For those who think the masters of motors are employees at Midas, for probably pretty weak wages, are going to be the free and easy fix to your problems, sorry, but this is reality... The reality is, I needed help, had a basic idea of what was wrong, then these guys pointed out the actual issue... My tire was split, and bubbled. The charged me NOTHING to show me what was going on. Then proceeded to tell me the best tire shops to check out, as their tire machine was down. I'll take honesty over perfection any day. That's why I'll recognize this place, and their employees! Have been waiting to hear back from this location about my refund they are supposed to issue .. didn't hear back in over a month, call the customer service line to file ANOTHER complaint. someone tells me that someone in the auto shop , has been making updates on the account saying they have send out emails and have called me, total lie.. why would i be callin if i heard back?? yeah seriously the most unprofessional place I have ever did business with. was told to give them 24 hours to respond to me.. that was last week. will reach out AGAIN. Came here today to get an oil change and it was fantastic. The guy at the front (I wish I could remember his name) was super sweet and personable. He got me quoted right away and they got started on my car. To show you how nice this guy was an elder couple came in and he went above on beyond to take care of this couple who just wanted to get a quick glance at their car (I believe just a light was on and they didn't know what it was). Went in and set appointment for oil change 10/28/22 and showed Groupon and was told it would be done for Groupon price $49.59. Dropped off girlfriends vehicle and asked if it would take longer than hour to be complete and was told no, only to return being notified the oil change hadn't been completed yet. After returning the second time to pick-up car sent girlfriend in to pay only to get sticker shock when she came out finding out she was charged double the price for the oil change. I was still at the location in 2nd vehicle and went in to inquire as to what happened. Talking to the same gentleman, who identified himself as Gabriel Warren the store manager, he claimed he remembered our conversation on price 1 day prior but didn't recall it on pickup when my girlfriend went in to pick it up. He said since she already paid he couldn't reverse the error and there was nothing he could do. He further went on to say he could take care of us next time. Next time? I explained to him there'd be no next time, he'd get bad reviews, and there would be a BBB claim filed. To which he exclaimed he'd be the 1 receiving them on the back end and that was fine and that he could take care of us next time. I visited this location after being rudely yelled and turned away within the last year. However I had received a paper coupon specifically for this location and thought "ehh what's the worst that could happen I'm just getting an oil change. I went and was pleasantly surprised by the employee working the desk/front area. She was a kind, patient and personable. That is where the star is earned for her alone. I got my oil change they then told me a long list of problems with my car but said it'll be fine to take a 4 hour drive as I am moving. I left and called my regular mechanic on his next day his shop was open as it was closed on the weekend. I scheduled an appointment for him to inspect my car and before I even made it in my check engine light came on. So I was thinking "awesome they were right." Well no my regular mechanic inspected my car and found they didn't tighten things enough and didn't put the dipstick in far enough/correctly which was triggering sensors. He then only found one of the problems Midas had found and said everything else looks like what a daily driver car that's a 2014 should look like wear and tear wise. It doesn't need all this money put into it. Also this problem found was emergent as it was a belt and something that needed to be fixed before any long drive. My mechanic stated to continue routine maintenance and inspect now and then to monitor it as it's a 2014. So all this to say that it appears this shop is was purposefully looking for a way to make more money through lies and faked incompetence. read more

I replaced my front Brakes with Midas 2 years ago, so I took it back in and they said to fix it was over $300. They said the Midas warranty is only good for 90 days compared to other brake shops which are 12 months or 12,000 miles. I was under the impression that it was a free brake inspection, but they charged me for the inspection. When I said that I was not going to get the service in done in retaliation Midas put on the work order that they may report me to the DMV for driving an unsafe vehicle. Let me just start by saying that I despise mechanics. Being a woman, mechanics have tried to get money out of me for unneccessary repairs more than a few times in my lifetime. However, this was not the case today. Joey took great care of me and my car. I showed up for my 11 am appointment and they took my car right back. Joey showed me my carfax report and even pulled up the Toyota manual to review the services needed per the mileage on my vehicle. Some of the servicing that I thought were needed actually were not (saving me more money than I had planned.) This place is criminal. They lie and take advantage of their customers who might not know much about cars, ESPECIALLY WOMEN. If you are a female do not come here. They will degrade and stereotype. They fixed and replaced something in my car, while breaking another part. I brought it back in for warranty repair and they made up a false story as to why it broke and now I owe $1000. I have two mechanics in my family in other states and they confirmed they made up the scenario just to cover themselves because they fixed my car with lack of care and faultiness. I brought in my car for a brake replacement for a BMW (rotors and pads). I was verbally quoted $550-600 per axel to complete the repairs. I dropped off the car and later received a call recommending I replace the suspension system on all wheels. I asked they send an itemized invoice for the suggested repairs. After I received the itemized invoice, I authorize the shop to make the repairs relating to the brake line items only. They completed the repairs and then provided a new bill for me to pay that was much higher than the quote I received previously. Everything from the itemized parts to the labor costs were significantly higher than the invoice I received previously. The total cost demanded I pay was $1,500, not the $1,200 I had agreed to per the invoice I already received. I showed the shop the invoice I had agreed to pay relating to the brakes and the shop did not agree to honor the invoice. They said the prices previously shown were only relevant if I paid for all the other recommended (but not requested) repairs. The Midas employee I was working with created a very awkward scene demanding I pay the increased amount and that I had agreed to pay the larger invoice that I had not previously seen. Not only was the handling of the discrepancy unprofessional, but based on the itemized invoice that was not honored, it seems the shop is following deceptive tactics. I plan on disputing the charges and filing a claim with BBB. I do not recommend working with this Midas location. read more

I was avid client at this Midas, after I got my quote-they changed it on me. They said, "oh I was thinking of something else!" They over charged me over$200 and I would never think they would do that, but they did. They have lost me as a client and my wife's car too. I found a better place and they would charge me $157 for job, instead of $402. My original quote was $265. If your that spacey about quotes, you better stop running a business. I went in for a Groupon oil change and they told me about 3 hours! Then they told me I needed new brakes, a new suspension, etc... Grand total about $1200. Brought my car into Midas for a front brake job. The estimate I was given was $150-$200. Austin the manager called me to let me know the front brakes were fine but the rears needed to be replaced. Not a big deal but I was then told that the job was going to be $500! The explanation given was because of the type of rotor and material they were made of that the rotors could not be turned or machined at all, they could only be replaced. I don't have much mechanical experience but I know that isn't true, as long there is enough material left on the rotor most can be turned. I called two dealerships that confirmed the rotors, front and rear, are able to be turned on my vehicle. Paid Midas the $20 diagnostic fee to get my car back and brought it to the dealership. The dealership promptly replaced my rear brakes and turned the rotors for $265, a little over half of what Midas was trying to charge me. They even gave me a lifetime warranty on the pads to boot. Worth $20 to find out this shop and employees are not to be trusted. Save yourself the time and hassle, skip Midas entirely and go somewhere else. read more

I came in because my air conditioner stopped working on my Jeep. I dropped it off right when they opened. Austin communicated well and kept me updated through the process. He even called my warranty company for me to check that it was covered. My car was ready the next day because they had to order the ac kit. One of the belts snapped off right after I left (kind of just chalked it up to "shit happens" and maybe a faulty belt) but the fact that they came to rescue me where my car stopped working because of the belt meant a lot. They got me back to the shop, replaced the belt and I was back out on the road in 30 min. Works great. No issues. All the employees there were really nice and helpful. read more

I've given Midas 1-star because there is nothing lower. This was the most pleasant and friendly treatment I've ever received while being lied to and screwed. I brought my vehicle in to this West Charleston Midas to get the rear brakes repaired. I showed an online deal that Austin, the manager, said he would honor but I shouldn't purchase online; he'd just charge that amount. Plus, there was an extra Father's day discount of an additional 20% off on the online site that Austin said he'd honor. He said they would put the car up and provide a FREE brake inspection first. He'd call me. When Austin called he informed me that the cost of the repair would be $450. This is more than $220 more than the online deal he said he'd honor; this is not even counting the additional 20% Father's Day Discount on the online deal. I said that was too much, what happened to the online deal, and I'm coming to pick up my vehicle. He said to hold on and let him call his regional manager to see what they could do for me. About a half hour later he said they would do the repair for $379. I again brought up the fact that the deal he said he was going to honor was still $100 less than the price he was quoting me, and this was still before the additional 20% Father's Day Discount. Nevermind, clearly he wasn't going to honor the price he originally said he would and he most certainly wasn't going to give me the additional 20% off that was advertised on the site. I went back to pick up my vehicle and they charged me $20 for the FREE brake inspection. At least Austin was very friendly and polite as he lied to me. Worth a smile he told me I could bring it back when I was ready. I said I would not be bringing it back. "Why not?," he inquired. I told him it was because I don't appreciate being lied to and having Midas waste my time. AND I don't appreciate the bait and switch. AND I don't appreciate being charged for something I didn't ask for but was told was free anyway. He even had me sign a paper that showed it was $0.00 for the inspection charge before I left the first time. He acted as if this was something that he hears all the time. It didn't phase him one bit. From his reaction, though with a friendly smile, it seemed like this was standard practice. Needless to say, I WILL NOT be going back to Midas for my vehicle, my wife's vehicle, or our daughters'vehicles, and I'll be recommending to all friends and family to avoid Midas for anything. I would rate them a negative star if I could. They ripped me off and fixed something on my car that wasn't even broken. They charged me over $500 to fix something that didn't need to be fixed. Then when my probably wasn't fixed I went back to them, they found another issue and tried to charge me full price to fix the thing that was actually broken on my car! I had to fight them for a silly 20% discount! That's it...only 20%. Then after they fixed my car another issue started and I had to go back and have my car repaired again! Another inconvenience!! I usually go to Sears Auto shop for oil change but they filed for bankruptcy and closed their store last November 2018 and I was due for one. I was trying to look for a placewhere I could do it that and this place came up. I tried to take my car today and spoke to Austin that I needed oil change and if they can check my battery. I wasn't having any problems whatsoever before coming here. I wanted them to do just a regular check up. And also, my brake lights on the driver side was out. I left my car with them and went to do some errands and after 2 hours they called me and told me that my battery was okay but there was something wrong with the power steering hose and it needs to be replaced. I was skeptical doing it but he sounded so sure that I said my okay to just do it. I don't use this car a lot since I have an SUV and I didn't notice any leak in my garage for the past week. So I agreed and told them to do it. I dropped off my car around 7:30am. I got the first call where he told me everything was okay except for the leak in the power steering hose. He said it should be done in the next 3 hours. 3-4 hours gone by and no call. I called around 3pm and spoke to Austin again and he said that it should be done in an hour and he said my battery's dead this time. I told him that he told me my battery was okay earlier, he said that he was wrong. So he said that he's going to replace it and I just said okay since I know my battery was 3.5 years old. I told him that I will be there to pick it up at 6:30pm because I have to be somewere else. When I went there to pick up my car, they were still working on it. I was so bummed out because the mechanic who was there told me Austin is out to buy some coolant because they ran out. I couldn't wait any longer because I have to be in the airport to pick up my family. He called me and wanted me to pay so they can release my car and wanted me to pull over. I pulled over and gave him my information. I paid over $700 for the "service" that they said they did today. After going to the airport, I went there to pick up my car around 9pm. Lo and Behold! (See video I posted on their page) My car was making some loud noises when I try to turn my steering wheel. I can't call them because they were already closed and they're close on Sundays. They don't have any email address as an additional info also. I left my car outside their shop because there's no way I can drive it under the noise condition. I went there to do an oil change thinking that was the only thing I needed. I paid hundreds of dollars because they convince me to it. I never had any issue with this car and never made any noises and my steering wheel was fine. Now, I can't do anything and I'm just going to have to wait for them on Monday to ask them what's going on. I'm so upset. I don't even know if someone will tow my car since it's parked outside a chinese restaurant right in front of their shop. It's nuts! I never do any reviews here and this is my first. I'm hoping this will be addressed by the owner or manager ASAP. read more

If you're looking for a reputable place for your car, these dudes are LEGIT! What an honest group. My car told me I needed my brakes replaced, so I made an appointment. I was expecting to pay $503 (yes I nearly threw up in my mouth), BUT I got a call telling me I don't need brakes, roters, or sensors replaced, and that they were in fact practically new! Turns out it's a simple reset computer fix. The moral of the story here is that they could have taken my money, and I would have been none the wiser. But, they're clearly not about that. This was absolutely the worst place I've ever gone for an oil change. They attempted to overcharge me for a basic oil change and did not honor the midas ad. I waited an entire hour and a half for a BASIC OIL CHANGE. Keep in mind I had an appointment and was the only person waiting in the waiting room. To make matters worth, they tried to sell me over $500 worth of services that my car doesn't even need. Lastly, they didn't put a sticker in the window for my next oil change. Isn't that standard? Scheduled an oil change for my wife at this location. Folks there were nice, but they either didn't put the right amount of oil in the car or put the wrong type in. We figured this out because 3 weeks later our Engine Oil Pressure light came on and my wife's car locked up and she had to coast to the side of the road. We had the car towed to a mechanic, not knowing what the issue was at the time. He told us that there was no oil in the car! I asked him if there was a leak and he said no there wasn't. So, long story short, Midas did not put the right oil or amount of oil in, and put my wife in an incredibly dangerous situation. We were going to let us go until Midas asked us for a review and we let them know. We got a call from Midas asking us what happened. I have no reason to lie and let them know....but then they wanted to argue with me about whether it was my fault or not. You have got to be kidding me! Not sure how it could have been our fault as we weren't the ones who put the oil in it...and there is no leak. Anyway, go there at your own risk. They are nice and friendly in person, but if they screw up, they will just blame it on you rather than take ownership. We are very fortunate my wife and family were not harmed when our car froze up and also that the car didn't suffer even more damage due to their neglect. read more

I looked in the bay, and my car was lifted and they were taking apart my car. After about 1.5 hours they came out with a bill. I needed new struts, brakes, radiator had a leak. I told them "That's funny, I had new ceramic brakes put on about 2 years ago." They guy at the counter went back outside. The "head technician" pulled my car around the front. As I paid he said that "I would need new brakes within a couple weeks I will hear them squeak." Sure enough, I got in my car, and my brakes squeaked through the entire parking lot. On 9/22/18, my family and I were driving when all of the sudden my 2006 F150 went crazy! It was scary, the engine lost power then surged alive and died again! I immediately turned into the nearest shopping center and parked. Unsure what to do, my husband went walking around and I was on hold with AAA. Then my husband reappeared, behind the trees, and Kentucky Fried Chicken was a Midas. Adam Ankiewicz from Midas WALKED OVER with a small computer and he attached it to my truck. Adam was friendly and understanding. He assured me that my truck was ok to drive across the parking lot to Midas for a closer inspection. Adam then determined not only did I have a bad battery but a bad alternator. Then his coworker, Austin Lathrop, came, helped and invited us inside. We went over the details, of ordering parts and pricing. Austin even found us an online coupon to save us $20. It took Adam about two hours to change the alternator, timing chain and battery. They are fair minded and feel a responsibility to fix your car correctly - not just to fix it. This is the worst experience. I went in for Brakes Engine Light for Sensors Oil change Midas had 6 hours to complete the job and collect payment from my warranty company. The warranty company approved a portion to be paid but midas failed to collect the payment which left me with more of a balance to pick up my car. I was told to go and get a reimbursement from my warranty which was not what i agreed to when I originally dropped off my car. Once I started to drive my car around I noticed that it was struggling to start up and that my engine light was still on. I spoke to a mechanic at O'Reillys who checked under my hood and he discovered a sensor cord hanging out that was not plugged in that was left out by one of the Midas mechanics. This could of damaged my engine. also the mechanic performed a diagnostic test which still indicated the need for a sensor fix....this is the same sensor that midas should of fixed in the first place. read more
