Being in Hollywood for most of my life, I've always enjoyed the ambience and the food at Miceli's. Unfortunately this was my last time there due to their poor un hygienic food practices which is seen through an open kitchen. I immediately alerted the manager on duty when I saw the cook eating in the kitchen, licking and sucking her fingers, then continuing to handle the food without any gloves or washing her hands. Aside from her the kitchen staff was also playing around while there are guests waiting to be served. Unfortunately I still ended up paying to my food. read more

5 Stars all the way! I've been coming here since the 1980s and I've always been impressed with the excellent food, service and ambience of this classic Italian Hollywood restaurant. A plus is having a live piano player during dinner. Everyone should experience this lovely restaurant. We hadn't been here in years so decided it was time. We stopped in for dinner and shared a Caesar salad. My wife and I shared Veal Milanese. It was very good. Our friend had the mosticiolli with meat balls. He liked it very much. Brody, our waiter was terrific. My only complaint is when they were clearing the tables near us, they made so much noise that it startled us as well as the party next to us. read more

We had been to Miceli's Studio City outpost and had a pleasant evening. With friends from out of town, we thought we'd try the original Hollywood location. Unfortunately the experience was kind of "meh." Aunt Angie's lasagna was good but one guest ordered fettuccini Alfredo and was served Carbonara (she just went with it) and the other said her veal was bland. And she was also served a glass of wine from a bottle that had clearly be open too long. Leftover lasagna was unceremoniously dumped into a to-go box and the only waiter singing that night stood by the piano and could barely be heard at the far end of the dining room. On the other hand, the hot rolls were delicious. Maybe the pizzas are better. read more

For a special family event, we decided to go to Miceli's for a nice Italian dinner. We heard it was one of the oldest restaurants in Los Angeles. We made reservations for a specific date and time. Prior to going, I called to find out if they had valet parking. The gentleman said no and then hung up on me. When we arrived, We found a nearby parking lot that actually gave a discount on parking if you showed them a validated parking ticket from Miceli's. When I had called the restaurant, they did not tell me this or offer the information. We arrived approximately 20 minutes early, and tried to check in. They told us to go outside and wait and not return until our time of reservation. So we waited outside. At our designated time, we entered the restaurant again and we're told to sit down and wait. After being shown our table, the service was OK, but at times very slow. The interior of the restaurant was nice but it seems like a place that was trying to keep its nostalgia and did not do a very good job of it. It just seemed worn out, and the staff did not seem genuine. And they messed up our order. It was very unfortunate that the food was just average, and the service did not represent an upscale restaurant. There are so many other restaurants to go to Los Angeles. This is one I would avoid. read more

Last night I had the worst service at Miceli's. I have been going to Miceli's for decades and have always had good food and good service. Everyone in the area got their food before we did. And we had bread, pizza, and simple vermicelli. We had to ask for the bread we ordered. The server never checked if we needed additional beverages. The server never mentioned why everything took so long. We think they lost our order. I asked for the Manager and a rude young women with a nose ring reluctantly came to the hostess stand and she proceeded to tell me we were there at their busy time and acted as if the poor service we received was somehow our problem. I will never go to the Hollywood Miceli's again! It must be under new ownership because those who I knew would never find this acceptable. read more

One word: Bummer. All I wanted to do for my birthday was to enjoy a Hollywood Celebrity Tour with my friends and grab a delicious bite to eat afterwards locally. After stepping off the bus, I selected Miceli's as our late lunch spot. Thankfully there was no wait despite us having a party of 7. However, the host sat us in a crowded spot before we asked to be moved to a better area with more privacy. (For this reason I gave them a second star because they were accommodating.) Even though they weren't busy, our table lacked attention. At one point, one of my guests asked if there were free refills because no one had come back to our table for about 15-20 minutes after taking our order. I ordered bruschetta as an appetizer for the table and it was dreadful. I am posting a picture of the absolutely burnt sliced baguettes. In fact, none of my guests indulged in it. I was too embarrassed to ask for a replacement in front of the group. The complimentary rolls were warm but lacked flavor and they didn't even provide enough for one per person at our table. I ordered the chicken fettuccini Alfredo and it was poor. The chicken was rubber, the sauce was not even creamy, and the pasta was undercooked. Others had similar experiences with their meals. The restaurant is dark and appears to need renovation in many areas. I am extremely embarrassed to have selected this spot and bummed that I wasted my birthday lunch here. This is our pre-theatre (Dolby) place to go. The waiters and waitresses all sing. The food is excellent. The ambiance is fabulous. True Italian and the portions are so large, my husband and I split a meal. Insider tip, they will give you bread on request. They used to give it regularly, but they threw so much away that it saved the waste. We usually ask for only one piece because portion is large and we don't like waste either. Prices are very reasonable. Just a great experience. read more

I have some friends visiting from the East Coast, and they asked for Italian food, and since I was already taking them on a tour around Hollywood, Miceli's was an easy choice. I love the ambiance, the service in my opinion is top notch, and the food is wonderful! As usual, I indulged in the baked ziti (cheesy and crunchy, just the way I like it), with meatballs, accompanied buy my typical old fashioned. We also had calamari and soaked up much of the deliciousness with their bread. This time we did not indulge in dessert, but anything you choose from the menu to end your meal is excellent. As old school as it gets. Dark woodsy red leather interiors, a little on the worn side, but that just honestly lends to its character as a Hollywood institution. The drinks were strong and well portioned, most come with a sidecar! Wine menu is limited but decently priced, not marked up 3 fold. The food is ok, nothing mind blowing, but let's face it, you're coming for the history and the ambiance. It's worth at least hitting up once! The night we were there the waiters were not singing but they did have a very lively and entertaining pianist. The only complaint is that it was quite warm inside to the point I was sitting there schvitzing, def need to work on the A/C situation. read more

This was part of our Disney Date Night package after El Capitan. From start to finish, the food and service was amazing. Our server Oliver was so attentive and kind throughout our meal. The rolls came out super warm and my favorite part was the eggplant parmesan. I love a good old school Italian joint and this really hit the spot. Arrive VERY early if you're planning to see a show at the Dolby Theater. We arrived at 6:30pm, and we were greeted and seated right away. The restaurant was about half full (important to note!). Several tables around us were finishing their meals. Cale, our waiter, greeted us within a few minutes and took our drink orders, which came out promptly. We ordered our entrees (no starters) around 6:40pm. Sadly, it took almost 45 minutes for our food to arrive at our table after we ordered it. The waiter never stopped by during that time to give us a status. I had to get up from the table after 40 minutes to ask him about our food and let him know that we were trying to get to a show at the Dolby. He said that "everyone" was trying to get to the same show. Meanwhile, we saw at least a couple tables arrive, eat and leave while we were waiting. The ambiance of the restaurant is very old school Italian-American, with lots of heavy, dark wood trim, stained glass art, and Chianti bottles hanging from the ceiling. There is a pianist playing live music and the waiters take turns singing. It's a fun atmosphere. But we were unable to enjoy our meals, as we became increasingly anxious about the time. The food was okay. I had the veal parmigiana, which was crispy, with LOTS of melted cheese on top. My partner had the Chicken Francaise, which he would not recommend - it was pieces of chicken with mushrooms and zucchini "sitting in lemon water," as he described it. The chicken was not pounded flat (as most Chicken Francaise recipes call for). And his side of spaghetti was cold when it arrived at our table. We've had much better Italian food at both high-end (Ospi, Rossoblu, Angelini) and large chain Italian restaurants (Maggiano's, Olive Garden). I would not recommend Miceli's Hollywood, unless you have plenty of time and just want to hang out and listen to music. read more

First, the one positive note. Our waiter was extremely friendly and helpful.However, this was undoubtedly the worst Italian meal of long life. The seats were old booths whose seat stuffing had completely collapsed, making them extremely uncomfortable. This was just the start. When the bread service arrived, I knew that we were in for a bad night. These were small, soft pre-frozen-style tiny oven dinner rolls. Not the crunchy Italian bread that I had expected. Then the antipasto.... Broken pieces of iceberg lettuce with a few Italian-like tidbits. The poorest example of an antipasto that I have ever experienced. We had their signature Lasagna... served cold and meager... completely lacking style and flavor. All dishes came too soon... shortly after the antipasto arrived which we were sharing. Then the Linguini Pescador: this was the greatest disappointment. The white wine sauce was tasteless... and you had to search for the "Pescador".... Chopped clams appearing straight from the can, a few of the smallest clams... the size of your thumb... the fish was nonexistent. Anyway, if you are looking for tourist trap, look no further. The food is OK not bad but also not memorable. The staff is not very customer friendly but adequate. Tried this Hollywood restaurant with friends after seeing a matineé at The Pantages. It was my first time and I WILL be back! I had the "Aunt Annie's Lasagna" which I loved. Their rolls are to die for! I enjoyed a Pink Squirrel cocktail for the first time in over 30 years! And the ambiance---there is a gentleman playing the Baby Grand piano --live. He played all the standards from the 1930's- to about the 70's The servers take turns singing along with the pianist. Everyone of them had stunning voices. I just added to the whole dining experience. The service was prompt and attentive. I'm so glad my friend suggested this restaurant. If you're attending a matineé, the restaurant is about a mile south of the Pantages theatre. Don't know if it's open for dinner if you're attending the later show. read more
