We ordered to go from here and were super pleased with the food! I got the shrimp pasta which was delicious and creamy (as advertised). It came with easily 3 servings of pasta and lots of shrimp. The fried Brie with strawberry sauce was one of the best things I've had in a while- I'd go back just for that! The staff was super friendly and everything was clean and packaged well! read more

We must've been there on a bad night. Our wait staff seemed confused. When the food was served two of the steaks were cold and tuff. The mashed potatoes were completely forgotten. The filet mignon was literally 1" x 1" in size and served in the middle of a full size dinner plate. I really like to support neighborhood restaurants and a friend suggested we try this one out. Overall it is expensive for what you get from a quality standpoint. So I love the atmosphere although a bit small and too close to other tables, nice lighting, wonderful service the food was well prepared and delicious but here is the problem. I get a piece of grouper smaller than the palm of my hand, 3/4 of one shrimp and the lower part of a crab claw thumb on top for $50 ? There has to be more value in a meal for it to be complete and satisfying. The food and overall experience was good but something I venture won't happen but once in every third blue moon .UPDATE: the owner contacted me and offered to make this experience right. My favorite breakfast place in Tampa, i have a gluten allergy and they have gluten free bread! I ordered a cheddar cheese omelette with gluten free bread and fruits, it was perfect! I've been to Michael's a couple of times over the years and previously it was a solid 5 stars for service and food. Perhaps it's me because I've been to many more "nice" restaurants over the years, but this last experience a week ago was just sort of- ok not an elevated dining experience I'd expect for the price point. To begin we had a LOVELY young woman serving us. I can't think of her name but it was her birthday and we were so delighted by her throughout the dinner. 5 stars for service! Our waters and cocktails were replenished regularly and she checked on us multiple times throughout our meal. In regard to the food (and the menu in general) the menu hasn't changed much in many years. maybe their regulars demand those old standards but I think to attract new customers its time to do a refresh on the menu. I'd appreciate more variety in the options. The specials DID sound very good - though none of us chose us those. They were creative sounding - Cherry Duck breast entree and a Grouper dish with a Peachy sauce sounded awesome. Our group of 4 ordered a chicken dish, the blackened salmon on Caesar salad, Shrimp with Linguini and I had the Bolognese (also requested on linguini). Two of us ordered salads - they were just, okay. Nice portions but nothing to write home about. Half of out party really enjoyed their entrees. The other half (the pasta eaters) we're not as excited about our selections. My friend didn't care much for the shrimp linguini. My Bolognese was underwhelming. The linguine was way over cooked and the sauce was overwhelming the pasta. Could definitely see and taste the different meats in the sauce, but there was too much of it. It wasn't bad It was just kind of meh. For food I am giving them 3 stars because the portion size was plentiful but no one in our party was really blown away by their food. The cocktails were very nice - we drank martinis and wine. I probably won't be back anytime soon unless they revamp their menu. They are always busy so I know that their clientele probably enjoys the menu and the reliability of the service. I just appreciate a little variety and creativity when I'm dining out so I will continue to look for Different options in the north Tampa area. read more

Decided to order pick up from Michael's Grill tonight as we were unable to keep our plans to eat at the restaurant. We have eaten here many times but never ordered carry out. Everyone is so nice, from Andrea taking my phone order, the servers and the chefs letting me know they were just finishing up the order. They confirmed the order was packaged correctly and contained all items before handing it over. Steak Au Poivre and Steak Frite special were cooked to perfection. So first the bread with a delicious compound butter, then conch fitters that are perfect, a wonderful crab bisque, I got the duck with was cooked perfect and Jen got the risotto which I almost got stab when my fingers got a little too close. First . I asked for a sweet Manhattan. I received an Old Fashioned in a martini glass. So I asked for an Old Fashioned. Came in a rock glass. Ok. It's Florida I'm still trying to used to Manhattans come in martini glasses. Not just here every where in Tampa. The food took a while to come out which is understandable they were short staffed. It seemed like there was only one waitress? I'm not sure what the other people standing around the reservation podium were doing. Second. Pasta and shrimp were definitely dried after sitting under a warmer too long. Third. Filet mignon came with a side of Hair! Not just a small piece ! Like shoulder length . Stuff happens. I understand! And I understand they don't need our business. They were very busy! But common decency should propel staff to at the very least APOLOGIZE! Nothing. Maybe it's just a Chicago thing to have a manger or the chef come over and apologize and probably comp the bill. Instead my friend was offered another steak that was going to "take 4 minutes" (magic?) well it took at least 20. When it came it was half the size of the original steak. Again a simple apology would have gone a long way. I left feeling not full but definitely nauseous. read more

Love this place, and I always have!!! For the longest time, I always got the eggs Benedict because they're the best in town. Glad I finally expanded my selection... Because every seafood meal is stellar. The shrimp and grits are a go-to favorite, but check the board for seasonal specials and other goodies, like salmon omelettes and (OH YEAH) sea bass tacos with the best guac I've ever tasted. We were looking for a new place to try for our date night last night. We decided to try Michaels because it was close to home with very high reviews. The items on the menu sounded delicious so we ordered the wasabi crusted tuna and the salmon Rockefeller. The wasabi tuna arrived and the first thing we noticed was that they use imitation wasabi on a $40 dish. The tuna was almost completely cooked through and the taste was just average. It was kind of sad because this was a $40 dish! The Salmon Rockafeller was just bizarre and the flavors did not meld well. Our server seemed clueless and clearly did not know the menu well. We asked a couple of simple questions about one of the dishes and he literally had no idea. He asked us if we wanted to hear the specials and then proceeded to read them from the board while facing away from us. I mean we could have read the specials board ourselves. The bubble bread was okay. Based on the name it seemed like it would have been interesting in itself but in reality it's more like a cheesy breadstick Another weird thing is that they don't even have a salad entree in the menu. I loved this place the minute I walked in. Upscale food in a casual environment! The service was spot on; attentive but not overwhelming. We ordered three apps; snails, crabcakes, and baked brie. So, in my imagination, the word "unctuous" has been waiting for a plate like their fried brie to find its true meaning. This stuff is so good, and the sauce is a great foil for the richness of the cheese. The menu is inventive, but not pretentious, and the pork I ordered for my main had an amazing sauce. Came here mid-week with friends who live nearby and highly recommended it. I knew we were in for a hefty bill when I saw the $300k McLaren parked outside and there were only a few inside tables taken. But not to worry, let's see what they have. We were quickly greeted and given our choice of inside or outside seating. With the nice weather, we opted for the patio, and ended up having it all to ourselves. There were plenty of propane heaters ready to combat the night chill, but we didn't need any that night. The menu is definitely fine dining, and along with the daily specials, there is something for everybody. Wife and I split a bowl of their signature She Crab Bisque - velvety textured, with a beautiful taste, and not to be missed. For my main course I went with the Honey Bourbon Salmon, served over roasted corn risotto. The flavors combined perfectly, and the portion size was enough for a to-go box. Wife selected the Gulf Shrimp Pesto Pasta - again a very tasty dish of ample portion size. Throw in $14/glass for wine, and similarly priced cocktails, and the bill for 2 was $120 + tip. Not a place I would frequent, but if you want something special in fine dining, this is for you. And props to Peter for excellent wait service. read more

For $85 this was really a terrible experience. Out of the 4 dishes we ordered, 3 were wrong. And not just a little wrong, completely wrong. My mother in law is allergic to eggs. She ordered the burger and asked them to leave off the egg because she's extremely allergic. We said it 2x. Her burger came out with a fried egg on it. She said she wanted it well done, it was medium rare. I ordered the St. Bart's POACHED eggs. It came out with SCRAMBLED eggs on top. My daughter ordered the kids meal with pancakes and scrambled eggs. This meal came with a drink. She got French toast and NO egg. AND the server charged us an extra $3.50 for her orange juice!!! That's just the issues with the ordering. There was no manager apology, and the waitress said she normally works the night shift which is why she got everything wrong. Ok so let's talk about the food. The poached egg was barely cooked- the yellow is supposed to be soft and runny, but the whites are supposed to be cooked. Instead I was eating a cold runny egg, and I could even send it back because my husband was already done eating since his order was the only one they did right. The croissant was soaked completely through so it was a mess. The hash browns were cold, so clearly they just used my original plate. My biscuit was heavy and floury. Yuck. My daughter said IHOPs pancakes tasted better. And I have to agree. These pancakes were not fluffy at all. They tasted like they were made with wheat flour. And the scrambled egg looked like it was made with powdered egg. The dad's steak special tasted good but it was a total rip off at $24. The steak portion was tiny. For that price, we would rather go to Ruth Chris and get a real steak. Overall, it was a very disappointing Father's Day brunch. read more

Ok, so I found this place using Yelp. I was in town on business and my hotel was only a couple of miles away. After reading the excellent reviews, I decided to give it a try by myself. Here are my thoughts..... Service - Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. I was greeted by the host and seated immediately. My waitress was on top of things and the food came out on time an fresh. Food - I had the Tomato & Feta Bruschetta w/Baked Tortilla for an appetizer....it was awesome! I highly recommend it. The bread was fresh and delicious. For an entree, I had the cheeseburger....I would have tried something else, but I really wanted to try the bruschetta appetizer and I didn't think I could eat that and an entree by myself. The burger was excellent....just the right size, not too large and not too small. The fries were steak-cut fries and cooked perfectly....not too hard/soft. Atmosphere - I was here in the Spring time and the weather was awesome....so I ate outside on the patio. I'm glad I did....it was very relaxing. Wine - The wine selection was decent....not great, but decent. I had a glass of the Malbec....don't remember what the vineyard was though. While I was dining....there were no more than 5 tables occupied in the joint. I heard that lunch and brunch are much busier. So, I guess if you want to enjoy the place and have a nice, relaxing time.....go at dinner. Will I return? If I'm in the area.....For Sure! read more

Really had forgotten this little hidden gen and recently returned to meet some friends. I immediately remembered why I liked this place so much. Besides being warm & inviting it is not overbearing.The casual ambiance, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered the she crab bisque and strawberry fields salad. The soup has a real depth of flavor and is full of crab. The salad is a beautiful mix of greens with strawberries in a balsamic tart, yet well rounded dressing. My husband and I went to brunch here recently and we really enjoyed the atmosphere and our food. Service: 4/5 our server was very kind and personable and our food came out hot. However, it took awhile for our drinks to be refilled and to receive our check when we were done eating. The restaurant was almost empty so it was surprising that it took awhile for these things. Overall, it was a great experience though! Food: My husband ordered the filet hash and I had the eggs Benedict. He devoured his hash and absolutely loved it! His eggs were a little overdone for being poached, but the meat and potatoes were seasoned and cooked well and he really enjoyed the meal. My eggs benedict was also pretty good.. the eggs were poached perfectly, the Canadian bacon was delicious, and the English muffin was perfectly toasted. However, the hollandaise was very lemony which took away from the deliciousness of the perfectly cooked Benedict and my potatoes were very over seasoned compared to my husbands. Although I wasn't very fond of the hollandaise and my potatoes were a bit overseasoned, the meal as a whole was still good and we enjoyed our experience. We will definitely be back! read more

The strawberry and balsamic added to it were very unique to this roll. It had an excellent taste. The tuna roll was very fresh and tasty. The lobster roll was solid!
