This place was ABSURDLY good oh my lord. The pork and leek pancakes (more like meat pies) were filled with soup!!! The chive and egg pancakes were exactly like how my grandpa made them for me growing up. I also got pan fried buns (not pictured) -- crispy and delicious, though I'd say the pancakes were the star of the show. Everything is made to order so it's a little slow (~20 min wait) but that just means it comes out hot and crispy and delicious! The ladies that work there mostly speak Chinese so be patient with them and you will be rewarded with homey authentic Chinese food. read more

super small mom and pop shop, so come early (before 12pm) for lunch on weekends or order to-go! our go-tos are the mini pan-fried pork buns, wonton soup (for the kiddos), and meat or chive buns. food is always solid here, but unfortunately, service is always lacking, if not non-existent. since most of their bun/pies are made to order, expect to serve yourself. their "scan to order" menu is efficient and works for their lack of service. read more

Been wanting to try this pie house for some time, finally got the chance to try it last Sunday. Their dumplings and pies are awesome, they taste great and very flavorful. The dumpling skin is thin, the meat is juicy, doesn't have any aftertaste. However, I suggest going there for their dumplings and pies. Their noodles are subpar, it is under flavored, noodles are way too soft, and especially for the beef noodle soup, there are only 3 small pieces of beef in it. With that being said, I will definitely go back for their dumplings and pies. read more

I'd recommend sticking with the handmade buns and dumplings. We ordered the pork and leek dumplings, pan fried buns (sheng jian bao), beef noodle soup, and cucumber salad. The dumplings had a lot of filling and were juicy. The beef noodle soup was too salty, but it did have a fair amount of meat. There's a note besides their chili oil with a spicy warning, and yup- it's a killer (for me at least)! My wife saw this restaurant on the SGV Eats Facebook page, and she subsequently recommended we try this restaurant. We ended up going for brunch with my parents. We ordered the zhajiangmian, pork and leek potstickers, and the pan fried dumplings. The zhajiangmian was ok, and a bit too salty for my tastes. However, the potstickers and pan fried dumplings were among the best I've had in SGV. The potstickers were super juicy and tasty, and they are made to order in the restaurant. The pan fried dumplings were filled with soup, and they were definitely home made and made fresh. They were super hot, and I had to bite off a bit of the dumpling wrapper to let the steam aerate a bit before eating the entire juicy dumpling. It's not really a noodle place, so understandably the noodles were ok. But the dumplings were absolutely amazing. Must try small restaurant in Alhambra. read more

We have been passing this place for two years and finally tried it! So good and the prices were much lower than other spots nearby. You can see them wrapping the buns by hand. It's definitely a hole-in-the-wall feel with a limited number of tables. There were several people picking up to-go orders. We were seated immediately on a Sunday evening. Food: we went with the cold cucumbers in garlic (very garlicky... which is exactly how I like it). Next came the fried mini buns. These were my favorite. Basically fried soup dumplings (xiao long bao). Then came the lamb and cilantro pancakes. I loved the skin on these as it was wonderfully crispy. I didn't taste much of the cilantro and so may go with green onions next time. Lastly, the beautiful pork and green onion buns came out. They were much larger than I expected and so soft. The meat was delicious and everything was so fresh. We had plenty of leftovers to take home and left feeling completely stuffed. Try it out and support this adorable small business!! read more

I really hate giving such low ratings, but we had a pretty bad experience with this place. We ordered pork dumplings, and I popped a whole dumpling in my mouth and immediately knew it was raw. I ended up splitting one of the other dumplings in half to show the waiter it was raw, and they went back to reboil it. However, after they reboiled the dumplings, they didn't replace the dumpling I split in half, and they also didn't offer a refund either. They also mistakenly gave our Shen Jiang bao to another table, and then took it back from that table and gave it to us. I really wish this place had better hygiene practices because the flavors were great. read more

Do not come here if you're expecting juicy soup dumplings and pan fried baos! They look presentable, but they are lacking the most basic component--the juice inside! They also don't have ginger... any xiao long bao enthusiasts will their dumplings with ginger, but when I asked for it the waitress looked at me like I was crazy! The meat inside the pan fried buns are also minuscule. It's a pretty small establishment with 5 tables inside, there's free parking in the back. This family owned, quaint little shop is such a gem. Time after time, Min Min doesn't disappoint. It's one of those foods that you will crave because it's so uniquely delicious. The noodles are simple but perfectly balanced in flavor paired with chewy noodles. I like to add a bit of black vinegar to give it a tang halfway through. The dumplings are standard but the pancakes are the true stars. The I credibly juicy and umami packed filling wrapped with delightfully crispy pan fried dough are unforgettable. There is a $15 minimum for credit card so be sure to keep some cash on hand if you're not planning to order at least 2 items. read more

Oh, that was delicious! Alhambra and the San Gabriel Valley by in large is known for their delicious dumplings, and Min Min Pie House certainly belongs in the upper tier of Dumpling houses. It's a small quaint little place, your hole-in-a-wall family-run type of restaurant, and they sure know how to make amazing dumplings! We had the beef and leek hand-made pan-fried dumplings and it was just so delicious. The sear was perfection and t meat and wonton play together beautifully. For $11, you also get a big bang for your money with 10 pieces. Many place would only give you 5 dumplings for the same price. So yes, I highly recommend Min Min Pie House! read more

So i've been here 3x in the past month cause people keep asking me randomly to go, but never at the same time. I'm not mad about it though. This is a Northern Chinese dumpling spot and they hand make most things as you order them so if you're in a rush, this may not be the spot for you. Most of the food here travels well so don't worry about ordering take out or if you have left overs. I would say that unless you can read Chinese, don't trust their English translations, instead look at the wall with the pictures. At least several of their items don't match their English names. For instance their pancakes are more like meat pies or turnovers, The baked cold noodle, is neither baked nor cold , its more like a Taiwanese beef roll you'd get at 101 express.... except they use a Chinese style Hot Dog as the protein (in either case this is one of the weaker items on the menu, skip it). Their dumplings are handmade and steamed, so are the pancakes. I think the fried buns (sheng jian bao) are probably made before hand just because of the soupy element (but I could be wrong). Anyway those have been my favorite items at this shop. The pancake, the dumplings and the fried buns. These are all super tasty and you can watch them make it behind the counter. If you came here for service or ambiance youre at the wrong place. The people are nice enough, but theyre busy making your order so don't expect them to wait on you hand and foot, they give you a jug cold water and that should be good enough. The home made chili oil is delicious and goes great with their dumplings and buns. If you're in a hurry, I would highly recommend you going online and placing your oder through the website first so that you can either pick it up to go or to eat it there. Three lovely ladies in what looks like cute customized aprons prepare dumplings/potstickers, buns, and pancakes by hand as well as noodle dishes, wonton soups, and other northern Chinese small dishes. Be sure to order the pancakes of every iteration (lamb/cilantro, pork/chive, beef/scallion, etc), take a bite off a corner and let the delicious liquid that collected in the pancake pour out and enjoy a little soup afterwards. The potstickers are great steamed and fried. And the buns are not as filling as the thicker encasing may show. Run, don't walk here! Except on Wednesdays haha. read more

This place is so good, very affordable. It's a little mom and pops with only a few tables, and they sell their handmade dumplings frozen as well. They make the food when you order so it's super fresh. This is a local place that I seriously hope stays open forever. I take my friends here and also my boyfriend. I would AVOID the beef noodle soup. This stuff should be called beef noodle oil instead. The broth was too oily. It was like drinking oil. Beef and noodles nothing special. 0.5/5 for effort. Baked cold noodle was delicious, except for the cheap tasting hot dog 4/5. The beef green onion pies were the main star of our meal. They come with a lot of juicy filling and the skin has perfect thicknes. 5/5. Service was okay, I guess. Grandma and mom did good. This place is a hidden gem on Main street in Alhambra. Place is ran by family - I always see mother/daughter duo running the show. I have tried their variety of dumplings and multiple different pies. We were supposed to go to a Thai restaurant on Main but we didn't want to wait for a long time so we walked around and found out this place. This is my first time to try Min Min Pie House. Potstickers and leek pie are our favorites so we ordered leek pie, pork three delight pan fried dumplings (potstickers) and a soy milk. The soy milk was served with a big bowl (I thought it's served with a cup instead) but it tasted so bland and didn't taste much soy bean and it was unsweetened so we had to add sugar. The leek pie order was huge and they were cut into 4 pieces. They were filled with a lot of leek and vermicelli and it was very satisfying and delicious. That's why we had to order another leek pie for to go. However, we were so disappointed by the pan-fried dumplings , they were all burnt. We didn't see it at first because they were all facing down but then we saw so many burnt stuff after we flipped them over. We had to remove all the burnt part. It's like they just finished frying a lot of stuff but did not wash the wok or pan so the dumplings had so much burnt stuff on it. The taste was not bad but we put a lot of effort to remove the burnt stuff and it was unappealing. We told the server and he told the owner and she gave us 20% off on that leek pie though. Anyhow, if the pan-fried dumplings weren't burnt and the soy milk was more flavorful then I would give them 4 stars. I highly recommend the leek pie and will order it again but definitely not the pan-fried dumplings. read more
