Normally LOVE this Mimis. We come here all the time and the service is always amazing. Came on Easter and duh it's Easter we expected it to be busy. The older lady at the host stand is CLEARLY wayyy out of her depth. Have to wait ages to even be greeted and checked in. We say for 2 and I gave her my name and she says to take a seat. I ask very nicely "do you have an estimated wait time?" She YELLS at me "I HAVE RESERVATIONS TAKE A SEAT." Clearly a failure on management's part to staff someone capable of handling an Easter rush with grace, and staff enough people that the host stand isn't overwhelmed. We turned around and walked out and went to Huckleberry's. They were just as busy, we were greeted kindly, given an estimated wait time, and seated within that time and served quickly and kindly. It's important to mention Huckleberry's is all paper, they don't use an online system. And they were so much nicer and way more organized. I'd expect better of a place that's been around as long as Mimi's has in EG. read more

This was a terrible Mother's Day thanks to Mimi's. Our reservation was for 12:30. At 1:20 they couldn't tell us when we would be seated. To make matters worse, I asked why we made reservations, the lady was super rude and just said she had too many people here. The guy wasn't much better. Nobody ever apologized. We walked out after an hour with no end in side. To be told after all that time-I honestly don't know when you will get to be seated-way to ruin a Mother's Day! read more

If there was a no star that's what I would share!! Waited over 30 minutes to be seated, my husband ordered French dip but bread was so hard he just dunked the meat in the ajou sauce. I ordered soup and sandwich. It was alright but we had to wait 30 minutes after we ordered to get our food!! Waitress was snotty and they sat us in the back I had to ask the lady that brought us out food if a/c was on she said I don't know the manager runs that We complained to our waitress, she did nothing to fix anything! Oh boy where to start...maybe that 100% of the items ordered had non-food in them. First, the coffee had multiple hairs in it- I had to track down the server to replace. I brushed it off and then received my dish- only to obviously see a huge hunk of egg shell in it (without even touching the plate). I made it clear that I had lost my appetite and just to send it back. I had to track down our server to do so. I asked for the manager, only to wait and wait, my friend finishing her meal- my server no where in sight. I had to ask another server who brought over the "manager" - he seemed really flustered and was not very nice. I explained to him the situation and he made it clear that I of course would not be charged for the dish sent back...but didn't offer really anything else. Then my server drops off the sent back food with the check - I'm thinking, ok maybe this is a nice gesture since they had messed up? Nope. Still was charged on the check. Again waited and waited- had to literally get up to get the server (which sucks to do but again it was another 15/20 minutes) and then had to wait and wait again for her to bring the check without being charged for the food I had sent back. More waiting. Finally- she dropped off the check and walks off- only for the check to be another tables!!! I see another table look confused and we chat to find out that she had switched the tables. Mind you by this point it's been 2 hours since sitting down. I've had no food. And my friend had been finished with her food for about 40 minutes. The other table and I switch checks and wait...and wait again for the server. This by far is the worst restaurant experience I ever had, this is so disappointing because back in the day it was like a "fancy" kind of place to go. Those days are far gone. I cannot strongly advise you to not come here. Go literally any place else. Ps- still paid full price for my friends meal, and the 2 coffees...so I don't really think they care about returning customers (let alone the ones currently at the table) read more

Wanted a quick brunch before seeing a movie so we chose Mimi's Cafe as it was close to the theater. There was a short wait but it's to be expected during brunch. We went for seasonal menu items. I ordered the huevos rancheros. My partner got the truffles salmon. The huevos rancheros were a bit disappointing. They were actually more like tostadas. The tortillas were crispy and each topped with one egg, some avocado, ranchero sauce with bacon bits and cotija cheese. The portion was small for the price but the flavors were good. read more

After driving 2 hours to meet up with my friends at Mimi's on Sunday Mother's Day. The place was packed with folks. First time at this place. All was good but .... I found my food to be cold. It seems that they pre package the plate ahead of time and placed in a refrigerator. Not only was the food cold but the plate too. I expected it would be hot or at least warm. I had the grill salmon on a bed of white rice and vegetables. I could only eat half of the serving. It tasted very bland. I took the rest of it home including half of the tiramisu. The coffee though hot it tasted flat and watered down. The waiter was good but extremely busy due to the holiday. He managed to get a good 20% tip. The ambiance of the cafe was good and appealing. I am not sure I will visit it again. Hope your experience is better than mine. Bob appetite. . read more

We arrived and saw the lobby full of families. We waited patiently for a host to greet us and sat on a bench near the entrance. After a few minutes an older woman walked to the podium looked at my party of 2 and instead of greeting us, lectured us about sitting on the benches that were intended for outside use. I've been a server for years, no matter how stressed or annoyed I was, I would not take it out on a customer. We decided to leave and go to Black Bear Diner instead, which is down the road, got greeted and were able to sit down and order. Won't be coming to Mimi's again. read more

Terrible service today. It is mid day on a Tuesday and it took us 5 minutes to be seated, another 10 minutes to have our order taken, and another 20 after that to receive water and coffee - another 10 after that for food. The food is serviceable, but you can definitely make better at home for much less (a platter being almost $20 for the lack of quality is almost inexcusable). Environment would be fine if their staff actually checked on their customers at all, but that didn't happen. I don't know what happened whether it's understaffing or poor scheduling, but the absolutely dismal service ruined the entire experience. read more

This review is for my visit on 04/30/23 My friend and I been waiting for our schedules to align to have brunch & when we finally had an opportunity we chose Mimi's Cafe , we had a 12:30 reservation and I was able to be seated while I waited for my friend to arrive, the hostess was friendly and our server was even better , I was celebrating my birthday and she made me feel special and cared for the food was great ! My friend had the Pain perdu & ham and Swiss crepes while I had the sweet crepes with cream filling and fruit with turkey sausage & eggs , I ordered the mimosa flight and I can't pick which mimosa I enjoyed most because they were so tasty . We wanted something to eat. My wife wanted breakfast so we came here. There weren't very many cars in the lot so I thought it would be great no wait. Not .. They didn't have enough staff for the day after Turkey day. There were people waiting inside. She said it would be 20 minutes so we waited. It was more like 35 minutes. We sat in the first section before you get to the back dinning room. The server greeted us right away and asked us what we wanted to drink and apologized for the long wait. Which was nice. My wife got an omelet and I got the cobb salad and started off with the corn chowder since I was starving. He brought us bread to the table. My wife got a blubbery muffin with her meal. They changed the muffin from what it was before. Least there isn't so much sugar sprinkled on it. The corn chowder was ok. So was the omelet. My cobb salad was pretty good but I don't know why their was a pile of green onions in one corner. A little over kill. I guess I can't blame the business since no one wants to work anymore. It's been a few years since I've been to a Mimi's. They've closed down the Natomas location a few years back, never been back until now. We had a hangering craving for waffles today and we didn't want to go to Huckleberry's, as it could have been busy, and we didn't want to wait. We arrived as a party of two, got seated right away. No waiting on a Sunday. I immediately saw they had $5 mimosas for Saturday and Sundays...scored!!! I ordered their triple berry mimosas; it was just ok. The waffles were good, but not great. It did satisfied our cravings. My waffles came with two eggs and a choice of protein. I opted for pork sausages. There wasn't much of a Wow factor to our meal. Sitting at Mimi's. Their Buttermilk muffin and Pumpkin loaf is delicious, but that's about all. My Quiche Lorraine bottom and sides need more baking. I guess I will take it home and bake. The potatoes taste like the grease they were cooked in. I don't have the heart to ketchup them so I can eat them. Hubby said waffle was good but chicken tasted like my greased potatoes. Our coffee cups just got refilled and it's not even busy. Their service is always a hush and I don't understand why. I have to HUSH Mimi's Elk Grove You're off my list.
