A Silverlake staple. Absolutely fantastic. Prime location on Sunset with shady patio seating perfect for people watching, the service is always prompt to help you and has a positive attitude. It is an extremely busy restaurant, so don't expect to sit all day and quietly wile the hours away. The food is great, always incredibly satisfying and for reasonable prices. Even writing this is making me want to dive back into their breakfast menu. Highly recommend. read more

Millie's is a staple in my life. me & my husband, my friends, my mom, whoever i'm with we coming here for breakfast. i'm a gf/df so it's hard for me to enjoy breakfast these days but Millie's is so accommodating and so fast! I can have pancakes and waffles! as a gluten-free girly! truly a dream come true and I recommend to any and everyone who likes hearty good food for breakfast. it's super casual and that's what I want for my first meal of the day. fan 4L! read more

During our recent visit to LA we found this amazing breakfast spot. The California Eggs Benedict and Rosemary Potatoes was so good we came back again the next day and added Pancakes! The service was friendly, quick, and responsive. They kept my coffee cup full and food was hot and delicious. We highly recommend Millie's for breakfast or brunch. read more

So I got super lucky with parking coming here. Street parking CAN be hard to find depending on time and day you come. The service was exceptional, they were on top of making sure we had everything we needed. The chai latte with oat milk was to DIE for. If they weren't $7 I would've asked for a refill. They have a full vegan menu. This is what HEAVEN looks like for vegans! A non vegan menu for my friends and a vegan one for me. Nobody has to sacrifice. The vegan breakfast burrito was EVERYTHING! The size, flavor, texture- 10/10 recommend. I wasn't the biggest fan of the banana pancakes but I won't tule them out- I just don't care for banana inside pancakes. Anyway, go try this place! read more

Got breakfast Saturday morning at Millie's cafe! Limited indoor seating, so be prepared to eat outside especially if you have late brunch. Luckily there were umbrellas that kept the tables mostly in the shade. Waiters were fantastic at refilling water pitchers and making sure we had everything we needed! read more

I've been meaning to try forever. Parking is a bit of a challenge but we lucked out up the street. It looked super packed but thankfully we were able to sit right away, though outside. It was hot but the tables outside are pretty covered. Staff was friendly but it wasn't personalized. Food came out super quickly, which is nice cause I was starving. Everything tasted yummy... But for the price, it was a little underwhelming. My only food critique would be that the pancakes were super fluffy but a little too dense (if that makes sense?) and the nuts tasted stale. It was the monkey banana pancakes... there were supposed to be chocolate chips in them too, but I felt like I saw 3 total. I still say 4 stars cause it seems like a consistent place and if I was in the immediate area I know I would come here and there. read more

Came for brunch with a friend, and we were able to catch one of the last open tables outside. I opted for the BAGEL W/ LOX, mostly because I didn't want to overstuff myself and the dish was yummy as I expected. But all the other dishes at other tables looked very promising. Definitely coming back for brunch again to try other dishes. ENJOY! PS: There isn't parking, it's just street side. read more

I'on even know what to say...yes I do... Millie's can kiss me somewhere below my spine. APPARENTLY black dudes are not allowed to sit in front of the restaurant unless THE OWNERS SON (this was his introduction) decides it's ok. Long story short: I go to Millie's looking for some decent food (they DO have that) and it's relatively crowded. There's a 4 person table in the back behind the sidewalk (if you know the layout) and a four person table near the door (there's NO OTHER SEATING). Everyone seats themselves so I choose the door seat. The lil boy comes to my table after 5 mins of sitting and asked my to leave the seat to go sit in the back and I told him no. He says it's because I'm at a 4 person table but his dumb ass didn't see the white lady sitting at one DIRECTLY behind me (inside the restaurant). The little boy decided right then AND TOLD ME TO MY FACE..."I'm not serving you"....i was like...WOW!!! So if you don't like black people or if you're naturally afraid of black men, Millie's is your home for great food and bigotry. I'm gonna tell you like he told me...have a blessed day and god loves you. read more

A very cute spot! The service was amazing and everyone was so kind and attentive. The menu was quite extensive and was very accommodating for my gluten-free diet. I ordered the date cardamom latte and a chicken + bacon sandwich on gluten free bread with a side of hash browns. The hash browns were delicious and were perfectly crisped. The sandwich itself wasn't too great for me unfortunately. The bread got soggy a little too fast for me - I think I just should have ordered something different. I was so excited for the latte but it was unfortunately not too good and tasted a bit burnt and the date and cardamom flavor didn't really come through. If I was in the area again I would come back to try something else off the menu just because there were so many gluten free things to choose from so would love to give it another chance. read more

I have been to Millie's Cafe twice. this is a central place for some of my nursing cohorts and I to meet. While parking can be a challenge, the service is fast, the staff is friendly and the food is just fine. This place is always packed, and there is plenty of sidewalk seating. I can imagine that this place is quite lovely in the warmer months. The first time I came here I ordered the Irish Benedict (no photos). The Irish benedict was corned beef hash eggs benedict and i was 4 stars. The eggs came perfectly poached, but the hashbrowns were burnt. I came here the week before Christmas and ordered: Chicken Club Sandwich: 3 stars. The sandwich came with a side of hashbrowns which were okay. The hashbrowns were again burnt buth time they were also dry, but I still ate them as I was hungry. The sandwich itself was also okay. While the chicken breast was moist, the sandwich itself needed a boost of flavor. Perhaps a garlic aioli or pesto smear? Plenty of vegan/dairy free options for those interested, and I will likely come back here again for reasons mentioned above. Perhaps their rating will change based on what I order next. read more

Last minute breakfast place found on a whim. Luckily got a parking spot right in front (parking can be a nightmare). We got Seated right away. Service with a F *** You? I'm not too sure what they mean to accomplish with that phrase on everyone's shirt. I think unnecessary. Service was pretty quick, friendly but somewhat rushed. Maybe I was there early enough about 8:45am to beat the rush. Food: got sausage breakfast burrito, French toast and pancake breakfast. I failed to review the actual menu before stopping by. Yelp pictures showed different food choices and prices. So my Bill was nearly $80. Was it worth it? eh... not really. I also asked for a pistachio latte. The worse ever. I'm not one to return my food/drinks. But def wouldn't order that again. Ambiance was chill, with a side of traffic as the restaurant sits right on the street of constant traffic. Overall not the best I've had, but decent enough if u need a quick breakfast. read more

A solid brunch spot! It was pretty busy on a Saturday morning, but the line moves quickly and we were seated within 15-20 mins. The food here is your classic brunch food. My egg scramble (they call them messes) was flavored nicely. The roasted potatoes on the side needed salt. Best part was the biscuit! I tried some of my friend's French toast which was probably the most impressive - so I'd recommend that. Lastly, I ordered a latte that was massive and really great. read more

i have no direction in life and i feel really lost and scared and confused. i don't even have a consistent work schedule or morning routine but i come here like clockwork and I will never skip my millie's day. this is the most consistent and healthy relationship i have had in a while. . I go to millie's more than I talk to my parents , because millie's is too fucking good. . i get the same thing every single time. California benedict, rosemary potatoes (if it's the weekend) and ask to get them fried. if weekday hashbrowns but also sometimes i just stick to regular potatoes, a side of pico and a carrot/oj juice. but sometimes i just stick to water. Also they have great water. I love when places just give you a full carafe of water. I am worried that i am coming here too often and if it could be rooted with a deep desire of community. or i crave feeling special when the workers remember me and talk to me when there's a huge line on the weekends, like i am important. read more

This place is amazing! I got the buckwheat pancakes and I loved them. If you are looking for a fluffy fiber-dense pancake that tastes almost like the cocoa in chocolate while being more healthy, well then these I'd recommend for you! I can see why Millie's is an institution in Silverlake. With the quick service and extensive menu options at decent prices, it's easy to understand how it stays busy. I went recently with a group of friends and while we enjoyed our food and coffee, the issue we had was regarding our bill. We were all separate checks but they initially gave us all one bill. When we tried ask if it could be split four way (since there was four of us) we were told no. Luckily, a different service intervened and was able to remedy the situation. An odd interaction but it didn't deter too much from the breakfast. read more

This place is the absolute bomb!!! The service is stellar. They were sooo accommodating and followed-up. I ordered The Usual because the guests next to us ordered it and it didn't disappoint. The French toast was soo fluffy and seriously decadent. Loved their chicken apple sausage along with their rosemary potatoes. Another highlight was the rose matcha which had delicious flavor and wasn't too sweet. Very light and refreshing. And finally, the star was their gravy. I just had to try it. I would love the recipe because it was soo unique, authentic and tasty. Next time, I'll try their biscuits and their waffles. Solid brunch spot. Love this place because there are options for everyone, all dietary restrictions or lack there of welcome! You can eat super healthy or get that hearty hangover cure. I was clearly in the matcha mood, trying to be healthy and sh*t. Rose Water Matcha: 4/5 It was good! Refreshing, not super creamy or overly sweet. If I returned I'd probably try something else though. It hit the spot but not earth shattering. Matcha Bowl: 4/5 Love all the toppings. I'm a toppings and sauce girl. Some people might say it's too much. But if I wanted less of the extras, I'd just order a smoothie. Once again, hit the spot but I'll probably order something else when I return. Atmosphere: 4/5 I'm all about the outdoor seating. Didn't go inside, so don't have much to say about that. Service: 5/5 They are on it! Anytime we asked for something it was there in a minute. Came here without planning it really. Was originally going to Russell's just a few miles away, but as my family drove up, the line was insanely long and my husband immediately said he wasn't waiting. I looked for breakfast places and found this spot, which I'm glad I did! There was a bit of a wait at around 10 something that I checked in to get a table. One tip, as the hostess suggested, if you are headed here, especially on a Sunday, check in through the app here, rather than doing so once you arrive. Wait was 27-37 mins when I checked in at the restaurant, and were seated in about 20 minutes. Our drinks and order was taken pretty fast. I ordered the rosewater matcha drink, and had the chilaquiles Benedict. My husband got a cold brew and his favorite, chicken fried steak. My plate was rather interesting with a blend of multiple things going on at once, but it was actually really good. My husband enjoyed his meal as well and we were glad to have ended up here. read more

Love the food quality here and portion sizes. Decent prices for the quality of food they serve. Everything on their menu has been delicious so far with good vegan options for my wife. I just love this place! Great staff, service and food. Don't be intimidated by the line/wait outside - It moves quick because their service is fast. I love sitting at the bar and watching the cooks but the sidewalk tables aren't bad either. I try different things when I come in and never had a bad bite :) Lots of variety for all. Parking is street only but never had issues! read more

Wow! This place was packed on a Monday, but service/seating was still super quick. We probably got in and out in 40 minutes(quick eaters lol). Since the opening of this particular business, the Zinc chain has opened in a few other locations. Those locations are much newer in not only their establishment but their design. This is not to say that this is still not an interesting, well-designed business, but, with time, it has become a little bit rundown. I hate to say it, but that is the truth. This location could really use an update and perhaps a deep cleaning. I was, in fact, kind of surprised at the condition of this business, for example, on the way towards their restrooms. From my opinion, it needs an clean up and an update. Also, the litter that surrounded some of the outdoor tables where I was sitting at my most recent visit was very surprising. This is just something to keep in mind if you're coming here for your first visit. In terms of what they offer for food, though it has evolved a bit over the years, they still have a great, heath-based menu, with some very interesting choices. For all of you vegetarians and vegans out there, you will, for sure, be able to find some tasty food to eat. Once upon a time, this restaurant was impacted with tons and tons of people. It was constantly full with people either going to the bakery and/or sitting down for table service. Shortly past their opening each day, there would be a line of people waiting for service. We started with coffee. My boyfriend ordered a mocha, and I ordered a salted caramel latte. His drink was fine, but mine had absolutely no flavoring. As a former barista, I could immediately tell it was just a plain iced latte. I politely asked the waitress if they had forgotten the syrup, and she insisted, "There is syrup in it, but I can ask them to add more." I knew there wasn't any syrup, but I didn't want to argue, so I said, "Sure, please add more." A few minutes later, the manager came over and told me they actually didn't have salted caramel. So I asked if I could just get a regular caramel latte instead. She then told me they couldn't make that either because they were out of caramel sauce, the very reason they couldn't make the salted caramel in the first place. So why hand me a plain iced latte and tell me it had syrup when you knew you didn't even have the ingredients? Why not simply come back and let me know you were out and ask if I'd like something else? Instead, I was given a regular latte at the price of a flavored one (plus they later charged me for the syrup they never even added). For context, I had originally ordered a dirty chai, which they also couldn't make. So that's two drinks they didn't have, yet no one thought to communicate that before serving me something completely different. When I told the manager I'd look back at the menu for another option, she responded, "Okay... are you going to tell the waitress what drink you want?" I just looked at her, confused, and said, "Well... yeah?" How else was I supposed to order a replacement? The interaction came across as unnecessarily rude. Then it was time to order food. My boyfriend ordered the truffle burger, and I ordered the French toast. The waitress came back a few minutes later and said they couldn't make the French toast. No problem, I told her I'd also have the truffle burger. She acknowledged it, wrote it down, asked how I wanted it cooked, and what side I wanted. I ordered it medium-well with fries. So both burger orders were sent in at the same time. About 20 minutes later, the food arrived, but only my boyfriend's burger and an extra side of fries that we never ordered. At that point, we didn't even bother saying anything about the fries because we were trying to avoid making things more difficult. We waited another 20 minutes (even though it was so slow). My boyfriend finished eating, and my burger still hadn't come out. Finally, we asked for the check and requested that my burger be removed since it never arrived. That's when the waitress told us I had never ordered a second burger. I was honestly speechless. I reminded her that she had taken my order after telling me they couldn't make the French toast. She had written it down, asked how I wanted it cooked, and asked what side I wanted. Her response was that she thought I meant only my boyfriend's burger. That explanation made no sense because my boyfriend's order had already been taken before she took mine. It honestly felt like we were being gaslit over something as simple as ordering a burger. To make matters worse, after we paid and were finally leaving, I looked at the receipt and realized I had been charged for the salted caramel latte that I never actually received. We had to go back yet again. Thankfully, a different employee, not the waitress or the manager helped us. They were friendly, understanding, and quickly corrected the charge. I'm not sure if management has changed, but this entire experience was unnecessarily frustrating from beginning to end. Everything that could have gone wrong did. Honestly, I should've taken the "B" health grade posted on the window as a warning. We ended up walking over to Blue Bottle next door for coffee instead, and I'd absolutely recommend going there if you're looking for a place that actually values customer service. After four years of coming to Zinc, this experience has me seriously questioning whether I'll ever be back.

When we asked for utensils they didn't have any forks so they gave us one spoon and one knife. We made it work.
