I've been to plenty of Dine LA restaurants and have never experienced this. The service wasn't necessarily bad, but it was very dismissive. No apology, no real explanation--they basically just brushed it off. Thankfully, the food saved the night! The Michelada oysters were TO DIE FOR--seriously one of the best oyster flavors I've ever had. We also had the short rib plate, which was delicious. The outdoor atmosphere and decor are really cute too. I would come back, but ONLY for those oysters--definitely not for the service.

The location that we went to is located in between Elysium DTLA and Perfumeria Starlux on E 8th St in downtown LA. There is only paid(?) street parking around the area that could be extremely difficult to find during work days. Because we couldn't snag a spot, my friends and I opted for takeout and didn't end up eating until about 30 minutes later. Despite the travel time, the tacos were still absolutely incredible--I can only imagine how spectacular it tastes fresh! My friends and I ordered the carne asada tacos, and my boyfriend opted for the cabeza. Before I even took a full bite, I tasted a piece of the loose carne asada and was blown away; it was perfectly cooked with a wonderful tenderness and deep smokiness. The use of a single, thin, handmade flour tortilla--rather than the standard double corn--was a total game-changer and exactly how I preferred my tacos. The salsas were equally impressive, offering fantastic flavor and a great kick. My boyfriend's cabeza taco was just as standout, featuring super-tender meat with a rich, savory profile. Wowowow! Between the exceptional meat quality, bold flavors, and great value, this is easily one of the best taco spots I've visited. It was graciously explained that you take an additional shot of rum and float it on top of the drink or mix in to make it extra boozy. Tasted like if a watermelon aqua Fresca was combined with a margarita, there is a hint of salt that brings out the fruit sweetness. We special ordered a bunch of different proteins and vegetables at half portions to make a feast: Aguachile- Light refreshing starter, kanpachi perfectly marinated and great for the summer heat. Crispy potato- Phenomenally done fingerling potatoes. Whipped beans- Carnitas on top made this dish. Fried chicken tacos- Found the chicken slightly on the dry side, if there was a creamy/thicker sauce would be even better... nothing wrong with flavor, good mild heat. I did enjoy the fresh shredded cabbage and carrots, reminded me of bahn mi. Empanadas- Loved the acidity of the sauce that cut through the fattiness of the ground meat. Light shell. Crispy Squash flower- Delicate crunch, like an angelic version of a jalapeno popper. Lamb chops- Definition of "treat-yourself" luxurious meat lollipops. Celery salad- Simple dish but the lemon flavor and tartness really helped break up the richness of other dishes. Churros- Light crunch and small, petite dessert. The thin caramel sauce is addicting. Fine dining, for those special occasions or if you just want to splurge for a morale boost highly recommend this restaurant. Valet parking or park across the street or around the corner in a lot for $5-10.

This place is the best for breakfast. I just came here recently for the first time and I am surprised I never heard about it. It is in a nice location that is very low-key and the atmosphere is great. There is not a parking lot and we luckily got a spot right out front but I can see how on a busy day it may be difficult to find parking. The food is fairly priced and very decent portions issued. There is seating available both inside and outside. The inside also has an area where you can watch the chefs cook the food while you eat. I ordered a half order of French toast and the order of eggs, potatoes, toast and bacon. I only wish that I had ordered the full order of French toast because it was very good. The regular toast was kind of weak as it was literally one slice of bread cut in half. The bacon was nice long strips and tasted very good. The potatoes were good only thing is I think they needed to be cooked a little bit longer. I got a soda with my food and they were stingy about refills but I don't mind. Overall, I think this is one of the leading morning food spots in Los Angeles. I need to taste try a few more items and possibly change my review from four to five stars, depending on the taste. 4 stars for food & service -1 star for atmosphere We were originally planning to go to a family favorite, Uncle Bill's in Manhattan Beach, but decided to mix it up and try something new. Millie's was on a list of the best breakfast places in LA that also happened to have some of our favorites listed as well, (like Uncle Bill's & Blu Jam!), so we decided to give this place a shot. When we walked up the place seem packed but we were seated within 5-10 minutes. While we did see some comfortable and cute places to sit inside and outside of Millie's, we unfortunately were seated on a slant of the sidewalk outside up against a closed up window or shop or something.. with the cars passing by and basically being on the outskirts of the entire restaurant, it wasn't the best comfort or atmosphere to eat in. However! What the atmosphere lacked, the food and service made up for, a ton! Our coffee was perfect, the food we ordered was incredible, and no one was ever gone from our table for too long. Millie's Cafe is a breakfast lover's dream! I recently visited and tried both the veggie breakfast burrito and the crab benedict. Let me tell you, the portions are enormous! The veggie burrito was packed with fried goodies and hearty ingredients, making it incredibly filling. If you're planning on indulging, definitely come hungry. The crab benedict was a standout as well - perfectly prepared and full of flavor. To wash it all down, I couldn't resist their iced coffee, which was refreshingly delicious and just what I needed to complement my meal. Despite a line out front, we were seated quickly, which was a pleasant surprise. The staff here is exceptionally attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. One thing to keep in mind is that parking is on the side streets, so plan accordingly. Overall, Millie's Cafe delivers a delightful and satisfying breakfast experience with great food and excellent service. Which is perfect for those who also want to treat their furry pal to a nice treat seated on their outdoor area. I have gone to both locations but may have to congratulate this location as my favorite. I have always gotten seated right away and they get your order going pretty fast. We got there at 2 and were enjoying our spread by 2:15. I got the vegan Cali Benedict (game changer!!) and banana walnut pancake( sooooooooo delicious). I also got the black vanilla latte and my pup got the grilled chicken which they cut up for her and served after it had cooled down. Amazing service. I will always come back to this amazing diner and they are my favorite place to show off to new comers. This place filled a little Ohio shaped hole in my heart, left there from time spent in college. The ambiance was everything a diner should be - old, small, and friendly. The food on the other hand I would have expected at a really nice restaurant, not a hole in the wall place I happened upon on Sunset Blvd! The food was excellent and it was fun being able to watch the chief in action! I had the egg scramble with cream cheese, salmon, and shallots with an add of spinach. Cooked to perfection, not dry nor too wet. The rosemary potatoes, as everyone has said were delicious, as was the buttermilk bisquit. For me the best part of the whole meal was the country gravy I got on the side. It was infused with fresh rosemary that was subtle yet added an air of sophistication to an otherwise typically normal white sauce. My parents ate here for lunch when they came on a trip to LA. I just moved here a few weeks ago and decided to try it because they said there food was good. I got a bad vibe right way when the guys dog next to our table kept licking my leg. I asked to be moved inside and the waitress said, "we are busy." I was so mad I got up and left. With so many places to eat in the Silver Lake/Echo Park area being treated like that isn't worth it even if they serve the best food on the planet. We decided to head over to the Brite Spot. Our server (Ceasear? I am bad with names) was great, which made up for the horrible service at Millie's. My favorite waitress (kate? Kim? I need to remember her name) even cut up their homemade coffee cake for people to try when food was taking a bit longer! It was pretty alright. The service was great and friendly and fast. The outdoor seating is super loud (not their fault). I ordered the veggie bennie, I like to try out different places' hollandaise sauce. Kind of meh in my opinion. I only ordered it because it was said to be homemade, not from a can, but I didn't really taste anything in it. I feel like hollandaise should have some tang, some lemon. My girlfriend got some pancakes and they were good and fluffy and a healthy snack. IF this place were more appropriately priced, I would probably give it more stars. As it stands you're paying a bit inflated prices for diner food... I'll probably go back though. Location is great, and like I said, the service was pleasant and nice and fast. read more

This is a great place to have breakfast! Even though it was busy, we got seated right away!! Sweet! We were served coffee and water within a minute or two! Nice! They have a guy circulating with fresh coffee and water and keeps your cup or glass topped off! Nice! The food was delish! I had a breakfast plate called, The Usual, with 2 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, 2 pieces of French toast and some potatoes. Overall a great experience! Millies is such a wholesome spot! The owners, Julian and his brother, are genuinely great people. I've known them for a while now. We met at my job, and there was this random coincidence where his worker came out of the blue and julian blessed him. He also bought some gifts for family and friends. Millie's has some INCREDIBLE breakfast. I had the Devil's Mess and I was definitely not disappointed. It was packed with flavor and the portions we're huge. Also, the service was perfect. My coffee was always topped off and they were very helpful when I asked for a meal suggestion. My only negative is the atmosphere. Millie's knows how to do eggs right. I'd recommend the Devil's Mess, California Omelette, and Eggs Benny. Pancakes looked good too even though I didn't eat them myself. Millie's, you're a little overpriced for what you think you are, but you're okay. I think we can work something out. Whenever I go to places of this sort (diners), I almost ALWAYS get a tuna or patty melt. This time, I got the former with fries. The fries were nothing special but the tuna melt was delicious. Their rosemary potatoes seemed very intriguing...I'll definitely go back, but at a place like this, it's good to get something like breakfast, which you know can only be so bad. read more

They have a VEGAN burger that is so yummy! It made me so happy to stumble upon this seemingly old school burger joint and find "VEGAN burger" (not veggie burger, but VEGAN burger) proudly written on their menu along side their other entrees. They even had vegan mayo and vegan cheese! I really appreciate this restaurant because there are not many vegan friendly places Los Angeles. Thank you so much for accomidating all of your patrons. Went this weekend as I love Millies - but was saddened to see that there is, in fact, some pretty disgusting antisemitic and pro terror graffiti Millie's has pointedly refused to address. I emailed and looks like they have blocked emails as well. I dont need to be staring at people wishing for my death while I eat pancakes. The fact that I can bring my pooch Loki with me, makes it worth it! Lets not forget to mention the amazing blueberry pancakes! The service & the food is always great... But since it spanded SO MUCH, it takes THAT MUCH to get served. I think if you want to grow your bussiness, it should grow in every aspect. The kitchen is still the small one ive seen every time. Not enough cooking space for so many tables. One of the best breakfast spots! My go to, scramble, bacon, biscuits, gravy. Sitting at the counter, watching the food prepared, it's a art, an enjoyable start to the meal with coffee. I love the no cell phone policy, although I don't think they enforce it like they used to. I remember the whole wait staff screaming NO PHONES every time a hipster tried to take a call.
