Mickey's has been in business for over 50 years and there's good reason for that. I am not sure if I can find anything not to like here. They have plebtt of varied seating in a casual, and comfortable environment. They also have a big parking lot, and large variety of food from Italian classics to Mexican dishes, and of course steaks!! We recently came for lunch and had such a great experience. Antanette was the best server we have had in a while and the manager stopped by to check on us too. They have a marinated top sirloin which is a must. The marinade is different every day and usually only available after 4pm. However, you may get lucky if you are there for lunch so definitely inquire. The marinade the day I was there was Hawaiian, which was pineapple, soy sauce, ginger, and garlic. Delicious flavor that was just the right touch. I got the Mac and cheese for my side which was perfectly portioned and creamy. It also came with soup or salad. I got salad which came in a chilled bowl and was really fresh. My hubby got the lunch steak which was really great also and the seasoned steak fries. The cocktails here are reasonably priced too. I got an apple Manhattan for $8.50 and it was delightful. We will definitely be returning to try more of the menu. Maybe we will even check out the bocce court next time. read more

I've been driving by this place for years, always meaning to stop in and eat but never having the chance... and that all changed yesterday. I stopped by last night and the interior is everything I thought and hoped it would be from the outside. A wonderful throwback to an earlier era, I'm sure some would call it old but I consider it to be classic and wonderful. I was quickly and genially seated, and I decided to order a Chicken Fried Steak. I asked my server, Fern, about it, as at too many restaurants today it's more breading than steak, and I hate that, but she said their breading was pretty thin, so I decided to go for it. She asked my choice of soup or salad, and I selected the chicken wild rice soup. It arrived promptly and I thought it was wonderful. Sometimes the wild rice in such soups can be very tough and off-putting, but there was no such issue here. Then seemingly just a few minutes later the entree arrived - what exceptional service! As hoped, the breading was just right, and the flavor of the Chicken Fried Steak was exactly what I was hoping for from a restaurant that has been around as long as Mickey's has been. The gravy was, perhaps, just a bit salty, but there is such a wide variety in recipes that it's hard to fault any of them as wrong, and it was not "too salty" or off-putting. I quickly finished my dinner - the mashed potatoes were also excellent - and was asked if I wanted dessert, but I was stuffed. All in all it was an exceptional experience. Incredible atmosphere, exactly what I wanted from an old-school restaurant like this, great food and exceptional service. If you're looking for some gastropub experience where they bring you a quarter-sized dish on fine china, Mickey's isn't for you. But if you're looking for hearty, good food that will fill you up from friendly people, by all means visit them and keep them going. read more

The 3 waitresses worked really well together in the bar and we had a constant buzz of food and drinks. I came for lunch today. Let me start with the end - the bill. I ordered the deep fried mushrooms as an appetizer - listed as $8.49 on their menu, but when the check arrived it was $10. Since I no longer had the menu I was surprised but did not dispute it. (I just checked their menu on this site - Yelp - and it also lists the $8.49 price) The server upsold me on this item! Now for the lunch - I waited ~25mins for my food even though they had just a few other tables with customers. After awhile, the server came over to explain: 'Your ticket didn't print out in the kitchen.' As for my entree - the 'Mesquite steak' was cooked as I ordered - medium rare. The server even had me cut into it to confirm. However, the sides were disappointing. The so-called 'side salad' with ranch was just iceberg lettuce pieces with a goop of dressing on top. No cucumber, tomato, onions, etc. I also selected the spaghetti as a side The noodles were over-cooked, certainly not al-dente. The sauce tasted like it came from a jar. So, if you want to wait a long time for your food and then get ripped-off on your bill, eat here. My $29 lunch (including the $10 deep fried mushrooms) was very disappointing. read more

My family from Denver took me out to Mickey's top sirloin for lunch right before I had to go back to New York. They wanted to take me to a restaurant with a new concept and to Mickeys we went. It's nice to see a no frills restaurant that has so much history in it, 50 years of history in fact. It's always nice to see restaurants that survive the test of time along with the rising cost of rent. A Steak dinner is always known to be fancy, prim and proper but Mickey's approach to steak is casual enough for both a casual dinner or a mid day lunch if one wanted to. At Mickey's I ordered the strip steak lunch (medium) with a baked potato and a salad as my starter. I thoroughly enjoyed the steak. There wasn't too much fat on the strip which was great. There was was just enough fat to keep the steak moist and delicious. The baked potato had coarse kosher salt already on the potato skin which I thought was genius! I no longer have to pour salt on my baked potato since it's already somewhat infused on the crust of the potato. AMAZING IDEA! The menu is a bit confusing considering the restaurant is called 'TOP SIRLOIN'. There was a section for Italian food as well as Tex-Mex inspired dishes. I feel that they did this to cater to every clientele that eats here and also because the original owners were italian however given the name of ' Mickey's Top Sirloin' I feel that they can get rid of one cuisine and just have two in the store and still be very successful. We ordered takeout from Mickeys late last night. I ordered the surf and turf with mushrooms and a salad. The surf and turf was steak, shrimp, rice pilaf, and veggies. Everything tasted great! The rice pilaf was well seasoned and buttered. The veggies were fresh and steamed well. The shrimp were a good size and so was the steak. The portions are big and can easily last 2 meals. I'm glad that I found this place, and it's soo close to where I live too. We'll definitely be back soon for more! read more

Stopped in here one day on the north side of Denver and it was just way below in food quality and maybe it was due that they just opened at 11am. I ordered the smothered burrito and the outside appearance didn't look to bad it was the inside that wasn't a hit as the meat was dried out and I couldn't tell what the meat was (ground beef/ chop meat ect) I would have to say it was the worst excuse for a smothered burrito given that this place had great reviews.I often think when it's a establishment like this place Bar on other side are the people drunk when they put reviews in ? Who knows but the burrito was really bad in all aspects of food! If I return I will definitely try something else! read more
