The wait wasn't bad, but when we were sat, they put us at a table in the corner that made it awkward to sit in because the kitchen traffic was 3 literally on my back - so we asked to move. The chips were stale, the waitress would walk by and see we needed refills, more chips and salsa but we had to tell her to get them for us. When we our food was ready, the waitress took it to 2 different tables before it got to us. The food overall was very basic. I don't see myself returning to this place until restaurants are back to normal. read more

Great place to dine - their outdoor seating area is perfect, especially in times of COVID and social distancing. It's also completely covered, so no need to worry about sitting in the sun. They wipe down all the tables and chairs before the next party sits. Although they have a waitlist shown on Yelp, their waitlist was closed, so we had to wait for a bit. You can check your place in line, and they also text when your table is ready. They bring fresh chips and salsa plus queso to your table! Usually, you'd have to order queso! Their menu has a lot of options, including for vegetarians. T was happy to be able to order beer from the Coronado Brewing Company. He had the Surf & Turf Burrito, and I had the Black bean and corn enchiladas. I loved my food, which tasted like it was made with quality ingredients. The servers were nice and attentive but the food wasn't a just OK. The. Red Chili Caesar' salad with shrimp was bland. The menu says it's TJ style Caesar dressing means watered down mayo. I've heard good things about Miguel's and wanted to try it for our anniversary. We ordered ahead. At the time we were supposed to pick up, we were quoted another 10 minutes. Then after that, another 5. By then it was ready. We took the food and left, there was no napkins or cutlery included so we had to go back. We also did not receive the flour tortillas that they said came with my meal. Did not go back for that. The worst issue was that my fajitas came with mushrooms when I asked for pork. Big disappointment. Steak was tasty (but overcooked to my liking, should have a place to select cooking preference). By that time we were hungry and didn't go back. As I was originally picking up my order I over heard a table saying they had gotten their order wrong as well. So. Off night? Say on their large patio for lunch over the weekend. They promptly serve you with their chips with salsa and quest for dipping. To all my GF friends, the queso sauce here is NOT GF. I ordered the Caesar salad and was assured that all ingredients were gluten free, including the dressing. The salad was very large, and well worth the $14 price. However, after expressing my gluten allergy, my salad was served with 2 pieces of toast with cheese on top on the salad... This was disappointing. I'd also like to share my restroom experience - very unpleasant. It was not well ventilated or maintained. The temperature inside the restroom was stifling and the smell was nauseating. It was about that time, so we headed over to Coronado for Happy Hour on the island. Just the view on the drive there was worth the trip. We stopped in right before Happy Hour ended, it's an early one from 3-5pm. We all ordered the house margarita, which was blended and good for $4.75. I ordered the half nachos with steak for like $4.00, this was a huge plate sized portion and in my opinion, quite the meal. A couple people ordered the fish and steak tacos, the fish tacos were much bigger than the steak and they seemed to like those the best. The tacos were really well priced too, great small plates. My nephew ordered some kid's version of nachos that looked like chips and cheese with rice and beans. Super plain. He's a picky kid, so the fact he was pleased, made everyone happy. Was craving Mexican food prior to ice skating. This place is about a block or two away from the hotel. The chips and salsa are delicious, the salsa was delicious and it came with another cheese type of sauce that had jalapeños in it (although it wasn't spicy). They make their own tortilla chips as well and their own tortillas. They had a lot of different types of margaritas (Mango, watermelon..for example) and are sold by the glass or by pitcher. Unfortunately ice skating inebriated didn't sound like the best idea, so didn't try any libations. Ended up getting the chili verde, which came with rice and beans and 3 corn tortillas (or flour if your heart desires). My boyfriend got the chimichanga with shredded beef (I think there are other choices as well), that also came with rice and beans, and sour cream/guacamole. All of it was delicious. The pork in the chili verde was tender and flavorful. Their house hot sauce wasn't my cup of tea, but they also had the typical tapatio, cholula as well. They have an outdoor seating area, perfect for enjoying the sun and people watching. Appeared to be pet friendly and they also have a designated takeout area as well. The restaurant is decorated in a Mexican style the decor does not feel forced or cookie cutter style. The staff was friendly and promptly served the complimentary chips and white cheese sauce plus hot salsa. Also, they brought drinks and water pretty fast. Breakfast Menu, we ordered some authentic Huevos Rancheros, which the sunny side up eggs are layered on top of 2 semi fried tortillas with tomato salsa with a side of rice and beans it was well seasoned and full of flavor. Also, the Machaca plate, which is a mixed eggs with shereded beef, tomatos and onions both of these plates combination are served with a side of beans and rice. This is always our first stop when we arrive in Coronado. It's been a family tradition for probably more than 20 years now. We arrive, cross the bridge and then we eat at Miguel's. We get so excited when we get the Tortilla Chips, salsa and the White Queso to pair with our Ultimate Margarita. And we also always start with the Camarones Cocktail, which is not lacking in prawns or avocado, The cocktail sauce is mild, so we like to add hot sauce. They took away the taco salad that I used to order and loved very much but they added some new items to the menu and anyone can find just about whatever they desire when it comes to Mexican food. I love their rice, I love their beans and I've never had a bad meal there. I tried something different this time: I got the pork tamale and the green chili cheese tamale combination plate. It's not upscale , portions are huge and it's definitely got that middle class family vibe but the food is nice and enough and the margaritas are good . It took about ten minutes to get our chips and salsa...and another ten minutes to get our drinks. I recommend the Chamoy margarita, YUM! At this time, the restaurant had cleared out quite a bit...so we were hoping for great service, but it was actually quite the opposite. Soooo many servers and bussers, but nobody would stop to give us the time of day...we just wanted more salsa, lol. Their was a gentleman in a blue dress shirt, that I'm assuming was the manager. He even walked by us several times knowing we needed something, but avoided us. The food actually came out quite quickly.
