore because I was already displeased with them and didn't want to make a fuss. But, my boyfriend complained to the waiter that they were over cooked. The waiter tried playing it off as how they are supposed to look and taste, but I knew better. I told them I didn't want another plate. Soon, the manager came over and wanted to make sure everything was okay and he wanted to give me another plate of the same thing. I told him no thanks, so he comped my meal. At least they tried to make it right, and least my boyfriend's meal came out well. We got our check, and we identified one of the waiters as Alfredo. We're not sure if the first or the second waiter is named Alfredo, but it doesn't matter much because I wouldn't want to have either one of them to serve us again. Nevertheless, we paid and tipped our 20% and walked out. We will not stop going to Mi Cocina, but we will definitely not be coming back to this location. read more

We had a great experience at Mi Cocina! I had a Dilemma Margarita, which was half strawberry and half mango. The strawberry just tasted like tequila, but the mango was delicious. I would definitely opt for the regular mango margarita next time. We had brisket tacos and Ernie's chicken, which were both delicious. The poblano cream sauce on Ernie's chicken was incredible. We had the chocolate tres leches for dessert. I'm not usually a tres leches fan but it was really good! Unfortunately I can't remember our waiter's name, but he was super kind and funny. Long story short. Upscale Tex-Mex with a few more options above and beyond regular Tex-Mex. My friend and I both enjoyed their outdoor dining for an early lunch. Most importantly, I was impressed by the service -- whether it was keeping drinks refilled, being knowledgeable about the menu (such as mentioning that the cheese enchiladas had onions), and getting our order fulfilled quickly and correctly. And speaking of the outdoor dining, it's a pleasant surprise -- you sit on a sheltered patio overlooking Plano's "Lakeside Lake." Not at all what you'd expect in a big shopping center. read more

Mi Cocina is always consistent in all of its locations. There's lots for the kids to love here too. I really love the tacos mi Tierra and tacos habana. The flavors are amazing!! What more can I say about this mi cocina? I've been coming to this location for 15 years (half my life? What?) and it's one of my favorite places in the world. Tito, the bartender, is truly the maestro of this place. He's been here just as long as I've been coming here! I no longer live in Plano but this is ALWAYS my first and last stop when I come to Plano. The food is amazing and consistent throughout the decades and I would bathe myself in their salsa if I could. I went the last Saturday. We were seated with a waiter by the name of Raffaele. Hope I spelled that correctly. He was so awesome and very attentive. We probably bugged him too much, but he didn't seem to mind and was awesome and helped us with all our crazy wants. He recommended a dish, I do not remember the name of it but something with Chicken, to me and I ordered it. It was good and I told him he knew his stuff. He kept our drinks filled and kept checking on us just the right number of times to make sure we were ok or needed anything. If you go to this Mi Cocina, I highly recommend you request to be sat in Raffaele's (again, hope I spelled that correctly) section. You will not regret it. We went into MiCocina yesterday and placed an order to go. I know the cost of everything has gone up, but wow their prices are crazy high. We ordered quesadillas, enchilada plate, brisket tacos and two margaritas. The bill was $85.00. We were so annoyed when we got home to find the enchilada order had chili sauce instead of queso and we couldn't eat it. We were too tired to go back up there so we threw it away. There are allot of amazing mom & pop mexican places in Plano that we usually go too, but my daughter loves MiCocina so we went there. We were so disappointed, what a waste of money. read more

Absolute worst experience! Haven't been here in years and wow just over all terrible terrible service, sub par food. The minute we walked in we were treated awful. I am shocked and have never been treated so bad. Server came to our table after waiting 20 minutes and said "do you know what you want?"...ummmm okay....from here it was just 100% down hill. Then our server wants to hurry and rush us out?? We were done with our dinner n drinks by 9:45pm and they close at 11pm. Okay so you're tired of working are you??!!Guess so because he sat at the booth next to us and checked his own cell phone???!! Really?? We spent over $200 in food and drinks and will never return!! Absolutely insured and pathetic. The staff and management at Mi Cocina doesn't care. The "people in charge" are laughable when you tell them what's going on. Bartenders don't care about service or you either. My husband even had to get up and order a drink from the bar since our waiter was so bad. Please SAVE yourself and go somewhere else! Very impressed with the service we received at Mi Cocina. We called same day to make a reservation, specifically on the patio for a large group. When we arrived our tables were ready and the service was very attentive. They divided our table into two servers. We never had to look for someone to refill our drinks or take our order. They held our cake in the back fridge until we were ready for it and when they brought it out the candles were already lit and they had the extra plates and forks ready. They did not even charge a gratuity tip due to our table size. Other than the amazing service we received I loved my shrimp tacos and the brisket quesadilla. We have become regulars here and come at least once a week. We prefer the bar and can't wait for things to get back to normal and be able to sit and chat with Tito. For now we try for a round booth or the patio and they are always accommodating. The Rico salad chopped is a great deal and a huge salad. All the food is consistently good. Tito makes the best drinks of any bartender in the area and we look forward to visiting. They seem to be using all safety precautions with a sanitization station, masks, gloves, and proper social distancing with tables. We enjoy being able to visit again. This place has been a favorite of mine for 18 years plus. I came again today, and the service as always was fantastic. Hands down, they have the best margaritas in the DFW area. ( and the best bartender Tito ) The food was fresh and delicious. So glad to get to dine in again here after COVID 19; and they have reopened in the safest way possible. All employees wear masks, have a sanitizing station, bar closed to avoid crowding for drink orders from patrons, tables separated at least 6 feet apart. The ambiance at Mi Cocina is energetic with a beautiful and comfortable patio overlooking a fountain and water feature. The Mambo Taxi's are the best and there are many menu selections, my favorite is the Shrimp Brochette. I always order flour tortillas to make a fajitas with the unique and flavorful butter sauce. The food is consistent and the menu options are perfect for any of your Mexican favorites. The bar offers an array of beverage selections with margaritas as their specialties. This was a difficult review because Mi Cocina is our "go to", especially after a long day or week, but the service is spotty, even sketchy. You wait for more tortilla chips, you wait for more water, you wait for a second or third cocktail and need I go on? You can anticipate to sit with dirty plates in front of you and if you complain, the best part is that no one cares! The service is less than adequate and I only gave two stars because of how we have been treated the past two visits. I was extremely polite and direct, but the "Manager on Duty" simply doesn't care. I had no regrets letting them know that we're heading back to Blue Goose. Better service, less expensive, good food and great atmosphere. I'm sad because I like Mi Cocina, but after the treatment and service we received, I won't recommend Mi Cocina nor will we return. read more
