Frequently walk past Mimosa Grill when in town and headed from office to hotel and on a whim decided to stop in for dinner. Glad I did! Decided to sit on the patio to enjoy the evening and ambiance. Patio dining is traditional wrought iron but the cushions on the seats help! The cocktail menu has a fun selection but decided to have a Double IPA on tap called "Baby Maker" which I was glad to have a non-judgy female server to take that request. Taste was closer to a standard IPA in my opinion but that isn't the restaurant's call. Ordered the Baked Lobster Mac and Cheese and it was ready before I was halfway through my beer! The meal comes out on the cast iron pan and they are quick to warn you not to touch. The Lobster Mac was very rich and well balanced. Could have done without the bread crumb topping but overall pretty delicious. Service was good and attentive but not overbearing. Would recommend and will likely return on a future trip! read more

My husband and I had the opportunity to dine at the Mimosa Grill one time and unfortunately that will be our last due the RUDE and INCOMPETENT staff. After dinning we went to book a party/reception with them for May 22nd. I began corresponding in February with their Senior Catering Director Diana Swanson. After a few emails I was sent a link to a guest portal and assumed that the reservations had been made. After reaching back out and not getting response, I called multiple times and followed up with an email. This is when I should have noticed a red flag. After several calls and emails I never heard back from Diana, I decided to check the guest portal which I wish could post here that had the time and number of guest booked, looking as though she had indeed booked us. On the Day of May 22nd at 7pm; which was supposed to be a beautiful day, my Husband And my Union ceremony dinner was ruined by an ARGUMENTATIVE and DISRESPECTFUL manager who revealed to me that we would not be served because they did have us scheduled. He then went back and forth with me and demanded I send him the emails from Diana as if I was a child and the lack of communication and organization was my fault. It got so bad that my husband had me hang up because he couldn't stand to hear take verbal abuse over the phone as he drove. There was NEVER an apology offered for an obvious issue with the Catering Director being able to do her job or his tone and I was left going back and forth with him rather than him calmly offering any sort of explanation or an accommodation. We had 45 ppl scheduled with 25 traveling to dine. We ended up going to The Southern Pecan in the South Park Area who already had 200 on the books but saved the day. Working in the industry of service you never argue with a customer even if it was my fault you fall on the sword and keep your composure. I was left in tears and overwhelmed. I would encourage retraining management on conflict resolution and compassion. I understand that on a Saturday that you all were probably busy and quite possibly understaffed but learn how to speak to people I recommend "Crucial Conversations" it's a great read read more

Food was okay, mine didn't come out hot it came out like warm... barely. I feel like I was bamboozled, I got the steak & egg breakfast (mind you this item was probably the most on their brunch menu, $30 which is not bad at all.. for what I thought I'd get...) on my plate stood 3 measly pieces of steak, & as you see in the photos they show here on yelp like they're strips, I didn't even get half the size of the strips pictured here on yelp, I was given literal 3 maybeee 4 half sized stripped bite size portions of steak. Needless to say I was still hungry when I left. I basically paid $30 for a plate of scrambled eggs & some potatoes. Other than that the service was fine. Nice place for a bite in a relaxed atmosphere with a trendy menu. I was a little put off by the Host team but overall experience was positive and food was very good. The smoked salmon avocado toast and lobster mac n cheese were great! We made a reservation for 12:30 for 8 people and were going to be a few minutes late so we called to see if we could move the reservation to 1. We were told that they were completely booked and to just hurry and they would try to hold our reservation. We got in at 12:50 and the restaurant was at about 30% capacity. The bartender, Haley, was amazing. She was very attentive, accommodating and just a class act. The hostess and two managers whoever were completely incompetent and rude. The hostess seemed completely overwhelmed and out of her depth. The male manager, whose name I don't have as he didn't give it, refused to help with a reservation, failed to give any updates on if we could even get a table or sit at the bar. Overall he hindered the experience more than helped. The female manager was very similar, however she was also extremely rude when asked a question or when asked for help with a reservation. It became very clear that their management team didn't want our business and we will not be going back. Again, Haley the bartender was amazing and the only reason they even get a star at all. Food: - Bellini Carafe - Basic breakfast It was your standard Bellini and breakfast. However, I will note that the potatoes were very good. Service: - The service is the main reason why I am giving 3 stars. We had to constantly ask our waitress for plates, remind her of things she had forgotten to bring out, water, etc. Additionally, she rarely checked on us. What a surprise, I've seen mimosa grill for years and never had the experience of eating here until today. Being invited by friends for a brunch buffet was my eye opening way to see that this place was awesome on so many levels. The customer service was great, the atmosphere was so inviting, and lastly the variety of food available and the selections on the buffet we're amazing. This place is one of my faves. Brunch looks a little different these days but the food was still tasty and mimosas were perfect. Great to see that they are now offering Saturday and Sunday brunch. I have to admit the area was beautiful the restaurant was dimly lit but still a good ambiance. They only had 1 waiter and two cooks. The menue shown on yelp is outdated I came for the lobster Mac and cheese and the no longer serve it. The asparagus was delicious and the skirt steak was very chewy. In downtown Charlotte and need a great place for lunch, Mimosa Grill got the bill! They use local farmers for much of their food. They had black linens as well as white linen napkins - always good for business lunches when you're wearing dark pants etc. Several items looked great on the menu, so I decided to choose 2 entree's- Mountain trout, which I understand has been a staple on their menus since the first opened, and the Shrimp and Grits. I've never been here and had a bad meal. The outdoor area is super nice on a warm day! My last visit here, we had the Hot Honey Fried Chicken Sandwich and the Fish 'N' Chips. a few weeks ago, I lucked up on finding mimosa grill nearby my hotel during my first visit to N.Carolina for a work trip. it was a 7 minute walk and I thought why the heck not, looks good on yelp. there was no wait when I arrived and I opted for seating outdoors (see pictures for reference) it was such a nice day out, not too hot and it by the time I sat down, most of the other people there were heading out so I pretty much had the patio to myself. it was awesome. I ordered a delicious mimosa and a "starter salad". that starter salad was soooo good. I honestly could've went for two of them. because the menu was very particular and I am steering away from bread and fried foods (I'm getting married soon), my eyes went straight for the "pan roasted diver sea scallops" I really stepped out of my comfort zone with this one honestly.. but..it was the best choice I'd made that day. :) except for the fact that I had left overs and left them on the table smh. lol maybe I'll get them again on my next visit. if I enjoyed it enough to go for a 2nd time, I'm sure you'll enjoy it too. read more

Someone needs to come help the person that put this menu together. it's all over the place...price point is terrible for the dish I got & few others. No flavor in my Mimosa omlete. My server was nice and came to check in at just the right times. She helped me decide which salad to get (I decided on the Pecan-crusted Chicken Salad). For being called a lunch salad (as opposed to an appetizer or starter salad), it actually looked a little on the small side. It ended up filling me up, but someone with a larger appetite might be disappointed. I also ordered the Moonshine Sangria, as it intrigued me. The flavors were good, and it was quite strong (they were also half off that day, which I found out after I ordered, score!) Overall, it was a great little lunch, and for a decent price. I went for brunch on a Saturday with a friend. Reservations aren't required, but I made some just in case. They have $25 mimosa carafes that are actually strong. Our waiter poured our first glasses and if he came by to check on us and we needed a refill, he would pour for us. Excellent customer service because we didn't expect or require him to do that. We ate out on the patio, which provided us with a nice breeze and views of Uptown Charlotte. Even though there is a buffet, they also provided an unlimited tapas selection by request. The hostesses were super pleasant and our waiter was really nice. We even sat and talked for awhile after eating and he still checked on us. The food is BOMB! The walnut crusted French toast has got to be the softest and most moist French toast I've ever eaten. The Mac n cheese had Parmesan sprinkled on the top. Personally, it could've been a little burnt, but that's just a preference. I don't even like grits, but I still tried the grits bar- twice LOL. The scrambled eggs didn't taste like powder- like typical buffet style scrambled eggs usually do. I want to take my dad when he's back in town. This received 4 instead of 5 stars from me because of parking. Parking is NOT on Tryon; it's on MLK. After parking, there is a sign in the garage with an arrow to direct you where to go. It's misleading. It should be pointing to the left when it actually points to the right. I walked around the entire block before I even got to the front door. Also, they're supposed to validate your parking but the chaser ticket they gave me didn't work and i had to pay :( read more

Came here for Sunday brunch. I'm not from the area, but I would definitely recommend making a reservation in advance as they seem to be very busy. Sitting at the bar is an option, but you'll probably have to wait a bit before sitting down. Either way, after finally sitting and eating, I didn't even mind the wait. There were many delicious options to choose from the buffet area: macaroni and cheese, shrimps, grit, roasted potatoes and vegetables, prime ribs, etc. They also had a tapas menu with additional options to choose from. I didn't have one bad dish to write about. I only had two plates, but boy, was I full. I think because the options are a bit on the heavy side, a plate or two could fill you up for the day. This was a great meal on the patio on a beautiful evening in CLT. It was my self and 5 of my new coworkers from various parts of the country. We started with the charcuterie board with 2 different meats, warm pimento cheese, pickled okra, and fig. Because there was 5 of us we got two of this long slender serving boards; each that came with pork rinds and toasted French bread. This was a great intro to the encore; I had the special which was blackened Maui Maui with grits and shrimp succotash. The grits had grape tomatoes, sweet corn and arugula and was made with real stone grounded grits. The Maui Maui was grilled perfectly with a crusted exterior and a white soft interior. This meal was pleasant on the eyes and stomach and the portion size was just right. 2 of my coworkers got the hanger steak with sweet corn and potatoes, another got the fillet and a Cesar salad and lastly one of my colleagues indulged in seafood with grilled scallops over a bed of lettuce with some type of white sauce that she liked very much. I was stuffed by then, but we tried the Key Lime Pie and the blackberry upside down cake both of which looked and tasted great. This was my first time eating at Mimosa Grill in about 10 years and I will not be as patient between visits next time. Phenomenal meal, enlightening conversation, in a beautiful atmosphere. A nice brunch spot in uptown. I liked the interior overlooking the fountains outside. Wish they offered bottomless though. They have many drink options, but food variety is a bit limited. I tried the chicken and waffles, which was quite good. Definitely had a kick to it. The waffle could've been made slightly better. The margarita mimosa did what it was supposed to do.
