Location

So my option about this location ( spectacular, exceptional, outstanding and all out amazing ). We took a friend here for her birthday and our service and food was exceptional and beyond expectations. Our sever "Lady" took really good care of us along with server "Jackie and the G/M Joe". So the food OMG was amazing, starting with two delicious appetizers, we had conch and calamari. The calamari was mostly rings ( which most people like ) and the conch was prepared just right. I had the filet which was cut into a 10 ounce size, requested by me. It was prepared exactly the way I requested and the veggies and mashed potatoes was a nice complement to my meal. My wife had the key west snapper and she gave me a taste and it was exceptional, it also was prepared well and better than any other place I've tried it. The portion was a really generous size and my wife was very pleased with her meal. Our friend had the honey bourbon salmon and she said that it was the best salmon that she had. The ladies also had cocktails, my wife had a generous pour of the Chardonnay and our friend had the island margarita. And since it was our friends birthday and none of us are fond of restaurant deserts but Joe recommended the sticker toffee. When I say that we all fell in love with it and we all will get it every time we will visit. There were no complaints and everything was carefree. The old saying is you pay for what you get and here at Michael's Grill it is worth it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a great date night location and it it very quaint.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We drove a long way to come here and it was definitely worth it and we will again

Looking for a bite on my way home I found myself at Michael's. It's likely been 10 to 15 years since my last visit. In the plaza on N. Dale Mabry next to Black Rock, Michael's is a neighborhood favorite with good food, quick service, a pleasant and couteous staff and plenty of free parking. Obviously, convenience like that is an asset to any business. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have since added on another dining room and still boast a great outdoor covered dining area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The Bisque was off point today, lukewarm and with a lumpy spot of flour, just careless. The taste was good. I tried the Zuchini Sticks and they disappointed, again I think just careless or in a hurry. The potential was there but they were obviously stuck together in the fryer and pried loose and slightly over cooked. The Tower Roast Beef Sandwich was delightful. Everything about it was spot on. Pefect bread, warm, a bit crunchy but pliable, perfectly seasoned and cooked roast beef. The exact amount of Jus needed. Filled me up nicely. Today's mis-haps felt unusual, in the past I remember flawless performances so I do not know how frequent that is now. Memories I have include awesome sandwiches, great pasta, excellent seafood and a mouth-watering mushroom risotto. My visits stopped when the Wine shop I frequented next door changed a long time ago. There are new owners, they are always closed when I come by and I do not know if they still have an arrangement with Michael's. I used to buy a bottle at the shop and drink it with my meal. The food here is good and definitely worth a try. Come get ya some.

We went here for the first time this weekend. It was amazing. The server was very attentive and friendly. The food was INCREDIBLE. We had the pasta and salmon with rice. I also tried the chocolate pie which was the most delicious I've ever had. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also the music was great and the place was nice and clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Would definitely return.

I was pleasantly surprised. I've lived in this area about 7 years now and have always drove past Michael's grill but never tried it until yesterday. It's a hidden gem that people need to know about. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It has that mom and pop neighborhood feel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a smaller inside but has ample seating outside too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff were very friendly and attentive. The menu is a decent size and they have a lot of offerings. We came here for a special occasion and I love the personalized touch. I would recommend making a reservation btw! I started off with the sangria and it was a nice size. The flavor was delicious and it hit the spot. For dinner I got the Tuscan salmon over goat cheese Mac and cheese. Everything was delicious! I saw they have brunch on the weekends so I will be back to try that.

We had an absolutely fabulous meal here tonight! Stumbled upon this place before our comedy show and we were pleasantly surprised of what a beautiful fancy delicious restaurant it was! The flavors were incredible! Incredible! The service was top-notch, friendly and sweet! The owner was out talking and welcoming his guests, which was a very nice thing to see! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was busy![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We will definitely be back!

I always forget this place is here. It's been around for decades. Went in for lunch date after a massage and we were pleasantly surprised. It's set up like a cute cafe. Some seats outside and inside. We picked a table next to the kitchen and I ordered an Andrea bubbly cocktail. I love a good crab bisque. I will be dreaming of this and ordering it often. It was a delicious soup chock full of crab. The conch fritters are jam packed with conch so those are well worth it. The chicken mushroom pasta was perfect to share and the chicken was super tender.

We arrived on a Saturday night without a reservation, but we were promptly seated. It was our first visit, despite frequently passing by this place, so we decided to give it a try. My husband had seen an Instagram post calling it one of Carrollwood's hidden gems, which motivated us to explore it at last. Let me start by saying I'm currently obsessed with baked / melted brie. I was intrigued by the fried version and let me tell you. It. Did. Not. Disappoint. And the mix with the strawberry salad? Absolutely delicious. I would go back and get 3 orders of this. Eat it while it's fresh on the table. We both ordered steak and we were both very happy with our dishes. My husband would have licked his plate if I let him. Lastly, not pictured, vanilla crème brûlée. It was perfectly baked and brûléed. Our waitress, (kanut?), came through with the last one so we almost missed out! Speaking of, her service was amazing. We will definitely be back.

Ask the Community - Michael's Grill

Are kids welcome? Would there be any mac n cheese?

Michael's Grill is not my first choice for kids. No Mac and Cheese. It's fine dining. Hope that helps. Leave the kids with a sitter and treat yourself to a great meal!

Will they ever bring back the Chicken Little Pasta? It was my absolute favorite thing on the menu

Just ask we can make it

So many nautical nods in the decor-rustic coastal-in sort of an 80s/90s way (love). You can almost taste salt in the air-you expect the Gorton's fisherman to walk in. Yes, I could settle in here for a while. And I did. There are chalkboard drink choices on the walls-and a large menu. Happy hour and daily specials add to the options. I asked my friendly and helpful server to help me choose. She was spot on. The onion rings basket was a thing of true beauty. That batter is incredible-so light, so melts-in-mouth good. I'd go back for them alone. (and to try the hush puppies and fried green tomatoes) But then came the main event: a gorgeous piece of fried haddock that hung wayyyy off the bun on both sides-and loads of tasty fries. I swapped out coleslaw for green beans. What a feast! This is a lot of food! And every bit of it was really tasty. The haddock was huge-and so well cooked. It was tender-flaky-with another light batter, that complimented the fish perfectly. I ditched the bun and ate it with a knife and fork. It was just yummy. The fries had a good crunch to them and the bowl of green beans was deep. This is a massive value for money! Oh! And the margarita was good, too! A little tangy-I like that! (There's a full bar area, if you care to belly up) My sweet server was easy to talk to and super efficient. She knows the menu inside and out-and reads her customers well and early. The restaurant was cozy and comfy-it's a casual spot, but well tended and very clean. You really do forget that the busy world is right outside the door. There's tons of parking, but beware on super rainy days-there are low spots in that lot. The water came up fast while I was there and another server warned us to check our vehicles and move them, if needed. I decided to make a dash for it-so didn't get all the pics I wanted-but that's just another reason (along with the scrod and the mahi taco, etc etc) to go back. The Great Catch is a great choice. You can trust the Gorton's fisherman!

You are looking at spending at least $98 for a family of 2 adults and 2 kids, no matter which restaurant you go to - it seems like the market does a good job at leveling the pricing competition between these restaurants. Crafty Crab is located essentially smack-dab in the center of Grand Plaza of the Carrollwood area. Although we didn't have issues with finding parking around 6-7pm on a Tuesday evening, the plaza can get quite busy with one row of parking on each side of a two-way lane that parallels the plaza. As we walked into Crafty Crab, it did have a cleaner feel and presentation compared to another local boil spot. Our waiter/server was great and extremely patient with us as we contemplated our choices. He continued with the positive energy throughout the service which made our experience at Crafty Crab rather nice. ***Not sure if it was standard practice, but he offered to empty the boil bag onto the aluminum tray (compared to leaving it in the bag) as an option which made navigating the morsels easier in my opinion. It also made for saucing the steam rice easier - just slap that jawn onto the tray, mix, and enjoy.*** What I enjoyed about Crafty Crab, is that they seem to offer better combinations when it came to the seafood deals. Dungeness crab is our staple, and they had a great combo that pair Dungeness crab with snow crab and headless shrimp. The fried calamari came with not only marinara, but also a spicy-mayo-wasabi sauce that slapped. Overall, you can't go wrong with Crafty Crab if you're looking for your Cajun boil fix!
