My request went through the Yelp Project page first and Jose was very fast with his response. He told me I could come in on a Friday morning as a walk in. Gino who took care of my intake was very friendly and made me feel welcome. They also had a comfy waiting area stocked with complimentary coffee and snacks, but I didn't need to wait long because I was out of there within an hour, oil changed and tires rotated. Their prices are fair and they accept both credit card and cash/Zelle (if you want to avoid the 3% credit card surcharge). During the oil change they also noted some things that will need repair, but weren't pushy with their recommendations. For that I am very appreciative, and will most definitely come back for their continued services.

I think they try to charge more because they use high tech diagnostic equipment which is great for major issues but for simple things I was displeased to get upsold when my almost new car is in great condition..... He is transparent about his shop's limitations (they don't do German cars but refer us to highly rated shops nearby). I was hoping it just needed a Freon recharge. After checking the A/C system, Frank confirmed that the Freon was just low and everything else looked good. Luckily, her older car uses the newer, less expensive Freon. I just hung out while he recharged the system, and it was ready to go about 20 minutes later. The cost was only $150, money well spent to get ice cold air conditioning back. The most recent visit was to troubleshoot a service error code and ABS and brake warning lights. I was hoping this would just be a sensor on one of the wheels, but Frank said it looked like the main ABS ECU unit was faulty. Given the potential cost of the repair, it didn't make sense given the value of the car. I appreciated his honest opinion. He said there was no charge, but I still tipped him for his time because he always takes great care of me. I have tried a few other shops in the area over the years, and had initial good experiences. However, they all eventually gave me an estimate I knew as wrong, or didn't do work they said they did. I've been going to Frank ever since, and trust him 100%. If you need a top notch mechanic, Frank is your guy!

They took the time to explain the repair, confirmed the diagnostic code, and even pointed out a few things I should do to help my Prius last longer. They noticed my hybrid battery cooling fan was missing after I told them I just had it "replaced" at another shop. That's the kind of information you don't usually get from a repair shop. They ended up not needing to drop the subframe, so they adjusted the labor instead of charging me for work they didn't have to do. It still took the amount of time they said it was going to take, but still discounted me a little bit which I thought was cool. I also had them do an oil change while it was there, and even that was less expensive than what I normally pay at places like Jiffy Lube or Valvoline. If you own a Prius or any hybrid, I'd definitely recommend checking them out. More than anything, I left feeling like they genuinely know these cars and took the time to educate me, not just fix it. The manager personally took care of me, and from the very beginning, everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. The speed of service really impressed me. About a year ago, I brought my car to a different tire shop in Fullerton for another leaky tire and ended up waiting 2 1/2 hours before anyone even looked at my car. Today's experience couldn't have been more different. While I relaxed in Tire Outlet's clean, comfortable waiting lounge and got some work done on my laptop, they had everything taken care of in about 15 minutes. Then came the biggest surprise of all. They told me my tire didn't need to be replaced after all--they were able to fix it easily by hand. And when I went to pay, they insisted on not charging me anything. After inspecting it, he identified damage (caused by rats) to the transmission wiring harness, which had unfortunately caused internal damage. He walked me through everything clearly and provided a very reasonable estimate for a full rebuild. Throughout the entire process, Ed was easy to communicate with, always professional, and genuinely helpful with his advice. What really stood out was how he went above and beyond after the repair. I was told this type damage might be covered under my comprehensive auto insurance. Ed then took the time to work directly with my insurance company--providing detailed documentation and expert insight. Because of his effort and experience, the claim was approved and the repair ended up being fully covered. That level of service is rare these days. When I questioned why I see that it's recommended online he says that dealers will recommend this service all day but if you check the Toyota maintenance manual it says you don't need it. Man! I haven't even been to this shop yet and I'm already getting a good feeling about this place. It's a bit more expensive for an oil change than other places that have quoted me, but I like that they use factory parts including Toyota oil filters. I'll update this review once I get the car in for my first visit. Stay tuned.... 6/29/26 - Brought my Sienna in for an oil change + complimentary 30-point inspection (since it was my first time there). Jared took the van for a spin, brought it back and lifted it up. They found a little oil seepage coming out of the transfer case. I let them know that I did see a transfer case drain/fill on the CarFax report before I bought it. Jared thinks they just didn't torque it properly so they were going to retorque and clean up around the area and keep an eye on it. Worst case scenario, they would need to order a new drain plug gasket and I'd have to come back to get it replaced. Thankfully, the drain plug just needed to get tightened. I was in and out in almost exactly an hour just as Robert promised. Thanks The Toy Shop team!! Pro Tip: they are booked out at least a week in advanced so make your appointment ASAP!

I was absolutely tickled-pink about this place. I could not have been more pleased. I was expecting a $800 repair (as quoted from another mechanic) because I was told my power steering pump needed replacing. Unfortunately, with it being Christmas time, there was no way I could come up with money, so I just parked my car in the garage and went without the whole month of December. Finally, January rolls around (6 weeks later) and I have built my cash flow back up as well as had some time to search online for another solution. Luckily, I discovered Mike's Foreign Cars, and after reading some pretty awesome reviews, decided to have my 2012 Beetle towed there to have the work done. BEST DECISION EVER! When they called me later that day with the estimate, turns out they found a small pinhole in the line leading up to the pump. My power steering pump was perfectly fine. Total cost to have the line fixed? $290 (NOT $800 that Pep Boys quoted me). They were able to do the repairs that same day too! So happy about the timing. If I wasn't so busy spending money on Christmas presents, God forbid, I might have had Pep Boys replace the pump and would have spent $500 too much! The scary thought about that?..... I would never have found Mike's in the first place. I can honestly say the timing could not have played out any better! So thankful!! I was referred to Mike's Foreign Car by Frank Auto Service, and I'm really glad I took their recommendation. My 2023 BMW X5's check engine light came on, so I first took it to the Irvine dealer. The dealer diagnosed the issue and quoted me a pricey repair -- including battery replacements (main and backup), a cabin filter replacement, and fixing the front windshield wiper. That's when I decided to get a second opinion from Mike's Foreign Car. Daniel, who handles the front desk, was incredibly helpful and took the time to explain everything clearly. He was patient even when I called multiple times with different questions. His quote for the battery and air filter replacement was much more reasonable than the dealer's. Even better, the dealer told me I needed to replace the entire windshield washer pump, but Daniel found that only the nozzles and hose were clogged with debris from the washer fluid -- no pump replacement needed. That alone saved me a lot of unnecessary expense. Thank you to Daniel and the team at Mike's Foreign Car for their honesty and great service. I'm also thankful they're so close to home. My only small gripe is that they close early on Fridays (1 PM), but beyond that, everything was perfect. After this experience, they've definitely earned a lifetime customer for all my future BMW service needs. read more

I signed up for Yelp just to leave a comment for this business. I've had many problems with my car partly due to poor maintenance over the years. For some reason I always picked the worst mechanics to work on my car. Finally I checked out yelp and other review websites and found Mikes, I also reviewed his website and the BBB before going to his place. On Saturday my check engine light went on and the car was shacking when idle. On Monday I went to Mikes at 7am without an appointment and he took the car in immediately, he told me it wasn't anything big and would have it done by lunch. Then his wife even dropped me off at my house then offered to pick me up when the car was done. My car was done by 12 as promised and he even gave me a 10% off coupon. He didn't even know I had already printed one from Google the day before. I highly recommend Mikes! I am a VW freak and have been for most of my life. Owning a VW ALWAYS has its challenge. s. Finding a competent and trustworthy mechanic is SUPER IMPORTANT!!!! Mike's is that sense of calm in the midst of a hurricane. I called them up with a very difficult problem, they assured me they could handle the problem. I limped my 91 Vanagon Weekender into their shop from San Juan Capistrano. When I got there they knew right what to do and had the part there I needed to fix it straight away. It ran awesome on the way home...better than in years. Great guys...wonderful experience...except for the price of the part which they could not really control. Very fair, very thorough. Scheduled an appointment to take my Audi A5 in for an oil change and an intermittent check engine light. I was greeted by Josh, who got my car right in to get checked. Turns out there is a problem I need to get fixed, and Josh showed me in great detail exactly what the problem was and what needed to be done. The shop was among the cleanest I've seen. Based on what I know about dealer prices, my quote is more than reasonable. I was in and out of there in about an hour, and will be scheduling an appointment for the necessary repairs. I've also passed along the info to my friend, who will be bringing his VW Bus in for a checkup/service before a road trip. Based on my initial experience, I highly recommend this shop. read more

I have been taking my 1970 bus to Mike for ten years and will continue to do so as long as I drive a car that he will work on. I have always experienced Mike and his son Josh to be nothing but clear, honest, informative, accurate, and capable mechanics, as well as pleasant friendly people. Mike has walked me through road side repairs over the phone and saved me from the cost of a tow on more that two or three occasions. He tuned up my 1970 bus in preparation for a grueling 6,000 mile rough road trip from Los Angeles to Guatemala City and back and I never even got a flat tire. Take your car here. I took my 1966 VW bus to Mike's for a wire assembly installation and tuneup. What I got in return was my bus with gages and lights working that have never worked, and an engine that runs like a dream. Plus Mike discovered debris from the paint shop that had been sucked up in the engine intake manifold. Had he not found that debris, I would now be replacing a burned up engine with a new one. Still the best! I love this family business. Every time my car has a problem the Mikes Family always takes great care of me and my car. Mikes VW & Foreign Car Specialties is hands down the best VW repair shop in Orange County. I took my Jetta to (3) other shops trying to fix an ongoing problem before I was referred to them. They had diagnosed and fixed my car in less than 24 hours. They were helpful , friendly and very knowledgeable. I have a 96 VW Jetta. These guys always take care of me. They simply identify the problem and fix the problem. I have been here 3 times and have never had an issue. The staff are friendly and these guys will not give you any BS. Mike and Josh are awesome. Why get ripped off at a dealer when you can get the same quality for cheaper? This was my first visit to Mike's, as I needed a 55,000 mile service on my Audi A5. The work was done on time, there were no surprises, and the car was ready in just four hours. Matt handled my visit, offered me a 10% discount as a new customer, and called promptly when the work was finished. I plan on returning for my next service. read more

They are quick in response and honest if there is any issues with my VW golf. I'm happy I took my car to them, rather than the mechanics closer to my house! His technician, Marvin, was very thorough and detail on his inspection. For example, Marvin showed me the actual coolant and differential fluid color from my car versus what it should be. He tested parts that were in question by the dealership and showed me that it didn't really need fixing. I really appreciate their honesty and not trying to upsell me unnecessary services. DO NOT!!!! I say again, DO NOT get your car serviced by these guys. I brought my car in for them…read moreto check the source of an oil leak and got slapped with a $4,500.00 invoice by the time it was all said and done. BTW, the oil leak was not fixed. Instead, they replaced the torque converter ($2,374.38); the fan clutch ($317.41); and serviced the transmission ($557.36); all of which I later learned were unnecessary. They charged a $90.00 fee to plug a computer to your car to read diagnose it and $60.00 to diagnose the oil leak. Both fees are separate and are no credited toward your final invoice if you chose to have them perform the service on your vehicle. These guys are shady and will do what they can to upsell you on service you do not need. I got suckered by Kyle so wanted to take the time and effort to write this review so that others don't fall for the same scam.
