Service: The restaurant is pretty small and does not have many tables so be prepared to wait a bit if they're busy. Ordering is done easily through a QR code on the table. Menu is in both English and Chinese. The only interaction we had with the staff was when they dropped off water and food. Food: We ordered the scallion pancake, cucumber salad, and meat pies. The scallion pancake was nice and crispy but it lacked flavor. We ended up not finishing this dish because it was so bland. The cucumber salad was overall good but some pieces were way too salty. Light, fluffy, savory, and of course, stinky. Great flavor. Beef noodle soup 3/5. Loved how chewy the noodles were, but broth flavor was kind of bland. It didn't help that everything else had much bolder flavors. Lamb and cilantro pancakes 5/5. Bursting with flavor. Crisp thin dough wrapped around juicy goodness - maybe about 2 spoonfuls leaking out onto your plate if you're not careful. Super eager to try the other variations. Pan fried buns 4/5. Expectations were too high based on others' experiences. We also already have a favorite pan fried buns place, so the bar was set quite high. Tasted good enough but will stick to Kang Kong next time. They do take credit cards. Saw a customer come in maybe 5 min before closing for takeout, and was turned away. A little hidden gem on Main Street. Every table has a QR code to order and youll pay at the counter when your done. All their dumplings and buns are handmade. Their fried mini buns are like pan fry XLB. Bite sized and super fun to eat. 10/10 recommend. Their meat pies are hearty. Be careful when you first bite into it. Can't go wrong with anything on their menu. One thing to note, their steamed XLB is a little more doughy. Their steam buns are really good as well. I've been watching Netflix, "The Double" and craving bao and fried stuffed Chinese pancakes. Min min Pie house in Alhambra fit the bill perfectly. This is a very small mom and pop shop that feels authentic. The menu is a lot larger than I anticipated and it was hard to pick just 2 items. I ended up getting the chives and egg "pie" and pork with pickled cabbage bao. It took over 20 minutes to get my order because they had to fry the pie and steam the bao. I like that it's pre-prepped then cooked fresh to order. Both items were simple, delicious, and satisfying. While the food is by no means gourmet, it's simple and flavorful. I noticed that they do a lot of food delivery orders and even have a few dine-in patrons. Portions are generous. The bao comes 8 in an order and the fried pies have 4 to an order. Honestly I think this food will feed me for many meals. Street parking is plentiful and easy to find. A nice find in Alhambra. I'll be back to work my way through the menu. read more

Ive been looking for one since Tasty noodle house closed and Hui To Shang wasn't open to inside dining anymore. I only ordered three dishes (chai and egg, pancake, beef noodle soup, pork, and leek dumplings) since there were only two of us but I couldn't help but notice the other delicious dishes on the tables next to us. I like this place for the atmosphere. It's a small, cozy, and quiet hole-in-the-wall unlike most places that are loud and chaotic. Absolutely no frills - they don't take measures to keep it nice and tidy, and that's how you know the food is good when you see it gets busy. But to be fair, a lot of dirty Chinese restaurants in the area are much, much worse. Everything is made to fresh to order. Food does not come out fast especially if it's busy. There are signs everywhere telling you that it will take at least 15 minutes for the food to come out so you can't say they didn't warn you. The wait was worth it though. We got 4 items: the beef pie, sheng jian bao, stinky tofu and Hang zhou steamed pork buns. Overall, food tastes good and but not 5 star good, mainly because I'm just nitpicky. Beef pie had a lot of flavor from the filling and it also had soup inside, but the dough skin kept constantly cracking and all the soup would spill out. I'd have liked this more if it wasn't so difficult to handle. It was more difficult to eat than a steamed soup dumpling because of how much wider it is, and it's not like you can use your hands and risk getting burned by hot soup. The sheng jian bao isn't as good as the ones at Kang Kang Food Court or Auntie Qiu's when it comes to flavor, but I'd still get this one again because I liked the texture. The fried tofu could have been fried for longer because it didn't really have much crispiness. I think for me, the best was the Hang Zhou steamed pork bun because I never had this before so I had nothing to compare it to. Very flavorful but not gamey at all. Fried buns - Good crispy pan fried bottoms, super soft on top but not so thick that it feels like there's more bun than meat. The pork is moist but not soupy and juice filled like you're used to. Pan fried pork & seafood dumplings - similarly juicy filling like the previous two but mixed with seafood. Good crunch on the bottom but no carby "lace" connecting them all. We parked right out on the street, 20 ft from the front door. Drove out to this area with my bf for a random trip to a boba shop down the street and decided to grab lunch from somewhere nearby and this popped up on our suggestions! Tiny little shop on a nice strip with other amazing food spots. We luckily found parking right in front and headed on in. Like I said, tiny shop with about maybe 6 tables max. It was already busy but we got lucky with one table left. She brought us water and let us know that the QR on the table was where the menu was. We scanned it and it immediately took us to the menu where you can add to your cart and place the order and they get notified! Super cool and love the no contact. Our cart already had a bunch of items from probably the previous customers so we called over one of the waitresses and explained to her the issue and she handed us physical menus instead. She went behind the counter to reset the online one and let us know that it was fixed and that we can proceed to ordering through the site. The soy sauce pancake came out real quick and it was honestly my favorite dish that we ordered. Super flavorful and such a great texture. We also got the pork scallion fried which was great and such a huge sized dumpling that was very filling. We also ordered the tianzi fried assuming it had meat in it and it did! Before came here, I looked at their menu and it had extensive and authentic flavors for dumplings and pies. That's how I knew they were legit!! We came on a rainy Saturday around 11:30am there were only two other tables. I feel on a nice day it would be busier. For food we got: - pork scallion pie (5/5). Wowwwww a must try!! It was so juicy and flavorful. The outside is perfectly crispy. This is our favorite and we definitely will try other flavors next time. - pan fried chicken mushroom dumplings (5/5). I love the dumpling skin as you can taste the slightly chew and that's how you know it's handmade! - cucumber salad (5/5). Very refreshing and balance out the richness of all the fried dumplings. - pan fried bun (4/5). This is probably my least favorite although it's still pretty good. It doesn't have much juice as I thought it would like the pie. So I'll stick with the pies next time. No fuss service. You order via QR code and food comes out around 10-15 minutes. Min Min Pie House is giving a small mom and pop shop/hole in a wall. It is pretty popular on a Sunday afternoon. It was my first time and I didn't know that you could order through a QR code system. A nice lady took our order as we sat down at one of the small tables. There's a good amount of turnover but the seating area is quite small. There were a good amount of to-go orders. The dishes we ordered were served to us as they came out. Everything was enjoyable although it took a bit of time for everything to be served. But this means that the food is fired up fresh! My favorite dish was the pork noodle soup (mostly the soup and noodles, I would switch out the protein to beef next time). The pan fried dumplings were filling and crispy on the outside. Careful, they are hot! Cucumber side is always good, especially with the chili oil. By the time my wonton soup came out, I was too full to really eat it, but the soup was soul healing. The restaurant itself is small and we were seated quickly as we came on a weekday at 7PM. The aunties that work here don't speak much English, but they try their very best to communicate. We ordered using the QR code on the table. We got the Shanghai wonton soup, beef and leek pancake/pie, and the pork and corn dumplings. The wontons had such smooth skin and the soup was the perfect balance of light and flavorful. I haven't had meat pies since Beijing Pie House closed down, so I was really excited to try the ones here and they did not disappoint! When I took that first bite, so much soup and juice came out. I ended up pouring it onto my spoon so I wouldn't lose it. The skin is thin, chewy and expertly pan fried. The pork and corn dumplings were also amazing. The skin was chewy and I liked that I could really taste the sweetness of the corn with the meat. Expect to wait a little longer for you food as they make everything to order!
