The first time I went here, I thought it was AMAZING. The food I got was all so tender and fresh and still warm. The service was top notch, I felt like the guy really wanted to walk me through the process. Of course, when I had a relative come in from England, I recommend this place right away because bbq is so american, right?! Unfortunately, this time our experience was not at all like the first. One member of my party ordered a crispy chicken bowl, which on their website says it either comes with a base of rice or Mac and cheese. Our cashier was so confused by this and kept saying that we can't order the bowl like this. When I asked if we could simply substitute the Mac and cheese for rice, she said it costs extra. Ma'am, extra for substituting white rice in place of Mac and cheese?! On what planet would that make sense. It took *3 people* to be able to figure out this incredibly complicated concept apparently and then they still missed parts of our order. Many of the sides took like 20 minutes to come out so we were forced to either eat the meat without any sides or wait and let the meat get cold while we waited. Pulled pork is really good, baked beans are really good, you get a complimentary Cole slaw - I got the vinegar version. Let me start by saying I do think this place is underrated. The inside has a nice chill comforting feel and the menu is not intimidating. The sides and meat are well lit so your eyes light up and your mouth starts to water as they chop brisket right in front of the glass. Brussel sprouts 9/10 Chicken 10/10 brisket 9.5/10. You know if you're looking for a vegan restaurant, this is definitely not the place. You might be lost, you need to search for bbq tempeh instead. I came here after doing an hour of chest, back and biceps and I gotta tell you my muscles definitely got the protein they needed. Pumped up I tell you! Everything looked and smelled amazing. They make all the meats with real wood and no gas. So awesome. The food at this new barbecue restaurant is truly phenomenal. My favorite protein is the ribs. the sides are all really good. they have a few specials which seem really well suited for a lighter easier lunch, like a rice bowl and chicken sandwich but every time i go, i always end up getting a 2 or 3 meat platter and some sides. they have a variety of sauces at the table so you can use as much or as little as you like and they include cole slaw (creamy or vinegar style), and some pickled items for free! (red onions, sliced chili, cucumbers/pickles?) I always say i'm going to go back to the usual BBQ places since it's been a while but i figure, "why?!" when I know I'm going to enjoy everything at Mighty Quinns! read more

I tried this place for the first time and it left a lot to be desired. I ordered the two meat sampler with pulled pork, turkey, baked beans and slaw. The pork was literally swimming in grease. It was mostly fatty pieces and very little actual meat. The turkey was pretty decent. The slaw and beans both had a weird taste to them. The corn bread was probably the best part of the order. Cannot say that I enjoyed my visit to Quinns. The staff was incredibly friendly which was real plus and but they could not overcome the mediocrity of the food. The pulled pork had inedible large pieces of bark (consistent with uneven and over cooking). Macaroni and cheese was so thick and viscous as to be cloying and cheese tasted like cheese whiz straight out of the jar. French fries were the highlight as they cook to order and bring out which was great. They also gave some burnt ends as a sample (which was very nice) however this was also inconsistent with one being deliciously tender and juicy and the other like jerky. If you have a strong itch for some BBQ it will scratch it but there is better BBQ in the area. read more

Can I just say W O W!! I am very picky when it comes to BBQ but the food here is delicious!! The ribs are coated with an amazing seasoning (idk what they use) but you can taste the wood chips used to smoke the ribs which gives it an extraordinary taste that we love! The sweet potatoes, broccoli salad, baked beans, everything is so yummy!! My husband and I walked in maybe a few minutes after they closed not realizing that they did but when we walked in everyone was so nice and helpful! It was our first time in person so they were very patient with us trying different things! Been wanting to check out Mighty Quinn's so went after church with the whole family. We got two meat samples so we could try a variety, plus fries and cinnamon bun bread pudding (YUM). The ribs were by far the best meat option. They were seasoned perfectly and were smoky and tender. The chili lime sauce was my favorite sauce- SO DELICIOUS and was much better than the actual bbq sauce. I enjoyed the brisket and pulled pork. Both were good but not as well seasoned as the ribs. Next time I'll try the burnt ends too. The fries were great- they took a while to come out but this place is new I'm thinking it'll take them a little to work the kinks out. The sweet tea was really under brewed- like someone only used half the tea bags needed to make it and was a pale yellow color. The unsweet tea was the color of normal tea. I think just a slip up. When you come in, make sure you understand what you're doing. My review is 1/2 food and 1/2 cost. If it were on cost alone, it'd be lower. The food is good, but for $28 lunch, no. I had a 2 meat combo. Says it comes with 2 sides, but I'm not sure what the sides are. Ordered beans and Brussels. At the register asked if wanted a combo. Well, that's what I ordered, so yes. It's loud. Wouldn't return, kinda a drive, for it. Hubby ordered fries, he's been siting waiting 30 min. By the time they came out, we were packed with leftover meat. Ready to go. No one explained anything about the meals, nor were offered pickled vegetables. Wow. I was really disappointed with my first visit and honestly I was REAL excited to try this place. I don't often take the time for reviews but this experience kinda leaves me a bit disappointed even a day after my visit. It wasn't all bad, but it certainly wasn't what I'd hoped for. For starters, cool look to the building, well done renovations, walking in it looks like a well executed vision. Then it hits you. A sign by the door that says No pork or brisket. I get it, bbq joints sell out ~ that's the objective. But not even noon, the first week after opening.... Their excuse was they got hit extra hard yesterday. I really am at a loss for words, they had more than 12 hours to catch up to be able to have a normal service - but I digress... I'll try what else they have on the menu. I'll start by saying I consider myself a bbq connoisseur and have traveled all over the country tasting bbq, cooking, and teaching bbq. I love bbq of all kinds, backyard, hole in the wall, even some small chains... there's no one size fits all. At the counter I'm greeted my a nice lady who is slicing ribs... she talks me out of my first two choices... interesting. Anyway I usually do a whole plate to sample a lil of everything so I tried to run the menu with whatever they had available. As I'm ready to pay I am greeted by a very nice man at the checkout who without prompting touts that he is from Kansas City so he knows good bbq and this is the real deal... he then proceeded with bashing the other bbq here in Tampa and Florida in general. Note to the manager, that shit is unprofessional in the industry and if he was my employee he'd get two more strikes... if he was lucky. I'm excited to see more bbq in Tampa and the growing popularity should be good for everyone. Anyway on to the review.... I ordered a half chicken, half rack of ribs, sausage (which they didn't have ultimately), Mac and Cheese, cornbread, I wanted the brisket beans and Brussels (which they ran out of)... I was just shocked at how not ready this place is for business. Half Chicken: looked good overall, but upon taking a bite the skin was gummy and not something I enjoyed, the flavor of the rub seemed balanced... the actual chicken I think was undercooked, not like unsafe undercooked, but not particularly tender and moist, not releasing from the bone like a proper smoked chicken should and I was most disappointed with the flavor - once the skin was removed it was almost flavorless. No smoke, no flavor from the rub or any marinade, just meh. I ate 3-4 bites and set aside. Corn bread: it was okay, moist, almost yellow cake like, no real crust or color, no hint of sweet, no real chunks of corn, no jalapeño... it was edible, but forgettable... frankly Jiffy out of a box with butter and honey drizzle blows it away. It was a recommendation of one of the workers in the line so I had to have it, it won't be one of mine. Mac and Cheese: this was a solid Mac, cheesy, well seasoned, good choice of pasta, creamy, and solid portions. I'd rate this above average against local bbq joints and even some of those I've traveled to visit in states like Texas, Memphis, etc. Ribs: Now I'll start by saying you'll never make everyone happy in this category... everyone has something to say about what they like or don't like in ribs. They were good, not great. The seasoning was kinda forgettable which is unfortunate because I wanted to enjoy them without sauce but they didn't leave me with much pork flavor and only a hint of smoke. They were cooked well, perhaps a lil under, which is ok given we were there early in the day and they would need to hold them a bit for afternoon service. I found myself saucing them more than usual because they lacked a lil flavor and were a lil drier than I like. The sauce, I liked, it was a not too sweet traditional red and was on the table for you to enjoy. Overall I am disappointed but hope that they can get their act together and the pitmaster figures it out because the location and building shows promise but the food leaves a bit to be desired. I'll be back to try the brisket and pork and maybe some sides because the pickings were slim. Side note, I was curious what they were cooking on so I tried to take a look around the building. I was shocked to see no smoker outside, no view of the pit via a window inside that I could see, etc. I'm guessing they are using a Southern Pride or Ol Hickory but can't confirm. They need to dial in the smoke and seasoning either way... both of those cookers can produce better bbq than what I had today. In the end I donated almost $50 and had 3 bites of chicken, 3 ribs, 1/2 a piece of cornbread and a decent Mac and Cheese. I'm eager to try the Brisket and the Pork, and maybe a burnt end sandwich or the crispy chicken (which is one of the things I was talked out of). In any event welcome to Tampa, we are glad to see more BBQ options and I really hope that my first visit was an anomaly. read more

Went in with high hopes left disappointed by the lack of seasoning and the lack of smoke. Everything was either slightly above average or medicore. We got 2 3 meat samplers with upcharge for select meats not worth it by the way .Lets start with what worked the mac cheese was probably best side. Brisket was well cooked had the most flavor good not great. Burnt ends were also a highlight but again good but not great. The not so good pork butt no flavor, the ribs no smoke no flavor or season well cooked though. The bbq sauce lack anything special was forgettable and the ribs need the sauce which was almost bland. If looking for spice you get none that here. Tampa is not known for its bbq but this place gives what we do have a bad name. Look but keep it moving this hard pass for me I would suggest you do the same. We actually threw out last of ribs due to lack of flavor. read more

Seriously, does one need to explain presentation psychology to a restaurant owner? How could a thoughtful entrepreneur look at this cold, blanched, Caucasian member-looking thing and say, "nailed it?!" The flavor was bland and tasted store bought. Cole slaw was fine. For being from New York, this is pretty good BBQ - ha. My wife got the brisket and pulled pork and I got the spare ribs. My spare ribs were tender and almost fall off the bone. Not too smokey and slight but good seasoning. Was slightly dry but all in all they were good ribs and cooked pretty well. Although, I'm pretty sure Mighty Quinn does not cook their ribs on the traditional outside smoker grill. Did need some sauce on their ribs but more on the sauce later. Tried the wife's brisket. It was good. Tender and juicy. But seemed to be sitting in a bowl of juice fat before they put the brisket on the eating plate? But it was pretty good and didn't really need any sauce. MQ's bbq sauce is good. 7.5 out of 10. Not too sweet, not too smokey, and not too vinegary or season'y/salty. But still some good flavor and goes well with their meats. For the sides we had the burnt end baked beans, mac & cheese, and cole slaw (vinegar style.) All were good and actually had a slightly unique and different taste then any other bbq place around the area. I liked the fact that they offered two different styles of cole slaw - sweet and vinegar. Inside is sleek and slightly rustic. Two tvs on one of their walls so that you can catch some sporting event that might be going on. At the time we were there, they had college football on - nice. Well the good news is there's a new restaurant in South Tampa to try. The bad news it's not that great. At least not yet. Why is the drive through not open? Why is the pulled pork sitting in a cast iron pot full of grease? I went here two times and the meat quality was inconsistent. One day the pulled pork was great. The next day it was dripping with fat. Like literally as if you had dunk a bunch of pulled pork in melted fat. That's what they served me. Mac cheese fritters were not crispy. Mac and cheese in and if itself is not good. Ribs are just okay. They didn't have sausage or beef ribs. Sweet potato mash was great. Chicken was surprisingly good. Best thing here is the pulled pork and the brisket ASSUMING you like super fatty meats. I have a lot of complaints but I'm giving them four stars, though, because they have the balls not to over-salt all their meats. Listen people. These meats are not "under seasoned". The smokers are going and you can see the meats coming out and being sliced per order. Nice and juicy! Lots of side options as well so we tried quite a few! Lots of seating available and beer and wine available as alcoholic beverages. The food did take a little bit to arrive, especially the fried items so at least you know it will arrive fresh!
