Stopped in for Veterans Day with my wife and 2 kids. Mimi's has a hideaway space I have never seen before. It was perfect for the space we needed. Hi, I bought your croque monsieur earlier today from my local Mimi's (9195 W Stockton Blvd, Elk Grove, CA 95758.) I cant help but notice there is a distinct difference between what was pictured in the menu and what was presented to the customer. This is the second time I've received something deceptively different than what was pictured in the menu. Normally I wouldn't write this kind of review but since no attempt was made to to rectify what type of terrible service we received. I will be writing this review in the negative experience. It started with a not terrible 10 minute wait which is pretty good on a Sunday at 11:30 after we were sat we ordered a coffee and my daughter ordered an Arnold Palmer, which is iced tea and lemonade mixed. The server brought my daughter, a lemonade with one splash of iced tea on the top after he had asked her what it was to which she replied a mix of lemonade in iced tea. I ordered coffee and there was no attempt to give me cream or sugar. After I asked the waiter for cream and sugar, he took it from the table behind us, which I could've did myself. Now that table has no cream or sugar. I finished my cup of coffee within five minutes and put my empty cup at the end of the table to be refilled. The waiter asked me if I would like more coffee to which I replied to yes over the next hour and a half that I was there sitting, I only received one more cup of coffee. The same thing happened with my water, which was only refilled once as well. My daughter ordered the spinach and artichoke dip which came out in a timely manner, but when I dipped my first chip into it, the block of cheese on the bottom was cold. Notified the waiter to which she took it back and we did not receive the appetizer until the middle of our meal. The reason we went was for an omelette and my daughter wanted a crêpe. The omelette looked like a four-year-old made it, which was probably true since it was nothing but kids working in there anyway. It looked like scrambled eggs with meat and cheese. My daughter's crêpe came out about as thick as a flower tortilla crêpe should be almost paper, thin especially coming from a restaurant that is primarily known for their French cuisine. Still no coffee, but I've been asked again two more times if I would like a refill. Finally received my 2nd cup of coffee 50 minutes after I finished my first one and 15 minutes after I've already finished my meal. After my meal, we waited about another 15 minutes before the check was even offered to the table to in which I still had to bring the server over and ask for to boxes while I would also like to add two blueberry muffins to the bill, but he wouldn't know that because he never offered if we wanted anything else. I was absolutely astonished when the bill was $75 and no attempt was made to rectify the cold appetizer or lack of unlimited coffee. I was supposed to receive which I did not. We understand that everyone is shortstaffed and busy but at the same time if you can't handle working the busy shift you shouldn't be working it at all. I quietly paid my bill and walked out extremely unsatisfied with the food and service from a place that normally does fairly well. If there is a way to give this negative stars I would. read more

because i hesitate to ding businesses too harshly, i'm leaving 4 stars even though my experience was a one-star at best. on monday sept 22nd at about 1 pm my partner and i decided to try mimi's. we had avoided it in the past because of inconsistent reviews but wanted to try a new place. we ordered two basic breakfasts and one side of french toast. the coffee was good and tasted fresh. even though i ordered over easy eggs, i got scrambled. ok, no big deal. however, the eggs were slightly under cooked and wet. the potatoes were inedible --they were dry, oversalted, and over seasoned. the french toast had been over soaked and was raw in the middle. this honestly was the worst meal i've had in a long time. the portions were plentiful but wasted because we left most of it on the plate because it was so unenjoyable. also, the place was over air conditioned and it was like sitting in a refrigerator. off putting as well was a sign at the reception area offering a free muffin to anyone who leaves a 5-star review. unfortunately, i can see why the need for bribery. i'm sorry to leave this review but this is a case of "buyer beware." they need to shake up their kitchen staff and rework the dreadful breakfast potatoes. the service was friendly and attentive, which we appreciated. read more

Well. The food is good. Except! I'm never satisfied with the portion served. I believe it's not moderately enough. I must say I don't eat much. It's my "only reason" I have regrets returning each time‍ I think if they would serve a little more food would be almost perfect!!! Although, it's gotten a little $$.. The Waiting time is not to bad. DO NOT ORDER TO GO! I love dining in and eating here. Mimi's food is always one of my favorites, so it's really sad I have to do this but they've messed up my order twice now for my to go. I had originally placed a to go order on Sunday and was so excited to try their new pumpkin pancakes, but when I got home my bag was just filled with sides. No pancakes, no waffles, none of my main entrees were included but we were already home. I call this morning and let them know I'm coming to pick up the remainder of my order, and was told it would be ready. I just got home with my order and the pancakes are not the pumpkin pancakes I had ordered, but regular ones, completely disappointing me once again. When I tried to call back and let them know, they hung up in my face. I'm just a girl trying to get her pumpkin pancakes!!! I came in on Saturday for Lunch and the server kept giving me dirty dishes with food still on it and it hadn't been washed. First I got a cup of water and there was food still on the cup and other customer's lip prints still on the cup. Then I got dirty utensils and then dirty plates that had food and food stains still on the plates. It makes me feel that it was done on purpose because the server was white male and I am not white of skin color and I really felt that he was intentionally giving me dirty dishes after another and another non stop. read more

I love Autumn. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I cooked for years, and recently started eating out. I heard they were open on Turkey Day here, and taking reservations. I didn't feel like going out or waiting to do to go. So I stayed in, made a meal and watched NFL on Thanksgiving Day. I still wanted another turkey plate before Winter. If you think turkey is dry, and don't like it then you're missing out or being a hater. I see a lot of people suggesting to substitute the turkey for fried chicken or steak. What are some of you doing? Those are the people that put up Christmas decorations the day after Halloween. Fried chicken is what you eat after church, and when I think of steakhouse I think of a date night. You can get those things anytime. When a turkey is done right, it's a beautiful thing. Whether it's slow-roasted in the oven, deep fried, smoked, or a turducken. You can also have the leftovers as a sandwhich, nothing is better than that. I like to keep it traditional. read more

Tried Mimi's again over the weekend and surprisingly the service was much better. Kim was our server and she was great. She was attentive and made sure we were doing good throughout our meal. She was busy as she had an entire section to herself, serving at least 10 different parties with at least 4 to 5 guests per table. The food was good. Although their scrambled eggs were bland. Kim brought out our coffees first (mocha latte, cafe au lait, cappucino) and these made much better than my first time here. We ordered quiche Florentine, brioche French toast and smoked salmon omelet.We also ordered a dozen of their blueberry crumble muffins to go, they are delicious. Kim was also able to get these boxed up during our meal and had them packed by 4s. There are other pastries available as well, displayed by the host stand. Unlike other breakfast restaurants, Mimi's only serve roasted potatoes, no hash browns but they can make the roasted potatoes extra crispy upon request. read more

6/13/21 - It's been a while since I've been here, but this morning I was really craving for a benedict and a glazed salmon, so we decided to come to Mimi's Cafe. We were seated right away, but it took them forever to take our orders, they didn't refill our drinks and we waited forever to get our check. We ordered the Glazed Salmon, oatmeal, salmon Benedict and brioche French toast. We checked in this morning at 8:00 Am. Asked if we can reserve for a party of 12 at 11:00am the person on the phone said she will try her best to have us sit together as there are other reservations. The person in the front checked us in, he wasn't very helpful or polite. We noticed he treated the other guest a lot differently. He said that we will have to be split in 3 tables. We asked if we are able to sit near each other or if we can wait a little longer so we can have a table we can sit together. He didn't say he would try. He just said possibly no. There is one thing about customer service, and that's "trying" to satisfy the customer. It seems to me he is able to accommodate other guest but not ours. There are plenty possible ways we can sit together as many tables have opened yet he just didn't want to try to accommodate us. The guy calls us and says your table is ready and they can figure out where to put the rest of our party when they come. So they sit us down and we come to a table that will fit my whole party. We were so confused, annoyed, and relieved at the same time. The rest of our experience was great and as we left the guy goes "wasn't that a nice surprise?" Honestly I didn't know how to feel about it because I wanted to leave knowing we weren't going to be accommodated. I don't know if a party canceled or what. It has been years since I've come in to Mimi's. from what my memory tells me one word mediocre. Not the case on my visit today. The service was good and the food was even better. I ordered the smoked salmon eggs Benedict which was cooked nicely and the salmon actually had enough smokiness to be tasted through the sauce and egg. I also tried the spices buttermilk muffin and the banana chocolate muffin. The banana muffin was my favorite of the two, and both came out piping hot quickly from the kitchen. The only downside was out wait time for the entrees, which is surprising it being a weekday morning with low foot traffic. read more

Came here last night with my family for dinner and had a terrible experience. My food was burnt, my mom's food was cold and somehow looked over cooked and underdone at the same time. Not to mention my sister ordered a side of potatoes with her meal and what she received was non seasoned overcooked hard potato bits on a plate. Also our waiter took our meal orders and literally never came back to check on us. It was someone else who dropped off our food. My mom had to flag someone else down to call over a manager. Once the manager came over and my mom explained to him what happened with our food he had a rude attitude about it like we were bothering him. My mom told him about the potatoes and he rudely replied well those are our potatoes.. He took the food away and never came back. There we sat waiting and waiting and nobody ever comes. Finally the waiter that seated us comes over and apologizes and drops off the bill saying the food sent back was taken off the bill. One person in my party didn't have an issue with her food so we paid for just her stuff and left. It's one thing to have waiters that don't check on paying customers it's another thing to be met with a rude bad attitude having manager. Corina and I went in Sunday after boycotting this place for months. We were pretty unhappy the last couple of times we ate here, but it was time to give them another try. Mimi's is always messing with stuff. The size of the portions change. The items on the menu change. Of course the prices are always going up too. We like Mimi's when things are right, but this was the 3rd time in the last 15 years we have been unhappy and stopped going for months. One of my favorites is their Cobb Salad. Last visit they had down sized it by about 35%. So now they bumped the price up to $11.50, but the portion is back to what it was last year. Service was awful last time. This time it was better, but my salad came out 5 minutes before Corina's bowl of French Onion Soup did. Soup is now $7.00 I'll give them a 4 star because they offer BOGO coupons all over the place. Yet I don't think many people use them. We never go here without one. read more

A good friend now lives in Elk Grove and we found this Mimi's location. It seems Elk Grove is where all the old chain restaurants go to get revived! The Mimi's on the peninsula closed a while back. But this one is open with a wonderful menu, including a 3 course prix fixe for $29. I had the French onion soup, blackened salmon with garlic spinach and broccoli (keto) with lava cake and ice cream for dessert; and my friend had the corn chowder, French pot roast and bread pudding with whiskey sauce. Each was delicious and well priced. The service was attentive and friendly--Jo was great! She was super helpful with food suggestions and just general great conversation. We also had white peach Mimosas, which wer also lovely and not too sweet. We arrived around 4:45pm for a late Sunday supper. So we missed the brunch crush and got ahead of the dinner rush! All servers and management seemed very friendly and attentive. Nice to see old chains still on top of their services and menu. I recommend! read more

First off I will say that it's know that on Mother's Day restaurants will be busier than most days. I made reservations weeks in advance to avoid this situation but that didn't seem to matter at all. You expect that your reservation time would be honored or at least somewhat close to it. We waited for an hour past our reservation time and still hadn't been seated. The staff at Mimi's seemed to be unprepared and overwhelmed with the amount of people. Knowing now how they handle these busy holidays I would not recommend making plans to celebrate at Mimi's. This place is located in a nice area of Elk Grove next to a bunch of shopping stores. We came here for the breakfast/lunch time to try and get a brunch meal going since it was almost noon. We were immediately seated and in a both. The restaurant itself is pretty roomy and seems to get busy from time to time. Our server was really nice and came by to check up on us every once in a while to make sure we were good. He also had really good recommendation on mojitos. I had the mango mojito and although the alcohol didn't taste strong, it was def a silent kicker. For brunch, we had ordered a veggie omelette with fries instead of the usual fruits. The omelette also came with choices of many muffins and my choice was the carrot cake muffin. It was really good and I wish my stomach had more room for it, but there was already so much food. Also ordered was the grande treatment, which was two eggs and a style of sausage. All in all, the food was exceptional although I think the main food could of been better.
