This is based on our postmates delivery. We ordered the Las Vegas roll, volcano roll, chicken teriyaki donburi and the tempura (veggie and prawns). I don't eat sushi-my husband said it was good. I however, was disappointed with my donnuri. I've only ever ate donburi at one other sushi restaurant ( in hayward). They made their donburi in a Togo bowl with the rice, teriyaki chicken and veggies. This particular restaurant basically served me chicken teriyaki. Don't get me wrong it was good. But I was something similar to what I've had before. I also asked for extra teriyaki sauce which looked as though they didn't add any nor did I have a small cup of it. The tempura was ok. I wouldn't say the food was bad but just expected different. We would still order from here again. read more

As a Japanese (and rather traditional), I would love to find a Japanese restaurant. One of my co-workers was leaving for university and wanted to have lunch somewhere. I wasn't sure about it, but having been to a couple of non-Japanese sushi restaurants in San Jose, I tried to be laid back about it. For being across from Round Table Pizza and Target, it's quite good. The staff seemed friendly and willing to please as we entered. As we were seated, I asked the server "日本語を話しませんか?" To which she asked "What?" and I repeated "日本語を話しませんか？" to which she answered "I don't speak Japanese". That told me a bit about the restaurant. (As an aside, I used to ask in Japanese because I wanted to make sure that the o-sushi chef was licensed in Japan, where they knew how to remove icky things from the fish. It was important to continue living. They didn't cook or freeze the fish.) Prices on the menu seemed reasonable, but this far from the coast, could the fish be fresh? They had combination lunches and I just wanted a sashimi lunch. That was an extra $2. The food took a while, which was promising. If they had just opened a container and plopped the food on plates, I would have been disappointed. The salad was the best part of the meal. The soup seemed to come from a foil pouch. The tea was likely Chinese. The rice wasn't quite right, and the fish was a lot less than ideal. If it had been more expensive, I would have complained. I concentrated on the moment and enjoyed the conversation. Other people apparently enjoy it. read more

I will give a 5 star review when I truly feel all of my boxes are checked, and despite no dine in, this place has checked all of my boxes. I ordered a variety of rolls via door dash, more than I'd like to admit...we were hungry! Every single roll was SO GOOD! I would like to note that I am from the Bay Area and there are really amazing sushi spots all over, But this place is at the top of my favorites list ! In the last 2 weeks we have ordered SEVERAL times, all meeting and exceeding expectations. I am impressed and addicted to be honest. I highly recommend the volcano roll and Manteca roll. We've been coming here since the place opened. It's good, and fairly consistent for what it is. Everything tastes the same time after time. I've had almost everything on their menu. There's only really one thing I don't recommend and that's anything with salmon on it. They use the farm raised vibrantly dyed salmon and it's very fishy with a hint of pond water. Chicken teriyaki + California rolls. * lion king roll: where was the imitation crab? Where was the salmon? The avocado? No tobiko? Great food but felt rushed to leave in the middle of me eating by giving me my check. And when I was completely done I was hounded by the server when I was trying to put my card in the check holder and apparently I wasn't fast enough neither. I loved going here with my bf and ordering take-out from here until recently. service has gone down the drain within the last year, and food does not taste the same. on my last visit, i tried something new and took a small bite of the meat. it tasted like it was frozen food and was super dry. they did not offer to switch it out with another dish or remake it. they also did not comp it off my tab even though i ordered another dish to replace it. If I could give this restaurant a 0 I would. The spicy tuna in one of the rolls we ordered was OLD. Literally the color brown like when it's been out a couple days. I wasn't feeling very well and didn't want much to eat for dinner. We had a party of 9 who were pooped after spending the day at great wolf lodge. I called matsuyama (now called mihana sushi) at around 7 to ask them if a party of 9 that arrived at 8pm would be okay with them since they close at 9. They were happy to accommodate, thank god. Food options seemed limited on a Thursday night. I ate off my hubs plate since all I really wanted were California rolls. He ordered the 3 item bento with tonkatsu, beef teri and cali rolls. It also came with rice, orange slices, edamame, salad with a thousand island type dressing and a miso soup. They use rice vinegar in their sushi rice which I LOVE! those cali rolls were bomb, however, they were wrapped like a kindergartner rolled them. In any case they were bomb. Service was fine, but they did give us our order of gyoza when we were all pretty much done eating and my SIL had to remind them about it. read more

Food here is great. The chicken teriyaki isn't over cooked and burnt like other places and the hamachi Kama is delicious. They ran out of the normal hamachi Kama fish, so we had the salmon one and it was great. Glad we got the salmon. read more

The food was acceptable Our total consumption was $160, with taxes $173.20. We were charged $198.22. We were going to split the tab, so each of us go a $99.11 bill. At first I thought it was a bit much, mentioned it to my buddy and he shrugged. We both added a tip, signed and left. Driving home I started to add the items on my head and it just did not add up. Retuned to the restaurant and asked about the bill, they had already added a 15% tip without mentioning it or having a note in their menu. Yet we were given a receipt with a place to add a TIP, including a gratuity guideline! Wonder how many customers have paid double tip? The way most places calculate the tip percentage is in the total amount, food/sercive+tax and not on the food/service alone as it should be. Tips should not be paid on the taxes. They agreed to no charge the tip we added, but their policy is not going to change. Beware of establishments like this one that are double-dipping on the tips. read more

Went her for both pick up and eat in. Pick up: Quick service, friendly service and decent pricing! Eat in: Small place with about 6-8 tables. Casual chill place with music in the background. It was a little too quiet so maybe make the music a little louder lol. Service is quick with ordering and getting our food. The dragon roll was pretty good, wish there was a little more avocado in it. We also go the sashimi deluxe which comes with 12 pieces of sashimi, rice, soup and salad. I like the trout shioyaki, the house roll is really awesome it has crab & asparagus, the Philadelphia roll is delicious it has smoked salmon & cheese, the Lakewood roll has grilled snapper in it, these are all my favorites. The roll was incredibly underwhelming and had an abnormal "fishy" taste as opposed to several other rolls I've had from various places.
