I was absolutely tickled-pink about this place. I could not have been more pleased. I was expecting a $800 repair (as quoted from another mechanic) because I was told my power steering pump needed replacing. Unfortunately, with it being Christmas time, there was no way I could come up with money, so I just parked my car in the garage and went without the whole month of December. Finally, January rolls around (6 weeks later) and I have built my cash flow back up as well as had some time to search online for another solution. Luckily, I discovered Mike's Foreign Cars, and after reading some pretty awesome reviews, decided to have my 2012 Beetle towed there to have the work done. BEST DECISION EVER! When they called me later that day with the estimate, turns out they found a small pinhole in the line leading up to the pump. My power steering pump was perfectly fine. Total cost to have the line fixed? $290 (NOT $800 that Pep Boys quoted me). They were able to do the repairs that same day too! So happy about the timing. If I wasn't so busy spending money on Christmas presents, God forbid, I might have had Pep Boys replace the pump and would have spent $500 too much! The scary thought about that?..... I would never have found Mike's in the first place. I can honestly say the timing could not have played out any better! So thankful!! I was referred to Mike's Foreign Car by Frank Auto Service, and I'm really glad I took their recommendation. My 2023 BMW X5's check engine light came on, so I first took it to the Irvine dealer. The dealer diagnosed the issue and quoted me a pricey repair -- including battery replacements (main and backup), a cabin filter replacement, and fixing the front windshield wiper. That's when I decided to get a second opinion from Mike's Foreign Car. Daniel, who handles the front desk, was incredibly helpful and took the time to explain everything clearly. He was patient even when I called multiple times with different questions. His quote for the battery and air filter replacement was much more reasonable than the dealer's. Even better, the dealer told me I needed to replace the entire windshield washer pump, but Daniel found that only the nozzles and hose were clogged with debris from the washer fluid -- no pump replacement needed. That alone saved me a lot of unnecessary expense. Thank you to Daniel and the team at Mike's Foreign Car for their honesty and great service. I'm also thankful they're so close to home. My only small gripe is that they close early on Fridays (1 PM), but beyond that, everything was perfect. After this experience, they've definitely earned a lifetime customer for all my future BMW service needs. read more

I signed up for Yelp just to leave a comment for this business. I've had many problems with my car partly due to poor maintenance over the years. For some reason I always picked the worst mechanics to work on my car. Finally I checked out yelp and other review websites and found Mikes, I also reviewed his website and the BBB before going to his place. On Saturday my check engine light went on and the car was shacking when idle. On Monday I went to Mikes at 7am without an appointment and he took the car in immediately, he told me it wasn't anything big and would have it done by lunch. Then his wife even dropped me off at my house then offered to pick me up when the car was done. My car was done by 12 as promised and he even gave me a 10% off coupon. He didn't even know I had already printed one from Google the day before. I highly recommend Mikes! I am a VW freak and have been for most of my life. Owning a VW ALWAYS has its challenge. s. Finding a competent and trustworthy mechanic is SUPER IMPORTANT!!!! Mike's is that sense of calm in the midst of a hurricane. I called them up with a very difficult problem, they assured me they could handle the problem. I limped my 91 Vanagon Weekender into their shop from San Juan Capistrano. When I got there they knew right what to do and had the part there I needed to fix it straight away. It ran awesome on the way home...better than in years. Great guys...wonderful experience...except for the price of the part which they could not really control. Very fair, very thorough. And...as an added bonus...they are right up the street from Blakes BBQ which is awesome. Time your appointment to coincide with lunch...that is a wonderful experience. read more

Scheduled an appointment to take my Audi A5 in for an oil change and an intermittent check engine light. I was greeted by Josh, who got my car right in to get checked. Turns out there is a problem I need to get fixed, and Josh showed me in great detail exactly what the problem was and what needed to be done. The shop was among the cleanest I've seen. Based on what I know about dealer prices, my quote is more than reasonable. I was in and out of there in about an hour, and will be scheduling an appointment for the necessary repairs. I've also passed along the info to my friend, who will be bringing his VW Bus in for a checkup/service before a road trip. Based on my initial experience, I highly recommend this shop. read more

I have been taking my 1970 bus to Mike for ten years and will continue to do so as long as I drive a car that he will work on. I have always experienced Mike and his son Josh to be nothing but clear, honest, informative, accurate, and capable mechanics, as well as pleasant friendly people. Mike has walked me through road side repairs over the phone and saved me from the cost of a tow on more that two or three occasions. He tuned up my 1970 bus in preparation for a grueling 6,000 mile rough road trip from Los Angeles to Guatemala City and back and I never even got a flat tire. Take your car here. I have a 2000 VW Eurovan Camper. I was so happy to have found Mike's after calling a handful of other places who basically rolled their eyes and said we don't work on those things :-( I called Mike's, Josh did not hesitate and said, we like working on Eurovans :-) So I brought it in to have them install a transmission cooler. I took my 1966 VW bus to Mike's for a wire assembly installation and tuneup. What I got in return was my bus with gages and lights working that have never worked, and an engine that runs like a dream. Plus Mike discovered debris from the paint shop that had been sucked up in the engine intake manifold. Had he not found that debris, I would now be replacing a burned up engine with a new one. Still the best! I love this family business. Every time my car has a problem the Mikes Family always takes great care of me and my car. The pricing always seems more than fair and the results are always perfect! As a bonus the Super Nice lady (mrs mike) is always happy to give me a ride to work if I have leave my car.
