I was really looking forward to trying this place, but unfortunately it fell short of expectations. The food was pretty average, and there are several other XLB spots in the area that I personally enjoyed more. The restaurant is mostly self-service. We seated ourselves, ordered ourselves, and even the water was already set on the table. The biggest disappointment was the service at the end of the meal. When I asked for the bill, I paid in cash and had the amount ready. I was planning to leave a cash tip on the table, but before I even had the chance, the server looked at the cash and immediately said, "You know this doesn't include tip," in a very rude and dismissive tone. What bothered me most was the assumption. I always tip and fully intended to leave one, but I wasn't even given the opportunity before being called out about it. Considering how self-service the experience already was, the comment felt unnecessary and quite off-putting. It completely changed my impression of the restaurant and left a bad taste in my mouth. Overall, the food was okay, but the service alone makes it hard for me to recommend or come back.

Love that mian has mamak stall style mee goreng here with unmatched wok hay. I was sad to see the previous spot before Mian go but am happy to see that in its place is an amazing eatery in its own right. The workers at Mian are very friendly and personable and interacted with our dog when my partner picked up takeout the first time he went. My partner is mala fiend and loved the zajiang mian. He also really like the beef noodle soup for its rich flavor and bouncy noodle texture. Personally I really appreciated the menu price--great value for the cucumber salad, steamed egg, and XLB. The XLB soup was incredible, once again very rich and savory with hints of ginger. The strength of Mian is definitely in its tried and true flavor profile. I will be returning to try the cold noodle! I will also be ordering the fried rice, which seem like they would go perfectly with the steamed egg.

New Mian East Bay location conveniently opened in Milpitas! I've been to the Cupertino location before and I have to say, this new restaurant is bigger, less busy, and just as good (if not better). Fast service without sacrificing that Michelin Guide quality that put their food on the map. The inside space was really nicely decorated with mah jong posters and Chinese food stand facades, and there were plenty of tables and chairs. Definitely can accommodate the foot traffic of the South Bay location once word gets out. We came in for a Monday dinner and ordered a little bit of everything to share family style -- this is the way to go! Chengdu Zajiang noodles: Really good, I preferred this over their beef noodle soup. Great ratio of meat to sauce to noodles and was very flavorful. Pan fried pork buns: Good size and nice texture! Pan fried soup dumplings are the perfect combo of XLB and potstickers. Pork XLB: Good but the wrappers ripped easily, possibly because we waited too long before eating them. Tofu skin & celery appetizer: Something a little different, but would pass on it next time.

Been craving cold noodles and Mian knows how to deliver! The chicken cold noodle was extra yums. We ordered the XLB and pan fried buns and they both came out pippin hot and delicious. Service is very attentive and we didn't have to wait too long on the weekend when we went for lunch. If you're looking for cold noodles this is the spot!

3/5, wasn't terrible it wouldn't be in my personal choices as a place to go but if my friends or someone wanted to go i wouldn't be opposed to type of place - firstly everything was okay, it is what it is but also lacking a little bit to the point is literally is just what it is - enjoyed the suace on the wontons -the soup flavour was good, the noodles were good but together they didn't seem to go well as the noodles didn't really pull or take any of the soup flavour so it just tasted like watery noodles that the texture is good -the lamb is good as well strong chinese meat flavor that i enjoy

We came on a weekday dinner. It wasn't too busy, so we were seated quickly. You'll order using a QR code, and they'll bring it out to you. We ordered a steamed egg, panfried pork bun, Chengdu Zajiang noodle, pork xiao lonb bao, and Chengdu fried rice. The non-dumpling orders came out incredibly quickly! The steamed egg is a massive treat. Make sure you order at least one per person, otherwise your relationships might be strained after fighting for it. The egg was silky-smooth, and the sauce and pork added a nice salty kick. The Chengdu Zajiang noodles were tasty, too. The sauce clings well to the springy noodles, and the bits of ground pork supplement the texture. The chengdu fried rice is also tasty. The rice is fluffy and well seasoned, and there's a decent amount of egg. The pork xiao long bao is pleasant - the wrappers are thin, but do not yield so easily to your chopsticks; the broth is piping hot and full of flavor, and the meat is plentiful. The pan fried buns were our weakest link here - the fillings aren't as tasty as the xiao long bao's, and it was a little too doughy for our liking. We liked that they were crispy, though.

This new Mian location is amazing.. the same food you love, but in the prime location of Milpitas along side with some other great dessert options to enjoy after your meal. The interior is newly renovated with bright neon signs, vibrant decor, and thoughtful bamboo finishes throughout the space. Interior is clean and well maintained. Come before 6:30 pm if you're coming for dinner and don't want to wait. Chengdu fried rice - 5/5 Fragrant delicious fried rice that is simple yet comforting. Add some chili oil on top for that extra depth of spicy flavor. Pork shrimp dumplings (steamed) - 5/5 Super plump sweet pieces of shrimp that pair nicely with the juicy pork meat. Definitely order this. Siu mai with sticky rice and mushroom - 5/5 This was a fan favorite at our table. The sticky rice has an unbelievable umami flavor profile that makes this dish completely underrated. The sticky rice is comforting and hearty. The dumpling skin is so thin and delicate- just enough to notice that its there and give a little chewy texture. Service is fast and friendly. You can order via QR code online as there is free wifi offerred. Just let the workers know when you're ready to settle the bill. If you're looking for a comforting meal with lots of variety to share among a family meal, check out Mian.

Yummy delicious comfort foods! Look no further. I love noodles and dumplings! This is a chain and they have several locations and funny this is the first time I've eaten here and wont be my last. There's a QR code on each table where you can look at the menu. Here's what we ordered: Xiao Ling Bao (6pcs) $10.99 (4/5) Super plump and juicy once popped in your mouth. Make sure for it to cool down a bit before indulging or it'll be piping hot Chocolate Xiao Ling Bao (4pcs) $7.99 (5/5) Creamy milky warm chocolate goodness in your mouth. The kids loved this one! Crispy Sichuan Style Chicken $9.99 (5/5) Really juicy crispy and well marinated bites of popcorn chicken with a spicy, sweet dry dipping sauce. Really tasty Chendu Zaijian Noodles $14.99 (5/5) This noodle dish is one of their popular dishes. It comes with one fried egg, bok choy, ground pork, soft noodles in a sauce which you can customized to be more spicy. The spice is a numbing spice so beware of getting it too spicy and make sure to mix well as the sauce is on the bottom. We also added a side of braised beef for extra $6. Spicy Braised Beef Noodle Soup $15.99 (4/5) This was similar the above dish but had soup in it and no ground pork but braised beef. If you want more a soup dish then I recommend this. Service was great and the space was very clean. Everything was super tasty and delicious. I will definitely come back to try the other dishes!

Randomly came across this location when we went to have lunch at Daeho in Milpitas! It took over the old Layang Layang restaurant, right next door to BBQ Chicken. On our first visit, we came on a Monday around 9am. Apparently they have a VERY limited menu during breakfast hours, which is until 11am. All the items I wanted to order were not available. The waitress did suggest some items we could order but we decided to come back another day. Wish I knew this ahead of time.. so I didn't waste our time or gas getting there. Anyways.. so we made another trip to Mian on a Sunday and arrived a little past 11am. We got seated right away. The restaurant was spacious with lots of tables. We ordered via QR code.. DUMPLING IN SWEET & SPICY SAUCE (6) $7.99 -we got this with pork filling. Always good. The sauce was garlicky, savory and sweet. The dumpling skin was nice and chewy. 4/5* PAN FRIED PORK BUN (4) $8.99 -came out piping hot and juicy. The bottoms were crispy and not oily. Meat was soft but could be more seasoned. Definitely had to eat it with the chili oil and black vinegar. 4/5* STEAM PORK XIAO LONG BAO (6) $10.99 -came out piping hot and super juicy. The XLB's were pretty big and the dumpling skin was nice and thin. Just like the pan fried bun, meat was soft but could be more seasoned. Definitely had to eat it with the chili oil and black vinegar. 4/5* MEE GORENG MAMAK $16.99 -came with bits of chicken, tofu, tomato scrambled egg and bean sprouts. SO flavorful. The noodles had a nice char and were chewy. Unexpectedly delicious. Our toddler really enjoyed this dish too. 4.5/75* They also sell frozen handmade dumplings to buy home too. Service was super friendly and attentive. One of the waitresses gave extra attention to our toddler and gave him a toy. Would definitely come back again when we're craving!

This place is amazing! We had the golden wonton soup, chili oil wonton, and the spicy braised beef noodle soup. The wontons came out first, and my son ate all of his spicy wonton within minutes! The texture of the wrapper is fantastic. Every bite brought smiles to our faces :) It's easy to tell, they use high quality pork for their stuffing. The flavor was phenomenal. The beef noodle soup was also on point. Overall we were very happy with our meal. The staff were very friendly, and ambiance was perfect for good comfort food, with friends and family. Needless to say, we left with happy bellies!

Super excited to see that Mian opened up a spot in Milpitas! This location is quite large and most tables seat 4 people but I think they can easily accommodate slightly larger groups as well. I like ordering xiao long bao (nice thin wrapper) with savory hot soup inside and tender pork. I order shen jian bao which is the pan fried bun with savory soup and pork filling. Unfortunately, the bottom was burnt so we couldn't fully enjoy the whole bao. Next I recommend rice noodles with minced pork, fried egg, and bok choy. The sauce at the bottom can be mixed throughout and it's got that numbing peppercorn flavor. Great place for a quick, casual, Sunday brunch - just what I was looking for! #26-03-05

Mian is seriously good, and after eating here, it makes complete sense why the brand has Michelin Guide recognition. I ordered the Spicy Braised Beef Noodles, the Mian Veggie Cold Combo, the Steamed Baby Bok Choy, and also tried the dumplings, and everything was excellent. The braised beef noodle soup was the standout for me. The broth had real depth, layered spice, and a rich savory finish that felt polished rather than heavy. The beef was tender, the greens were fresh, and the whole bowl felt balanced and deeply satisfying. The veggie sides were just as impressive. The cold combo added great texture and contrast to the meal, while the steamed baby bok choy was fresh, tender, and simply but confidently prepared. The dumplings on the menu are super good too and absolutely worth ordering. They rounded out the meal perfectly and made the whole experience feel even more complete. Service also made a difference here. Our server, Tuan, was excellent. Attentive, professional, and warm without ever being overbearing. Great service always elevates a meal, and Tuan definitely helped make the experience even better. What stood out most was the consistency and restraint. Nothing felt sloppy, overdone, or there just for show. Every dish tasted thoughtful and well executed. This is the kind of place that reminds you why Michelin-recognized spots matter: strong point of view, precise execution, and food that feels memorable without trying too hard. Mian is the kind of restaurant I would gladly come back to again and again.

As someone from Chengdu, I'm very picky about Sichuan food -- but this was the real deal. The beef noodle broth was deep and properly braised, the chili oil rich and layered, and even the cold tofu and smashed cucumbers tasted bold and authentic. Nothing was watered down. read more

Having a quick lunch at Mian Sichuan Noodles and Dumplings since they have opened one location here in Milpitas, Ca . From their delicious dumplings to the flavor bomb beef chili dumplings and their wagyu onion pie everything was very flavorful and the service was quite pleasant the staff were very accommodating, patient and kind enough to give recommendations and suggest on certain dishes and they were very informative and did not disappoint large portions, and had a wide variety of handmade filled dishes . First time trying Mian and learned they recently opened this new location. Food was delicious and satisfied my cravings for beef noodle soup and dumplings. Beef noodle soup was delicious with a spicy kick (you can select your level of spice) and it was perfect! A decent amount of tender meat and veggies. Dumplings were equally as delicious, best part is you can buy frozen ones to cook at home too. Staff were attentive and very friendly. Service was great. I enjoyed watching the chefs make the dumplings in the kitchen as well. We will definitely be returning soon, highly recommend! Many options for families. read more

Glad my kid insist wanna eat fried rice and probably the best fried rice in Milpitas, if my kid want to eat fried rice in the future, the will be the fist choice between Milpitas / Fremont area. The mee mamak noodle is more on dry side where I prefer it can be more saucy , the beancurd is too dry and change to other type of tofu. We went to Mian twice over the grand opening weekend. The first time, we accidentally stumbled on the opening day. We ordered three noodle bowls and the xlb. All dishes were delicious with the beef noodle soup being the most flavorful - the soup had nice depths of flavor, but next time we will get it more spicy (we ordered mild spicy and it wasn't spicy at all). The zhajiang noodles were also very good with just the right amount of numbing mala spice after I added some extra chili sauce from the condiment bowl. The xlb is one of the better ones we've had. Thin skinned w ample juices. Overall, such a good experience that we came back the next night. We ordered the Szechuan cold noodles w shredded chicken and that one slayed! The flavors were fresh and powerful. We also tried the pork pan fried buns-not as satisfying as the xlb. Overall, staff were friendly and efficient and the food hit all the right spots! read more

Xiao lung bao was completely burnt at the bottom; we requested for a new order and was better. I have to find time to actually take pictures of the food XD before I consume them. I LOVE this place. Since I discovered it I literally go there daily. I like how they open for breakfast at 8:30 am which is super rare for Chinese restaurants in the San Jose area. As most open at 11:30am. Another thing I like is their soy milk. It may not be the best I've had but it is really convenient to come to this location because it's affordable and has a close enough flavor to the soy milk in Taiwan. I love their Chengdu Zajiang noodles. I was a bit nervous because Szechuan food is normally very very spicy. However their mild is flavor but not like "heat" if that makes sense. I can go up to the second level and it's very mild. So if you're looking for the Szechuan spicy maybe there is something else on the menu for you? The price point for this specific restaurant IS SO AFFORDABLE compared to everything else right now. I think if my memory is correct the noodles were only 15$? I also had their Xiao long bao (I did take a bit to eat it but that's because I was watching YouTube) lots of soup, it was good. Their steamed egg such a simple dish to make, very rare to see restaurants make it. But I'm glad they do because it's yummy. Their Baozi prices are more affordable compared to other places. I love their napa cabbage dumplings :) I just recommend it. I recommend going during their lunch hours for faster service. Their breakfast service I think might be fairly new or they may be training new staff so it was a bit slow when I went but mind you I went at like 9am and ordered ahead. Oh also you pay in the store! I just think this place (especially after coming back from Taiwan ) is what I needed to cope from missing the tasty food back home. read more

Got 3 different noodle bowls. All came with same round shape noodle. Taste too soft for me. I like el dente noodle, a little chewy instead of soft. The pork topping was alright. Bokchoy was throw on noodle , must be in a hurry, no arrangement. Xiao long bao has slot of soup. More than Any other place I've been. Taste was decent. With a Michelin sign on the window, it does ask for higher expectations. But since it's just open, the Michelin is not for this location. Interior is nice. read more

I came to Mian in Milpitas today with two friends, and we had such a great experience. We ordered the spicy braised beef, and it was honestly so delicious. The flavor was rich, the beef was tender, and everything tasted amazing. I'd definitely rate it 5/5. Even though the restaurant seemed pretty busy, the service was still excellent. We never felt ignored, and the server made sure we were taken care of the whole time. I don't know her name, but she was incredibly kind and helpful. Since it was my first time there, she took the time to explain the dishes to me in Vietnamese, which made everything so much easier and more comfortable for me. I really appreciated how patient and thoughtful she was. She also recommended that I try the Chengdu noodles next time, and because of how sweet and attentive she was, I'll definitely be coming back. She made such a good impression on me and honestly made the whole experience even better. The food was amazing, but her service really stood out. read more

WOW!!!! This Mian is worth the trip. Their Menu is amazing and different than all of the other locations. The soup dumplings are delicious and savory. The Meat pies are filled with Wagyu beef and are like nothing you have ever tried. My stomach couldn't handle all of my cravings, so we will return again soon to continue the journey. Hygiene alert: Whenever I walk into a new food place, I'd think twice about eating there as soon as I find out the servers are using plastic groves. You can see that they use them for picking up used dishes and utensils, cleaning up the tables, and serving food. I got diarrhea twice from a different restaurant when the servers didn't change their gloves often enough. In here, I noticed they didn't change them often either, many times with their fingers dipping in the water left in glasses as they grabbed them off the tables. So eat here at your own risk. read more

Was bummed when i heard Layang Layang closed... but eager to try Miàn. Dandan noodles is flavorful. The non spicy beef noodle is done right. The broth has lots of umami, the need spices are super tender. The pork XLB is absolute winner. I would choose over DinTaiFung. The lamb side dish is just spicy enough, great cumin taste. I'll still miss Layang Layang, but this place is a great addition to the Milpitas foodie landscape. Love it! read more

I ordered the spicy braised beef noodles and it was very flavorful. I wish they had other noodle options than rice noodles, but that's just me. I also got spicy level 2/3 and it was not spicy at all. We also got spicy wontons which came out almost instantly. It had a pretty good chili oil. The interior is pretty nice. I am pretty sure they used the previous store's furniture for some things. When we heard about a new Mian location in Fremont, we thought that'd be a great lunch spot to hit up. Busy plaza but we were able to secure a parking spot easily. We were seated immediately and ordering was easy enough with QR code. Staff were very friendly and service was fast and efficient. We were actually surprised how quickly the food came out. Everything we ordered was spot on. Beef noodles had excellent flavor with just the right amount of kick and noodes were silky smooth. Steamed egg was piping hot with every bite yummm. Soaked in the Sichuan vibes at the new Mian location in Milpitas (181 W Calaveras Blvd) and it's a total win! The beef noodles were incredible--the broth is super rich and that fried egg on top is a game changer--and the spicy wood ear mushrooms had the perfect crunch and kick. We ordered a ton of items and were surprised that it didn't take even ten minutes until dishes were landing at our table. The dishes each have a nice balance of protein and vegetables, and everyone enjoyed themselves. Our favorites were the penang curry, crab fried rice, and the garlic chicken!

Sorry guys--I only managed to snap a photo of an empty bowl, but that pretty much says it all! I'd been looking forward to trying this place all day, and it definitely did not disappoint. I'm so happy to have such an authentic Chinese noodle shop open nearby. I'll absolutely be back to try more dishes. The staff are friendly, and you can truly feel their passion for serving customers. They now offer six different flavors of buns complimentary for posting a review--which was perfect for me since I wanted to try every flavor. Such a thoughtful and generous gesture from the owner. "The steamed cabbage dumplings are soooo cute! Super juicy, fresh, and a little crunchy inside. Their XLB is also amazing--tons of soup, not oily, and the wrapper is super thin. Cold noodles are always a must-order. They even sell freshly handmade dumplings, and the shrimp, chive & pork filling is insanely good! read more

Excellent beef rib noodle soup! The ribs were tender, flavorful, and fall-off-the-bone. Rich broth, generous portions, and fresh vegetables. Definitely one of the better beef noodle soups I've had. Will be back! read more
