This place is a joke. Curtis (not sure if he's the manager or what) needs to work somewhere where he isn't talking to customers. He is by far the rudest person that works there and that is putting it mildly. I have been there probably 10 times and the last two times I took my car in for an oil change he did repairs without calling and getting my approval, he is not friendly at all and he just made it a horrible experience all around. read more

Fell for their oil change coupon in the mail. Normally, I do it myself but to save time thought how bad could it be? Pretty bad, actually. The manager was nice when scheduling the appointment by phone. When I dropped off the car, he promised to call my cell when done, so I went to get breakfast. I had the first appointment that morning, so no other cars were there, but two hours later, no call. I walked back and saw my car on the lift. Manager saw me but said nothing. I waited 10 minutes then approached him asking if my car was done. He claimed everything was fine, so I asked why it was still on the lift? He gave a lengthy story ending with "we'll take care of you so you'll be on your way". I had to clarify that he was actually telling me they want to replace the oil pan. I asked how much, but he just reassured me that they will provide the info, so I waited 20 more minutes. Eventually, he directed a young mechanic to ask me to sign for $600+ of repairs. The mechanic was uncomfortable with the pitch and I knew it was bogus. When I said I didn't believe I need a new oil pan, the manager got angry threatening "your car will now fail when the oil pan leaks". It was a pathetic scare tactic. I insisted they just finish the oil change. I later checked the oil pan myself and even took the car to a trusted repair shop. A small $18 sensor was leaking so replaced. Absolutely nothing was wrong with the oil pan. That's $18 compared to $600+... a huge difference. The Midas coupons are intended to promote future business, but in this case it is all about the upsell. Use your instincts and go elsewhere. Watch for elaborate storytelling by the manager and won't-take-no-for-an-answer attitude. Don't be embarrassed or feel pressured if you need a second opinion. Other reviewers also mention not getting a phone call while waiting. It's a tactic to add pressure. Don't fall for it while they hold your car hostage and make it appear you are at their mercy. read more

I would give this place 3 stars or less. I went here on labor day weekend for an oil change, because quality tune-ups was closed on Saturday. I found out that my shocks were bad, my tires were going, a selling for my transmission, and something else. That added up to $3400. I am not a car guy, but that is too much. Two weeks later, my altimeter quit. I brought it back here. The customer service was excellent. The burned the midnight oil for me. The shop closes at 8. They stayed until 9 to fix my truck. Here's the kicker. I cost me $750. My mechanic at work says an altimeter only costs $150 by it self. Way too expensive here. I recommend quality tune-ups for all of you service needs and B & G tires for you wheels. I got a whole set for $500 for my F-150. read more

I would not recommend this place. I went in for an oil change and they told me I couldn't do the less expensive option because of my car, which I haven't had a problem with before. My car is 12 years old so it doesn't need anything the newer cars needed. Unfortunately I was limited by time and to go ahead with the medium priced one ( $60 for a blend oil) since that was the lowest they would let me do. Then I found a coupon online on my phone for 1/2 the cost but he said he could t honor it because it needed to be printed. Then he told me I had several things wrong that needed fixing. My car was at the dealership for a complete check up 7 months ago and all of the things he told me about were fine. Bottom line I am going to have my car checked out by someone else and will never go back there again. Oh and the guy at the counter was less than friendly. I should have planned better and checked reviews sooner. Lesson learned. Absolutely great service. I was hesitant to take my "sports car" there given the reputation of the previous owner. But I noticed the sign saying "under new local management". I was heading to Sonoma Raceway for the Wednesday night drag races, and decided to stop in for a quick oil change before. They were very thorough, finding an oil leak I didn't know I had, as well as helping me figure out why I had a vibration in my front end that no one else could figure out. They showed me under the car, exactly what they found. Navi, the new owner was very cordial and professional. I hope people dont judge this establishment based on the previous owner. Navi and his staff seem to be very honest and sincerely trying to establish themselves as catering to the locals. read more

Not to be trusted. 1. When I entered a customer was yelling at a man with The name Curtis about how they f*ucked up his car, and they hadn't done anything to correct the situation. The man urged me to re-consider having Mdas do anything to my car. I was only there for an oil change, but it did not bode well. 2. Another fellow named Roy looked at my Midas Internet coupon for the oil change, and told me that it only applied to "standard 10-30 oil", and that my car required synthetic oil. Told that I never put any synthetic oil in the car, only the manufacturer's recommended 20-30, he responded that 20-30 was "a synthetic blend" at a price $23 above the coupon price of 29.95. But, he said, he'd give me a $10 off coupon, decreasing the net to a $13 dollar increase. Being on the road, not having time to waste, I agreed. 3. Noticing I had a headlight out, I agreed to have him provide an estimate, which came in at $244. OK, it is a Prius. Still, when he told me that it would take two hours because they "had to remove the bumper", I argued against that familiar lie. He then changed his story to say that, well, they had to remove the hybrid battery. I noted that it was located behind and under the passenger seat, and he said - get this - no, the other battery, the 12 volt battery. Unfortunately, I had replaced that myself prior to the road trip and knew that that battery too, is located behind/under the rear passenger seat. Needless to say,I didn't get the work done. 4. Adding insult to injury, he told me that they couldn't provide the wheel rotation I requested, and that I was entitled to with my $52.95 oil change, because they Midas) "didn't have a lift for the car that would free the wheels for rotation". The option, he said, was having a mechanic do it "by hand with a jack" which would take1/2 hour. Having just driven cross country, this was a necessary evil. As I watched the mechanic jack up the car, I noted that the tires were not being rotated correctly. The mechanic apologized but he could only lift one wideout he car up at a time. 5. Final indignation: presented with an invoice, Roy noted an additional $3.95 clean up charge for any oil spilled on the engine, so that I wouldn't get "that annoying burnt oil smell in the car while driving", something that I had ever had over the course of 150,000 miles. Questioning this, the add-on wasn't removed. I was simply told that my safety on the roadway their highest concern. No, I'd say their net profits their highest concern. Take the advice that the original driver at the start of this tried to give me: take your car to a more TRUSTWORTHY, honest, knowledgeable service center. read more

After waiting in the cold for 15 minutes for someone to unlock the door, I took my business to Midas who told me this has been a recurring issue with the morning manager. My experience at Midas was okay. The store manager was very friendly and helpful, but service that was done on my car was horrible. I took my car for service on a Saturday because I was getting ready to take a road trip. Lucky I always check my cars fluid and oil levels before leave on a trip. I come to find out the my oil level was very low (Hello!! It is your job to know how much oil you're suppose to add to cars). At this point the office is closed and they are closed on Sundays. I needed to take my trip so I ended up having to buy 3 quarts of oil at 3.95 each to add to my car. I will never go back too Midas again. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!CONSUMERS BE WARNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A week ago, I went to Midas for a brake check because they were squeaking. The brake system evaluation form stated that the Brake shoe or Caliper hardware and Caliper or Wheel Cylinder were "OK" (marked in green). Despite a good evaluation I was billed for: a. 2 brake calipers at 169.99 Left and Right *RMFG remanufactured NOT EVEN NEW! They came with brand new brackets that did not need to be replaced. They kept my core and charged me for it! b. 2 disc hardware kit $51.99x2. c. 1 spray can of cleaner $3.99 Luckily I did not have time to do my rear brakes but they said I should replace them asap.To my misfortunate, I don't know much about cars so I paid the price thinking "Anything to stop the brakes from squeaking." Not one day passed, I came to a stop sign and the brakes squeaked!!!! I paid $722.26 (including labor - go ahead and do the math). I was livid. I drove 3 hours to my brother's shop and told him what happened, he reviewed the car, the forms and the invoice. The first thing he noticed is that they charged me for parts that didn't need to be replaced. I called O'reilys for a quote on the exact parts listed above, here it is: 1. 2 brake calipers: $31.27 left and right. This is a quote for Wagner components. #1 rated brake calipers brand new!!! 2. 2 disc hardware kits: comes with brake pads - these cost $0 there was no need to replace them. DO NOTE I was charged $103.98 for a set. I was charged 2x for the can of cleaner once for the oil change the other for the brakes. WILL NEVER GO TO ANOTHER MIDAS. Took my vehicle in for an oil change and they try to tell me my front brakes and rotors needed to be changed out... A $52 oil change turned into a $500 repair cost. I've read reviews for this location so I didn't do the job they recommended. I had to drive to Vancouver, BC same day. And I had just driven from Quebec City to Napa without any problems. After I left Midas, my brakes started making loud noises. When I got to Vancouver, I got a second opinion at KAL tires. These guys did a free brake inspection for me. Told me my back brakes had a broken spring which was causing the noise. So I don't know if Midas did something to my brakes when they were giving me a free tire rotation... But either way, their assessment of which brakes needed repair was wrong. I would have had a double cost if I had gotten my front brakes done with them. DO NOT TRUST MIDAS. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. I took my car in to get a free brake check and an estimate on how much new brakes and rotors would cost. They gave me an estimate of $1,200, and told me something was seriously wrong with my car- but refused to tell me what it would cost. I told them politely no and that I found another place in town who would be able to do my brakes for cheaper. (I was also told by a trusted mechanic my rotors were fine and my car was in great shape- so Midas lied.) Upon leaving the parking lot, my car was screeching. I figured it was because the brakes were adjusting themselves. I drove a little bit before stopping at a red light. When it turned green I tried to drive my car forward and it refused to move. My back driver's side tire was frozen in place. As it turns out, Midas had not put my brakes back correctly and it locked my back tire in place. I had to slowly drive it off the road into a nearby parking lot, absolutely shredding my new tire in order to avoid being hit- which I nearly was. I had to call a tow truck and drive it to another mechanic in hopes that they're able to fix it at an affordable price. Their negligence could've killed me had my back brakes locked up while I was driving. Absolutely DO NOT GO HERE. They'll charge you for things you don't need, completely destroy your brakes if you decide you don't need their service, and ruin your car. What could've been a simple $500 job has turned into over $3,000 in tow expenses, damages to my car, and having to completely replace my whole braking system since Midas destroyed it. They shouldn't even be allowed to service anymore. read more

Something had a burning smell after a simple oil change at Midas. When I took it to the auto repair shop, the mechanic looked, the oil filter had not been tightened correctly and was leaking oil. If I had not taken it to my mechanic, it would have ran out of oil and the motor would have to be replaced. Midas, you suck. Never again. Anywhere buy Midas. read more

Went here for a quick oil change. Asked them not to do anything with the tires because I had just had new ones put on. Manager/ guy in office anyway was rude, short worded, and guess what... REMOVED THE TIRES! Ended up costing almost $70 for an oil change... really $70?! The only good thing was the awesome attendant who actually did the work and vacuumed out my car. I thank him but DONT RECOMMEND THIS FOR ANYONE!! Go to a shop or your dealership for that money, or local small businesses. Awe full! read more

Wow, what a great oil change experience. Curtis ensured that my car was dealt with in an extremely timely manner as well as making sure I got whatever coupon was available. He talked me through what the technicians found needed to be replaced and let me know the associated costs. He and his staff were super friendly. I went to Midas for oil change. They did oil change synthetic for 49.99 and tire rotation for free, which was very nice. They changed air filter and cabin filter for an affordable price as well. They have pretty good deal on tires right now. Their staff was very friendly and professional. The new owner was very helpful and well knowledgeable about cars. No amount of money could make me go back. Had an appointment for an oil change, and they didn't start on my car until 45 minutes later. In the meantime, as I sat in the waiting room, I was treated to periodic screaming into the phone by one of the employees, needing to know where parts were for a Subaru, which had been sitting there, waiting for parts, for two hours. Those of us in the waiting room were a captive audience. "Unprofessional" is the word ...it was a floor show I could only escape if I went outside. Finally, there was a recommendation for $2,000 worth of work. After making an appointment by phone 2 days in advance in Napa CA, my reservation for an oil change was "lost" when I showed up. I could wait an hour for their next available time...or not. It's too nice of a day to waste sitting around for 2 hours when there are other options closer to home. I live 45 minutes away. When I tried to explain to the manager what his guys did, he took a look and said they did nothing wrong and refused to give me my money back. Brought my car in for an oil change, and after they finished, I was told my car needed new tires, new brakes, new shocks; Curtis provided an estimate to me of over $2700.00. All I wanted was an oil change. I was also told they only use synthetic oil, which of course is a higher cost - to me. While waiting for the servicing on my car, I paid attention to how others were being treated...young women being treated much more courteously than men, and older women; you don't stand a chance unless you know something about cars. I have been to this Midas a couple of times and have walked out in shock at the price of the work that they say I needed. The last oil change I had there I have absolutely no idea how they came up with the price because it certainly wasn't the price they first promised. On the last oil change I got a quote for needed work for $2,000, so I took it to other stations to get comparable quotes, one of them was the dealership. They couldn't even understand what I was being quoted for. I can honestly say that I do not trust them at all, everything I've had done there has been over what was promised and I can totally understand peoples comments about being upsold. I used to love Midas because they were so fast. Not the case anymore. This will be my last time here. I had an appointment for an oil change. I was told 30-40 minutes it would be done. I walked to a nearby store and came back 30 minutes later. 15 minutes after that they finally pulled my car in and started. Last time I had my infant daughter with me and they took over an hour. They are very nice but if you need anything done within the time they say don't count on it happening. This time took an hour and that's only because I complained so they rushed it which resulted in paying $53 and not getting the full overlook of the car. Ive had great service, they always fit me in for my oil change and tire rotation. They even brought to my attention battery corrosion. The first time I was charged for the cleaning and the second time I wasnt but they recommended I keep an eye on it. Turned out the battery was defective on my 2007 ate through cabels and battery. Thankfully under warranty and replaced. They've been top notch for me so far, makes it hard to go to another place but if i had to choose a second I would recommend Big O Tires, My wifes a big fan and they always try to fit you in there as well. read more

If I could give zero starts, I would. Do not take your car here. After trusting this place for years, I realized that they were extremely dishonest. I took my car in because the check engine light turned on, was quoted $800 to replace a "stuck" valve. I smelled something fishy so I took my car to the dealership for a second opinion. Not only did they quote me $250 ($550 LESS than Midas) to replace the same valve but their diagnostics showed that I didn't need any work, the check engine light was because the third party gas cap (that Midas put on my car) wasn't closing all of the way. read more

We went here for a checkup before a big road trip last November. We were told we needed new brakes and rotors on the front and back. We opted only for the front for the time being, but were told that the back needed to be replaced soon. Well, after the fact, we learned of a friend who paid for services that Midas deemed necessary, but in reality were not. So last week, thinking we needed to get the rear brakes replaced, we took our car to a more reputable mechanic (thank you MCM Jobe's in Napa!), we were told our rear brakes still have over 60% life left. The moral of the story: myself and our friends have both been ripped off when the people at Midas told us we needed repairs that we did not actually need. AVOID THEM. read more

Super-flat tire when I left work to go home. I work just around the corner so I called and Curtis said they were all booked up but would squeeze me in. Thanks so much to Curtis and especially to Bryan. They were both courteous and not at all unhappy to have me show up just before closing time. I was traveling with my former college roommates in the Wine Country the other day--a much-anticipated trip for three friends who've known one another for almost forty years. Imagine our consternation when, at about 5:00 p.m. on our second day of travel, the window on the passenger side of my 2002 VW Golf got stuck in the "down" position. (Why crank handles are no longer available is beyond me.) It was our good fortune to swing by the Midas on Soscol Avenue, where we encountered Curtis and his attentive staff. We were amazed that they took care of the problem so late in the day. Everything was wrapped up in a timely fashion, with Curtis and his crew staying on until 7:00 p.m. or so., while we enjoyed a few glasses of wine in a nearby eatery. This place is horrible! Worst experience i've ever had at an auto-repair shop. On March 11, 2017 I took my 2005 BMW 545i to this place to get my serpentine belt replaced along with some break pads. Curtis gave me an estimate for approximately $250.00 for work and labor. It was late in the afternoon almost closing time so Curtis told me he would have it done the next day. While I was waiting for a ride he showed me an estimate of $6,500 on repairs the car needed I declined the repairs that he wanted me to get done, but when I left someone there forged my signature to authorize the repairs. There is no way I would ever sign an estimate of over 6 grand knowing I could not afford it. Myself and Curtis had multiple phone calls through out a couple weeks. At first I would call in to see if my car was ready and he kept giving me excuses on why it wasn't ready. Those excuses being, the mechanic wasn't in today, we were busy, etc. On March 24, 2017, Curtis phoned me at 7:53 AM on my cell phone letting me know that the serpentine belt and brakes were all done, but the car was having delays on starting and he was going to replace my spark plugs, as well as repaint my rims at no charge. This phone call lasted 5 minutes and had not mentioned any dollar amounts. I only knew that I still owed the $250.00 that I had originally signed for. A few days went by as I continued to call Midas/SpeeDee to get an updates on the status of my car. I spoke with Curtis again and he explained to me that the mechanic that was working on my car had been in an accident and my car would not be done for another week. At this point, I was extremely impatient and frustrated with this auto-repair shop and their service. On March 31, 2017, my mother and I went to Midas/SpeeDee to see what was going on with my car. I spoke with Curtis and noticed my car was raised up in the air. We told him we wanted to speak the the mechanic but he said the mechanic was on his break and he would be back in an hour I knew it was bs and he was lying because it was 5:30 PM. Who takes a lunch break at 5:30 to come back 30 minutes before they close. We waited the hour and the mechanic never came. Curtis then waited for customers to clear out and that is when he presents me with a receipt of $11,463.63. Curtis said I was not able to take my car unless I would pay the amount he wanted and also threatened to sue me if I did not pay it. I told him it was an insane amount of money. I was not aware nor had authorized him any permission to preform any repairs above the $250.00 I had signed for. He said I authorized the repairs through the phone on March 24th 2017. Which is complete bs because the call was only 5 minutes long. Also, he would not be able to explain all the repairs the car needed and why the car needed those repairs along with me having questions about the work. Above all that I don't even have that type of money to make repairs like that on this type of car. After he presented me with the estimate of 11 thousand I then left and filed my case to the Bureau of Automotive Repair. Till this day I still have the 3 different estimates he gave me with the prices on some parts changing between the 2 estimates being the estimate for $6,500 and the other estimate being $11,463.63. I also have a phone log of all the calls that were made. I wish I could take Curtis to court but the time and all the money involved just isn't worth the time for a 2005 BMW. I am asking all the ladies and gentlemen who have had problems/issues at Midas to report them to the Bureau of Automotive Repair! They do an amazing job helping people out with cases like this. So if you have had any problems/issues at Midas within the last 5 years please report them! read more

I am new to Napa and called around to check how much and oil change would cost. I usually get it done for 90 bucks. I called and the guy told me its 79.99 and there is a coupon online for 15 dollars off. I heard that and said it was a steal. I had my friend turn in the car since I was working. I come and pick it up and it costed 95 dollars. Why would I pay 95 dollars when I can go to the guy that I know who would of did it for 85 dollars. I just felt that they were playing with word and didn't include all the Charges that they were going to do. I don't get how it went from 64.99 to 90. I won't be going back to Midas. I have generally never had service like this, let it alone be coming from a auto shop! This is a surprisingly and genuinely nice and caring staff. Especially Curtis! He just doesn't stop. Down to the little part of turning your car around for you EVERY time you pull in the lot. He explains everything in "normal people" terms and you can tell his staff like working for him.
